    Ford produced three cars between 1932 and 1934: the Model B, the Model 18, and the Model 46. These succeeded the Model A. The Model B had an updated four cylinder and was available from 1932 to 1934. The V8 was available in the Model 18 in 1932, and in the Model 46 in 1933 & 1934. The 18 was the first Ford fitted with the flathead V‑8. The company also replaced the Model AA truck with the Model BB, available with either the four- or eight-cylinder engine.
    The 1934 Ford (the Model 40B) was not as substantial a model year change as the previous two years had been.
    1934 Ford Model 40
    Noticeable changes included a flatter grille with a wider surround and fewer bars, straight hood louvers, two handles on each side of the hood, smaller head lights and cowl lamps, and a reworked logo. The bare metal dash insert was replaced by painted steel.[7]
    V‑8 output was again increased, this time to 85 hp (63 kW), and the four-cylinder Model B engine was in its last year, as was the Victoria body style; nevertheless, there were fourteen body options, the Tudor being top-seller.[3] The standard three window coupe was deleted.[11]
    Deluxes had pinstriping, again twin (chromed) horns, and twin back lights.[7] Inside, they got more elaborate wood graining.
    1934 Ford in which Bonnie and Clyde were ambushed and killed.
    The 1934 Ford V-8 is infamous as being the vehicle in which the notorious Depression-era bandits Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow were ambushed and killed.[12] On May 23, 1934, the two outlaws were traveling in a stolen 1934 Ford sedan in Bienville Parish, Louisiana, when a heavily armed law enforcement posse opened fire and riddled their car with bullets and buckshot, killing both and bringing an end to the infamous gang.
    1934 Model 40 Special Speedster
    Edsel Ford's Model 40 Special Speedster
    Edsel Ford commissioned Ford's chief designer, E.T. "Bob" Gregorie to design and supervise the construction of a personal sports car based on a style of period sports car Mr. Ford had seen in Europe. A special two seat roadster was built from aluminum and installed with a flathead V8 engine. Only one was built and is currently at the Ford House museum.
    A deuce coupe (deuce indicating the year "2" in 1932) is a 1932 Ford coupe. The Model 18 coupe with its more powerful V8 engine was more popular than the four-cylinder Model B coupe. In the 1940s, the '32 Ford became an ideal hot rod, being plentiful and cheap enough for young men to buy, and available with a stylish V8 engine. Rodders would strip weight off this readily available car and "hop up" or customize the engine. They came in two body styles, the more common 5-window and the rarer suicide door 3-window. The iconic stature of the 1932-vintage Ford in hot rodding inspired The Beach Boys to write their hit 1963 song "Little Deuce Coupe" and they also named one of their three 1963 albums after the car. The deuce coupe was also featured as the pivotal street racing car in the 1973 hit film American Graffiti. The car is also famously referenced in the 1973 Bruce Springsteen song, Blinded by the Light, made popular by Manfred Mann's Earth Band in 1977.
    Typical of builds from before World War Two were '35 Ford wire-spoke wheels.[14] Immediately postwar, most rods changed from mechanical to hydraulic ("juice") brakes and from bulb to sealed-beam headlights.[15] The "gow job" morphed into the "hot rod" in the early to middle 1950s. A Halibrand quick-change rearend was also typical, and an Edelbrock intake manifold or Harman and Collins ignition magneto would not be uncommon. Aftermarket "flatty" (flathead) cylinder heads were available from Barney Navarro,[19] Vic Edelbrock, and Offenhauser.

    I built this back in 2008 I believe. I built it up using John Deere inspired colors. Tamiya TS-52 Candy Lime Green for the body and John Deere Yellow (think it was Krylon Field and Implement spray paint) for the roll cage assembly, chassis tubes, bumpers, and wheels. I can try to get pictures of it some time and show that on the hpiguys Facebook page.
    As always, another fantastic build by the fast builder himself. Keep 'em coming Chris.

    Yep, Chris that Testors does the same to me too, but the 70’s for me. Ain’t it funny how certain smells can bring back certain memories, nice but funny, I guess?!? Cool build there though, I’ve got the 06 release of that kit, still in the box and new, the “Street, Stock & Strip “ series.

    Nice paint job. I own all 4 of these ORIGINAL ISSUE Kits from the 70's I kind of hate the re-releases and the kits I held as collector items lost a lost of the value. Guess I might as well build them. I also have an original issue AMT - AMTRONIC it has the full cardboard diorama and light green tinted glass.

    Awesome!! Have you been watching Hagerty"s Red Line Rebuild of a similar race car from that era? Some of this stuff was still running when I was a kid. Not in any sanctioned competition but as Saturday night specials during the Central Wisconsin State Fair in Marshfield. The Sunday race featured the big guys from Iowa driving late model cars. Probably mid to late 1950s. Great looking cars but not as sharp as your model came out.

    Is that oil pan on backwards? I know that's how the instructions show it going on, but I've never seen a car with the bulge in the front.

    Great build as always! Just wondering have you ever found that future floor polish is incompatible with any brand of paint or decals? You got a great finish with it on this model and I'd like to try it. I use mostly Tamiya and Testors spray paints, sometimes Rustoleum.

    • @hpiguy
      @hpiguy  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not that I know of, but if you apply it to rustoleum before it's fully dry it can make the Future crack later as it flexes.

      I don't display them much. Way way way too many to fill a house with model cars.

    I do not believe the engine is a 428 Ford . The 428 was in the FE engine family . The FE had a huge intake , where the pushrods went through , and narrow cylinder heads . The valve covers go over the intake(pushrod area ) and heads .

    • @davidjohnmiller4849
      @davidjohnmiller4849 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Looks like a hole at the back of the intake , my guess this is a bbc and the distributor would go at the rear

    • @hpiguy
      @hpiguy  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, as spoken about in previous builds MPC has you place the magneto in the front if the body behind the engine is a Ford and in the back if the body is a Chevy.
      90% of people will never notice and it simplifies molds, etc.

    Any difference between using Sharpies versus Gel Pens? your thoughts are welcomed.

    • @hpiguy
      @hpiguy  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sharpies are great for larger areas that I need dried right now.
      Gel pens are great for small details, finer point.

    • @hpiguy
      @hpiguy  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Creates shadows where wanted, and a good base for the color coat to stick to.
