I heard it's not that the Empire dissolved in new canon, but that Palpatine had a plan in place to destroy it from within after his death, because "an Empire that fails to protect it's Emperor doesn't deserve to exist", and he had no plans of dying by old age anytime soon.

Rogue One in my opinion is also really good. It's certainly not perfect but it too has that Star Wars feel to it and I love the thematic emphasis on hope and self sacrifice. It's definitely the best out of the 5 movies Disney has made. Really Disney's real problem right now is that it lacks proper leadership and direction. Anyone with half a brain could've known that trying to have 3 different directors direct the individual portions of a trilogy would be a bad idea. It's why Last Jedi does not at all feel like a sequel to Force Awakens. It's honestly just a standalone movie trying to pass off as sequel and it shows. There's just no cohesion in the new trilogy. Honestly at this point I'd rather they give the reins to Filoni, the dude has the experience and has actual passion and love towards Star Wars unlike JJ and Rian. He'd easily be able to churn out quality films if given the time and resources. Here's hoping Disney learns from its mistakes.

What if the reason Baby Yoda is aged at 50 is to try to explain why his species is rare and why they're always force sensitive? The extremely long aging process gives them more time to learn at a younger mindset to develop strong force powers ti defend themselves

The child (“baby yoda”) also displays a high level of midiclorians, so your theory could be right. My comment was to correct the fact that long life does not directly relate to how powerful/ sensitive to the force an individual is.

Best to think of legends not so much as "a universe, discarded" but rather as "a drosspile to sort through to recover leftover or overlooked gems".

There's so many possible explanations. Maybe baby yoda isn't actually 50. Or they just age very differently to us. It's totally possible they'd develop very slowly for 50-60 years then have like a yoda-puberty for a decade which makes them fully developed at 60/70.
Maybe their growth is determined by some external factor, like the force. Let's say they grow slower but age more rapidly when the dark side is strong for example. So bby yoda grew slowly because of the dominance of palpatine since his birth, whilst yoda grew to adulthood quicker in a more peaceful time.

The books and other content are so good because you can make so many stories about it ( my fav series being x-wing). There are lines of dialogue in Mandalorian that mention something of a "Purge" committed by the Empire against the Mandos.
Looking at Rebels and Clone Wars and seeing how different their culture is (including no apparent taboo about helmet removal), it seems to me like in the BBY years Mandalorians were as the new canon: human and based in blood-related clans. However, likely after the events of Rebels where they sided with the Alliance, the Empire attempted to remove their culture from the galaxy. After which desperate measures were needed to keep the culture alive.
This ironically parallels the story of the reptilian Mandalorians: they opened their culture to other races and people after their own dwindled to near extinction.

    • @artemisorwhatever9828

I'm curious to see where they take it. It isn't flawless as no star wars work ever is. It is infinitely more satisfying and sensably written than the Disney Farce Wars movies. They actually bother to worry about silly things like character motives, and seeing to plot holes before the story gets stuck in them. Imagine that the Mando trained since childhood and he still isn't a perfect warrior. "Cough and glare at MaReySu" they even did "strong female characters" better in the form of the blacksmith and Cara Dune.

Basically they took the "Dark Empire" in the comics to its extreme, where most Imperials never stopped being loyal to Sidious. Their "fall" on Jakku and Operation Cinder were more or less a front to make it look like they had crumbled quickly. Hell they practically flat out say the Imperial remnant are fleeing to the Unknown regions in both Battlefront 2 and the Aftermath Trilogy. Honestly it'd be a surprise to see more Warlords than what we have now.

Like you said, it seems unlogic that the empire just disappeared and made a much greater army, the first order. And they did not even explain why and how the new republic failed. For me it was really hard to follow, because apparently the rebels did not change their position since they were still a resistance in the 7th movie. Although they won the battle of endor and in legends started to build the new republic.

We only ever see yagle in the phantom meneace and theirs no explanation as to what happened to her. So my theory is, YODA and yagle had a child, were afraid of what the Jedi would think, and yagle left to raise the child, but died and then the child was left floating around from place to place until the vents of the mandalorian. It’s far-fetched, but the time fits in well and links up pretty seamlessly, if you see a flaw in this theory please point it out to me

One great thing about the Mandalorian is the score. It’s innovative and poignant, and perfectly fits the space-cowboy (space-samurai?) feel of the story. If you’re not a musician or into film scores, you may not think about it, but just consider for a moment how different the Mandalorian’s music is to John Williams’ scores for all the Star Wars movies. They’re like hallmarks of the old tradition of orchestral film scores, brought to the near heights of their medium. Meanwhile the Mandalorian strikes out apart from that tradition with an eerie, sparse, electronic score, nearly the opposite of the lush acoustic sound of John Williams. It’s kind of brilliant.

the Mandalorian: far to great to be part of Disney Star Wars. i consider it part of Star Wars Expanded Universe/Legends.
