I've been at work listening to this over and over for about 12 1/2 hours straight. I know its a Stanley brothers song, but he was meant to sing this song. Its beautiful and tragic and I cant stop listening to it. Brings tears to my eyes every time

I wish we could hear Sturgill on the radio. Commercial radio plays the same old mess over and over. When I want to hear a song over and over and sing along with it, because I can feel it. That's when it's good.
This ain't modern day country you young pup...this is how it was written...when country wasn't cool.... and when they were the outlaws that they got tired of being called. This is pure soulful and western. Like country music should be. And there ain't no hair on his chest yet.... they all started that way.

I just love this guy's stuff...he's got that lonesome sound too, that is so indicative of this eastern Kentucky area, and scot-Irish ancestry...our people, because I can tell by his facial features that's his heritage as well...incredible stuff brother, never stop.

im so tired of hearing Mr.Simpson sounds like Waylon, he simply has got his OWN UNIQUE SOUND.. its obviously rooted in bluegrass, & rockabilly, which goes way back to carl perkins early 50's Memphis.. he TRANSLATES EMOTION TO SONG!!!! very Well!
Sturgill's voice sounds similar to Waylon's but he's a tenor and Waylon was a baritone and his instrumental before Sailor's Guide To Earth were heavily influenced by him but most of the songs on those album had kind of Psychedelic vibe which Waylon didn't

waylon wasn't that good of a singer. most people only listen to the popular waylon songs and haven't listened to anything else. he sounds like shit on most other songs. and i LOVE waylon, but he and jessie were not good singers. shooter is pretty good though.
