Thanks for the review! I just got it and it's amazing! As far as what to do with the memorabilia, I too keep it "in the box"! ...BUT part of me wants to frame the posters, put the stickers on my guitar case, and use the books as bathroom readers! HA! So maybe I need to buy two sets of each box set - one to "use" and one to "preserve" - like as if Im made of money and can afford this! dang!
Coke after coke after- the commercial is on the 3 dvd set " The Story of the Who. I own(ed) all releases of sell out except Cassette. Have wanted " Dont You Want Kids, Kids?" since hearing about it in 1984- first read about it in an old " Go Magazine". One thing is for sure- theres not much Unreleased Who/ PT songs out there. You own PT- " You Cant Outrun The Truth single? It came out in March. Thanx!!!!!!
Hi Mike, your videos are incredibly produced. I just ordered this box of goodness. This is a favorite along with the Quadrophenia and Who's Next. Yep, have the two previous reissues...may have the first one too somewhere.. Cannot wait to receive this marvelous box set. Your unboxings are in a class of their own. This may be the best box set reissue I know the Who's Next is next inline. What a great band... only released 14 studio albums for a 50 year old legendary group.. but is all quality. God bless... here is to your next unboxing thank you
Thank you so much for the kind words. Sell Out is an incredible box set. I am really looking forward to the Who’s Next set. I’ll be sure to put together a video when that one’s released.
Thank you. You have no idea how much this comment means to me. I'm always pleased to hear someone appreciated my brand of idiocy. Someone close to me, but not a fan of The Who, watched earlier and stated, "I didn't get a lot of it." You, Charlie, you get it. :)
I have heard this. Limited to 1,000 copies? The originals are very hard to find from what I understand. The first time I ever saw it was as artwork included with the ‘95 CD.
@@MagicalMysteryMike There were 500 in the Mono and 500 in the stereo. I have both original albums with a sticker on the back of the mono advertising the Psychedelic poster but alas the poster is missing. There is a guy in Ukraine advertising extremely good repro posters on Ebay.
Great video,....this is a wonderful set with a lot to offer. Wish I had bought the earlier ones when they came out - I do have the 2 cd deluxe of Tommy and the 3 x LP Live at Leeds
Great video Mike! I got this set the same day as the Plastic Ono Band set. This is one of my favorite Who albums, I got my first copy as a 2 record set along with a Quick One back in the 1980s. I did get the 1995 and 2009 versions as well but this is obviously the best one. Hopefully the rest of their albums will get this treatment. Take care!
It's been a lot to absorb between those two fantastic box sets. Thanks for taking the time to comment and share your thoughts. I'm with you on hoping the rest of The Who's studio albums get this treatment. At the very least, Who's Next needs to be done this way. As I state in the video, "The Who does box sets as box sets ought to be done!" They just put 'em out at an incredibly slow pace.
Yeah, I used to wonder why they didn’t keep it going side 2 on the original album. I never heard Roger got a rash, but he did get sick from sitting in the fridge-cold beans.
Hey Mike, how are you doing. I’ll ask you this question because you are very thorough and I enjoy your videos very much. If you buy this NEW Super Deluxe box set, will you get all the extra tracks that were included in the 1995 and 2009 releases? I have the single disc 1995 version, but I never got the 2009 two disc version. So what do you think? Should I track down the 2009 version or just spring for this new Super Deluxe version ?
@@MagicalMysteryMike Thanks for your response. Didn’t know the single disc 1995 version was a remix. I did notice that on “Mary Ann with the Shaky Hand” on the 1995 version, Pete’s voice doesn’t “quiver” or “shake” until the very end of the song while on this new release it doesn’t “quiver” at the end at all. That should’ve been a dead giveaway that it (1995) was a remix. I’ve gotten used to that 1995 remix version of the album, I hope this new release isn’t too different. I guess I’ll spring for the Super Deluxe version to have ALL of the extra tracks. Thanks again.
My first copy of The Who Sell Out was in the cut-out bin of Community department store for $2.99 - It was on the Decca label and this was in the late 70s, so I'd wondered how long this was sitting there. Regrettably, I no longer have this album, but I'm dying to get my hands on the vinyl edition I saw the other day. Anyway, it wasn't like the Who I knew with Tommy, Who's Next and Quadrophenia. The songs were funny, the artwork was weird (now I think it's brilliant, but I was only 16 then), Daltrey's voice was higher, was it a different singer? I had no idea Entwistle and Moon also sang on the early stuff. I had no idea this was early stuff. It took a while to grow on me, but it has - in spades. It's one of my favorite Who albums now. Thanks for doing this unboxing. It looks very tempting, but maybe in a little while. I just picked up Plastic Ono Band and I've just ordered the Half Speed Master album of "Ram", so I've got to relax and settle down. (I forgot to mention I have that THEN-deluxe edition with the complete MONO and STEREO albums. For years I tried looking for the MONO pressing on vinyl, but it was always upwards of $200.00, which wasn't mine at the time. Then the 2009 deluxe came out and I finally had it. I'm so glad I didn't shell out 200 bucks for a different guitar solo on Our Love Was, which I think was the only major difference.
First off, thank you for this comment. I really appreciate that you took the time, as a true fan of The Who, to share your experience. I enjoyed reading this. You are hearing correctly that Daltrey is pretty underrepresented on the original album. The opening track features guest vocalist (and writer of the song), John "Speedy" Keene singing along with Roger, Pete Townshend sings quite a few songs, and John Entwistle sings a couple. These box sets present a lot more to absorb, and gives Roger more exposure.
Thank you for your interest. I posted 2 new videos in the past few weeks, and I'm working on additional videos. Putting these together is a labor intensive process. As much as I love doing them, sometimes the sacrifices made in my time doesn't pay off in viewership. I'm still here and will continue to post as I can get videos made. ;-)

I feel you. The struggle is real. Wish I had a burner of each release too.

I love all things Who and will buy it again, and again, and again. I’m a sucker for this band.

The Adrian George poster came as a limited edition with the first copies of the original Mono/Stereo U.K. vinyl album in 1967.
