This dude he had on lead for this session is the Golden Boi. The CEO of Telecastin'. The Chief of Chops. I come back to these recordings when I need a little sauce to reawaken my soul and freshen my leads.
Like a tall glass of refreshingly delectable old school sounding country music. I shut my eyes and was transported back to the late 70s early 80s where I was sitting at my grandpas table listening to AM radio and this style and sound is what I hear playing in the back ground. So glad a friend shared Sturgill Simpsons music with me this morning. I cannot seem to get enough of that old time sound.

It’s a damn shame guys like him aren’t getting more attention or any air time. But he’s not a skinny jeans wearing, fake country douche bag so todays industry looks over the real ones. His voice reminds me of Waylon so much.
I"m a 70 year old rock, blues and jazz fan. Truthfully, I can hardly understand the words he is singing on this song. I ran into him on SNL and have re-watched those videos. I like Merle and some older country but I'm not a big fan of modern country, but I really like this guy. Glad this song is on the CD I just received and looking forward to the other two I have ordered. This guy crosses over because of sincerity and musicianship, talent and energy. This a great song.

Water in a Well - Sturgill Simpson
They say that looks can be deceiving
And there's been rumors going round
One look at me's the same thing as believing
Everything you've heard without hearing a sound
So if my eyes remind you of water in a well
It's 'cause your heart is the stone
I know sometimes it can seem like my mind
Belongs to a child that is grown
But somewhere between you and me I've lost my way
And I've been trying to get back home
Trying like hell but it's too soon to tell
If our love has all dried up like water in a well
Lord knows I've tried to move on
And get you out of my mind
You find your way in to all of my songs
Every memory I can manage to find
Someday if I'm standing on some big old stage
And you're down in the crowd
Trying to tell your friends I used to know him when
But in your heart you'll know it ain't true somehow
Trying like hell but it's too soon to tell
If our love has all dried up like water in a well
I know you see what it's doing to me

The first time I heard this I loved it, but the second time I really listened to the lyrics and found myself almost crying.. it’s a beautiful song.. I’m hoping to see him in March
I had bought a ticket to see him at the AAC but unfortunately covid had to be a thing.......... I honestly hope they can resume the tour after it's all over
Sturgill is so awesome, and the fact that most people now days don't even know who he is, and still call themselves country music fans(while listening to Luke Bryant, Chase Rice, Florida Georgia Line) are so Sad!
His best song ever displaying his raw vocal talent ,, and the guitar work is top shelf
This guy is a true outlaw among today's music scene. Whatever Willie and Waylon and Merle et al had, this guy has in spades.
That sitting on a bar stool pondering type of country . This song is real special all the way through . Its a daily listen for me
Where you acting like a damn fool?
@@BinnySmalls- charlie daniels sang a song about sitting on a bar stool acting like a damn fool. He was boozing his troubles away. I mistook your bar stool comment as a throwback to his song.
Reason to stay alive.........good country music!
This version is so heartfelt and beautifully done. I could weep every time I hear it. This song is legendary status for me..some deep Willie, Waylon and Johnny root right here...keep on keepin on my man!!!
He is the heart of real country music . Love the sound of his voice .❤️❤️
This is such an powerful song, Sturgill has a sound of his own. Gonna set back and drink a beer and listen to some Sturgill tonight.
Back here again to say Thanks for Sturgill. Just saw him and the band in ATL last week. An epic 3 1/2 hr non-stop arena show. This gem was on the set list and was a highlight for me! My friends all loved the show as well
HOW COME I HAVENT HEARD OF THIS GUY BEFORE? THIS IS REAL COUNTRY MUSIC !!
Dang this is so good. You don't hear that sound anymore. Dang!
One of those few who's better in live recordings than on the studio recordings. Dude is just off the charts awesome.
I agree. Just about every live version I've seen (that are mixed well like this) are better. Look at "Life of Sin" from Letterman. Just amazing.
His voice is haunting to my soul. Love it!
THIS SONG HAS ITS OWN SOUL THAT SITS WITH YOU AS WE LISTEN TO IT ❤️💗😘🤗
It's been quite a roller coaster ride, but I've grown and learned a lot about myself.I'm very thankful for your constant love and support always❤
I feel that soul . Sturgill you are the one who has been in my heart 💖 and you know that right 😊 I love it too baby 💞 you guys have been missing me huh ☺️😉 please let us get together and it will be home soon
I feel that soul 🙂
Son, if I had my way, I would lock Sturgill's ass up in the Sun King Brewery forever! Man! that's some of the best of him and his posse!
sure is good music
Sturgill Simpson where have you been hiding? Lord I'm so in LOVE with this music! Can't believe these videos don't have a million views each...hell I've probably listened a thousand times myself. I believe I'm going to buy tickets to his Indianapolis show...or maybe a Tennessee one....maybe both. It'll be worth the drive I'm sure.
I would bet that PA has a decent venue he will make an appearance at
To the 400 plus people who gave this a thumbs down smoke a joint and put in headphones and listen to it again this song is deep!!!!
Those are the ppl that are tone deaf
THIS MAN SHOULD BE ON THE RADIO !!!
This dude he had on lead for this session is the Golden Boi. The CEO of Telecastin'. The Chief of Chops. I come back to these recordings when I need a little sauce to reawaken my soul and freshen my leads.
It is dang good to hear actual COUNTRY music again. Love it.
I cannot seem to get enough of that old time sound.
this is probably my favorite song of all time. my life in lyrics
The greatest thing about music is that take you wherever you want to go or wherever you needed to be or maybe you need just t hear a positive message man God bless y'all don't 😢wha😢 your struggle is is but I got your back
AMAZING voice!! One thing is the songwriting which is excellent, but his unique voice is what makes him stick out for me
Thanks for letting this old man here country music, one more time, knowing it’s not dead
I just love me some sturgill Simpson..this is truest of true country..thank u so very much..from the deepest depths of my heart!
It’s a damn shame guys like him aren’t getting more attention or any air time. But he’s not a skinny jeans wearing, fake country douche bag so todays industry looks over the real ones. His voice reminds me of Waylon so much.
He's retired now...didn't wanna play the game. Fair play to him...I agree btw.
This Guy Is Just AWESOME.. I am Floored!
That's what I had to say.bet u have been through some of the things I have been through in my life
It's been quite a roller coaster ride, but I've grown and learned a lot about myself.I'm very thankful for your constant love and support always
See if you like Tyler Childers, or Colter Wall.
Awesome song!!!! They need to show this dude some love
Lets hear it for Spencer Hooks, for capturing this so beautifully.
He is best voice out there. Period. Helluva guitar man too
Never heard of this guy. Total stud.
Awesome song. Well done.
Who else wishes they did like 20 (thousand) more tracks together on this set?
But the 3 we have on the tube is pretty fucking fantastic.
Big love to each and all.❤
I feel the same way brother. He is unchained in this set. This is fucking gold.
