Waking up to see -ladybugs- ladybirds in the morning is such a treat. With my coffee that is. 🐞☕ (I'm Canadian. But "Ladybird" is such a superior name for those little beauties!!")
I have been watching your videos literally every day and mimicking you with the way you flick the brush across the paper for over a month. Today, l decided to give it a try at the 1st ladybird painting . I did it under a 1/2 hour as you said, and l was quite pleased with the results l got considering my skills are at a beginner stage your tutorials are fun to watch, easy to undestand and follow.
I've been painting for almost 5 months now, with no previous experience. I "hire" a youtube tutor through Patreon for a month, then move on to another one. So I'm following you now, and wow, am learning a lot. I'll definitely leave a tip in the jar. You are gracious to share all these tutorials for free. Your paintings are more advanced than what I've done, but you give lots of help along the way. Somehow you make me feel more like an artist instead of a copier. Thanks for posting and for the fun along the way. Loved the human ladybug!
Aloha Paul and your dear lovely Margo, from the beautiful Big Island, Kona Hawaii. I've never heard of them called Lady Birds but they were always a favorite of my Momma's. They are near and dear to me and my Sissies ❤. I will give them ago when I get back home to cold, wet Woodinville, Washington. The tulips fields will be popping with colors soon. Mahalo! 🌺
I liked the second painting better. With too loose, I tend to try to make it look better over and over again. LOL. I tried using my Princeton Neptune b rushes, but they hold too much water for my liking or lack of control. Thanks Paul It was fun. PS. All the FB postings of Ladybird are so good. I want to get beyond the stage of just copying the tutorial and creating my own version. Great Job everyone.
I can’t believe that I’ve been so busy I am just now watching your video. I’ve been feeding baby squirrels by hand, cleaning my house, teaching a class, making a paludarium with a waterfall for my turtles, feeding baby squirrels (oh I said that already.) lol they take up a lot of time. I really enjoyed this video. Ladybugs are good luck if one lands on you. Maybe it’ll be lucky to paint one too. I thought the 2nd painting was incredible with all the details. I hope I get a chance to try it.
So loved this. It's like soothing spa time to listen and watch and absorb. I am reminded to revisit FB - so many inspiring works of art - bravo to all.
All the pics for the challenge are so good that it was hard selecting which one to pick for painting. Unfortunately don't have much time for painting now. But with this tutorial, I am going to attempt at least these two paintings. Thank you and Margot for making me keep in touch and motivated in these tough times. God bless🙏
What an interesting experience. As a 'loose painter' I just kept thinking on the second one, "Okay. We can finish up now." Cheers to you detail painters. You have stamina!
Love your paintings and your humour! You are letting me enjoy creating art, even though I never thought of myself as an artist - your videos are so clear and concise!
Loved that video. Thank Margo for flitting around in her ladybug costume; it lifted me out of my funk today, and thanks to both of you for making this crazy world a better place.
Oh I love this Paul and I love Ladybirds - a real sign of Summer and great for keeping the greenflys/Aphids off the roses!! I look forward to painting these two. Thank you so much. Great tutorial.
Great tutorial, very entertaining, too, and the wine looked delicious. Thecway my attempt has turned out, anyone would think I'd been drinking thd wine myself! Haha. Thank you for all your efforts, Paul and Margot. Truly appreciated.
nice video that shows a serene moment and the beautiful English countryside which is not always serene! Your lady COCCINELLA (that's what we call her in Italy, I live in Mestre, opposite Venice) brings your watercolors to life!
I have just started following your videos and love them. Recently I ordered a book off of Amazon that had good rating as a tutorial for beginners. I just realized that it is your book! Love both!
I really appreciate you telling us what colours you are using as you use them. That's something most of the other videos I've seen fall down on. There are two things in a painting that I find brings a painting to life. That is the very dark shadows and the white highlights. Thank you for the great videos. You are painting my favourite subject which is ladybirds. They are part of my own signature on my own paintings. I have subscribed. 🙂
Both the paintings of the adorable ladybird brightened up my Wednesday immensely. Our Facebook group is very active too! Thankyou Paul for this tutorial which I must try out. Waiting with baited breath for my brushes to arrive from London with my friend. The package had reached the London address on time. Thankyou again.
What a great and delightful tutorial! To top it off besides all your techniques, the paintings at the end were wonderful showing how you encourage your followers to use their own ideas. They were wonderful! Thanks 🎨
I really enjoy your tutorials but I especially love the ones where you contrast loose with tight. I love seeing what your face group members produce too. Impressive! Brightened my morning🌻 Nice outfit Margot 🐞 That brightened my day too 😃
Thank you for all your lovely tutorials. I would love another about colour and the properties of the different pigments, as I struggle to really understand this 😊
Another most enjoyable painting Paul. I prefer this to the photograph you used for inspiration. Definitely one I hope to try. Some nice ones from the Facebook group too. There is certainly some talent out there. Looking forward to see what you are going to paint for us next week. Thanks again for a super painting.
Loved this! It's late here in Michigan and I was just going to watch the first part but I was hooked. So nice to see the works at the end too! We call them lady bugs. It didn't hit me until about the middle that you have a different name for them. Thank you and Margot too!
Love this video-have learnt a lot from both paintings. BTW, and do check this, the flower in the second one looks like it *might* be the bud of a pink scabious flower (they're also rather more attractively called "pin-cushion" flowers, and look very different to the final flowers). Hope this helps, and whatever the flower, many thanks, this was great!
You two do make make me laugh, a great sense of humour and good fun 😊 Lovely tutorial again, just on the last one and it's making me work for it on the flower, think I'm getting there though thanks to your guidance - big hugs to you both ❤
My favourite is the Volkswagen Beetle in Ladybug design. It's Marienkäfer in German btw. Very easy to speak like Hahnemühle ;)
Thanks for sharing Claudia 👍
Wonderful and love seeing Margot in the garden💜💜
Cheers Katherine!
Great video Paul, you and Margot are such a laugh 😂 you always brighten up the week, beautiful paintings, thank you 😊
Thank you so much Pauline 😀
Another super tutorial, did you know that the collective noun for a group of ladybirds is a loveliness. Very apt I think ❤
I didn't know that Sue, how great is that! - thanks for sharing! 🐞🐞🐞🐞🐞
