    Yes, one of your best ever… the video of Lee just post impact is worth a million. Divot exploding what looks like 6” past the point of contact… no crazy contortions , nice bent shaft lean… and no impression of effort. Just an effortless explosion which to me is powered by the body pulling the arm unit past impact. Perfection!

    The irony is how trying to lose the angles quickly in the downswing actually holds them longer and trying to hold the angles loses them quickly. Makes absolutely no sense how unobservant we really are and how we think that by watching a motion we can repeat it when the truth is that we are not really observing what is really happening. Great stuff Matthew.

    Brilliant, but so hard for me to do, to make contact with the ball. It looks so easy the way you describe it, but for some reason or maybe many reasons I hit it fat or thin or miss the ball a lot of the time. Wish you were in Texas!

      I went through the same. I took care of it by being conscious of the body, mainly the head, and not so much of the arms and hands. You mustn’t move your head up/down or sideways. if your natural tendency is to shift, sway, or bump forward, make sure the head stays level at any cost, as you were at address…I’m not saying that you can’t turn your head/face to see where the ball goes, besides you need to allow it to turn as to not hinder the movement of your shoulders and back. I’m only saying that if you have to move your body, make sure it doesn’t move your head out of position. My experience, if I (inadvertently) move my head N-S or E-W 🧭, I loose the bottom arch and the good solid contact will not be there. After the game is when I can tell for sure that I hit the ball solidly … that’s when I’m home and my elbows, back or wrists aren’t sore from the miss hits (thin, fat, skulled, chunk, etc, etc). I’m not an expert but what I am is not selfish, I like to express and share what works for me. Good luck. 👍🏼

    Great video! The problem is the moves become much more challenging when you are bent over in a proper address position. All those angles and body moves feel different than when you are standing up.

    I believe in your technique and teachings and have been following for over a year, how I can’t seem to find a way to hit a consistent inside to out path with a draw. I can be over the top with a closed face, but I want to start right of the target and bring it back. What do you think I’m doing wrong if I’m trying to go by your teachings?

    • @michaelbroderick
      @michaelbroderick  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Straight is best but simply close face slightly and swing out more.

    Is there a method of doing this if you are lead arm dominant I am totally right arm dominant but swing everything left-handed.

    • @michaelbroderick
      @michaelbroderick  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is a great question. I would say it is the same although I’m better using my right than when I switch to swinging lefty. It’s still all leverage so the method is the same.
      I have suggested to some students with your dominance to experiment and see what does better them. Don’t be afraid to experiment. I bought a lefty club for 20 bucks years ago exactly for that purpose.

      As psychotic a picture as that kitchen paints of Michael my wife could have him straightened out in no time. She believes that every flat spot in the house was designed to have something covering it. Drives me crazy.

    Michael I cannot seem to fold my right arm and keep my left arm straight. I see that you bend your left arm quite a bit. Is it necessary to keep the left arm straight?

  • @chuckross8839
    @chuckross8839 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Mike , Mike Austin was and still way ahead of the swing. Other than your wrong on set up. Your body advances the club , without any action of the hands ., The throw is the straightening of the right elbow . you never throw at the ball. It all happens by letting the body advance left arm. The release is automatic. The faster you shift the further the ball goes. Also head doesn't stay the same height with a driver , if your going to hit up on the ball 3 -6 degree's . All the best players do it . Austin did it and he is the best to ever swing a golf club.

    • @michaelbroderick
      @michaelbroderick  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Austin was good no doubt but his methods didn’t work for me. So I boiled it all down to what was common to all successful swings or methods. Trackman data for instance disproves the hit up idea.
      My favorite striker btw was Mike Dunaway. His mechanics varied a bit from Austin. Austin was built like a tank even in his 60s. His boxing background no doubt. I never liked the swinging the bell concept is all. Just a matter of word interpretation. He wasn’t wrong mind you. I just couldn’t relate to the analogy.

    • @chuckross8839
      @chuckross8839 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Interesting, you say that, Austin swing, if anyone listened to what they both said, 125 lb soaking wet person can hit it 300 yards . There is nothing hidden, nor not told . Your saying Austin swing is not swinging up or down level. Track man doesn’t lie, hitting up is longer and straighter . Mike did both, based on his set up. Dunaway was no different. Problem with Lee, is he talks , like he is doctor of the human skeleton. He surely is not . Most people get nothing out of his rambling. He is a stack man. Not the best way to swing or teach . To each there own. Watch Mike hit a one iron, now that is pure motion . Releasing the snot out of it . Simple supple quickness. How he did it, is easy . He repeats how over and over . Easiest on the body.

    Im a fan, but looks can be deceiving. Shoulders, hips are opening from the top of the swing, left shoulder going up etc, impact position looks like any other. Might feel different but end result is pretty normal... for any great golf swing.
