  • Pants count. As you perfect your systems, do yourself a favor and grab a pair of 5.11 brand TacLite Pro tactical pants. First you will note that its pocket system is superior to just about every other pant you've worn. First up: a deep, narrow, dedicated KNIFE pocket. Outstanding. Then you'll find a compartmentalized and flapped cell phone (or pistol mag) pocket on the left thigh. Inheriting proven features from the BDU/ABU/ACU trousers, the pant also incorporates side cargo pockets and deep slash front pockets. These well-designed pockets are a well-designed organizational option for your indispensable gear. Also note the Supplex® nylon reinforced pocket corners that inhibit wear from your clipped knives. Very cool. Departing from the BDU design, the TACLITE pants feature rear slash pockets as well, dispense with leg opening drawstrings and utilize Velcro® closures on the flaps all resulting in a more streamlined and less militaristic look. Seat and knees feature double layered fabric and incorporate a pocket for insertion of foam knee pads. The lighter denier ripstop fabric is another big winner in the TACLITEs as well: 65% polyester/35% cotton. It breathes amazingly well (very important), dries adequately fast in warm weather, is comfortable, lightweight (VERY important), sharp looking, and durable. The fabric is Teflon® coated to resist staining but don't expect that repellency to last the life of the pant. It will diminish with washing. Overall though, this is the best fabric I have found in a pant of this design. Also 5.11 opted for a more innovative and versatile action (or active) waist that features gathered elastic sides that can flex in or out to accommodate small variances in waist size. I prefer this method over all previous BDU or ACU design attempts. Stitching throughout the TACLITE is precise, overrun free, and features 48 bar tacks in stress areas. Interior seams are finished well. For a limited time 5.11 was also offering the TACLITE PRO pant with a free nylon TDU belt that is excellent (definitely worth the extra cost if you have to buy; colors match the pants). As of 2009, 5.11 offered the TACLITE pant in the colors of Black (shown), Dark Navy, TDU Green (shown), TDU Khaki (shown), and Coyote (shown and my favorite color). Also offered (and shown) and 100% nylon twill TACLITE PRO shorts which are also excellent but lack the knife pocket and active waistband. Other upsides include genuine YKK® zippers, brass lanyard D-ring, Prym® brand snaps (quality I guess), availability of extended sizes, and a fully gusseted crotch for more freedom of movement. Coming in around $40, the TACLITES still offer great value because they are so good at what they do. They offer near perfect, low profile but high utility and comfortable wearability for duty, personal, or recreational use. Highly recommended by Nutnfancy. ////////// Nutnfancy Likability Scale: 9 of 10 /////////////// Music licensed to TNP from Kevin MacLeod ////////////2011 5.11 increased the price of these pants by $10

5.11 is a tac comp off a climbing company. the strap on the back is for carabiners. The slash pockets are for getting to a backpocket with a backpack on.

I realize this video is now 5 years old, but wanted to add my 2 cents worth. I've been wearing 5.11 TacLite Pro pants for the past 4 years.......every day. They are my favorite pants......worth every dollar.......most comfortable.......wear like iron. I'm still wearing two of the original pants I ordered from them and they look great. Hard to believe that a company can manufacturer a product like this for the price they sell them. Kudos to 5.11!

You hit the nail on the head. I wore all the military uniforms, and once I retired, I wanted at pair of pants that were similar to the BDU/ABU/ACU type pant, and went with the 5.11. I have versions. I like the canvas/cotton ones for the winter, and the ripstop ones for the summer (ripstop once are awesome!!!), I work for the railroad now, and these are some tough pants. Also awesome for concealed carry.

These pants rock, I have a pair of almost all 5.11 pants and I love these the most. The pocket choices, angles and double stitching and reinforced corners for knifes etc are great. Plus they are light and dry quicker. Good video.

i got a pair of these after seeing this video and i am sooo happy i did. thanks for the recommendation.
the phone pocket is awesome because it is added on the exterior so if you sit down it doesnt dig into your leg.
the cargo pockets are quite thin which makes it more descreet than some other bulkier cargopants.
    fantastic stuff

The quality of your reviews is excellent and this one is no exception. Anytime I want to see a review on gear I come to your channel first. Also, I really enjoy your presentation style which is like sitting down and chatting with a knowledgeable friend.

Glad to help, boonie. We always enjoy your comments. I really appreciated the one in which you described how tinitus can effect your life. My uncle had the same problem and fought it with white noise all his life. -- Veri
