As a beginner could you please explain how the acrylic inks react differently than using a thick splash of watercolour ? Many thanks.

I'm not exactly sure on the science it's just that they are quite different medium made with different ingredients so will react in different ways

Hey Paul, since I found your TH-cam Channel just two weeks ago I can't wait so see every day one or two or three... of your fantastic videos!
And when I've seen them all, I'll just start over :-D I love your personality and your humor!
Along with your great technique and detailed explanations, it is a pleasure to watch your videos. Actually, I was just looking for inspiration and a few tips to broaden my horizons. I have been painting with watercolor for many years, but always only ordered animal portraits strictly according to the photo. But I also want finally paint freely and your videos were a joy to watch. I would like to thank you very much for your work, it's great! Yesterday I also ordered your book and I will also buy your brushes soon :-)
    Best wishes from Germany, Claudia

    Der Mr. Clark,
I started painting many years ago, but only during my holidays. Later on, during my years as a teacher, with 2 children, a husband, a house and a big garden, there was no time for painting. Now I have 76 years and during the pandemic in 2020 I restarted painting and devellopped a passion for it. I painted after tutorials on TH-cam, but did not dare the loose style of yours. But when I discovered your scottish paintings, I decided to give it a try! Scotland is our "place of longing" and we will stroll around in the Highlands with our Camping car this summer, for the 4th time! In one afternoon I have painted the scottish croft and I think it is not too bad.
Thank you very much for the inspiration! Of you would like to see my painting, please tell me where I can post it to.😊

Must say, when I moved to the Isle of Skye, some 30+ years ago, my elderly neighbour took me under her wing and proceeded to teach my kentish self some scottishness, saying "A lake is English. Thank goodness another that believe as I do to let the watercolours play on their own before trying to lift, put in, etc. I am self-taught because I believed my mother was the artist, I was more into musical instruments. After her passing when I was about 50 I thought I'm going to give it a go. Started with acrylics, enjoyed it but wasn't very good. So I went to watercolours (Mother always said she was afraid of watercolours and painted in oils), What a blast! Watercolours taught me more about colours, composition, etc. You should see my acrylics now!. Now I jump from acrylics to watercolours to multimedia (freedom at its best!) I never knew I could use my acrylic inks in watercolours. Thank you SO much and for teaching me that I can use pastels too. (Did a test drive with that too as well as watercolour pencils.) Thank you so much for your wonderful and informative TH-cams. It is always a "pick-me-up",

The joke is a little like the one in the TV series The Detectives with Jasper Carrott and Robert Powell. They were taken hostage with bound wrists by a remote Yorkshire farmer and his son, father couldn't speak clear English. The boys were worried they were up to something weird when the son translated a line saying "Father sez, you'll be needin' both hands free for a little game we're going to play." It was game of cards. NIce painting, BTW.

Beautiful. This one I will attempt. But splattering and scratching still scare me to death. - We had an 80-year-old Angas in our weaving class. He had the idea to give himself a Wake one day and invited all his friends and relatives to make speeches to find out what they thought of him. His wife was in on it and made him a small coffin filled with his favourite Scotch brew. He lay down on the sofa and spread a white sheet over himself. All went well until his son who is a priest came and announced loudly.' What have we got here? Now, do we say a prayer or have a Scotch'. 'Scotch', screamed Angas and threw away the sheet. - Angas used to be a solicitor, his father used to be a 2 DollarJudge travelling the villages. Bartering was against the law, money scarce on farms and he was sorry for the struggling farmers. Hence $2 no matter the offence..- He was kept busy travelling on goods trains around South Australia. Once, he got hungry and made the goods train stop at an isolated Pub. There he was told in no terms that they were busy with wedding preparations and had no time to make him a sandwich. 'Well', he said 'Then I'll make sure your licence will be suspended next time.' He got his sandwich.

You brought happy tears to my eyes.. laughing too hard. I'm about there now.. I'm currently snowed and iced in...been out of my house one time in the past two weeks.. that was a fast run to the grocery and back trying to beat the next storm... and won't be able to get out again till probably Saturday or Sunday (I HOPE). I'm resorting to having long conversations with my cat, and she's not to keen to hold up her end.

I enjoyed painting this beautiful scottish landscape. Came out a bit different, as the drawing is a bit defferent direction of the fence. Thank you Sir Paul for the lovely video. I love all your tutorials.

Hi Paul. Im a complete beginner with watercolour your tutorials are very helpful. I just bought your book today. Im looking forward to reading it and getting stuck in when it comes tomorrow. By the way i think irn bru will fall below coke in Scotland after the sugar tax. They don't make the good stuff anymore so most people pay the extra money for coke instead. Thanks for the videos.

Dropping the Burnt Umber Liquidex into the bank area at the end was very effective, Paul, leading one to believe that gorse bushes were growing in the bank.

Just finished this one. After my Mexican House and Provence Waterfall, I decided to go light on this one, so my bank is more taupe and less splattered. Turned out all right. Has that sense of quiet solitude I was after. Thank you again Paul for another wonderful tutorial.

Extremely interesting and helpful Paul. I should have watched this at the beginning instead of just jumping in ! I'm using an old pad belonging to my late husband, Chiltern Wove - is this suitable for starters ? Love your paintings at the end. Oh, to be able to do those !

Great video Paul - that's another one for the list of those to try.
One request: could you perhaps do a lesson that includes a figure or two within one of your lovely landscapes. I always thing that pictures with people in make them just that bit more interesting to look at. I know you've already provided some lessons that include figures, but another one would be appreciated. Perhaps just some simple characters in the distance - nothing too difficult. :-) But thanks again. Your videos are really great; Bob has got nothing on you.

Loved the music and the video. I’m working on the video of the beach hut, but will be giving this one a go too. I try to study the videos for a bit, take notes and then when I feel ready I give them a go, I don’t try to follow the video as I paint, I use the video as a reference tool, so to speak. Interesting use of the inks, and exciting to see how they responded, really enjoyed seeing that magic. I may have to get some inks now. 🙂 suggestion for future videos, a small winery with some vineyards, even a row of vineyards with grapes. Just a thought. The joke gave me a good giggle. Much appreciation!

We had another snow last night and when I looked out the window guess what I saw, that's right Paul Clark's penguins.
