Some stages are detail work, some are grunt work, and some are a mix of both. Sanding is grunt work and painting is detail work. It’s just hard. Couldn’t do it for a living, I think, but it’s doable when you’ve built the whole thing and are nearing the finish line. Thanks for your comments. I think a good dinghy is my next nautical project.
Yeah, noticed the weight loss then you finally said something about it. Both the boat and you are looking great. All this "grunt work" and "detail work" is really impressive. I guess it's held together by commitment. There are so many parallels and metaphors to other life challenges in this project, you could probably write a psychology book after you're done. 😀
To be fair, I decided in January to lose 30 pounds so I could wear my nice suit to my daughter’s wedding in June. The boat helped! What a ride, I’ve loved every stage and I’ll love being done. The parallels to life in general are not lost on me. After the last 10 years of managing a staff, I was really missing projects. Boy did this quench that thirst!
