i like the walks around apex which i know can't be done now. Then car spotting in parking lot then maybe s lap. Plus a food vlog that's my favorite but to each his own peace
Exactly! We need more technical stuff about ordinary cars (sort of) built to track spec for Nordschleife. Tom seems quite knowleagable about this kind of technical stuff. Keep up the good work!
It's funny when people say "we" as if they aren't just projecting their own preference. I do the same thing. I wouldn't call this an ordinary car, this is more rare and expensive than many exotics but there is some relatable about it starting as an attainable car.
@@NickKautz E36 now, as time will go on an on will be E46 GTR for Tom to be built I am sure as it will get more and more cult status. I say, ordinary, because not everyone will put in csl motor, but on the other hand, anyone can try to modify suspension and put wider tires, and I learned something here, for example, that on 10.5 wheel should 265 tire be fitted, where it will be very streched, but that is how things are done. The point is that both these cars can be bought for 1000 eur and then with the help of how knowleagable one is will be able to start track build project. And it's amazing when there are people who disclose what such race teams as Schirmer are doing..

Robert brought a very good point by saying the e36 is an exciting car to get in because it is analogue. That's why I think many love their e36 and don't want a 'better' car instead having this for pure driving...
I was just driving behind one E36 M3 and got frustrated how slowly he was going on twisty country road. I was just on cruise mode behind it, with Saab 9-5 wagon. 😂😂
We’ve all seen plenty of super attention to detail, no expense spared builds, but rarely ones that are made purely for ultimate driving pleasure such as this. I like how he’s not going for an easy high power boosted engine, I like how he’s not adding on copious amounts of aero parts everywhere, I like how he’s not plastering it in bare carbon fibre. I love how he’s basically building a super enhanced BMW E36, not a top spec race car that would end up being nothing like an E36 at all. I never thought I’d be this excited about someone else’s car!
this has got to be the most insane E36 I have seen being built! With lots of style, engineering and thought. No money was spared! looking forward to the finished project!
That looks beautiful even at that stage of the build. Everything looks clean and tidy. The whole Schirmer collection together will be a sight to behold. Even the bumper has a huge smile going on.
Same braking setup as the 600kg heavier Taxi? I hope you'll start offering medical insurance for all the faces that will be falling off under hard braking.
I don't know which impresses me more, the detail and quality of engineering touches and the custom build by team schirmer or Robert having the balls to commission it in the first place and writing out the final cheque for it , I'm just genuinely gobsmacked. !! I can see team schirmer getting more commissions for these types of cars as time goes on. 👏👏👏👍👍
one of the nicest e36 builds ive seen, hats off to the individuals that welded the inner-fenders and cage. would love to see what reinforcements were done to rear subframe area and what rear subframe you are running
Amazing build, lot of details and all the custom carbon fiber pieces! Really shows what Schirmer can do. Hope to see more of these videos, can’t wait for the end result! Congrats Robert!
Nothing negative to say about that! What a brilliant build, I love to see all the attention to detail that goes into something like this, and it's nice to see at this stage so you can see the quality, the weld around the airline port... Just wow 😮😍 stay safe 🙏🙂
Very nice build! Not sure if there was a significant difference in cost, but the S54 long block in the CSL only has two differences over the standard S54 and that is the cams 268/264 and the exhaust valves. Hopefully it was not a significant premium as most CSL parts since you are already replacing the cams with Schricks. Standard S54s with cams 280/272, CSL intake, 2.5" dual exhaust and a tune are putting out ~375whp, so 415hp should be very doable.
Your lucky to be a member of the Apex family Misha and one day I hope you do a vid on the car when finished!!! With regards to a Robert mentioning the heat from the exhaust, a friend of mine has an EP3 with a 2.4 lump and supercharger fitted with nearly 500bhp he uses it for track days and goes out for 30-35 mins at a time, anyway he has his manifold ceramic coated inside and out, and when he comes in you can hold your hand on the manifold and he has been running at 8300 rpm most of the time.
Honestly this is the most exciting E36 build ive seen. I cant wait to see it and hopefully catch a ride in it next season! The only thing id personally do differently is fit a manual CAE shifter. But im a manual nerd... and this isnt my car 😂 hope you guys are doing well and staying say 🙏🏼👍🏼

Simply saying 'On Another Level' won't do this build justice! STUNNING !!! several groin leaks happened watching this Schirmer update ! ;)
Crazy! With these quality parts this build will be expensive AF! I did a build E36 M3 myself few years ago but this looks like a 100k car when it's done in total. :D
Just the gearbox with fittings and accessories is probably in the neighbourhood of €10k. €15-1600 cams, seats anywhere from €1400-5900 each, €4500 suspension, the lists goes on. And carbon fiber also isn't cheap.
Yeah this is definitely.a BIG budget build. I have a similar cage in mine, not quite to that spec and that cost the better part of 5K to buy, weld in, paint. I would guess the gearbox closer to 20K with all the trimmings and electronics. Definitely a supercar budget build. 265 section tyre on the front axle though LMAO, that thing will stick! I personally think adding too much grip will take away from the challenge of peddling such a car....the chassis has plenty of grip even with 235 profile tyres and square setup has a much more neutral balance and playfulness at the limit. Fair play to realising your dream Robert.
Oh forgot to say, yes very interested in the e30 m3 behind yous. And of course Robert’s E30 M3 and thank you for the detailed spec and walk around the e36 m3 gtr.
As an American that owns a neutered E36 M3, I’m envious of this build. Can’t wait till it’s on the track. Also please do a proper build break down once it’s done. I’m curious about certain parts that are on the car.
Hi, stuck in Canada here! Just wanted to let you know that VAC Motorsports in the US do produce a durable aluminum block for the S54. I own an E46 M3 and contemplating it like jewelry for the trackday car. It saves approx 32 Kg of engine weight.
Awesome video makes me wanna start back building race cars. I really like what you did with the front inner structure. I worked in NASCAR for about 6 years and on BMWS for 25 years. The only cars that I have built are all for BMWCCA racing and you can’t get wild like you did. I wanna do a wild BMW. It’s taken me years to realize this. It will be an awesome personal car. Especially having a bmw salvage yard at my disposal. Usually 100 plus cars there. I actually have a s54 Smg running gear out of a 06 with 50k miles. I have put one in a e30 M3 and we got crazy money for that. Also making things like a e46 M3 wagon. We put the running gear in one used the M3 front seats and used the nice cube trim in it. Using my fabrication skills I was able to cut the quarters up on the wagon to get the M suspension of fit the tires and I was able to graft the steal cut out and welded on to the car. A small amount of bondo. I sent it out for paint. I’m a DuPont certified painter but I don’t have a spray booth and my buddy does and does me good deals. We got $25k for the wagon. It was a 6 speed manual car when we built it. The cca rules are limited to factory parts only. I have books I have made with all the parts list and numbers required for the job like s50 in a e30 with factory parts bolts right in. E36 M3 suspension on e30. And anything that is popular. We have put a few v8 in e30. That’s a job. Those are huge engines.
