If you think about it, songs were always telling a story in a musical fashion. At some point, it feels like it got away from that. Sure, some just repeat lyrics over and over which is boring... but some do the same and they are made for live shows (to get the crowd into it). Maiden always told stories, y'know?
My band (No Difference) opened for these guys on the tour right after this released in a closed grocery store in Kansas City. Such an amazing show and the guys were really cool too. They stood inside and watched our entire set which is pretty unusual for the headliner.
Recorded on a Tascam 8 track Portastudio. Essentially an album recorded on a cassette tape. Mixed on HiFi VHS. Yes. A fucking video tape. And the quality is still astonishing.
I was at the Berkeley square venue for the the part of the album that was recorded there. I was there to see Faith No More. Didn't really know about Primus, but Les got hit in the face with a shoe in the middle of a song said "ouch" and kept on playing. LOL.

Apologies for depriving myself a deeper dive into this band. I'm frankly ashamed I never gave Primus a fair look. That said, please forgive me y'all. Of all of my favorite bands: The Who, Zeppelin, Soundgarden, REVCO, Ministry...and so many more (including all the shows I saw at City Gardens), these guys are on an entirely higher level than any band I've ever listened to. Around 1991 when I was an undergraduate at UConn I went down with friends to Toad’s Place in New Haven to see Fishbone. After some pre-show pizza eating and beer drinking we got to the show as the opening band was starting. Once we got through the ticket line I had to make a beeline to the restroom.
