I can’t hear enough of these videos snd wish I had heard them years ago. Thank goodness he said it’s never too late. I’m 64 yo and only just realising that my addictions were not due to being a bad child/teenager 🙏🙏🙏
To a human child, the need for attachment is paramount. If this need is unmet, all other needs are imperilled. The child instinctively knows this. Belonging is written deep into our survival instincts. Despite living in our modern day world, this need for attachment is still valid. We can look to our modern day homeless populations to see that humans, who lack social connections, are vulnerable. At the core of our societal problems is the abandonment of Self (capital S, Soul Self). If we don't know ourselves, how can we love ourselves? How can we authentically connect with others? Children learn to reject themselves, so early in life, they don't even understand the nature of the wounds. They have no other frame of reference.
Please, don't assume there was a before!! I don't have a 'before' - there was trauma pre-birth, trauma during birth, trauma all throughout childhood, and consequently adulthood. Here I sit at 66 years old, constant anxiety, stress, anger, rage! My body is ravaged with all of it!
