There is absolutely no better advertising for your company, than this video. Masterfully done! Clear, concise, great detail and some very good information. I won't even consider any other printer cleaner after watching this - you are clearly the way to go. Thank you.
Hands down, the BEST tutorial I have ever viewed. Great details, visuals and speed. Clear & simple and a tutorial without a 6 minute intro of nonsense babble like 99.5% have. Thank you!
What an excellent tutorial. Such clear, detailed instructions. I wish I could hear this voice on my satellite navigation. A difficult job made so easy. Thank-you fine gentleman!
Hey Lindsey, thank you so much for Your nice and awesome feedback - we celebrate You for finding this great solution - an absorbant pad is an absorbent pad idenpendent what purpose it was made for 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I can't thank you enough for the excellent tutorial and your great value cleaning kit (which I purchased from Amazon after using the reference number in your description to search for it). My ET2750 doesn't get used very often anyway but this time had been left for about 6 months and when I needed to print something last week there was hardly any ink output. I ran the nozzle check and head cleaning functions from the maintenance menu but this didn't solve the problem, so I went on to run the power clean which resulted in perfect cyan, yellow and magenta but absolutely no black. I watched a number of not very good videos about cleaning a blocked print head before I found yours and, because the video was so thorough and easy to follow, I decided to buy your kit rather than one of the cheaper options available. The cleaning process was just as you describe, with the small difference being that the ink cartridges in the ET2750 have a white plastic cover over them that clips in and is then held in place with a single screw. Once that is removed the process is exactly as per your video. After the cleaning I ran the nozzle check but got a blank page, I then read some of the other comments here about this problem and your replies to them, so I tried to print some pages of black text but still nothing was coming out. I decided to run the power clean after seeing that this had resolved the issue for someone else with this model of printer and it has done the trick because I now have perfect print quality again! (I was not too concerned about the waste ink issue with the power clean because I know that the printer is not used so much in normal circumstances but other people may not want to do it). To anyone who has made it to the end of this long comment and is still wondering if buying the Octopus cleaning kit and following this video is worth trying, let me tell you that the answer is YES!
Hello Andrea, thank You so much for this well thought and sorted feedback! We are happy that You have found a way to adapt our suggested method to Your printer model. Awesome! 👍🏻👍🏻
Hello Amanda, thanks for reaching out to us and please accept our apologies for that slow response. We are sorry to say that we are not listed on every marketplace yet. Especially Yours is still a project for us 😐🙂
@@amandaross8009 hi, not sure where you are based but here's a link to what I bought www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B071F3N8XP/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_imm_D4MJBNZ4A1X70914PVWD?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Hello Rick, thanks for pointing out the alternative use of our tutorial. 😉 So it´s useful for something at least - insomnia is nothing to joke about.....
Thanks for the great tutorial. I did this with my eco tank 4550 and it worked great. The only thing is you can use a solution of alchol and windex and get started right away. I used a squeeze bottle with a tube attached. Didn't need to wait for anything, just did it. Be prepared to squeeze pretty hard. Also, when done, you'll need to run through the clean print head, missing pixel, head alignment, and any other maintenance from the menu. Be prepared to print a few pages to get all the ink flowing again, too. It took me 2 pages. THANK YOU SO MUCH!
What a great tutorial, thank you very much! Some video tutorials often leave some things out, but this was perfect and very clear to follow. Great job sir! :)
i dont mean to be off topic but does any of you know a way to get back into an instagram account?? I somehow lost the password. I would appreciate any assistance you can offer me!
@Yousef Maddox thanks so much for your reply. I found the site through google and Im in the hacking process atm. Takes quite some time so I will get back to you later with my results.
Excellent and crystal clear presentation video with good view of parts and precautions set in place before any staining mishap occurs. Thank you so much to make this tough job look so easy.
Hello Deepali Kamath - thanks a lot for Your outstanding, positive feedback! Our aim is to break down that tricky job, that it is also doable for a user with not that much practice - go slow and take Your time - makes a lot of things possible 🙂
Top score for an excellent training video on cleaning print heads my printer is a epson L360 with the same type of print head I now feel confident in cleaning the print heads myself, thank you so much.
Thank you for the video. Great demonstration with well thought out dialogue. I am about to attempt this on an Ecotank 2650. It is basically exactly the same except the 2650 has a plastic cover on top of the cartridges that requires removing a screw. You did not say "um" one time. Fantastic.
Hello Paul, thank You very much for Your positive feedback to our tutorial. As I am not a native English speaker - to be honest: Many sentences were said into the microphone more than once and audio editing took care of most of the remaining sound bugs. Take care!
OctopusConcept That’s probably why it was good. Every word has to be thought out. By the way, I followed your instructions. I used a syringe that came with my ink refills. I used 10 gauge speaker wire clear insulation for the tubing. I just tugged the copper wire out of it. It worked. I will get your product next time though as the tubing did not make a watertight seal. Less than half I think made it through the nozzles so I repeated a few times each and ran a few regular printer cleaning cycles. I started out only being able to see some magenta to being able to see the full color spectrum. Mine was bad. Now it’s back to normal. Thanks.
Excellent advice. My black ink was clogged. I used the windex and alcohol solution. Dropped a small amount of the solution using the needle of the syringe. Waited 45 minutes and dropped another small amount. Let it dry for 1 hours. Set everything back did a nozzle check. Printed a coupled of pages just to flush the ink. Afterwards did a Power flush and starting printed like new again.
I would actually listen to this if I needed to destress from college or help me fall asleep :D This man's voice is so soothing. He needs to get into voice acting and insomnia videos haha! Brilliantly technical video as well - the best instruction videos by far!
Thank-you! I use my EcoTank printer every day but I allowed the ink levels to get low and the print heads have clogged. I have ordered your kit from Amazon. A very clear and helpful video. Vielen Dank!
I have used this kit now to clean the heads of about 10 Epson L365 from our office and friends. The cleaning is superb, but I prefer to remove the print head from the printer and clean it outside, this assures that there will be no mess inside. And it’s just a few minutes extra work.
Hello Peter, thanks for Your nice feedback! Based on Your experience we consider You as a professional user 🙂 - no wonder You are going the way to take out the print head. Actually this is the most dangerous part for this sensitive component. Users doing the cleaning for the fist time are in danger to do some damage to the print head at this point - that´s why we came along with leaving the print head in and creating a work around to control the cleaning liquid mess...
@@octopusoffice I agree, for a common user, removing the print head is a little bit too much to ask for, I’m sure your cleaning kits work the same perfect way with the method described in your video
Hello Cynthia, thanks for Your question. We are not aware of every details of the ET-5880. But You can check the following to determine if our kits can be used for Your machine: Can You access the print area? This is the area where the print head moves from side to side over the paper on which the print is applied. Can You access the print head itsself? At the print head carriage You need to check how the conncection between the ink lines to the print head has been set up. Is it the same solution as in our tutorial - using the connecting cartridges? In that case You can use our tutorial as it is. When the lines are attached to the print head directly You can clean the print heads´ nozzles from the bottom side. We have good experience about that. You use the same setup as in our tutorial - meaning slide some absorbent material with print head cleaner on a piece of plastic foil material under the print head carriage and ket the carriage sit on there for a while. This allows the cleaner to get into the nozzles from the outside. Then You move the carriage from side to side over the absorbent material. This rubs of dried in stains. After that You can check the results by running some test prints . Not satidfied after these? Just repeat the process. We hope that helps a bit!
On the strength of this excellent tutorial, I bought the Octopus cleaning kit for use on an Epson ET-2750 printer with blocked cyan nozzles. I followed the instructions exactly as in the video, but when after re-assembly I tested the printer with a purging test pattern, the pages came out completely blank. I tried cleaning the heads without effect, then resorted to 'Power Cleaning', which fixed the problem so that all the colours including cyan printed correctly. I suspect that the procedure described can introduce airlocks into the print head, needing 'Power Cleaning' to fix.
Hello Paul, thanks for taking the time and providing this thoughtful feedback ! Does the ET-2750 have a waste ink tank that can be replaced? We are aiming at not filling up the printer´s waste ink compartment when applying our cleaning method. When You suspect that air is trapped inside the ink system You can flush the system with cleaner and try again printing out the cleaner to get the colors back to normal - especially for printer models without an exchangeable waste ink tank this extends the lifespan of the printer.
Very good work. I have done the process but still no black printing. When I Look at my black cartridge i see little or no ink in it. I tried to pump ink out using a seringue but could not. (with the other colour i managed to pump ink out). It seems that either the cartridge or the plastic tube or the reservoir of ink has a problem. Is there a way of flushing the whole black circuit ? Or to buy individually this circuit ? thank you very much for your help !
Thanks for Your positive feedback! I assume that Epson does not provide the opportunity to make an individual ink circuit available to You. Actually sad but that´s the situation. We are interpreting You description that there is a blocking either in the ink line from the tank to the cartridge or in the cartridge itsself. We would recommend to try two different things to narrow down the reason for the problem: 1.) You can detach the ink line from the cartridge. Then You can test if ink goes from the tank through the ink line. In this setup You can also try to flush the ink line from both sides. 2.) You can fill up the cartridge manually when the ink line is detached. Then You can see if the cartridge is still printing as long as there is sufficient ink inside.
Thanks for the detailed video! My Epson ET-14000 was quite similar and your cleaning kit worked fine. This allowed me to exhaust all of the ink that came with the printer (wow, it was a lot of ink!) and now I am planning to switch to invisible UV-fluorescent ink (also from Octopus! ☺), and I want to rinse out the tubes so they are not contaminated with visible ink. Is the cleaning fluid appropriate for flushing all the way from the tank through the tubes to the nozzle? You said in another comment that it is just a colorless ink with surfacants. I was thinking of putting a bit of the cleaning fluid in each color tank and printing pages of solid C/M/Y/K until visible ink stops coming out, but then I am wondering if my invisible ink would end up contaminated with colorless ink! Any tips would be much appreciated!
@@octopusoffice please read my entire comment ... I am wondering if you have any suggestions on how clear my tanks and tubes in preparation for your invisible fluorescent ink.
Hello Tom, as You say that Your ET-14000 is quite similar to our tutorial - are You able to detach the connection cartridges from the print head compartment? In that case You can extract the standard inks through these cartridges from the tanks and from the tubes at the same time. When You have emptied the ink system completely from the ink You can fill the cleaner and work the same way to get out this cleaner again. After that You can fill in the invisible ink into the tanks and flush the ink system with this new ink by extracting air from the connection cartridges - this will suck in the ink from the tanks into the tubes and into the cartridges finally.
@@octopusoffice Thanks! I did something like you have suggested and eventually got it working. The connection cartridges do come out, but it was hard to get suction on them, so I pulled through the tubes (and lost some ink in the process) then printed solid color pages until the ink started flowing. I also found that I could "push" from the tank side, since the tanks have a tiny air hole which the syringe hose fits on.
Hello Tom, we are glad to read You have found a way to solve the ink riddle on You machine - consider the lost ink as a sacrifice to the gods of Epson as You are using their machine different from their plan 😉 Thanks for pointing out the air port on the tanks we will take a look on these.
thank you for the tutorial! I used it once last year and it worked no problem. but this time around afterwards I printed about 90 pages and the only color coming out is blue and it's really wasting all my blue ink, why are no other colors printing? :( I tried reflushing the lines and they don't seem clogged anymore ? any advice would be so appreciated thank you !
Thanks for contacting us and Your description. You can try flusing the lines, which do not release color yet, with ink directly. Either You take that ink into a syringe from the ink tanks or from the bottle. Then You fill up the lines going to the print head with that ink. In case Your ecotank model has the cartridges sitting in the print head compartment You also have to make sure there are no obstacles inside these cartridges preventing the inks from going through again. Check for air beeing trapped there - especially in the ink port area air can create trouble...
Worked for me. Thanks. Suggest that you wear eye protection just in case the tube comes off print head and squirts cleaning fluid everywhere (as it did for me). Or just hold it firmly in place .
Godd video! You mention several times that this printer does not have a waist-ink-container. How does the printheadcleaning differ when the printer does have a waist-ink-container?
Thanks for Your question. Our printer in the tutorial has a waste ink sponge installed that cannot be exchanged for a new one - when You are cleaning this printer´s nozzles by using the cleaning functionality from the printer´s menu this waste ink sponge is filled up with the waste ink from cleaning. After a certain amount of cleanings this sponge will be full and the printer will give You a message about this. With that status You are not able to print with this printer any more without expensive service by an Epson service person. Our cleaning process avoids the waste ink going into the waste sponge and also avoid the internal counter for the cleaning to count upwards. By our way we extend the printer´s life span. When You have a Ecotank printer model with an exchangeable waste ink compartment - good then You can run the installes cleaning and get a new waste ink container when the old one is full. We hope our axplanantion answers Your question.
I've done everything you've mentioned to clean the heads, I originally was getting red and yellow now I am only getting black and yellow should I leave my printer for a couple of hours before printing again, many thanks Joyce
Hello Joyce, thanks for Your feedback and question. After applying our method there remains cleaner fluid in the ink system - this has to be printed out to get the colors back to normal. So grab some old paper and print until the colors come back. This may need some time and some prints. This way You do not need to run the printer´s cleaning function and You are also not filling up the waste in container.
Thank you - very clear explanation. However living in South Africa, cannot source your print head cleaning equipment or fluid and was wondering how to do this without it. Can I use rubbing alcohol to try and flush the print head? Otherwise what would you suggest? It is the black ink head on my L365 that is not printing properly. It is currently only 1/4 full, so perhaps I can empty it and replace it with alcohol then try cleaning the print heads a few times to get it to flow through - what do you think?
Hello Margot, thanks for reaching out to us about our tutorial and cleaner. Sorry we cannot provide stock in a more reasonable distance to Your place 🙂 You have the following options to work on You EcoTank: 1) The inks in Your printer are a waterbased formula - so the rubbing alcohol has no dissolving effect on waterbased inks. It will do no damage but it will also not clean that good. 2) the cleaner should be waterbased too - You can use purified and demineralized water. Our cleaner is in its core based on our base ink formulation (without any colorant ingredients plus some surfacants for improved cleaning) 3.) To make things more easy You can actually also use the ink (which is already in the tank) for cleaning - it is waterbased. So no need to remove the ink from that tank. 4.) In a pharmacy they will have a big medical syringe with lue lock connection tip and the also will have a infusion supply line with the coupling matching the syringe´s connector. Try to get such materials. 5.) Open the black tank and use fabric tape to connect the plastic hose / infusion supply line to the tank and make that connection air tight. 6.) Move the print head compartment into the middle of the printer´s working area and start to pump carefully with the syringe connected to the plastic hose. This presses the ink in the tank towards the print head and through its nozzles. You should be able to reach a cleaning effect by this.
You are the best im so impressed!!! that fixed everything (was about to give up) now i get end of life error on inkpad have ordered and looking into wic for the et 2750 is there anything you can tell me about that? love the printer but they always want more money a printer should not be toast in a year and a half again great tutorial
Thanks for taking the time and providing this nice feedback! When You are going for e new EcoTank model we recommend to lok for a model with a waste ink tank that can be replaced - the ET-2750 has a replaceable wast ink box.
@@octopusoffice I ordered a new one already thank you.. but after I flushed the heads they worked great at first but now there printing faint with hardly any ink so I filled from the black cart down and have soaked overnight. Can the heads be changed?

@@octopusoffice I'm in Costa Rica. I looked at buying your product, however shipping here could take 1-2 months and will likely cost 2-3 times the price of the actual product, so that's not very feasible right now given the world's situation. Would you happen to know the diameter of the tube so that I could try to make one with a syringe?
Bought the Octopus cleaner kit for my Epson ET2600 due to bad print quality (only the black). Followed your instructions 100% and now nothing at all comes on the paper, not even the colors that worked ok before. I have printet 30+ pages but no int, think I'm going to throw the printer out the window.
Hello Else - i just came back from vacation and hope I am not too late as the EcoJets are too expensive to be used for throwing . Either there is still cleaner remaining in the black ink system or some air inside there is preventing the proper flow of ink. So please use old paper and start double sided test prints until ink comes back on the paper - that may take more then 30+ prints. The air problem might be the case for the colors that You have not cleaned at all - during the cleaning of the black ink line air can have entered these ink ports inside the print head compartment. You can also run the printer´s print head cleaning programm a couple of times. This also removes air pockets. Sorry again for my late response 😑
@@octopusoffice I brought the printer to a professional who was not able to solve the problem, so he threw it out the window for me. My problem is now: do I trust Epson or should I buy a Canon printer instead. My main focus is photo printing quality, and ink consumption/costs.

I have followed all the instructions, which are well explained, however now my printer Epson ecotank 2750 ET does not function anymore, i.e. The ON power button does not switch on! What can I do now? I suppose that some cleaning liquid has caused damages to the electric circuitry. What can you do in such cases? Another customer in your comments had the same problem, but there is no answer from your side. Can you please help? Thanks. Marco
Dear Marco, thank You very much for contacting us about our tutorial. We are not happy to read that You experience difficulties after following our suggested cleaning method. Where do You think Your cleaner did enter into Your printer? Did You also work with the plastic protection we demonstrate? What kind of cleaner did You use?
@@octopusoffice Unfortunately I used only the kitchen paper towel. I have used the cleaner of your kit, but I had the impression that maybe the cleaning fluid has leaked somewhere. The first time I have used it, was everything ok, and rhe printer could swith on without problem. than (since one printing head was not yet woking properly) I have repeated the operation and than, after I connected the electricity cable to the printer again, the power botton was dead, i.e. Not working any more. How can I bring my printer back to life? Do you have an idea? Thanks
This is a very clear and concise video but it's one glaring shortfall is that you tell people to release the cartridges, to be careful, use your finger, or come up with a way to release, etc. BUT we are blindly pushing and prodding in an area we can't see.....what would have been extremely helpful is to take 10 seconds and show on the removed cartridge what we are trying to achieve, where we have to push, where the release tab is on the cartridge....and THEN we will have a better idea of what we're doing and avoiding damage.
Thank You very much for taking the time and providing this thoughtful and compehensive feedback! Awesome! We dealing with the topic every day and try to have our viewers point of view - sometimes better sometimes not - Your input provides a valuable guide to us to keep in touch 👍
I’ve seen videos showing users soaking ink from the tank on the Artisan 1430 using cotton buds or paper towels. I imagine that can be done with Ecotank printers as well, using the first part of your procedure.
One of my inks is clogged, and i took it apart with your instructions (nice and clear!) and i noticed the color that is not working has little but nothing ink in the head (it looks like a little maze inside). So I'm wondering if that's already due to clogging, or could it also have a fault at the other end of the hose, at the location when the tanks are? That part of the printer does not look so servicable. I only had the printer just over a year, and just it quite regularly. At least weekly, so I was surprised it got clogged in one color. Epson's website seems to have no decent way to contact them.
Hello Peter, thanks for contacting us and providing the description. By saying there is little ink in the head You mean that there is not sufficient ink inside the cartridge body, right?
@Peter Teuben I know that this thread is a couple years old but, I have exactly the same problem that you had with little ink in one of the "little mazes" How did you finally fix it? I've looked and looked for an answer but, your comment is the first time that I have seen the maze issue brought up. MANY thanks if you can share!
@@jeffhagerman2905 I've since then had it a couple time, and had to run through the cleaning cycle several times. Like 4 or 5. I alternated full cycle and head cleaning. Eventually it recovered.
@@octopusoffice After a year, now is the black printhead that is giving me troubles. I've done this process a few times already and still not working. I've done nozzle checks and it seems like something is happening but doesn't clear. It's as if the clog couldn't dissolve completely. The other colors are working beautifully. I want to try as much as I can to save this printer if possible. I like the quality of the prints, don't want to pay for a new printer right now and it's one less printer on the landfill. But unless I remove the printhead and do a visual inspection, I don't know what else to do. Any ideas will be appreciate it.
My printer (ET L121) stopped printing magenta after printing only 170 pages (since new). Of course, I still have a lot of ink left. It's unbelievable what crap they are doing now... Fortunately, the advanced ink washing available in the maintenance menu helped.
Thanks for sharing Your experience! We agree with on the fact that it is difficult to validate what kind of quality You receive when üurchasing something - there is always the chance that You spend a lot of money on cheap stuff... 😶
hi, thanks a lot for this great tutorial which I've followed step by step. Everything is well explained. I just had an issue in the end: after I finished everything, all my printed pages are blank (I tried with 20+ pages using all sorts of colours and they are all blank). It seems to me that my heads do not touch the paper anymore when printing. I've carefully clipped the heads into their compartment (can't push any further). Not sure if you would have an idea of what is going wrong? My printer is an Epson L4160. Great thanks!
Thanks for Your description. Please make sure that there is no air in the tubes leading from the tanks to the cartridges plus ensure that the cartridges are filled with ink properly. Beside that also make sure that there is no air inside the print head - sometimes air is pressed into it during the cleaning process. If You are not sure - just flush with cleaner again. Printing out the cleaner after that - You have already started this - but it may take more prints - we recommend to use already used paper as these test prints do not have a real purpose beside getting the colors back to normal.
@@octopusoffice thanks a lot for your help! I tried again but still couldn't fix it. In the end I went to the service centre and it seems they were able to fix my printer by running some in-depth cleanup from their software. Anyway thanks again for your great video and answer! It was great to learn from them.
Hello Edmeund. Thanks for the question. You need to check on Your printer how the connection from the ink tubes to the print head is established - when it is the same way as in our tutorial then You can apply our suggested way of cleaning.
Hello Keekee, thanks for reaching out to us about our cleaning tutorial for the EcoTank series. We do not know how the connection between the ink lines leading from the tanks to the print head section is made at Your model 16600. We know that some models do not have the solution that connection cartridges make the bridge between the ink lines and the printhead compartment (in which the connection cartridges are sitting). In the case that You model does not have the connecting cartridges You need to get access to the inlet for the ink from the ink lines into the print head. From the distance we cannot guess how much effort is necessary to dismantle the print head section to have access to the inlets for the ink. We hope our description provides some help for You to make Your decision ... otherwise please ask again 🙂
My printer sat unused fro about 6 months and so Ive cleaned the print head with this kit and the actual nozzle heads that go to the paper, twice. Even after this i get white sheets of paper, nothing at all seems to print. I have also tried siphoning ink from the tanks, through the ink cartridges from below, and this draws ink, but when told to print, still no colors at all come out. Any ideas?
Hello Chase Gray, thanks for reaching out to us about the cleaning kit and describing Your so far not so satisfying results. You can send a print job to Your EcoTank and it starts printing - good. You have made sure to have inks from the tanks through the tubes into the cartridges reaching to the outlets - excellent 👍🏻. You have cleaned each ink channel in the print head compartment - also good. Either there is air inside the print head´s ink system which prevents to establish a proper ink flow when starting a print job. Then no ink is reaching the paper and it comes out white. Or there is still cleaner liquid inside the print head´s ink system - it takes quite a while to get the remaining cleaner out of the system. We recommend to use old paper and print test prints double sided on this old paper to get out the cleaner and get the colors back to normal. To make the print head´s ink syystem free of air You can either flush the print head again with cleaner or You use ink for flushing. The ink You use in Your machine is the original Epson ink or an alternative ink comatible for Your EcoTank?
@@octopusoffice I forgot to write back, but after doing what you suggested and cleaning the machine 3 times in total, I was able to get the printer to work again. It ended up taking about 10 or so "clean the print head" option on the machine to finally print every color. Slowly as I ran paper through and reclicked the cleaning option the colors started to flow again. I really appreciate your assistance and posting this video for people who are stuck! It does seem to be true that multiple cleaning cycles can be needed, especially if your machine sat a long time (mine sat 6 months).
Good tutorial, but I don't know if this is my problem. My power light flashes green and alternates with the red flashing ink light. I haven't even printed anything yet. I put ink in and had to go away for a couple weeks before completing installation. Now I just get those flashing lights and don't know what to do. Do you know what could be wrong?
Hello Kari, thanks for contacting us about Your situation. From reading between the lines we assume that You have not finalized the first initialization of the printer properly. This might have caused that the printer is stucked somewhere in this process. You should contact Epson directly as You should be covered by their warranty.
@@octopusoffice Thank you so much! I searched everywhere on the internet, starting with the troubleshooting section on Epson's (Sorry. This section is missing, try later...and later and later...). Other sites didn't list that combo of lights, and as I am not in UK or US, the country I am in offered no chat or email options. Plus the best computer guy I found locally told me that wouldn't be covered by warranty as the jet/head is probably clogged so I should just throw it away. Well you proved him wrong on two counts! Thank you so much! It works!
Hello Brian, we manufacture the cleaning fluid used in the video ourselves. Depending where You are writing from - it makes sense to purchase from us or something closer to Your location :) Our cleaner is a colorless, waterbased ink enriched with surfacants which lower the surface tension around the pollution and cloggings inside the ink system. Then the water part can do its dissolving job much better. The following link guides You to our shop: www.octopus-office.de/shop/en/printer-ink/nozzle-cleaner-cartridge-cleaner/4940/nozzle-cleaner-for-epson-print-head-cleaner-with-extension
I tried your suggestions but I don’t have your solution and tried using isopropylic alcohol to clean the black head. The head still makes white strikes no matter how many times I clean the heads. I am sceptic on doing the flushing from the printer menu because it may also do nothing and spare all the ink in the bottles. Is there a way to know if the nozzle is clogged ? Because you say that nozzles could be damaged also. I found that I can buy print head but I see ads for black only and full color, is there a way to replace only black part of the head? I have an L386 printer.
Hello and thanks for Your question. The used alcohol might be the reason why the cleaning does not have the exprected outcome - the inks used in this printer are water based inks. You need to have a water based cleaner to dissolve cloggings that are from dried in water based inks. Alcohol does not dissolve such blockings.
Hello John, the cleaning fluid is basically a colorless waterbased ink which has surfacants in it. The inks in these printers are waterbased - so to dissolve dried in inks and clogged nozzles You need to have water to have a dissolving effect. Alcohol will do some cleaning but will not have a dissilving effect on such cloggings. Best to use would be demineralised, purified water if You can get Your hands on such material. Please do not use destilled water as this still contains minerals - the minerals tend to react with the remaining ink materials and You will not be able to get rid off the clogging.
Women's Always brand sanitary napkins work as a great cleaning tool. Get a panty liner not the big pads. They won't fit. Get one that is not a "daily" they are too thin. You need one with a little bit more absorbing material. Use a #2 "very light". The newer ones have a plastic wrapper around them. Open up, do NOT peel them off the plastic, and you can lay them under the print head and it will absorb as well as protect at the same time. They will do the job they were born to do!
Hello Beth, thanks a lot for pointing out that great solution - we really like thinking out of the box for using materials that fit the pupose beside their initial field of application 👍🏻🙂
😊 Epson actually does not want YOU to take out these cartridges - we checked if there is a manageable way for customers to extend the life span of the printer and solve a problem at the same time. The Ecotank series is build by Epson this way ... you could call it an official CIS system ...
Thanks for Your question. When getting this message after applying the manual cleaning approach it is usually the case that ink stains inside the printer´s working area for example on paper transportation belts causing this message. Please check if the are stains somewhere and clean the affected areas.
Thanks for the question. You need to check on Your printer how the connection from the ink tubes to the print head is established - when it is the same way as in our tutorial then You can apply our suggested way of cleaning.
Hey Brian, thanks for watching us through such a long distance of internet cable 👍 When You would like to apply our suggested way of cleaning to Your printer: You should try to get Your hands on purified and demineralized water - this is an important ingredient of our base formula for our water based inks. Please do not mix up that type of water with destilled water. As destilled water still contains minerals and these tend to react with the remaining ink in the ink system - in the worst case the minerals and the ink bond and build up solid cloggings - inside the print head - worst worst case.
@@octopusoffice Distilled water is a type of purified water that has had both contaminants and minerals removed. So I'm not sure what you are talking about.I think you need to do some google searches and see that you are misinformed.
Hello Nasho, the cleaner fluid must match the ink that is used in Your printer - meaning Your are using normal inks for printing office documents for example - these inks are waterbased. So Your cleaner needs to be waterbased too - alcohol based cleaners do not help in that case. Our cleaner is waterbased and its formula is an colorless ink plus cleaning detergents.
@@nashochibale7259 Distilled water will work just fine.Just make sure that the place you buy the distilled water is trustworthy and the water is actually distilled.
Hello Cindy, thanks for Your question. Which plastic film do You mean? Do You refer to the plastic foil material that we place under the print head? That plastic material is a simple plastic document sleeve as used in offices. Which Amazon marketplace did You search ? We are not listed on every marketplace (yet)...
Hello Cherilyn, thanks for Your question. We do not have the information specific for Your L382 available - BUT Your machine wworks with the same inks as our L300 and its printer engine is also the same model as in our L300. Based on that we assume that the tutorial als applies to Your EcoTank too. Please check first if the transition from the ink tibes to the print head is made the same way - then go on ordering materials.
Thanks for Your input. Yes, we are aware of the printer integrated print head cleaning options. With cheaper EcoTank models there is the situation that these models does not come with a replaceable waste ink tank - print head cleaning using the software based cleaning fills up the waste ink section in that printer and shortens the printer´s life span. We thought keeping the printer alive for an extended time might provide some advantage to the user.
Hello Broole, thanks for Your question. What does "won´t print anything" mean? Are You able to start a print job and then no ink appears on the paper? Or does the printer not start printing at all?
Hello Thomas, thanks for describing Your situation. Do You mean You get these results after cleaning Your ecotank? Do the lines of color appear when running a test pattern or on normal prints?
I tried doing this on my Epson L355, but after cleaning, there's still white lines and sometimes even light smears of ink in some letters. How do I solve this? HELP
Thanks for Your question about our tutorial. White lines could mean that there are certain nozzles in the nozzle plate still clogged or worse: these nozzles do not work anymore at all. When printing a test pattern do all lines appear on the test correctly? When saying there is a smear on some prints - is the smear in the print itsself or is the paper dirty at other areas? Are You working with alternative inks or are You using the Epson original inks for this printer? The combination of white lines in the prints plus smear on the paper indicates that there might be a problem for the printer to process the inks properly.
Thanks for Your question. We do not know how the ink tubes are connected to the print head on the Epson ET4550 - please check if there are similar cartridge bodies sitting in the print head compartment. The it should be possible to remove these cartridge bodies and clean the nozzles as shown in the video.
Thanks for contacting us about our cleaning tutorial. When applying our method there is a certain amount of cleaner remaining (in some cases also air) in the ink lines and inside the print head. It is necessary to get that cleaner fluid and air out of the system after flushing. One way to do it is to run test prints on old paper to "print out" the cleaner fluid plus air - start a 50 to 100 pages double sided print job - this will take quite some time - so check in between if the colors are coming back. When the colors are back to normal You can cancel the print job. When the prints are not back to normal yet - continue to run test prints or also use the print head cleaning function from Your printer´s menu....
@@octopusoffice okay I'll try this I'm actually going to put some more fluid in first as I don't think I put enough either then will try this printing of a bunch of pages and see what happens thank you
I did a bunch of print head cleans after adding the solution and that's what wasn't printing anything, I'd either get nothing going down or every thing was a faded purple colour and any text was just dots etc
Thanks for sharing... From other users we know about this situation - there might be cleaner fluid in places of the print head compartment where it does no good. Dry out the print head compartment as much as possible...
Hello Nasho, the cleaner fluid must match the ink that is used in Your printer - meaning Your are using normal inks for printing office documents for example - these inks are waterbased. this is the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen in my life. These company's directors should be shot making rubbish throwaway plastic products that cannot be easily cleaned and used, and maintained and make you jump through so many hoops to do something as simple as cleaning the nozzle heads on your printer. My model can't even be opened to fix it, so there's another piece of -plastic shit on landfill, thanks epson
Hello Michaela, thanks for taking the time and contributing Your view on the situation of sustainability of desktop printers 🙂 We are with You about aspect on adding more waste to the landfill instead of reasonable ways to repair and maintain devices. Hello Jonathan, thanks for Your positive feedback !
Awesome! 👍🏻👍🏻

Hello Rick, same goes back to You: Thanks for taking the time and providing this great feedback. We are happy that our tutotial was helpful.
I watched this with no sound on and it was by far the easiest tutorial I've ever watched. Thank you.

Hello Brian, thanks for taking time and giving that positive feedaback! Nice, that the tutorial worked for You..
Thanks.
Very good video in which everything is explained how I get my Epson ECOTANK really clean with the Octopus nozzle cleaner!
:) Excellent feedback - thanks for Your positive comment!
Thanks for Your feedback and description!

Hello Brian, thanks for Your nice feedback! We try to keep the printer surviving our attacks 👍🏻
Can your kit be used with an Epson ET-5880? Thank you... great video!
Hello Cynthia, thanks for Your question. We are not aware of every details of the ET-5880. But You can check the following to determine if our kits can be used for Your machine:
Can You access the print area?
Absolutely brilliant video ! Very clear and very informative and done in a very good way to instill patience Thank you very much
Absolutely brilliant comment - very positive and supportive to keep us going into the right direction ! 😊👍🏻🙏🏻
Thank you, very well explained clear speaking, and easily understood.
We are happy to read that You were able to get something useful from our tutorial! Thanks for taking the time and providing that nice feedback!
We would recommend to try two different things to narrow down the reason for the problem:
1.) You can detach the ink line from the cartridge.
Hello Tom, thanks for taking the time to give that nice feedback about Your positive outcome! 👍🏻🛠
Best tutorial video in lot of searches .. thank you
👍 Thanks for Your positive feedback - guides us into the right direction!
Any explanation video or tutorial is made infinitely better when it involves someone with a German accent.
Which accent ? 😉
Worked for me. Thanks. Suggest that you wear eye protection just in case the tube comes off print head and squirts cleaning fluid everywhere (as it did for me). Or just hold it firmly in place .
Thanks for Your feedback! Eye protection is never a bad idea!😎
Thank you for this. Very detailed and thoroughly explained.
Thanks for the positive feedback! Great meme profil picture by the way :)
Sorry we cannot provide stock in a more reasonable distance to Your place 🙂
You have the following options to work on You EcoTank:
1) The inks in Your printer are a waterbased formula - so the rubbing alcohol has no dissolving effect on waterbased inks. It will do no damage but it will also not clean that good.
2) the cleaner should be waterbased too - You can use purified and demineralized water.
Our cleaner is in its core based on our base ink formulation (without any colorant ingredients plus some surfacants for improved cleaning)
3.) To make things more easy You can actually also use the ink (which is already in the tank) for cleaning - it is waterbased.

Thanks
AWESOME video!! Thank you for explaining it so clearly and easily!!
Awesome feedback ! Thanks for taking the time....
Hello Ann, thank You very much for Your thoughtful contribution!
@@octopusoffice yes, all the ink is essentially in the first container. The other working colors have ink floating in the ink head unit.
@Peter Teuben
I know that this thread is a couple years old but, I have exactly the same problem that you had with little ink in one of the "little mazes"
How did you finally fix it?
I've looked and looked for an answer but, your comment is the first time that I have seen the maze issue brought up.
MANY thanks if you can share!
@@jeffhagerman2905 I've since then had it a couple time, and had to run through the cleaning cycle several times. Like 4 or 5. I alternated full cycle and head cleaning. Eventually it recovered.
What a coincidence that yellow is the color I'm having troubles with. Thanks for a thorough explanation.
Thanks for Your feedback. We hope that You can get rid off the troubles.
Thanks for the tip. I will search out the proper water.
Take care and good luck!
hi, thanks a lot for this great tutorial which I've followed step by step.
Do a Power Flush with the maintenance utility.
Thank you very much @OctopusConcept! Does it work with ET7750 as well?
Hello Edmeund. Thanks for the question. You need to check on Your printer how the connection from the ink tubes to the print head is established - when it is the same way as in our tutorial then You can apply our suggested way of cleaning.
Very interesting, detailed, and helpful.
Thanks for taking the time and giving Your positive feedback ...
Help and hello would this work for the large format epson ecotank printers such the 16600
Hello Keekee, thanks for reaching out to us about our cleaning tutorial for the EcoTank series.
My printer sat unused fro about 6 months and so Ive cleaned the print
head with this kit and the actual nozzle heads that go to the paper,
twice. Even after this i get white sheets of paper, nothing at all seems
to print. I have also tried siphoning ink from the tanks, through the
ink cartridges from below, and this draws ink, but when told to print,
still no colors at all come out.
Thank you. So clear and easy to follow.
Hello Dawn, thanks for Your positive feedback ! Makes us happy to read You could get something helpful out of the tutorial..
It works!
The only question I have is, where to purchase the cleaning liquid. Is there a specific brand?
Hello Brian, we manufacture the cleaning fluid used in the video ourselves. Depending where You are writing from - it makes sense to purchase from us or something closer to Your location :)
Our cleaner is a colorless, waterbased ink enriched with surfacants which lower the surface tension around the pollution and cloggings inside the ink system.
Thank you, I am off to find the tubing and cleaner. Thank you.
Thanks for taking the time and giving Your positive feedback about our idea :)
What is the cleaning fluid made up of? Could I just use rubbing alcohol?
Hello John, the cleaning fluid is basically a colorless waterbased ink which has surfacants in it. The inks in these printers are waterbased - so to dissolve dried in inks and clogged nozzles You need to have water to have a dissolving effect. Alcohol will do some cleaning but will not have a dissilving effect on such cloggings. Best to use would be demineralised, purified water if You can get Your hands on such material. Please do not use destilled water as this still contains minerals - the minerals tend to react with the remaining ink materials and You will not be able to get rid off the clogging.
@@octopusoffice Correction: Deionized and Distilled water have no minerals and ARE OK to use. Purified water contains minerals and is NOT to be used.
The removable cartridge bodies make the Ecotank system seem like an official CIS system
😊 Epson actually does not want YOU to take out these cartridges - we checked if there is a manageable way for customers to extend the life span of the printer and solve a problem at the same time. The Ecotank series is build by Epson this way ... you could call it an official CIS system ...
I viewed more then 15 videos and none of those explained it properly.. Thanks again
Hello Melvin, I hope You mean our video is not included in the range of the 15 "useless" videos 😉
Thank you for this excellent guide
Thank You very much! We appreciate Your positive feedback :)
Now I have paper jam after this ? Is my printer broken ?
Thanks for Your question. When getting this message after applying the manual cleaning approach it is usually the case that ink stains inside the printer´s working area for example on paper transportation belts causing this message. Please check if the are stains somewhere and clean the affected areas.
Good job
Thanks a lot ! 👍🏻🙏🏻

Hello Bruce, thanks for taking the time and giving that positive feedback !
Hello,
I wanted to ask!! Does this work for Epson L555 too??
Thanks for the question. You need to check on Your printer how the connection from the ink tubes to the print head is established - when it is the same way as in our tutorial then You can apply our suggested way of cleaning.
Need to see how you raze the cover to a 7450 home printer
Hello Richard, You refer to an Epson Stylus DX 7450, right? We are sorry that machine we do not have around here...
Great tutorial. Easy to follow. xxx
Thanks for taking the time and giving Your positive feedback!
I am in Guatemala, which is a LOOOOONG way from where you are......
Hey Brian, thanks for watching us through such a long distance of internet cable 👍
When You would like to apply our suggested way of cleaning to Your printer: You should try to get Your hands on purified and demineralized water - this is an important ingredient of our base formula for our water based inks.
Great video. Thank you 😊
Hello Martin, thanks a lot for Your positive feedback !
What type of cleaning solution can I use because my epson L382 is printing black. Please help
Thanks for your advice,. But where I am based is very difficult to source cleaning fluid.zambia
@@nashochibale7259 Distilled water will work just fine.Just make sure that the place you buy the distilled water is trustworthy and the water is actually distilled.
Where can I find the plastic film? I tried to search for your product and it's not showing up on Amazon :(
Hello Cindy, thanks for Your question. Which plastic film do You mean? Do You refer to the plastic foil material that we place under the print head? That plastic material is a simple plastic document sleeve as used in offices. Which Amazon marketplace did You search ? We are not listed on every marketplace (yet)...
Will this work for Ecotank L382?
Hello Cherilyn, thanks for Your question. We do not have the information specific for Your L382 available - BUT Your machine wworks with the same inks as our L300 and its printer engine is also the same model as in our L300. Based on that we assume that the tutorial als applies to Your EcoTank too. Please check first if the transition from the ink tibes to the print head is made the same way - then go on ordering materials.
btw there also is a software based head cleaning
Thanks for Your input. Yes, we are aware of the printer integrated print head cleaning options. With cheaper EcoTank models there is the situation that these models does not come with a replaceable waste ink tank - print head cleaning using the software based cleaning fills up the waste ink section in that printer and shortens the printer´s life span. We thought keeping the printer alive for an extended time might provide some advantage to the user.
I tried this method and now my printer won’t print anything. Please let me know if there is anything else I can do.
Hello Broole, thanks for Your question. What does "won´t print anything" mean? Are You able to start a print job and then no ink appears on the paper? Or does the printer not start printing at all?
Mine gives me papers full off color now. Somethings wrong... Big bands off color. Somebody know what the problem could be
Hello Thomas, thanks for describing Your situation. Do You mean You get these results after cleaning Your ecotank? Do the lines of color appear when running a test pattern or on normal prints?
thank you so much

will a 0.5 cm tube diameter fit in the head?
Thanks for Your question. An inner diameter of 5 mm might be a bit too wide - the inner diameter of ours is 4 mm.
@@octopusoffice Thank you!
The combination of white lines in the prints plus smear on the paper indicates that there might be a problem for the printer to process the inks properly.

all patterns are good except black
the smear is in the print itself, my paper is clean

does this work for Epson workforce et4550?
Thanks for Your question. We do not know how the ink tubes are connected to the print head on the Epson ET4550 - please check if there are similar cartridge bodies sitting in the print head compartment. The it should be possible to remove these cartridge bodies and clean the nozzles as shown in the video.
i did this on my printer and now it wont priont at all, no colour at all comes out when i print
@@octopusoffice okay I'll try this I'm actually going to put some more fluid in first as I don't think I put enough either then will try this printing of a bunch of pages and see what happens thank you
I did a bunch of print head cleans after adding the solution and that's what wasn't printing anything, I'd either get nothing going down or every thing was a faded purple colour and any text was just dots etc
i think you need to sort your sound levels
Thanks for the comment - we are working on that - trying to improve with every tutorial.
My printer wont power back on after this 😞
Thanks for sharing... From other users we know about this situation - there might be cleaner fluid in places of the print head compartment where it does no good. Dry out the print head compartment as much as possible...

this is the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen in my life.
