Michael. I’ve watch this video several times and have been doing the drill. I’m hoping tomorrow on the course this may lead me to my ah hah moment. I hit a few balls indoor and when I swing at a moderate speed I feel like I’m making great contact. When I try to speed it up it seems like my hands and arms are doing the work and contact is not as good. I also just found your video “when the dust settles..,” and I’m hoping to work on those speed concepts next week when I can’t play and then put it together with this arms video. I hope to be at a swing tempo and swing I like soon. BTW my wife thinks I’m crazy trying to keep getting better at my age. I guess non golfers would never understand.
I've been following and using Michael's instruction since last Fall. What he is saying about getting the "whole thing" rather than focusing on a part or a position is very important. Find where the power comes from...and you can learn to direct (and control--though I keep flying greens these days :-) ) later, with practice.
One of your best lessons yet, Michael! I respect your perspective as a teacher who has seen and experimented with a lot of techniques and methods and you have distilled that experience into some of the best instruction on the web. Once again, thank you, my friend! Skip
Michael I feel like the power comes from the straightening of the trail elbow and the trail hand sort of pushing from back to front just before impact. Although it is like one seamless movement. Is this correct?
Hi Michael, ( David again ) when I am doing drills I am using an (old) heavy sofa cushion to press the club against when making the turn similar to your video on the counter corner and wall corner . I am now adding this drill that you are showing ,. As you are making contact with the ball is your right heal (foot) pressing against the ground and then releasing as you complete the turn?
Yes but weight shift is all automatic. It just happens. That feeling of the back heel give you the right feel to accelerate through a strike. Speed between your feet.
Yes, that's what I feel, the right is still weighted at impact. But that's not what I pay attention to, it just happens as a result of turning the torso correctly (t1 left, then right)
peter mies I only feel my arm fold up a small turn and then the fold down. I've done it so often that I no longer am conscious of anything but one trigger for the swing. It eliminates all mechanical thoughts and you simply react. Even in a range session don't try a hundred different movements. Just do one but do it correctly. I really suggest doing the 5 drills as well as the board video. Those are all great to get a feels that are foreign to most people and you can get a good result very quickly.
peter mies I had same question.. Last night I found if there is a slight pausewhenelbo hits side and then hips take over a bit from arms and turn with weight. Another key was slight turn of shoulders going back just like tai chi..and side bend more than right elbow drop at top ....my main problem was trying to make it all look so smooth and coordinated and fast..that will come...I have been carefully watching all mike and others tapes for 18months..it would have been better to just watch this one after a week of watching many and make subtle movements not quick...good luck he is best.
I've been following and pursuing Lee's swing stuff for 18 months or so now. Been watching you as well since you started posting and I think (based on ball striking, ball flight and an overall improvement in my full swing game) that I'm finally getting it. There have been a lot of ups and downs. I'd love to have another set of eyes on the technique I'm currently using, to see if there are any details I can iron out. How could I go about that? Is it possible?
Jay Scott you can contact Lee for cmotion at Leecomeauxgolf.net or you can contact me at michael.broderick4@gmail.com on hangouts. I help people there and you can send a dtl and sideview. Principles for both repeat in my videos but there are differences in the methods as well. I'm glad it's all helping.
Bren F Vardon is fine. I can switch grips easily. What I have found though is the 10 finger for me personally gave me more compression. When I first went to it it felt awkward but that later was offset by a different sound of the ball. I squeeze quite firmly with the last 2 fingers of both hands. Btw Payne was Vardon and left eye dominant.
michael you have said before that lie angle flat or upright don't matter? can u explain simply and like I'm 5 years old? in as little words as possible lol
You never cease to amaze me man. Once again, outstanding video.

Hi Michael.....do you feel the pause when the rt elbow comes down to your side?

So simple!
Hi Michael .
Can you use the vardon grip with this swing or does it have to be a 10 finger grip .
Very good video by the way thanks .

Hi Michael .

It sure looks like you are pulling down. You say don’t pull down, but boy it sure looks like you pull down.
Nope
Hand releases 8 inches later
