    👍👍Thank you very much for excellent guidance with regard to pruning of mango plant to get more branches and also cutting pot at the bottom for more space to roots under the ground 🙏🙏

    Hey Naveed! in the video you mentioned burying this pot about 6" in the ground and leaving the rest of the pot sticking out? did you ever do that and how is the tree doing with that method? I really think these mangoes need to be planted above grade to breath and be healthy so I've been planting mine that way as well. I come back a year later and cut the rest of the pot sticking out of the ground away and add some more soil around it. Basically I end up with a mango tree that is planted on a large mound above my clay base layer.

      Hello Ryan, I have not cut the pot yet. It is next to the swimming pool and pipes run below the ground. For that reason, I have not cut the pot yet. The area where the pot is not big. I am thinking of moving the pot away from the pool and closer to the house wall to avoid the pipes, and then I may cut the pot.
      Your planting method is good. Good to know your mango trees are doing good. Thanks for watching.

      Yes, I have a few mangoes on it right now. It will produce heavy next year. I wish I had ground space to plant it in the ground. It is really a great mango.

    Hello Naveed
    When your Valencia Pride Mango in the Pot has fruits, how often do you water it?
    During other times of the year, when it is not fruiting, how often do you water it?
    Thanks

      Hello Bill, regardless of fruit, I water daily in summer. In winter, I water every other day or every two days, depending on the temps. It is very important to keep the soil moist at all times for healthy trees and good growing.

    What type of fertilizer do you use?

    • @TheNaveed787
      @TheNaveed787  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      VIGORO - Citrus and Avcado Plant Food - 6.4.6. Available in Lowes or Home Depot.
      But fertilizer has nothing to do with how this tree looks like. It is the soil and daily watering.

      @@TheNaveed787 what is the best soil for mangos?

    • @TheNaveed787
      @TheNaveed787  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Andre best soil for mangoes is soft sandy soil which can drain fast. Any hard soil or soil which creates water logging is not good.
      When I plant my mango trees, I fill the hole with 50/50 sand and garden soil. Same for the pots.

      @@TheNaveed787 thanks! ill try that!! one other question if i may. how soon after new growth pushes do you cut for branching?

    • @TheNaveed787
      @TheNaveed787  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@drephiillip Short answer is as soon as the growth hardens off and leaves turn full dark green you can tip the branch for branching. But the answer to your question is not straight forward. It depends on time of the year, branch thickness, if you want the branch to fruit next season or not and area you are in, for example Florida or Arizona etc.
      In Phoenix, I only prune the branch once a year. Our season is short, if I prune twice, there is not enough time for branches to get strong to be able to support more branches. I used to prune twice a year but now just once a year.

      Very good tasting mango. Huge in size too. The tree is an aggressive grower and tree gets huge.
