Tyler is as authentic as it gets and makes grown men cry when he sings. I have yet to hear any song he's sang or written that didn't stir up something, and I've been trying to find fault because I'm kind of a purist.

tomf429 I love hearing my dad tell Vietnam stories. He don’t do it often so I cling to every word he says, wishing I knew the man(or boy, rather)he was before he went to war. He won the lottery thing and they pulled his #his senior year of high school. Him and his best friend. My dad had a full scholarship to play baseball for Texas a&m but instead him and his BFF parachuted in to Vietnam and his friend died before he hit the ground. He volunteered to go back 4 times. Was something above an army ranger whatever that may have been he won’t say. He’s dying now-the toughest most bad ass man I ever knew. He refuses to accept a god damn thing (healthcare)from the government because he says it was all for nothin every man he killed or watched die. I just wanna say I love u guys that served Vietnam. I pray that happiness and peace finds all of you before you go. I’m sorry for what our fucked up government sent u boys to do. Y’all will always be the most awesome bravest warriors in my eyes.

I love this man so very much. I grew up listening to John Prine, my mom moved to Chicago in 1969 from a small farm town in Iowa when she was 19. She found John at his start, she tells me regularly about seeing him at his starting venues like the quiet knight and the earl of old town in Chicago, as well as the student union at the college of dupage. I grew up listening to john, but at the age of 14 I found a album of his that they had it happened to be "the missing years" obviously I had heard these songs as a kid but never was able to appreciate what it was. I remember listening to that album and I was hooked, I heard something so special and being 14 in the 2000s that was odd music to be listening too so it was very hard for me to spread it to friends but I wasn't ashamed and absolutely tried. Regardless I never gave up on what I felt in John's music I stayed a true fan. I'm now 26 years old, living in Chicago working as a tradesman (not a mailman unfortunately lol) and a aspiring musician. John's music is one of my biggest inspirations. I've traveled to muhlenberg county for inspiration central City in specific. I could go on for hours but to wrap it up. John, I love you and wherever you are I'm gunna miss you forever. But I'll play your songs with everything I have and as proud as I can for my whole life. You are the man. Rest in peace my friend.

This was two years ago, Mr. Fritz. Keep your day job for the bills it pays, pursue your “musical ambitions” because they fill your soul. At 28 you have a whole lotta living to do so be the sponge that soaks up all that presents itself and let your external life spark off your internal life and vice versa. Best wishes, my friend. Keep on refining your musical love, observations of the human condition and play to your soul and real life experience.
A lot of success is just plain luck, just like life. Someone is gonna get lucky and someone is the “recipient of luck.” Toil on “in the Tower of Song” but make time to play. It’s in “not thinkin’ about it” that suddenly the words flow.

who wouldn't? The man's imagination with words is amazing. I have a double CD that I paid up for, just because I knew a few of his songs. Silly subjects he would make a song of. Try on Dear Abby or Christmas in Prison or Storm windows. Hello in There. Suddenly, Prine is hotter than ever. Might be because there isn't much imagination in song writing. He is kind of alike a lot of them. You wonder why they forgot how to write. Then guys like Prine and Rodney Crowell show they can still do it.

Saw the man live last night. Powerful performance. Great to see the legends interpret their songs in different ways as they get older. True musician at work .

One of the greatest pleasures of my life was seeing these guys in 2017 in a small theatre in Omagh, a wee town in the north of Ireland. Will never forget it. Thank you John & Sturgill.
    RIP John Prine

This performance is all the more touching after seeing Sturgill play "The Speed Of The Sound Of Loneliness" in the John Prine Tribute.
