      Tires in a size range from 32-36 and something that is durable but not super slow. I also like tubeless and I prefer a tire that adds some comfort instead of a harsh ride. Ability to maintain traction on wet roads is really important and longevity. If a tire can not last me a couple of seasons then that’s disappointing. I am a 200lb rider who rides a lot of long rides during the summer so the larger sizes are really nice!

      With this being the main part in contact with the road, I am very demanding on tyres. Speed, puncture resistance and confidence on the bike. Had P zeros before and they fitted the bill. New bike came with different tyres, and I don't throw away unworn tyres, so will stick with them for a while. They are good anyway.

    About time they added 32 and 35 tires to the mix. Everyone is not a racer and some of us are heavier than others. If they are faster than the old ones and they are durable that will be awesome. I’ll buy a set for summer.

    I bought a second pair of these to fit in Spring as I liked riding them. "try to put these tyres on my bike" is the last thing Alex says - good luck with that mate - because the latest pair I bought are so tight to the 21mm rim you need a vice and a jack to fit them. No chance of getting them off if you puncture on the road! AVOID unless you have the Hulk riding with you.

    Wondering how the new layer copes with plugs if you need to repair a cut. Sounds like a potential improvement if the inner layer isn't a regular weave. I do hope they bring the new tech to their already excellent gravel tyres.

  • @stuartdryer1352
    @stuartdryer1352 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I love Pirelli tires and I prefer them to Conti's for several reasons ( an important one being that they are infinitely easier to mount on the side of the road). However, your viewers need to know that when Pirelli calls something a Race tire they are serious. In my experience over the last several years I have found that the Race versions of their tires are extremely prone to punctures and you really want to save those for your race days. And since the majority of GCN viewers don't race I strongly recommend getting the Road versions of their tires, which are very good in about every way even if they are slightly heavier and have a slightly higher rolling resistance than the Race versions.

    Interesting, but that’s pretty bold talk from Pirelli. I’ll wait for an objective review from Bicycle Rolling Resistance before I swallow that claim.
    BTW, the Conti GP5000S TR 25 is shown by BRR to have a resistance of 10.1 watts at 80 psi, while the previous PZero Race 26 is at 14.3 watts. Even with 24% savings, they still don’t quite get to the Conti (10.7 watts). So they beat themselves and are close to the benchmark, but no compelling reason for me to switch from the Conti’s (unless I win a free set).

    24% increase in speed sounds like it can shorten riding time in a race with possibly 30 seconds (or more).

    • @stephen_101
      @stephen_101 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes you can use inner tubes with tubeless tyres, no problem at all, but you will use a little more power to maintain a given speed versus running no tube. Also, most wheels can be converted to tubeless compatibility. Muc Off do a "ultimate" tubeless conversion kit with all the gear you need to do it. Happy riding👍
