As for JL compilation albums, there was a very good one, "The John Lennon Collection", released in 1982. But the best of the best is "Working Class Hero - The Definitive Lennon" 2CD set (2005), which includes 2000-2005 remixes.
The only reason why I'm purchasing this box set IS because the songs are remixed and also remixed in 5.1. That's all I ask for in these compilation and box set releases. If the artist remixes the songs in both formats (stereo/5.1) I will purchase that release in a heart beat. The book looks cool too so I'm going to pre-order this. Thanks for the video and heads up.
I think both live performances of Come Together have been released. Years ago pioneer released a laserdisc version of the John Lennon Collection. The one with the Annie Leibovitz cover photo. It was a video version of the album, but a number of the songs were longer and didn't have a fade out. I'd like to hear the songs done like that. Distinguish the songs from the way are already so used to hearing them.
I pre-ordered the 4 lp vinyl set. It will no doubt sound great and without any doubt appreciate in value over the years. I think this is one of those 'once they're gone, they're gone' and that will drive up the worth considerably. But I love the music. I do have all the recordings in many products and formats already, so I am indeed buying the music over again. It's a bit of a sentimental thing, as well, supporting the Lennon family.
Lennon legend was poor, working class hero was the ultimate. No need at all for another compilation. They should release the dakota demos double album or menlove avenue remastered....
How many more times can stuff be remixed/remastered when it's already been done?? A few artists have done this and for my ears,it sounds exactly the same.

I love the idea of this compilation and the fact that lennon will become more accessible for people. For example, people that prefer newer vinyl. But for me, it's far too expensive to get it as i'll just stick to the proper albums as i love how the original sound is.
I was hoping for more than a hits record but will probably buy the vinyl edition because I don’t have any Lennon comes in that format...thanks for giving us some details...Glen kellaway
They make it too easy to pass on this one. I used to have the 1982 Collection compilation, and the 1990 4-CD set that you held up. Really any of the 2-CD or 4-CD compilations will due any casual fan. Lennon only released 8 legit solo albums, but he's had almost 20 compilation albums. You can say what you want about Paul cash-grabbing, but he's only released 4 compilations in the past 40+ years (Wings Greatest, All the Best, Wingspan, & Pure), and all of them had one or more songs that weren't available on a proper album at the time each was released. I agree with you about compilations - they mostly have outlived their usefulness. In the old days it was nice to have one disc with your favorite songs so you didn't have to swap discs in and out. Now in the digital age, you can store 100 albums on a small thumbdrive, or go find the songs on spotify or youtube, so casual compilations aren't really relevant anymore.
Dolby Atmos has my interest piqued. Done properly, and the 5.1 mixes on the Imagine Ultimate Collection boxset suggests the Lennon camp can do this stuff well, and I’m interested in buying.
Hi Andrew I have got all the Compilations of John.Looking forward to hearing the 5.1 remix I have the Imagine box set 5.1 remix which isn't so good on the mix 5.1!!
Hi Andrew. I Just read today that the mixes for this collection are “mixed totally from scratch “ as they put it. So I’m kind of interested. Perhaps the 2 lp vinyl
Here we go again .... Not to sure of this one . I think it would have ben better if they polled the best of the Lost Lennon tracks to make this . I am on the fence about this one !!! Just might get the CD and be done . All the best to you and take care and be safe :). !!!!
I don't need another compilation. If you are a huge fan of an artist its much better to get an expanded release of a great album like the Beatles remaster series including Abbey Road, White Album, Sgt Pepper, etc. I've also bought and like some of the McCartney archive series records but only the 2 CD versions. The 4 or 5 disc sets are really nice, but it comes down to if you want to spend the $100 plus for that type of set. I definitely would consider it for albums I absolutely love because I haven't heard anything in at least 20 years that compares to the music being re-released and re-packaged from years earlier.
Surprised that this is the release to mark Lennon's 80th and not Plastic Ono Band. I thought for sure they would continue with the 'Ultimate Mixes' series and the double anniversary made sense, tying in with the coffee table book too. This is less exciting, and confusingly shares its title with the 4CD compilation from 10 years ago - that one had a novel idea behind it of each CD looking at his solo years from a different angle, whereas this one seems like more of a conventional Best Of. Depending on the tracklist and how the remixes shape up I may pick up the 2CD...
Plastic Ono Band Ultimate Collection is still in the offing...probably for a December release, which is the 50th anniversary of the album Dec 11 is a release date in the US (but possibly Q1 next year if pushed back), just too early to announce it, either way.
Another Lennon compilation? There is already a 4 disc set called Gimme Some Truth from 2010, they should have chosen another name for this one. I have all Beatles solo albums, but Lennon is my least favourite. So I`m not sure if I should add this set to my collection as I hardly ever listen to his solo material.
@@13THBEATLE Thank you for the recommendation, but that`s what I do anyway :-) Everyone has his own preferences in music and that`s fine. If you love Johns music, more power to you! :-)
What concerns me that they are unlikely to release the much rumoured POB this year if they are releasing this ( not required ) compilation. Makes sense for Sean to take over as Yoko is pretty old and ill I believe...plus Sean's..goasst of the sabre tooth tiger and Lennon Delirium are both great bands. Incidentally the book of the making of POB album is still being released in October as its an anniversary year for that album
Put it with the other compilations: Shaved Fish Imagine, Music from the Motion Picture The John Lennon Collection Lennon Legend Acoustic Working Class Hero - The Definite Collection Peace, Love & Truth The U.S. vs. John Lennon Also... Lennon Anthology
I always thought there was room for improvement as far as the sound quality of his catalog. I always thought Sometime in New York city and Mind games lack in dynamic range.
but none of the previous compliations has Dolby Atmos surround mixes. I have a system that can do Atmos justice haven't got any previous Lennon so I'm going for this.
I'm a collector of Beatles and solo material, so I ordered the deluxe LP Box set and the 2 CD / Blu-ray box. I don't think so many different variants should be released however, maybe a one or 2 disk set and a deluxe box that includes vinyl as well as CD / Blu-ray. Both should come with a download link. To the average consumer, compilations are ok but I think most people would just rather listen on the various streaming services.
For those of us who have some of the old compilations, the 2CD deluxe box with the 5.1 should be nice. There is still a place for compilations nowadays. I hope the casual fans and millennials pick up this box set and support physical media! Sets like these can not be enjoyed by streaming or downloading.
Really interesting insights from Sean Lennon on his Radio 2 show last night! Now awaiting Paul's input on part 2 of his show tonight. How good would it be if they ever got back together...amazing and inspirational.
Hi Andrew, Newly subscribed. Love your videos. I have come to your channel before. I am a huge LENNON fan... I mean I worship the man. I have most of the comps you showed and yes, I do need this. Congrats to Universal and Yoko Ono for curating his legacy with class and not needing the break the piggybank. The Imagine box was sumptuous and I think this will be something similar. Amazon.ca is offering it at 69.00 Canadian for the 2 CD/bluray with poster, book, postcards and stickers. Amazing deal. I will spoil myself... this is the year to spoil oneself. LENNON, could these times use an icon like him. I agree too that Sean may eventually take over with the legacy curating and the like. I am hoping to see an unboxing of this on your channel. Something tells me that you will go for it. God bless and keep well, Tino
I don't really know if something like this is worth buying in this day in age, hi-res versions or not. You basically went over most reasons why I don't feel compelled to grab it. $25+ for material we already own and have easy access to. I guess if you gotta have all things Lennon, go for it.
It's interesting how we value things - a nice meal in a restaurant $25+ & thereafter all we have is a memory, though we can pay endlessly for the same experience!
Come Together Live comes from the cd "John Lennon Live" which was from the 8/30/72 One To One Concert which I was at......was released on Laser disc, CD, vinyl, VHS yet long out of print.
It does indeed. I think, unless the info is now out there, that it's still not known whether this will be the version from the afternoon or the evening concert, as one of those has still not been released.
@@AndrewDixonMusic Very good point, i do have the ABC one hour televised version which contained only a handful of lennon songs also showcasing r flack, sha na na, stevie wonder..........as you may know their are severe legal problems regarding the band elephants memory as they are fighting any re-release as they played for free and tho i am a yoko supporter, i believe a charity concert, no matter how long ago proceeds should still go to charity as if you buy bangladesh proceeds go to UNICEF. Funny i realized that yesterday was the 48th anniversary of the concert and i still have my ticket stub!
The high res audio is what gets me for all of these box sets. Plus I have a Dolby Atmos system. I love the remixes- Beatles, Paul, etc. that I have heard. And I like the books.
Hi Andrew. I received my copy today pre-ordered from Amazon of the 2LP version. I also have Lennon Legend on vinyl and I must say of the songs I have listened to the remixing and remastering is superb. John’s vocals on Imagine are crystal clear as are all the Double Fantasy songs. I always find that the test song on any of John’s compilations is Whatever Gets You Through the Night as I always found that it sounded muffled but this version of it is exceptional as is Mind Games. The detail that the remixing and remastering has brought out in each song and the clarity really is superb. It sounds like John is in the room singing to you. I was at one point considering cancelling my pre-order but I’m so glad I didn’t. The gatefold sleeve is really good quality too as are the inserts. This will definitely be my go to compilation for John’s music. Really top drawer all around. I’d be interested to hear what you think!
Andrew...the only one that doesn’t sound as sharp as the others although it’s still a marked improvement is #9 Dream. Apart from that the SQ all round really is...fab!
I've been asked this before and I tried to remember but I can't find where I got it from!! If I ever find out I'll drop a link somewhere as several people have wanted to know...
@@AndrewDixonMusic thanks for your quick response. I just found one on eBay from a London seller and I purchased it. He was offering them in several colors.
I think I will pass on this one. You make a great point about the change in compilation albums. Might buy the set for the 124 page hard booklet and the Come Together Live. Will have to see. Thanks for the informative video Andrew👍
Making my way through the hours of Get back sessions tapes .It clearly shows that Paul was the creative driving force by that stage. Pauls error was not to see that it was George who was offering great song writing to compliment his work rather than John by 1969. Also John had already written Imagine ,Gimmie Some Trueth and Jealous guy whilst still in the Beatles .Clearly without Pauls support Johns song writing post Beatles rarely reached the same high standards despite the expressed conventional wisdom of most critics.
Absolutely agree. Everyone seems happy enough to bash Paul's work without John but the argument works just as well (if not more) if flipped the other way round.
I agree they both benefited from each other. They also both benefited from George, Ringo and George Martin to a great degree. Without that around them I think they both struggled at times in their solo careers to re-create that magic. Paul might have produced some solo fluff, but he always seemed to work harder at his craft in his solo career than Lennon. Still, the talent of both men shined through at various times in their solo careers.
@@AndrewDixonMusic Day 8 of the Get back sessions is fascinating listen. Paul opens up to director Michael Lindsey Hogg about his frustrations regarding his inability to write with John since Yoko emergence and how to save the group. Linda also shows how positive she was regarding the Beatles and provides rational arguments .Over 2 hours of unedited Beatles dialogue
@@davidjackson5449 Brilliant. I'm sure I used to have all that stuff (A/B Nagras) as MP3s once but seem to have been lost over time. At some point I need to really gt to grips with those.
Considering how long John's solo career was I reckon the guy did okay. Plastic Ono Band & Imagine are 10/10 classics that any of the Beatles would be happy to put their name on. Mind Games & Walls & Bridges are up there as well. As for songs rehearsed by the Beatles, John wasn't the only one that benefited, Paul and George later recorded songs that first appeared in Beatles sessions.
Hi Andrew, Only a week to go until we get to see this lovely item unboxed. Yes, I preordered it too. If it is anything close to the Imagine box set.. it will be great. I have immense respect of Yoko and the way she is curating the legacy of Lennon's back catalog and she is doing it at a fair price as opposed to Macca. I worship the man, the legend, icon and his songs and albums though he doesn't have as many as the rest of the Beatles.... are incredible all of them. So since Christmas will be canceled I will indulge and give myself the gift myself God bless and keep well, Tino
To be honest Andrew, I felt exactly the same way - why do we need another best of?. Someone in the comments section mentioned a 4 disc set released about 10 years ago with the same title ( which I own) - and I’m wondering if this new compilation is a re hash of this to some extent?. Based purely on content alone, there can’t be too much of a difference surely? Either way, I can’t think of a single Lennon fan that hasn’t got all these tracks over, Not particularly exciting unfortunately!
I love John Lennon but at the end of the day it seems like it's basically the same greatest hits compilation they have been rehashing in various configurations for the last 30 years. I love the hits. Own the hits and won't be buying this one. Ha I'm way more interested in outtakes, unreleased music or even the original studio albums these days anyway.
I bought it because I just love John and the package looked nice, but I would love for Yoko to released more of John's demos's and home recordings that are all over youtube
Loved the review! ! Can You do a review on the Tune in book from Mark Lewisohn?! Should I buy the deluxe edition?! Do I need another book?! Thanks in advance! Cheers
Thanks! That could be something I do once I've finished reading it. I'm about 600 pages in to it with another 1,200 to go !! It is amazing though, there will never be another book like it on the subject.
The deluxe box is slowly pulling me in (as always), but not gonna lie the news of yet another compilation is a bit disappointing (Back in 2010 we had the give me some Truth box set, power to the people - the hits as well as the brilliant signature collection boxset) was hoping for either Plastic ono band 50th to accompany the new book or even more so Double Fantasy 40th, not sure if there is still time to issue these now?
When I first saw the email and the preorder link I was all excited, but having read the details I just feel a bit disappointed, this doesn't do it. Meh.
I think I may have found something to get excited about other than the book, after checking out the track listing again I came across ‘every man has a women who loves him’ now I’m assuming this isn’t the Yoko and John version and therefore the last time john’s version was released was as an extra track on the milk & honey 2001 cd, which I don’t own. New John material a big plus point, although if I’m right it’s strange they haven’t used it as a selling point!!!
I don't own "Lennon Legend" on vinyl nowadays it's goin from £70 and upwards online, I might just purchase the double LP version of this and leave it there. Great discussion Andrew 👍👍
Hi mate, It looks good, the set. Especially the book. The price for the cd-set is okay. For sure, I will go for the vinyl set and if the vinyl set hasn't the book, then I'll have to go for the cd-set as well. But I still keep hoping if Plastic Ono Band will be released as a 50tyh Anniversary edition, later this year.
@@AndrewDixonMusic Just oreded the cd/bluray set abd the 4LP vinyl set at Amazon.uk. Now i have to wait what the prices will be at other shops, but I think prives will vary at different webshope, and then I can change the order or even delete it at Amazon.
I finally went ahead and pre-ordered the 2 CD/blu-ray. It looks gorgeous and I'm too sentimental. I do wish there was more specific info as to the blu-ray content. I live in hope that there will be videos (like Lennon Legend DVD) along with the hi-fi audio.
@@AndrewDixonMusic Yeah, not holding my breath. It's a little tough because I enjoy the extra bells and whistles... "Gimme Some Truth" bumper sticker caught my eye...but I don't have the equipment to get the most out of the blu-ray.
Wasn't sold until I listened to the preview track of the remixed Instant Karma. It sounded fantastic! Asking price for the deluxe set is not too crazy. Justifying it further with the thought that it will be a good way to mark John's 80th. Preordered!
I thought the lennon anthology was an incredible release of raw and unbelievable material I love it. but I gotta agree with you on this, while it's a nice sentiment I am yet to see what hardcore lennon fans have to look forward to on this release. thanks for sharing
It's certain that Lennon fans would prefer a remix special of Plastic Ono Band, akin to the Imagine release. Regarding 5:1 sound, a lot of classic tracks can be heard in this format on the 'Lennon Legend' DVD released in 2003. There was of course a video to accompany the songs and limited animation of John's drawings. Anyway, we can all make our minds up properly about the new release when we get more information.... No. 2: We want information. 🕉
What's the arrow pointing to John's ear all about? At first I thought it was just part of the advertisements, but it appears to be in the cover artwork!
It is definitely on the artwork. There's other art in their with an arrow coming out of his mouth, so something to do with talking and listening. I'm not sure this was a great idea!
If my money allows me, then why not. On the other hand, I guess I'm not that big JL fan, I'm just a completist: once having started collecting I like to have everything there is on the subject. Though I would hardly ever bother to listen to these new remixes. Maybe, once. And maybe they'll finish up to be the only Lennon mixes I'm going to listen for life till my dying day, who knows 🤷♂️
Wonder if this announcement means we won’t get a deluxe “plastic ono band”. Feels a bit like this has been put out as a stop gap for the 80th birthday in October and whether COVID has delayed the former?
For those of you who have a 5.1 system,as with this and any other Beatles deluxe with 5.1, trust me it will kick you where it counts. To me, this is the ultimate sound.I might add you have to know what your doing when it comes to a 5.1 system or it is NOT gonna kick-ass.I know people who have bought a killer set-up, think they can just plug it in and zap.Does not work that way.It also depends, let's say the White album. If you have not heard it before, sure the 5.1 is gonna sound good,BUT if you have known the lp in and out over the years, this is when it will really grab your ears.
In general, I’m not into compilation LPs. I remember in the early 80’s reading a Steven Tyler interview in which he said it was like taking one chapter out of a book & expecting it to make sense (with chapters from other books).
I appreciate the review there Andrew, just happened across you like and I'll be subscribing as well to boot....Gonna let this one go I think, however.... I'd rather be getting a hold of a t-shirt like that!!
Yes, what's not known yet is whether this compilation will include the afternoon or evening performance, only one of which has been released previously.
Jason Lee Interestingly, it’s already in the best selling pre orders here on Amazon UK!. It’s John Lennon, it’s always going to appeal to someone, somewhere!.
Has Instant Karma ever been remixed? If so, not like this. This brand new remix of John's first single sounds incredible. And if this one track is any indication, we are in for a treat with the other 35 songs in this collection, not to mention the hi-res and 5.1 mixes on the blu-ray! The book also looks remarkable, with pages devoted to each song and some really nice classic and unseen photos. I bought the 2CD/1Blu-ray for $60 total shipped. I'm excited. Such a book I would pay $30 for on its own. So $60 total for all this (poster, post cards and bumper sticker included) in a nice box that'll look great on my music shelf is well worth it to me.
I got it because, at the time, I was severely lacking John Lennon on album. This new set sounds absolutely frigging amazing, especially on vinyl! My complaint is more with the store's NOT including the booklet and poster (DAMN YOU TARGET), but in all fairness, the package never claimed to include them on the sticker in the first place. And from what I've heard, Yoko HAS handed over the handling of the music side of John's estate to Sean.
To be honest I have always been an albums man myself and as a rule, I do not buy compilation albums basically because if you have the albums you will have most of the tracks that are on the compilation album anyway and at the most, there is only usually a couple of tracks on them you might not have. I have always seen compilation albums for those who want to get into a particular artist and that was what they were perhaps more aimed at and as you rightly said these days you can do all of that without buying the album at all on places like Spotify and TH-cam. To be honest I was never a Beatles fan and have never brought a Beatles album or a John Lennon album in my life. I did however buy a couple of Lennon's singles and also Paul McCartney's Band On The Run album and I perhaps have a lot more admiration for the Beatles these days to what I did back then and back then I was perhaps more into the Stones and prog rock. These days I do spend my money more on older albums, and I am more of a surround FREAK! these days and when I saw this release I took an interest in it and to be honest the only reason why I did was really down to that it's the first time ever I have come across any item priced in US dollars sold at the proper price here in the UK. For example, nearly everything like this I see being sold for so many dollars in America you can guarantee that the British Pound somehow manages to tally up to the same amount of dollars which is a complete rip off because the British Pound is worth more than a Dollar. This is why I have always avoided the new releases by The Beatles for example the Abbey Road Anniversary [3 CD/Blu-ray Super Deluxe] edition is priced on Amazon US at $82.92 and on Amazon UK its £82.73 when I looked a week ago. £82.73 is equivalent to $110.51. So I was well surprised when I saw this latest John Lennon release marked up at £48.20 instead of £79.98 or the US equivalent of $79.98 which is it on the official website they are selling it on. So I pre-ordered it and I have to say it's the most expensive compilation album I have ever brought and as a rule, I don't buy them either 😁😁😁
Box sets are largely a let down and don’t live up to the hype. With that being said, I look forward to this mostly because Lennon was 40 when he was murdered and it’s been 40 years since. I hope that the remixes are great and bring his voice to the forefront. Being a Beatles Fan from the get go (yes I’m old) and seeing the evolution of the Group. I’m still not over The Beatles. The reunion that most of us always hoped for never happened with the Murder of Lennon and the passing of George Harrison. I believe if they had lived that there would in fact had been some sort of a Reunion. Let’s enjoy and celebrate Lennon one more time.
Instant Karma: All-Time Greatest Hits already released in 2001. Yes there was a Gimme Some Truth 4 cd box set in 2010 celebrating Lennon’s 70th. There’s been 12 Lennon compilations, plus 6 box sets, we really don’t need another.
This is a celebration of his life compilation is okay with me Lennon is No.1 with me always
As for JL compilation albums, there was a very good one, "The John Lennon Collection", released in 1982. But the best of the best is "Working Class Hero - The Definitive Lennon" 2CD set (2005), which includes 2000-2005 remixes.
Because I love John Lennon period. It’s his 80th birthday. It’s remixed.

Every Compilation is important to keep his memory alive.

I agree with you👍🏻 I hope all he sound modern and different than the original releases.
'the artist' isn't remixing the songs, as 'the artist' is no longer with us. I'll stick to the mixes that 'the artist' had a hand in approving.
Remixed in 5.1 How is it going to sound on a normal sound system? Thru ear buds downloaded?

Best T shirt of all time. "Phase one in which Doris gets her oats."
Cheers! (Is that Chris?)
@@AndrewDixonMusic Tis indeed, dear boy. Love your videos BTW.
Go listen to Wings !
@@13THBEATLE Thank you for the recommendation, but that`s what I do anyway :-) Everyone has his own preferences in music and that`s fine. If you love Johns music, more power to you! :-)
How about ripoff!?
What concerns me that they are unlikely to release the much rumoured POB this year if they are releasing this ( not required ) compilation. Makes sense for Sean to take over as Yoko is pretty old and ill I believe...plus Sean's..goasst of the sabre tooth tiger and Lennon Delirium are both great bands. Incidentally the book of the making of POB album is still being released in October as its an anniversary year for that album
yeah fingers crossed this is in addition to POB and not instead of!
Put it with the other compilations:
Shaved Fish
Imagine, Music from the Motion Picture
The John Lennon Collection
Lennon Legend
Acoustic
Working Class Hero - The Definite Collection
Peace, Love & Truth
The U.S. vs. John Lennon
Also...
Lennon Anthology
I don't understand why they forgot "Mother" in a 36 song compilation by him.
20 years from now they will still be putting stuff out
Not sure on this one would’ve much preferred a plastic Ono band deluxe package
fingers crossed on that one, not sure what the latest is...
Definitely something I need to upgrade to at some point, would love to hear those mixes!
I Bought it to hear the mind games and walls and bridges tracks in 5.1. It's still on the way I can't wait!
Sorry not getting it. They Should release some of the rehearsal from Lennons Concert 1972..
Yes!
May I ask out of curiosity why those things would have been kept for years and decades?
AlexKx a couple of Years ago I Saw a youtube clip from the rehearsal, Maybe there is more
For those of us who have some of the old compilations, the 2CD deluxe box with the 5.1 should be nice. There is still a place for compilations nowadays. I hope the casual fans and millennials pick up this box set and support physical media! Sets like these can not be enjoyed by streaming or downloading.
I love the new remixes and levels. Its a great comp
Really interesting insights from Sean Lennon on his Radio 2 show last night! Now awaiting Paul's input on part 2 of his show tonight. How good would it be if they ever got back together...amazing and inspirational.
Yes was a great show, especially the Elton John section
The POB website now says that the box set will be released on 16th April
Hi Andrew,
Newly subscribed. Love your videos. I have come to your channel before. I am a huge LENNON fan... I mean I worship the man. I have most of the comps you showed and yes,
I do need this. Congrats to Universal and Yoko Ono for curating his legacy with class and not needing the break the piggybank. The Imagine box was sumptuous and I think this
will be something similar. Amazon.ca is offering it at 69.00 Canadian for the 2 CD/bluray with poster, book, postcards and stickers. Amazing deal. I will spoil myself... this
is the year to spoil oneself. LENNON, could these times use an icon like him. I agree too that Sean may eventually take over with the legacy curating and the like. I am hoping
to see an unboxing of this on your channel. Something tells me that you will go for it.
God bless and keep well,
Tino
Thanks Tino, Yes there will be an unboxing from me hopefully on release day, I've put an order in for it!
You must have some great memories from that day! Not many folk around can say they saw a John Lennon solo concert...
The high res audio is what gets me for all of these box sets. Plus I have a Dolby Atmos system. I love the remixes- Beatles, Paul, etc. that I have heard. And I like the books.
Atmos should be fun!
Andrew , have a Merry Christmas and A Happy New Year My Friend , Steve
Cheers Steve, same to you!
I would like to see the 50th anniversary of his debut album (John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band) with some outtakes and remasters.
We're all hoping for that!
I don’t mind anything of johns releases of music it’s John and that’s all that matters to me thanks for the music and that fab sense of humour ✌️🎸👋
That's great news! I'm hoping mine will arrive tomorrow and j will then be giving it plenty of attention 🙂👍
Andrew...the only one that doesn’t sound as sharp as the others although it’s still a marked improvement is #9 Dream. Apart from that the SQ all round really is...fab!
@@Johnnoblue I'm hearing that there's text in the box that confirms a Plastic Ono Band box set is coming, have you seen that?
Andrew...I haven’t, mate. Where did you see that? J 😊
Where did you get your T-shirt? I'd love to be able to purchase one of those.
I felt the same way when the last McCartney compilation was released. True fans have been (im)patiently waiting for the last 2 Wings LPs.
I think I will pass on this one. You make a great point about the change in compilation albums. Might buy the set for the 124 page hard booklet and the Come Together Live. Will have to see. Thanks for the informative video Andrew👍
If it’s hardback and 124 pages it’s more of a book than a ‘booklet’!
@@stevena9305 😂 True. My mistake
Diarmuid Wall - lol no worries. It’s actually one of the reasons I will buy this set.
Andrew Dixon thank you as always the 4cd 'Lennon Anthology' boxed set is the best with the booklet demos... fantastic !!!
Minor detail: the deluxe edition contains Angel Baby, a track currently absent from iTunes and Spotify!
I want a box set of the plastic one band album
Me too, I'd like to see a Walls and Bridges box set as well.
Hi Andrew,
Only a week to go until we get to see this lovely item unboxed. Yes, I preordered it too. If it is anything close to the Imagine box set.. it will be great. I have immense respect of Yoko and
the way she is curating the legacy of Lennon's back catalog and she is doing it at a fair price as opposed to Macca. I worship the man, the legend, icon and his songs and albums though
he doesn't have as many as the rest of the Beatles.... are incredible all of them.
So since Christmas will be canceled I will indulge and give myself the gift myself
God bless and keep well,
Tino
Cheers Tino, sounds like you will enjoy it very much!
I have the 2CD/Blu Ray box ordered and am looking forward to it 🙂👍
To be honest Andrew, I felt exactly the same way - why do we need another best of?. Someone in the comments section mentioned a 4 disc set released about 10 years ago with the same title ( which I own) - and I’m wondering if this new compilation is a re hash of this to some extent?. Based purely on content alone, there can’t be too much of a difference surely?
Either way, I can’t think of a single Lennon fan that hasn’t got all these tracks over,
Not particularly exciting unfortunately!
Hi Andrew, have you done a review video of this album?
Hi, I didn't do a review but I did do an an unboxing where I included thoughts on a few key tracks: th-cam.com/video/0r-N937NV3Q/w-d-xo.html
I’ll buy it for the sound and book.
Plus I Know I Know is making its first appearance on a compilation.
That song sounded great on the Mind Games remix a few years back.
Andrew Dixon yep and this hi-res will sound even better.
Absolutely Awesome News Hey Andrew
I Think they should release a 50th Anniversary deluxe edition of the Plastic ono Band , which is 50 years old on December 11th 2020 .
Fingers crossed, that's my big hope.
I don't own "Lennon Legend" on vinyl nowadays it's goin from £70 and upwards online, I might just purchase the double LP version of this and leave it there. Great discussion Andrew 👍👍
Cheers Emmett. I've decided to go for the Deluxe CD Blu Ray box
@@AndrewDixonMusic Happy Dayz, I don't believe there is any Video only music

Hi mate,
It looks good, the set.
Hi Pe, hope you;re right, Plastic Ono Band and All Things Must Pass would be a great end to a crappy year!
I don't remember seeing anything saying there will be video content, I'm certainly not expecting any.
Preordered!
The world needs Truth more than ever...John stood for it! ..Corruption,Lies and Politics! Remembering John is for me a part of Religion!
I thought the lennon anthology was an incredible release of raw and unbelievable material I love it. but I gotta agree with you on this, while it's a nice sentiment I am yet to see what hardcore lennon fans have to look forward to on this release. thanks for sharing
I like your t-shirt. Where can I get one?
Here it is Paul! amzn.to/32vLvdB
Great shirt, Oobs!
Cheers, had loads of people asking about it, couldn't remember where I bought it from but found it now! amzn.to/32vLvdB
Hi Andrew! I think you should record your own background music, with your acoustic guitar
I'd have to learn to play it better first!
5.1 sounds interesting.
if anything like previous 5.1 Beatles or solo...yes yes yes check out my previous remarks^
I hope they're done as well as the Imagine remixes, they sound great and is the only version of Imagine I'm really interested in hearing from now on.
Very much doubt that I'll be buying another compilation but I definitely want that T shirt you're wearing.
Here it is! amzn.to/32vLvdB
@@AndrewDixonMusic Thank you.
Wonder if this announcement means we won’t get a deluxe “plastic ono band”. Feels a bit like this has been put out as a stop gap for the 80th birthday in October and whether COVID has delayed the former?
Hopefully we'll still get it, I've not given up hope yet!
Me as a ''Younger person'' (from '98) really want the Vinyl version of this compilation, so I just ordered it ;)
Enjoy!
Nice T-shirt. I'm gonna look for one.
Track listing on previous set according to Wikipedia en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gimme_Some_Truth_(box_set) there is 36 tracks over 2 CDS on new release
Thanx for your blog dude but everybody has there own mind and will collect this in the way they prefer too thanx

Andrew Dixon Thanks! Question: does Doris actually get her oats?
Cash grab! I want a 50th pob reissue!
You forgot the 2 cd compilation "Working Class Hero" which DOES include the live version of Come Together.
Yes, what's not known yet is whether this compilation will include the afternoon or evening performance, only one of which has been released previously.
I'll be surprised if this goes into top 20....It's for people who aren't really fans...They should release john lennon 80 boxset...and double album..
Jason Lee Interestingly, it’s already in the best selling pre orders here on Amazon UK!. It’s John Lennon, it’s always going to appeal to someone, somewhere!.
John Lennon is the fucking greatest. And always will be.
I've put an order in for the same version, I've seen some pictures from that book recently and it does look really nice.
Unless it includes stuff from Some time in New York and Live in NYC, Lennon Legand has everything you need in one place
John's recent products do seem to have generally been a good price, glad to hear you're taking a chance on it!
I’m guessing it just a release to mark what would have been John’s 80th. Just wish it was something less generic.
Hopefully Michael the remixes will all be as good as the Imagine one from a couple of years ago, if so this could be a really interesting listen!
WAIT WASN'T GIMME SOME TRUTH THE NAME OF AN ALREADY RELEASED COMPILATION? They should've called it instant karma if they wanted to at least sell
Instant Karma: All-Time Greatest Hits already released in 2001. Yes there was a Gimme Some Truth 4 cd box set in 2010 celebrating Lennon’s 70th. There’s been 12 Lennon compilations, plus 6 box sets, we really don’t need another.
