Unbelievable how much information I got from this video. I just got a mango graft, it's going in a pot. My winters get to about 5°C for a few weeks of the year.
Helpful video, thank you. I was told to remove the blooms from my too young mango trees except for the top 3 (ish) blooms. That if you remove them all it can kill the tree. What say you?
Thank you for all of the great information! Is there a slow release fertilizer that you recommend? Do you use any gypsum or sulfur? Do you have a similar video on growing tips for avocado trees?

I have found out that ambient temperatures and consistent weather will have a bigger effect on fruit taste than anything you actually put in the ground. Thank you for your support friend :)
I was told that az has salt water and mango will die. They don't like alkaline soil. It prefers pH below 7. You have to feed it sulfur , and fish emulsion. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
Why are all your trees next to a pine tree? My issue here in Florida is watering. Trying to figure out when it needs water and not. Every one I've talked to does things differently.
trees are there because it happens to be only open area as you come into my property. I have several watering videos in my channel. It's not rocket science neither it's how one person does it compared to another. Simply water when dry, simple as that.
@@qctropicals so wtf am I doing wrong? One Simmonds avocado died. My other Simmonds has leaves falling off. We've gotten plenty of rain. I never water it because since it has been in we have had showers and then TS Debbie rolled through. I'm thinking it got too much water. But you said previously nothing is going to die immediately from too much water. It takes time. My simmonds is 5 feet tall and I'm thinking it's on its way out the door. different varieties grow at different rate which ones are the most aggressive growth in hot climates with scorching sun like here in central Texas (San Antonio)? I be heard malika and Manilla grow very well in Arizona so those varieties should do well here I’m guessing. Trying to figure out which ones to invest in
Mallika grows slow just like any other grafted mango in my area. Manilla is true to seed (polyembryonic) and for this reason they are not grafted. This is why they outperform any grafted variety. Unless you're willing to "cold protect" your mango every year for the life of the tree, my recommendation is to grow a seedling instead.
Just moved from West Palm Beach to Palatka. No one up here seems to have a mango tree in their yard. Do they grow just south of Georgia? I am sure a mature tree would survive but will it produce fruit?
i have a few grafted trees and a few seedling trees planted in the ground here in West Covina Ca. seedling trees are way better growing and healthier than the grafted ones. my question is, i have a spot in the yard that only gets about 5-6 hours of sunlight per day. all of our other trees are getting sun all day long. do you think a young Kent mango seedling would survive in that area that doesnt get sun all day long?

In terms of cold sensitive, I don't agree! I lost two mangos at temps between 30-32 overnight. NOT 25! I live in Florida. This winter I built a plexiglass greenhouse over it & added two 250W infrared lights from home depot to keep it in the 40's. It has grown a foot in last 3 weeks. Totally budding now! I just hope it does not outgrow my green house before March 31st.
Plants can also suffer more if its cold wet and wind. Its better for them to be on the dry side so there is less water in the plant and roots to freeze. And some plant will die above ground but the roots are still good and will come back.
Your thinking makes sense except for 2 things: 1- dry soil will freeze faster than wet soil (thermo dynamics). 2- A mango tree in my area will take easily up to 2 years to recover from severe cold damage. During this period, minimal growth and definitely no fruit. Letting the plant die above ground is simply not an option.
Your leaves are of different sizes because of different varieties, not because of sunlight exposure. Your tree leaves aren't greener because they're in shade. That's nonsense. That has to do with nutrients in the soil. You're giving that mango tree in the shade way too much Nitrogen. Cut that and it may be giving you more fruit and turn the right color. Yes, there are cold-hardy varieties. Put an Asian mango next to a non-Asian mango and you'll see which one will die first. Please stop giving people incorrect information. I was laughing my head off over here. Yes, I have a mango plantation with more than a dozen varieties, so I know what I'm talking about. I also do my own grafted fruit trees.
sure you do master gardener. I don't base my opinion on just 1 tree or a "dozen". I know the truth is hard to take in sometimes. If you're local stop by and I will show you real time in person proof of everything stated in this video, not just hearsay.
Can you tell us what kind of fertilizer best for young mango tree. Yes it is easy to grow from seeds, but once they get at 2 ft. It quit growing taller or produce new leaves, then later it die back. I don't over water, or under water. I feeds only fish emulsion once every 2 weeks. Any tip?

In Florida most tree died from overwatering
mangos grow like weeds in south florida. Overwatering one in that environment takes months to years of overwatering to kill one.
