I’m left handed and this video helped me. Thank you, Mikey! ^^ I’m passing from a Wacom Intuos S BT to this one (quite the big change). I’m super excited. Too bad I cannot afford the Wacom Cintiq 16 but no matter 😁.
Can I just say, I’ve been watching a lot of your reviews, as I have to return my current tablet to the highschool I’m graduating, and your narration is by far my favorite. I can’t watch other reviews without skipping through most of it but I always watch all of yours😂😂💚💚 I also appreciate that you actual walk through set up
This is the latest review of a year old product. I'm not so interested what the product can do but I'm more inclined to research on glitches. I stumbled on some issues about crooked and jagged lines and it seems it was corrected with firmware updates. So, I ordered one and I hope I won't be disappointed. I'm a photographer on dryness mood and I thought I would try sketching and painting. I own a very old Wacom Bamboo graphic tablet I use to paint on some of my photos. I can't wait to try what it's like to draw directly like on paper digitally.
This tablet itself was really nice with a metal backing, a nice crisp display but the more I used it the more problems it had. For some reason the touch bar would either only zoom in but not out or out and not in and for whatever reason scroll the menu for what screen you want displayed. I would scroll and it'd suddenly shift to the other screen, might be a software issues but I installed and reinstalled the latest drivers, No luck though. the pen itself felt a bit cheap, when I pressed down it felt really strange like it was stuttering or grinding plastic. which is kinda disappointing seeing how nice this tablet was initially.
I know the feel with the keyboard hand compared to the hot keys. Happens when not much option. I was playing Solitaire while listening to this, but I had to pause, finish my game, and fully watch the video, due to you always being so engaging. Love the review, Hope you're not pushing yourself and you're doing good. ^.^
1:58 to me that looked like preparation for executing a 1000 years of pain on someone. Awesome review. i was considering getting this or maybe the BOSTO 16HD (for my first sketch table), does the screen size really matter?
Odd, either I didn't get the glove with mine or I just didn't see it in my box. Either way I love this tablet. It is a little hard to get used to given that i'm left handed and i've had to mess around with the calibration pretty often but overall yeah i'd definitely recommend this tablet, especially for it's price. I also finally got around separating my screens so that I can have TH-cam on one screen and my drawing program on my tablet's screen. Took a little bit of fiddling around but it works.
nice to know, i made the right decision yesterday then. i wanted the 15.6 but they didn't have that in the brazillian warehouse so i just went with the 13 instead. probably more than good enough for me honestly.
Wow!!! You are truly the best! I really like your content!! You are one of the reason I started to draw again. Keep it up! I'll be uploading my first drawings in my channel, hope you can give me some inputs. Thank you! Definitely a fan :)
Mikey's reviews may be reviews in trade for receiving a free tablet but I still watch them because Mikey's voice is so calming to hear and it's still pretty detailed compared to most free reviews, haha.
My father got this for me for Christmas (he usually asks me exactly what I want and I normally get that, he doesn't like to guess what I want very much lol) so now I'm just watching reviews until Christmas comes around. Lol.
This is the best tutorial/review whatever u wanna call it i have seen for this Pen Display. It was smooth and nice, maybe the art at the end was too much for me 😂 but thats not the point. I watched 10+ videos and none was that helpful. Arigato!
I agree, yet though, 22" is the king in terms of professional productivity, accuracy and comfort. IMO. And currently (specially in XP-Pen) is in the best ratio of money/capabilities. Or a Huion. But with anything non wacom (heck... for my work, even with Wacom) I'd strongly recommend using a hardware color calibrator. They are not as expensive as one could think. As professional material, some software licenses would cost more in the past than an entire PC + a 22 display tablet + hardware color calibrator. Luckily, today most great painting PC apps are around 50 bucks, so that's (usually) not an obstacle anymore (and if it is, you still have the free Krita!).
I just thought about this- I bought it a short period of time ago and got it right before school started. But now that I think about, I unplug and plug my laptop setup everyday. 🤔 Im sorry if you had a stroke reading this lol
I have Huion Kamvas Pro 13 for half a year, and I can assure you, this tablet has VERY BAD calibration. To be more precise, the cursor doesn't follow the tip of the nib, but it offsets further into the pen. So if you tilt your pen - your cursor will offset itself. And it is much much worse near the corners. You can try re-calibrate it yourself - but it will be 100% worse than default. There's shared profile on reddit with so-so calibration, but it doesn't fix tilt-offset. Also if you don't update firmware - your pen will wobble like hell.
Does it happen to you with a XP-Pen, Wacom or other brand ? I mean, that issue even happened to some extent to my old Wacom Cintiq 12" WX. Indeed, near the borders it was a nightmare to pick menu items. And the calibration was far from perfect. One of the main issues why this is sort of amplified is due to tablet size. The people love mobile, yet 16 is way better than 12 or 13. And the superior tablet size to really work in more than just character art work (more complex compositions) is totally 22". Heck, even for just character artwork.
@@3polygons This is the only screen-tablet I have. On huion's subreddit there are several examples and comparisons with other models. Whole KAMVAS line-up has this tilt-offset problem. As for other manufacturers, you can try to look for other reviews with close-up cameras (I saw one very good for XP-pen), and try to follow cursor-to-pen positions (spoiler: none other tablet manufacturer I saw had this tilt-offset problem and most of recent models have no problems with corners).
@@gladiko2364 Yep, actually my Wacom Cintiq issue in the borders was highly minimized quite long ago. But is important to notice that if the whatever brand and specific tech has issues with it, in larger tablets it is less noticeable: A friend with a 21 UX just did not have the issue, and is from the same time. An extra reason why 19 - 22 is better. XP-Pen is what I tend to recommend. Amazing price/quality ratio. I recommend with it and any alternative to use a hardware color calibrator (to other readers, that's not for calibrating the tip position, is for color accuracy!) as in several in-depth reviews, both XP and Huion have less than desirable _default_ color accuracy, if that's a thing, lol (even if they look intense and vivid) while Cintiqs come with a decent default color calibration. I don't really care as I calibrate all my monitors with i1 Display Pro (colormunki and other cheaper models are perfect for the task, too). So, is not really a factor for me. Currently I would not buy a cintiq and use it without getting it to my own preferred color calibration point. Is as important as calibrating the tip position.
Hey, I have to ask. Do you think there's a chance that you received a defective unit? You see, I'm interested in getting one of the three following tablets. Either the Kamvas 12/13, The Gaomon PD1161, or XP-Pen's Artist 12. I've had an overall good experience with a Huion tablet before and heard generally positive reviews for the Kamvas 12/13, so I'm thinking of having it be my first choice, but your experience with the 13 is concerning to hear. But what do you think?
I have this one and i'm very happy with the results! Thanks fot this review :D Btw, which brushes are you using at the 8:23 for sketch and 9:10 for inking?
