Just a suggestion. Instead of using shift use alt. Alt key can be used as combination key and is close to the thumb which makes it more comfortable. Also considering that we have macros there are more than enough keys to not use the last section of keys that were suggested.
Hi thanks for this guide I’m looking to get into classic cata this helps a lot. Any tips if I have a mouse with 9 buttons. I’d like to use my main spells there.
I also noticed that a few abilities of note arent included in the keybinds yet they show up on your weakaura bar. The abilites are blessing of freedom, blessing of protection, blessing of sacrifice, blinding light and blessing of spellwarding.
Dude, you are the single most helpful WoW creator in existence haha. You cover EVERYTHING a new / returning player would need. I absolutely appreciate you and your efforts, man. Thank you.
Wow! You are saving my live. I restarted after more than 7 years not playing wow. Setting up the keybindings and get a clear UI at the start is so important!
I started playing again last week since cataclysm came out back in the day! It's so overwhelming and for now im trying to get my UI and keybinds done before the new update drops. Can't really play much cause of limited time. Would love to have a mentor on discord or sth with screen sharing to help me get it done quicker 🤣
Just wanted to let you know how amazing you are.
Your content is some of the best I’ve seen in TH-cam. It’s so obvious you’ve put in a lot of work to help other players and it just looks so smooth!
thanks for the support!
ESDF + the mouse binds you mentioned, and W, R, T, G, and Y are my tier-S binds. My situational binds for CDs, defensives, offensives and interrupts are bound to Q, A, Z, V, B + 3, 4 and 5 with shift modifiers. Like you said at the beginning of your video, the core concept works with both the traditional and alternative hand positions. Cheers!
ESDF is the only true way
same also switched over to esdf many years ago for wow.
ESDF for movement is literally S tier. Hand already wants to sit in home position for typing. Just makes so much sense.
ESDF opens up not just 1234QERF to S-tier but instead 2345AQWRTG as S-tier.
As an old Quake 3 player, ESDF was the only way to go. I really don't get how WASD became the default in all games.
I think ESDF is the better way to play. If I could go back in time back to 2004 and tell myself to use ESDF, I would. Unfortunately, I'm too old of a dog to change my ways from WASD. It's obviously never too late to change and learn ESDF, but try telling that to my brain. Huge props to anyone who plays ESDF- you guys know what's up.
This video was exactly what I i was looking for. I recently returned to WoW after 18 years, and this is my first time using keybonds. This video was INSANELY good and providing me a direction and method to grow in the game.
Thank you.
I use E,S,D,F for my movement. E Foward , and D for Backpedal ( I mainly Tank ) and use strafe left and right with S & F. This moves my left hand over a little allowing me to reach more keybinds. While still being able to use shift, ctrl modifiers. I play all classes too, I have a corsair scimitar. SOO Good :) This is informative!
Was going to comment this because this is the way. I've considered using rdfg even. Those 3 extra binds make a huge difference.
Also, alt binds with your thumb are super easy to press. Ctrl pinkie is a bitch, for example alt + qwraf-1234 are all very comfortable binds for me.
do you tab target? or click/cursor over?
I really love this setup. I'm going to try it. It gives me access to so many single press keybinds without having to rely on shift + (x) all the time. Thank you!
@@skkim0217 I use a combo of both but rebound my tab target to nearest enemy to the " Q " key instead of I think Tab that's it's default. So i just have to use my pinky finger to tab target when i need to.
@@ShyRaiGaming thx, much appreciated info
God-Tier Keyboard Bind [ Immortalities ]:
Shift + Space-Bar
You missed this one by accident. This is the single most usefull thing I ever found :D
Use control and spacebar also. Been using the spacebar for years. Makes for fantastic binds.
I use this for my mounts :)
ctrl space for flying shift space for ground mount haha, also, b4 b5 are on many non gaming mouse, the wheel is INSANE for keybing, you have 6 binds just by scrolling with modifiers
Nah I didn't like it, I couldn't jump while I was holding shift modifier for other things, I like being able to jump when shift is down
@@CAWC971 u can bind same at a macro, don't need 2 keys for it. so when u cannot use flying mounts, you will cast ground one.
As someone starting WoW for the first time this month, your channel has been by far the most useful. Thanks
Consider getting a gamepad for playing games on instead of a normal keyboard. Something like the ZSA moonlander, Azeron Cyborg, or the Razer tartarus. They are kinda pricey but will save your hand and tendon health later down the line. The ZSA personally helped me a lot with my tendonitis.
Great, complete & really helpful guide as always.
What I love most about this is the presentation. The way you showcased keyboard on one side & potential binds on another, splitting them based on reach & assigning as per priority... it was all really well done. Hats off to you mate.
thanks for the support and the kind words!
@@quaziiwow to be honest presentation could be improved by not having a "filler" video as a background, it takes so much space and is not optimized for best communication with viewers
Good stuff! I've been playing since December of 04 but didn't learn to keybind until Legion. What a game changer. I was my guild's MT in Vanilla, and in hindsight can't imagine how we got through it. We beat Ony, MC, ZG, and AQ20 with me tanking. Now that i'm tanking again in SoD, dealing with multi-mob threat in dungeons is so much more manageable.
I use 'S' as move forward and 'X' as move backwards (ctrl + x is my swim/fly down, or sit... I rarely use it, but it's still easy to hit).
This opens "Q,W,E,R" as a single row of S tier hotkeys, as well as "~,1,2,3,4" as A tier keybinds.
I found that 'F' and 'C' and also keys that are super easy to hit, and even 'Z' is a very easy to hit key for the somewhat less common spell.
Combine that with mostly just the Shift modifier gives me 24 keys that I barely have to stretch my fingers at all for. I use the Ctrl modifier for some things. I also have an MMO mouse, so I never have to click a spell ever. Everything has it's place.
Quazii, you are an absolute gift to the community, and you have the best tutorials around no matter what the material you are trying to teach.
You dont do any favors to your hand by switching your keybinds that way tho, the A keys have no directional difference to S meaning S to A are both on top making it easier to miss click in the heat of the battle. I had tried this myself once in the past, but it was really inefficient. You're also losing 2 more S tier keys. But if that suits you then it's fine.
Years ago I swapped to S as forwards and X as backwards. It's a much more comfortable resting position for my hand.
I sympathize with all the things you said here, I'm happy to hear someone else runs this setup! Haha
I tried swapping to ESDF instead of WASD cause it was much easier to transition from playing a game, to typing in chat. There's also the added benefit of freeing up a couple keys on your left, and making more keys on your right more easily accessable.
@@-ZeusLeague I think using ESDF is superior to just using S for forward and x for backward.
Totally agree with everything you said in the video, but one thing I personally do is keybind similar spells to the same keybinds. So for example kick is always 1, movement is always 2, aoe stun is 3 etc. I've found this to help a lot if you play many alts.
I do the same. Interrupt on F, My big defensive (i.e. Iceblock) on Shift-R. Not sure why but shift-backwards feels like a defensive stance and I use it on every characetr lol
Try rewatching from 2:17 where he says exactly this.
I am doing the exact same. This way I can easily adapt to twinks and different spells.
he said exactly that bro
@@elsn1p33r4 Did I really miss that? Nevermind then lmao, either way it's a great informative video
Subscribed just for this and was stunned at how much amazing content you have. THANK YOU!!!
I've found all your videos insanely helpful, thanks for taking the time to put together these resources for us. 🙌
Coming back to WoW since not playing since BFA, I realized I need to step up my game. I've watched a few videos of your videos and it's really making me rethink how I can play the game and be more efficient than I used to be. Super helpful!
MMO mouse with shift+ and control+ key binds for each row has been immeasurably helpful for me
same mouse with 12+ buttons on the side. I only use my keyboard hand to press modifiers such as Alt and shift. that's it.
Even a regular gaming mouse with 2 side buttons and mouse up/down/middle and modifiers shift/ctrl/alt gives you 20 keys on your mouse, it's more than enough for any class
Using an MMO mouse and more importantly developing the muscle memory to use it properly is like playing a different game. A much much better game
@@ghostfacedninja1000 correct. I only use my
Keyboard for WASD and control and Shift. Nothing else. My mouse handles all my abilities and with the muscle memory that my
Interrupt is this certain button. My builders are here. My defensive are with Shift. My offensive are with control. I can’t ever not play without a mmo mouse. To the point that I bought 5 as backups because eventually those side buttons stop working with the constant abuse they get daily. All those button presses eventually add up.
My hands are too big for any MMO I've tried, have to stick to keyboard!
I've been following you for ages. Using your UI as a tank, using your profile as a healer. I love your Plater profile for my colourblindness. You may remember me from Twitch chat but this video is amazing for me. I thought I had a great Keybind system however how using the mouse wheel up and down has freed up most of my keybinds to one level without using modifiers.
Thank you very much.
i actually do remember you in my Chat - thanks so much for the support since the early days (: I really really appreciate the support.
As a washed up gladiator thinking about getting back into WoW for TWW, this is by far the best keybindings guide I've seen. The google doc makes it so much easier. Thank you!
Amazing video. Such clear explanation. I would like to add something I've changed recently that has actually improved my reaction time, instead of using 1,2,3,4 for the most impotabilities and E,R,F etc. for the fillers I actually do the opposite, because those keys are incredibly close to our resting fingers.
as always love your content. I was racking my brain trying to figure how to go about doing this and you made it look easy as far as the layout is concerned
Dude. You are a lifesaver! Such good content for a player coming back after years
Awesome video as usual! You and I think so much alike! I've had my keybinds set up in a similar fashion for years now. I also use an MMO mouse because I believe it's a must-have. You're limiting your effectiveness otherwise. I even use the SHIFT key as a modifier, just like you do.
I do have my movement keys tied to ESDF rather than WASD as I took typing in school -- your index fingers are supposed to rest on the F and J keys (which is why most keyboards have little nubs on those keys). Using ESDF also gives the added benefit of putting more beneficial keys within range of your fingertips -- which means having even more effective keybinds. This plays a huge role in my efficiency, particularly in groups and PvP.
I put my instant rotational abilities on my mouse button grid. Any rotational abilities that have a cast time are on my mouse buttons as well but are accessed by holding down the SHIFT modifier key while pressing the coordinating button. I then can put the extremely important buttons like interrupts and heals on my most accessible keyboard keys because those are the abilities you need most in a pinch.
I also use an addon (Bartender) to set up my hotbar buttons onscreen. As you alluded to, I mirror the button layout of my keyboard and mouse buttons so I have the visual representation, but can easily move abilities to other buttons, if necessary, by holding the SHIFT modifier key while dragging them. I have never hidden my hotbars like you, but I guess I could try that at some point.
Finally, I use the ALT modifier key for opening windows like my bags (I use ALT I for my bags. "I" for Inventory; ALT S for spellbook, "S" for spellbook; ALT C for Collections, etc.). I use Backspace for Reply.
I like how this video is 13:37 long.
That so leet! Thanks Quazii
Doing gods work. Thank you quazii. I have been watching a bunch of your videos.
ive been playing WoW a long time and have no been playing very well.
your Weak Auras and now Key bind guide will help me level up IRL.
Glad to hear it. I'm here to help level you up IRL.
Well I stick to my Layout but it’s a nice video 👍
1-4 for builders
5 for stuns
MMO-mouse for spenders/ movement and def-cd
F1-F3 for damage-cd
Sidenote to the mouse: there are 4x3 buttons on the side, one for each group of spells and on top an extra button for ground Effekts like DnD or infernal strike
Hi there, im fairly new to WoW and ive found your guides extensive and super informative. Appreciate the good work youve put out for newbies like myself. Ive even decided to pick up Protection Paladin since youve made it look so fun with such a good ui and macro settup!
Your guides have been amazing. Ty for taking the time to make them looking forward to more!
Never seen it mentioned in any keybinding guide - use SharpKeys to turn CapsLock into a modifier. CapsLock is my Left-Alt, so no more weird thumb under the hand maneuver. Super comfortable to use CapsLock and the Q-G block or Shift and the A-V block, keeping your pinky in the same relative position to your other fingers.
Also has the advantage of never accidentally turning CapsLock on.
Great advice. Watching this, having played for 15 years, feels great knowing ive been keybinding like this since late wrath. I can not stress enough how much of a game changer adding shift and ctrl to augment your s tier keys is. WoW goes through cycles of button bloat as devs trim and mix up classes. getting comfy with those keys really helps you play all the classes from DH to Shaman.
a great addon for bindings which are not really time sensitive is OPIE, it creates a popup rotational menu where can put in your spells/macros/items and have them easily accessible
I have been playing WOW since 2007. you are my new WOW Guru! thanks for your videos!
I JUST found these guides like what i see though probably won't use much due to me using my mouse in left hand and use the arrow keys for movement, but reviewing so as to improve things like this. and i have been playing since F & F Alpha (first log into wow, max level had just been raised to 10 and you could ONLY be a dwarf and they were testing the flight points from stormwind to ironforge and back).
Interesting setup!
Since vanilla I've been playing with my resting fingers on QEW instead of ASD, which makes the distance to the F1->F4 keys much shorter. Which means I tend to use them for defensive cooldowns. I also use alt as a modifier as I find pressing it with my thumb quite easy, but for some reasons I dislike shift-1->shitft-4 and tend to avoid them.
I also like to use the numeric pad for non combat abilities.
I would also mention that moving with the mouse by pressing the left click + rick click is more precise and more relaxing, and allow you to instantly move in any direction.
Perfect timing man, was just talking to a mate about keybinds and how he needs to change to more efficient ones as described in this video. 👍🍺
instead of bring a action bar to remember binds, you can simply add this to your WA. And about mouse buttons, I use the most used skills on M4 and M5, in my case, Multilate/Ambush and Evenom, its good because it do not interfere in our mouse like pressing 1-4 does and every mouse have these 2 side buttons. And about your tip about bind the same effect key to all classes is great, i talk about this with my friends... my kick is always "C" for an example. To finish, a tip for the readers here... I setup my keybinds in the keyboard order so if i have 3 bars with 12 keys each, my first top right bind will be "Q", skipping one slot, to the right, the next will be "E", next will be "R", below "R" will be "F" and there it goes... At the extreme right of the action bars will be mouse binds, like Shift m4 and m5, below it ctrl m4 and m5, and below it m4 and m5. This is good too because its fast for the brain to associate the location of the keys in your keyboard related to the position of it in your action bar.
youre an amazing guy putting all this together.
I almost never post on any video I watch. However, this one deserves it!
Thank you very much for this sheet and all the help you provide people with.
you are so very kind, thank you for the kind words
I believe you are like a God of WoW to casual or to hardcore players. Well done and thank you for every video you upload.
Thx for showing, I'm doing something similar already, but picked up a few really nice tweaks and nice workflow how to go about binding a new class/spec. Eventhough the spacebar is always for jumping I highly recommend binding it with shift/ctrl/alt modifiers for other stuff!
This was a fascinating video, and it's definitely something that's not covered enough by wow content creators. I still play with the very first WoW mmo gaming mouse from 2008 or 09 (I'm on my third one now, hah), and my movement abilities are bound to the side buttons, so character movement is done with the right hand. During Legion, I switched all the action bars from the keyboard over to a Razer Orbweaver Chroma gaming pad, with Alt bound to the thumb button as a modifier.
I always do my big CDs on shift 1, shift 2 etc. R is interrupt, F is taunt, 1 throufh 6 is my main rotation etc
Great advice--my game got soo much better when I found strafe.
Bro... this guy is sooooo good :D Turning my ugly ui, low fps, bad keybinds and much more... into something i enjoy daily now. 10/10 already recommending.
I am mounting up Shift+S, this is crucial keybind for me, and this way is really simple and quick.
I've been playing for 16 years, made countless toons on dozens of servers; retail, classic and private. I have exactly TWO keybinds that I assigned for all profiles.
(F) is "interact." Much easier and faster than finding my pointer and clicking.
(0) on the keypad is my fishing key. I have it set up for casting/catching all in one. No bobber hunting/clicking!
All my combat spells are placed on the action bar and triggered by my gaming mouse keypad. Everything else, like trinkets and CDs, are placed on other bars and clicked with the mouse. This allows me to activate all my combat abilities with just my thumb. Aside from any jump mechanics, which I COULD bind to my mouse too, I can clear all content with just one hand on my mouse.
I just find it much simpler and quicker. And none of that awful sounding "key spamming" lol. I only press what needs to be pressed exactly when I need it. Maining Warlocks all this time has taught me how to time casts and durations down to the 10ths of a second 🙄
Teacher to teacher: thank you, you're incredibly clear and concise!
I play with a Glove80 and Razer Naga with ESDF to move, so my S-Tier for easy-access is massive. It includes all of the numbers, -, =, A, Q, W, R, T, G, `, Z, X, C, V, and B.
I also have shift, alt, and ctrl all accessible in any combo using just my left thumb due to the Glove80 keypad, and any combo or single modifier is equally easy to press. I consider any modifier (or modifier combo) plus any of the previously mentioned keys to be my "a-tier" of bindings.
There are no lower tiers for me since everything is so accessible and ergonomic. I just make sure to put similar abilities across classes and specs on the same button for muscle memory (T is short cooldown personal defensive, = is interrupt, shift-anything are filler abilities, etc.).
For anyone with spare cash wanting to upgrade their setup ergonomically, I highly recommend the above!
great, clear presentation. really like the analytical approach. thanks
Been looking for a video like this for a long time.
Thank you! this has been something I wanted for a long time, and its so hard to find! Perfect, S-Tier discussion!!!
I use a little diagram of a keyboard with each key having 4 sections to color in (for mod keys). I color it in with a bucket fill tool and it helps find and remember available binds.
Also, MB4 and MB5 are good, i use MB5 and shift+mb5 for next/last target. Leaves tab open for a really comfortable bind.
It gets even better when you can write macros!! For example, you can write a castsequence macro for Keg Smash and Breath of Fire so that you have them on a single cast bar.
All of this is accurate unless you play druid, i highly recommend your forms be on mousewheel keybinds. Example cat is always shift mouse up, bear shift mouse down, ctrl up is boomy/treeform, ctrl down is travel form. Regular mouse is as follows up is always a charge like skill, down is always an execute ability.
There is an addon called KeyUi that shows your actions bar in the format of your keyboard that helps the set up process.
I play WoW for 15 years and I aproove this message. I use the same style of keybids.
Another thing you can get is a usb pedal and bind Alt to it as it makes for way easier modifier binding with the key. Just use your foot instead of awkward thumb placement.
Fantastic guide, very well explained with good reasoning. I've been playing since vanilla, and think I will change a few of my keybinds after this video!
Good info. I'm a leftie so I don't keybind that side of the keyboard - that's for all the non combat stuff. I do put all my keys in a similar fashion using the NumPad, and modify w/CTRL. Always knowing a self heal or cc is on a specific key is helpful. I do like the insta-cast on the mousewheel, may try that! Thanks for an informative video.
I use mouse only movement to free up QWEASD for in combat skills. For strafe, i use the forward page/backpage on my mouse and middle mouse button to go backwards. Ive also removed any non combat keybinds (character page, LFG, friends list, map, etc) over to my num pad to further free up the meat of my keyboard for in combat skills. I rarely use shift/alt modifiers with all the open space in my keyboard.
there is also the option to bind 3 mouse bottons as shift control and alt so you use the mouse as a modifier and just s and a tier buttons
Love it. I have a slightly different approach to the "A-tier". I have offensive CDs on variations of Alt+1 to Alt+D and the defensive or crowd control on Ctrl+1/D. Works really well.
You can also use a key pad like a Razer Tartarus or Logitech G13 (not in production anymore). These let you move and use abilities at the same time without having to do finger gymnastics.
Tartarus is a complete shit and completely inviable for wow
@@Ignan-Randel I don't have an issue with mine. I don't think your statement is 100% correct. It's personal preference.
This is honestly so awesome! Low key would be awesome if someone went through and put all those in for each spec for the lazy people and the beginners xD
A nice one to consider, a UK keyboard has a \ key to the left of z so that's another nearby keybind that you can use
you can also use your keyboard software (or windows powertoys) to rebind caps lock to something like ctrl so it's easier to hit from WASD area
very good, i see a lot people with default keybding , using their main habilities 1-9
Interesting! I bind A, S, D to Abilities and only use Q,W,E for movement alongside my mouse. I never backpedal with my dps characters as it’s too slow, only with my tank. Oddly enough I made B my backpedal. A bit of a stretch for the thumb but I’ve gotta used to it.
Side note: if you want to avoid hitting unintentionally, just pop that key right out of the keyboard! No more yelling at the group because you didn’t notice you had it on 😂. Seriously though, I did that and haven’t had the problem since.
I have a gaming mouse with 12 side buttons on it. I use my main spells on 1-12, with interrupts and/or defensives at 9-12. Then I use cc's, healing, cd's and other defensives on shift- 1-12. Then moving on I use other healing spells/items and buffs on alt- 1-12. I also use control 1-12 on misc stuff. I also use opie and have Q keybound to opie for mounts. I have E keybound for targetting. Then r and shift r for utility/tradeskills. F for combat items/buffs (potions, class specfic buffs etc) and T is bound for heartstones and other travel items.
I wish I could like this video a gazillion times. So freaking good.
thanks for the support and the kind words!
Why did I never think of using the function keys for the menu items like social and dungeon
I have naturally set up similar keybindings across alts the more ive played, movement on R and shift R, defensive on G, cooldown/trinkets on X, ASD as alternative to 123 for heal abilities. but recently I found a macro that changes abilities based on if you have a mouseover ally or if you're targeting an enemy and as a healer main it has changed the game for me. Now i have hard cast heals bound to same button as damage rotation but defaulting to heals and I can just move mouse to change what rotation i have on my main bar. Suddenly I am a huge fan of the way healing has changed in dungeons and I love the hybrid dps specs like fistweaving when i hated them before
Agree with most, but you can take it one step further. That you actually map a key to a specific effect. Like Taunt, Interupt etc. across all classes you play. As an example i always have interupt on Q, Single target important spell on E and AOE on F. I do like having movement abilities on mouse, mostly I use MB4 and MB5 for this. Very good video BTW. One thing to mention, the buttons V,B,N are also A tier or at least B, the thumb is very close and always positioned there.
I learned years ago to use my mouse for movement and unbound the S which I keep for my interrupts. I started as a rogue and found that paired with my naga was great
I even use the same kind of keybinds across games! My tilde key is assigned to mount on WoW, TP on DOTA, TP on Diablo.
I keep all interruptions on the same key. And my movement key like dash and blink on same key for muscle memory
Move movements keys one to the right, so it’s E, D, W and R. Then, with your hand one key moved to the left, you can use your pinky on Q, A, Z. Everything else just moves one key to the right, so you just added an additional 3 keys easily available to you.
This was so helpful! I hit subscribed and plan to learn more. Thank you
Moving with QWE instead of WASD is the way to go imo and makes keybinds areound it so much more comfortable
I use shift + space and ctrl + space , it feels so intuitive that area effects around me are binded to those (like thunder clap or Thrash)
spacebar is also a wonderful bind for spammy spells, offloads a lot of fatigue to your thumb
I agree with all of this - and have done pretty much all of this for years - the only difference for me... my modifier key is Alt... i can't press shift + something mid fight... my hands just wont.. but... my thumb rests on space/alt so that is super easy for me to reach and use!
u can also use mouse wheel up and down and click. that i use mainly for my dmg rotation
I am long time ret pally player who tanks on the sides who click his rotation since start till now, most of my rotational buttons are done through mouse, though i do have ''oh shit'' and situational button on binds via Vuhdo (mouse over). For minority who are much MUCH more proficient with the mouse then your crippled left hand, binding ability via the mouseover route can be beneficial for ya as well, in additional to what Quazii has shared here. For example my WOG is on right click and LOH is on middle click and my rotation goes on 100% becuz our mouse hand can react so much faster then our left hand. GCD limits your ability to press something so as long as you can zip to the nameplate (vuhdo in my case) and middle click (LOH) the name, with practise your mouse would be at the next rotational button before the GCD from your previous ability is up.
And yes some of us, our left hand is basically ''crippled'' and we always fat finger buttons with left hand. It's a small handful of us but it works well for anyone struggling with left hands.
NagaX and similar with 12 buttons under the thumb.
Once I tried it, have really hard time to go back to traditional keybind.
Combine with Shift (pinky) and Alt (Thumb) easily as left hand is purely movement only
Top up with Shift-left Click / Right click, Shift+Wheel-up/down and you got far more option needed for any class
I got a Naga to combat button bloat on the classes. There's far more than ever. My problem was I kept hitting the wrong button as 12 seperate buttons in a 3cm x 3cm space is just tiny. Practice makes perfect I guess but I couldnt stick with it.
Well, because i am one of those mmo mouse snowflakes. most of the key rotational abilities are on the mouse and... not necessarily the ones accessible by wasd
Core Tank: 245
Spender:1, Shift+1
range: 0
mitigation: r, Shift+r
heal: 9, Shift+9
Interrupt: 6,
Alt interrupts/AoE int: Shift+6, CTRL+6, Alt+6 (Druid... have a lot of... options sometimes)
Soothe: Shift+2
Dispel: Shift+4
Speed/movement boost: Keypad 6
personal heals. class major cd, lock rock, potion: Middle Mouse, Shift+MM, CTR+MM
Battle Rez: Shift+X
Normal Rez: CTRL+X
---
Mount Ground: z (travel form druid)
Dragon Riding: Shift+z
Alternative flying mount: Ctrl+z
a few more i may have forgotten but basically. because i primarily use the mouse keybinds, i can throw all the stuff normally near the wasd hand over to un reachable buttons without loosing accessibility. the entire rotation can be done with one hand if needed,
But yes, having key keybind buttons the same across all specs and classes makes playing them easier.
My Range, melee, and healer may have different core buttons but they all have the same interrupts, dispels , movement, rez mounts personals
Great insights, and extra credit for the spreadsheet! Thanks!! Liked and sub'd.
I use an Azeron Cyborg keypad. It gives me 26 keybinds without ever needing to move my hand or press control/shift. There is a learning curve of a couple weeks, but it has drastically changed my game play.
One thing I've been meaning to relearn on my Boomy is proper key bind mapping. This was my first character and I put my dots on q and e, while this is great when standing still, its very common to dot on the move, so they need to be moved to my mouse. Also, I can't imagine someone going from BM where there are like 4 core rotational abilities to something like Arcane mage where you have ~12 core rotational abilities. Macros significantly lighten the load, but still.
Your video will really help me a lot... Very nice guide... I will be watching out for more of your videos....
im glad my idea for "jank" keybinds arre considered efficient thanks to this video
Might be unaccaptable for some but I also use "S" key for S++ Tier binds such as interrupt.
Back pedalling might be valuable for tanking but i`ve noticed that strafing out of mechanics is usually much more efficient.
Quazii the goat with the FRESH cut
I guess my keybinds are kinda weird. I put shift, Ctrl, and alt on my mouse with 6 side buttons. Then I use 1-4 as rotation. Shift 1-4 as short CDs. Alt 1-4 long CDs. Ctrl 1-4 for everything else. Q and E are interrupts and defensives. R and F are other utility. G is health pot. Z,X,C,V are mobility and other less used utility. 5, I use for aoe zones like healing rain, efflorescence, death and decay. There is some variance based on class but this is what I found works for me.
Same here... but idk, maybe im gonna try this new ways
I remember back then, in the "good old days" on a normal mouse, my mouse wheel was for warrior stance-dance. :D wheel up Battle Stance, wheel down Berserker Stance, mouse3 Defense Stance. xD For the most of my playtime I used an MMO-Mouse. And with switching from PC to Mac, I switched from Razer Naga to Corsair Scimitar Pro, since Razer does not develop Mac drivers anymore. x)
I personally dont use the keyboard for movement other than strafing with Q and E. Then i keybind wasd to rotational abilities along with every other key stratching to Y. Also add in shift and control modifiers for each keybind and ive got like 40 available keybinds at any given time. Also, if youre healing and use things like clique, you can bind healing spells to be the same as damage spells and usually get away with only using 5 keybinds for like 10 dofferent abilities.
Good video overall though. While I've played for 19 years and have naturally made my keybinds very efficient, the idea of tiering them in general makes sense. Good stuff.
If you ever do a comprehensive key rebinding exercise, I recommend creating a new character and spend a few hours (up to a week) levelling it to build the new muscle memory in a zero stress environment. Easy.
+1 - This is exactly how I approached my re-training after binding based on this guide. So much easier to get your fingers conditioned when you are only given a few abilities at a time and can meaningfully play the game with those first few buttons.
Brother you are the only steamer that has made me a better player I achieved 3k this season because of you
I've been using xcvbn a lot as they let me use WSAD while pressing.
Usually I don't use 1 and 2 as it would remove my finger from W (or weirdly reach with the ring finger).
But I bind 3, 4, 5, qert
I have always used ESDF to move around, it opens up alot more keybinds in a closer range. I only use this in WoW tho
it sounds so simple but damn man! you're a Genius!! thank you so much!
