E36 M3: Front End Suspension and Big Brake Install | TC Kline SA | Brembo | Turner

  • I decided to grab a set of TC Kline Single Adjustable to hold me over until I get the Ohlins TTX Kit in for this car. I went with a Brembo BBK 332/328mm GT 4 piston kit and the install was fairly straightforward minus the real man fabrication that I had to do on the steering knuckle.

    People hate heat shields, but it is important to block the heat radiation / waves from the glowing disk brakes towards the shocker oil; the brake lines and fluid and rubber bushings. 🌞
    All those will perform poorly under heavy usage and will decay faster.
    Matt, the heat shield slayer 😎

    Come on Matty, you say Porsche so well and correct, lets do the same with Öhlins ! The Swedish ö is not hard at all, The Ö is very similar to the English sound 'i' in the word 'bird'. Or 'u' in the word 'fur'. Or 'ea' in the word 'heard'. The lips are fairly rounded, but also slightly trumpet-shaped. Let's go , M3 is freaking sick already, you making it even better.

    As a fellow E36 M3 owner (euro version) - Im not sure what fitment you ordered the BBS's in, but E36's are notorious for having "weird" fitment. You often run high offset wheels, with no spacer in the rear, and a large spacer up front. Running coilovers, almost no wheel clears the strut since the body is "fatter" and the spring perch is further down. Regarding the wear sensors. You can just "cut" it off, and connect the wires to themselves, and you'll have no code, its just a loop, which gets interrupted when the pads are worn, and then shows a code. I have AP racing brakes up front on mine, and works fine when just connecting the wires to themselves.

    One option for the brake pad wear sensor is to leave it electrically connected, but tie it up somewhere where it will never be messed with.
    This way you'll never see the brake pad wear light go off, and if you ever want to start using them again you can just install it into the pad.
    I've also had luck just jumping the connection with a paperclip at the body plug, or use a wear sensor that has been cut and looped (shorted out).

  • @ajl0426

    When upgrading to anti-roll bars that large on an E36, you have to weld the outer side where the front bar attaches to the frame rail. Once you remove the seam sealer, you will see about 3/16" gap. If you do not weld the outer side, the spot welds on the other 3 sides will tear loose.

  • @Jmherbert7

    Trade the TC Klein rear adjustable spring mounts for the ground control articulating ones. They mount on the rear control arm and allow for easy height adjustment. MUCH better product.

    • @toddmccardle5125

    May I suggest? For the break wear sensor. I think you can just use a wire to loop the wire back and that it.

    You probably already figured this out, but if the wear sensors can't be coded out...you should just be able to either put in a jumper wire or leave the sensor tied up out of the way.

  • @bcastromusic

    car is looking nice. If you want to go crazy you can buy those sensor holder cover thingies. I replace them whenever I'm in there doing brakes or suspension. It's a hard part to find in the etk/realoem they are part # 61-13-1-393-782 and 61-13-1-393-789

  • @steveyoung3044
    @steveyoung3044 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I believe for the brake pad wear sensors you can just cut the sensor end off and solder the 2 wires together. I think if you do this close to where the sensor plugs in to the car wiring it will be the cleanest and easiest way. I dont believe the sensor will trigger if it is not in the brakes as it is suppose to be so I think you can also ziptie the sensor and the couple of feet of wire up and not have the light come on.

  • @ScottAles
    @ScottAles 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    In all fairness, it would have taken at least 20-30 seconds to clean that part!
    Sticker on Brembo rotor comes off in 3 seconds though. And no need to clean the face with harsh brake cleaner either. Dryce away! 🤣

    I also notice it doesn’t have the x-brace added. I’m sure you’ve already ordered that - but what is also not very known is the euro M3 came with additional underbody trim coverings to US spec doesn’t have. Check out part # 51712491567 it’s a covering that goes over the whole middle-front of the car over the x-brace and everything.
