Just bought a 2000 ranger and I wanna get the TRQ led headlights. Realized after having it for a bit I noticed I can’t cause the headlights are different shapes. Somehow just got lucky and found a 2001 grille on marketplace. Thank you!
i have a 96 and when i got it the front was already swapped with a lile 2007 front but the bumper was missing so i went and got a bumper and then found out the mounting brackets on the frame are different any ideas on what i should do to make it fit?
Rhere is a few write-ups on the ranger station forums about how to mount a newer bumper to a pre-98 truck. I believe it involves fabricating a plate, or u can cut the mounts off a truck at the junkyard, heard guys swapping sides, driver to passenger and they line up on a 97. Give it a try. Will take some cutting and welding.
@sbsauto I got a ranger and it was a 2000 and someone has already done this conversion on it. But I don't think he wired it correctly. I had to replace a part insthe turn signal lever. Just to get the brights to work and now that they work, it seems like the turn signals Just get bright when I push it forward and the main headlights get dimmer . When I pull back on it to flash the brights. It seems like the flashers get bright and the regular lights don't dim?. Help. I'm wondering if I use my turn signal with the brights on is it going to blow a fuse or burn wires?
Interesting, sounds like a broken multifunction switch. Or they wired the headlights crossed with the signals. All i did was take the extra running light bulbs and removed them... this caused a "fast flash" so i installed an LED signal relay under the dash to fix the signal speed. If you've already replaced the multiswitch (lever that operates the turn signal and activates brights) then i would look into replacing the 2000 headlight/signal harness and start from scratch.
Thinking about doing this for my 2000 and do you know if that black piece you trimmed can be taken off of the donor truck and do you have any tips for doing it to do it right the first time?
@@SBS_AutoI went out and bought the header panel grill and all that but I still need headlights which I’m gonna buy new and was wondering if the 2000 and 2001 headlight plugins were the same because I’m gonna get a drl headlight that has its own turn signal and all of that
I have a 1998 and I’ve got the 04+ Hood and an 07 grille on it with the stock headlights , do you know if I will need to change the stock header panel if I wanted to fit 01+ headlights or 04+
I went ahead and changed the header panel because it was damaged. Im pretty sure you need to use a 2001+ header panel for everything to line up though.
@ManuelCastillo-rk5ur no, if u took the extra bulbs out, it would flash fast, which is why you would need the led relay. Idk why yours isnt flashing fast if u took your extra ones out 🤷🏾♂️
This video made me realize I’m missing the center part of my header panel behind the grill for god knows what reason, excellent tutorial too.

I appreciate it, little by little! I got the 5.0 in the 97 ranger, will be posting the swap video soon. 🤘
so what’s the list of stuff you had to purchase or get for this swap? i’m thinking about doing it myself! looks great!
2001+ header panel, 2003 grill, bulbs, headlights
Thanks!
And LED signal relay.
@@SBS_Autodid you buy any new hardware/clips ? Or everything from the 2000 fit w the new front end ?
@@ManuelCastillo-rk5ur used clips from whatever came with the 2003 stuff combined with 2000 stuff i had.
@@SBS_Autoappreciate the fast replies man, I’m doing exactly what you did as we speak

Is that the radiator support assembly you swap for the newer year ?
No. Did you watch the video?

Would I need that relay if I’m not converting to LED?
Yes. Because it would flash fast only using 2 of the 4 bulbs.
@@SBS_Autodidn’t end up needing the relay for some reason? Nothing was flashing once everything was installed

Very cool. Where did you get the grille and light set?
Car-part.com
And lights from amazon
So it's pretty much just the header panel, grill, headlights/side marker and the matching bumper?
