Having watched a lot of lees videos,it seems clear to me that the his forearms roll on the back swing, his right arm then drops on the down swing, while at the same time rolling his right forearm to square the face and then follow through. all you then need is decent posture. Great striker,
Robert Barnett yes you see the same thing as I do with one clarification that the right elbow drops with the right arm bent so it is below straight left arm. The vertical separation he gets between left elbow and right elbow gives him tremendous leverage. Good eye and agree with you on the rolling forearms and obvious very gifted athletic ability too.
Yes agree, either way I'll be trying this out,it sort of explains to me how small guys can hit as far as the athletes i.e. Ricky fowler v Jason day. Cheers
Lee's motion in a nut-shell: set up weight slightly left, ball center of stance, ball off the club head toe or outside of the club head, grip pressure focused on the pinky fingers; Up Swing - take the club up to the right hand position of a football quarterback about to zip a hard 15 yard pass and you will feel the scapular contraction, forget about extension as it is best not to let the right hand go outside of the right foot Down Swing - go directly at the ball feeling the right elbow pushing out to the ball to remove the ball outside the club head at set up, this will get the pinkies to stand the club up and stop club face rotation at square You can go at it as hard as you want. Beat the shite out of the ground under the ball - genius simplicity and so much power. Leave the analysis of every little thing to the people that do not understand the genius o f simplicity as it is such a dumb way to gain real understanding.
My golfing buddy and I have been working on these concepts for months and they are FANTASTIC. Lee's descriptions are feel-based. Just be patient with them. Lee himself recommends studying Bradley Hughes and Bradley's descriptions of the swing are very illuminating and frequently make Lee's ideas clearer. As we have progressed with the concepts, we keep coming back to Lee's very accurate feel descriptions. Also check out "Bullet Points of CMotion". Because I don't want to miss a single word of anything Lee says in this , and because the audio is not always clear, is there any way to get a transcript? The video quality is awesome. Lee's swing is something to behold. Many thanks for posting this.
You're welcome. Glad you liked it. Someone else posted this video and I like the swing so much that I spent a lot of time studying it. The motion is most important to me and the words less so.
Note to self : kick my fucking ass when I deviate from any of this. lol Good looking swing with solid compression. Looks effortless. That sound at impact is music to my ears. Wow
Thank you. I have a gift of being able to see how to spot improvements in a golfers swing. Enjoy doing it and seeing the joy when someone learns something new about themselves. You are welcome and glad you enjoy what I saw. Was pretty exited when I spotted the commonalities.
“Pay attention to his left armpit, right groin … firmly.” There is cause and effect in golf. I’m sure he didn’t think (for example) “I want my left armpit to do this and my right groin to do that.” They are effects. There are a few, very few, causes-things to do-to produce all the things we could observe his body doing in a swing. Better to focus on the few things to do than all the effects, and not confuse ourselves.
What Jack said was, "you can't release too early on the downswing, as long as you move into your leftside and swing the club from inside the target line" Lee and Jack both get to the left hip pivot as they reach the top of BS...so of course the weight has to be on the left heel for the DS, just as Jack Nicklaus said.
Penick admitted that there's really no single magic move in the golf swing, but this comes close. "To start your downswing," Penick stressed, "let your weight shift to your left foot while bringing your right elbow back down to your body. This is one move, not two."
Hey Rock! Have you tried thinking of this whole phenomenon in terms of balance and self preservation and the automation that Dariusz speaks of? Hope you are well!
+Frank Mcchrystal Yes, I follow Dariusz's blog and like what he posts. Dariusz has helped me a lot in the past so I definitely pay attention to whatever he says. I like what he says in his latest blog about the firm lead side and making the point about it firming up from the feet to the armpit. The body is so much more complex than that with lateral lines, diagonal lines, and spiral lines that I am sure Dariusz knows and he is going his best to say something he can do and others can understand so that is good. I am definitely training my self to get better balance and an automated swing and not jack up my body in the process as Dariusz definitely got to me on believing in that. As I train my body, it is getting stronger and more flexible so I am having a lot of new feelings and thoughts as I learn more. It is difficult to know which ones are the best to go with to improve my golf swing. The human mind and body is very complex and beyond our comprehension...only God knows...so praying to God that I keep improving and get more enlightenment. I really believe God keeps sending people into my life who are helping me and hopefully I return the favor to others too with all of the new knowledge and work ethic that I know now.
Are you going to tell us what that is or just leave me hanging? Over the past 6 years, I have heard from over 100 folks that they had some sort of magic move. There is no magic move that will work for everyone. Everyone has a totally different mind and body which is changing over time so nothing will work for everyone.
Alan, I don't like to pull with my muscles. While muscles do pull on the bones, it is also possible to relax the muscles in your body so the arms can swing the most efficiently. I would rather you feel like your right arm and hand is relaxed and extended so it can swing up and down as opposed to trying to activate your muscles so you can pull slap it. I realize it feels more powerful as a man to activate all of your muscles, but I have found that it doesn't equate to more distance in Golf. What I have found is the more I can relax the muscles in my body by doing a lot of stretching to get my muscles as long and supple as possible is what produces the most distance as well as a smooth looking swing. You will have to really calm your mind and body down to do it and it is a work in progress for me. Thanks, Rock
Right arm can’t fold with the hands outside the right foot. You can’t have the right hand over the trail foot unless the spine is neutral which means the tailbone needs to be over the lead heel and the top of the spine has moved on top of the tailbone. Now you can fold correctly and unfold is effortless. Just like his motion shows, effortless.
why do you self proclaimed analyst want to make things so difficult...he's just doing what he says he's doing, bend right elbow on back swing, straightening out right elbow with "push" motion through the ball on down swing...that is all he's thinking about, his body is only reacting to that motion and that motion only, do you really think he's thinking about armpits, groins, heels, buttocks and what not during his great swing. that is why it looks so simple...because it is, people like you make it difficult...
When he discovered this swing he wasn’t thinking about lots of stuff. He just did what came naturally or he tried a couple of things that produced his swing. It all got complicated and turned into hours of explanation when he was asked to explain what he felt and what each part of his body was doing. The problem in golf instruction is not what people do, it’s their self-analysis and explanations. Sam Snead’s swing was 50 percent there by the tenth time he swung a stick at a rock. The rest filled in naturally. Then came the questions.
comical stuff is this. Do we really believe Henry Cotton, Peter Thompson, Tony Lens, etc, etc, etc. had any idea where or, what their GROIN or ARMPIT was doing??
My mind thinks about the entire human body and how it functions during the golf swing. I don't care what Cotton, Thompson, Lema or anyone else is or was thinking about as they are not me. All I am capable of doing is doing the best I can with my god given ability and working hard which I am doing. Thanks, Rock
When swinging my best, all I do is rotate the two armpits around the axis of the spine, feeling zero movement of the flesh there. Everything else is automatic; no timing or sequencing, and the result is long and straight. Golf swing nirvana for me.
What a wonderful golfswing! He is so connected throughout. Great video!

Yeah, Lee's swing was incredible on this day...best I have seen it.
What an awesome breakdown. Thank you for sharing!

DAVINCI EXPLAINS CONSISTENCY AND CONFIDENCE!
Niklaus same secret move but in reverse ( left side !)

This guy can strike a ball! Is that you behind the camera?
Yeah, Lee was really swinging well in this video. It wasn't me behind the camera and don't know who it was, but glad he taped it.
if you're a right hander who plays left handed can you pull slap with your right hand?

I want some of that!
Yeah, he was swinging great that day. Enjoy watching that video.
Right arm folds then step into the ground with left foot and hit hard ,great action but not as easy as it looks

nice swing
thank you!
I like the video and text comments. It's not too hard to follow or do.

Lee spoke to me for 6 hours straight without me saying one word so there is definitely a lot more going on in his mind than what you are surmising.
yeah!!!!

don't forget about his right nose hairs-geez!
HaHa. Yup, there isn't much that I don't consider, but your nostrils are actually very important to free yourself up.

this is not where you have to look....
HaHa. OK. Spill the beans then if you got somewhere better to look. It is somewhere in his mind, body and soul...
unfold the right elbow
