Adding to the overall opinion : If they need money, drop the prices of items in the shop. I've checked the shop so many times wanting to buy, for example, the large bags and just didn't because it's too expensive. Would 100% buy more if the prices were to be slashed 50%
Yeah I think that's fair. IRL I have a decent job and US cost of living so it doesn't seem so bad, but not many are so fortunate. I just give them 15$ a month like I would blizzard, and that eventually adds up.

Thanks for the report! If the devs have money issues, they could make the shop items cheaper. I won't buy a mount for 50€, but if I could get 5 for 10€ each, I'd do it. If prices were at least halved more often, I would buy more things. Some of my characters still need repair bots, but I'm waiting for the sale. As it is right now, everything in the shop is way to expensive.
The half off sale is never returning either, unfortunately to be replaced by token bundle deals and smaller sales. I agree though if the prices were lower I think they would make more total sales. I stocked up on all the utility stuff during the last sale and probably won't spend anything else.

I would say they are inexperienced. There's a screenshot of Daniel logged in as root. Which I don't think I need to explain how catastrophic that is if you have any knowledge of linux.

I really don't care that Turtle devs (maybe even Torta) were part of item selling or whatever, they were probably teenagers at the time and we all make mistakes. The only thing I care about is that for the last SIX YEARS the Turtle team has been running the best private server I've ever seen with none of the corruption of past servers. They (if it is even true...) have been more than forgiven and have without a doubt earned their current reputation as the best WoW private server!

In lieu of the official bug tracker being down still, I'd like to let any GMs reading this know that the glyph masters are missing from *ALL* the starting zones on Tel'Abrim. Considering the challenges are part of what makes Turtle WoW so unique and fun, I hope they're back up soon!
I believe this is by design, they are not meant to be on Tel'Abim as there is basically already War Mode enabled as it's a PVP server. As I recall, the team has said they don't see the other challenge modes as being designed to go with PVP. When the website is back up, you could definitely post in the suggestions on the forums that you think they should be added.

I for one am just super excited for Turtle WoW 2! I have dreamed of a WoW with an updated engine and graphics and am VERY much looking forward to experiencing that. All the crazy systems and gear grinding, and daily chores of current WoW (retail) has become too fucking much. Vanilla WoW truly was a great experience, and I know that now thanks to Turtle WoW. I am currently playing on a Wrath server because I like BC and Wrath a lot too. But I WILL be back for Turtle WoW 2!!!
In a way yeah it kind of turned into that. After interviewing so many people, I just felt like telling the story from am angle not many consider. Everyone loses when guys like that "win".
So, been MIA from turtle for a couple if months and missed the hack. But here is the big picture takeaway. 1. TWoW didnt know a lot about cyber security but i reckon they took a crash course in it after. 2. Torta is sheena omg.... Yeah, most of us know the drama and pretty much agree with that statement even though it has been refuted by torta. We dont care man. 3. I still have mixed feelings about TWoW keeping their code private knowing what it was built upon. There is often a difference between what is right and what is fair, and i dont have the wisdom to know the correct course of action here. 4. While i feel the team did the best they could handling the situation, i feel they, both before and even more since the hack, have gotten a tad touchy and trigger happy with their power. That, however, is just a feeling.
My only problem after combing through the screenshots is the one mention of an exit scam. Tbf there's no other context provided in the screen , however it's not a good look. I'll keep playing on turtle cause I really don't wanna play anything else and I have 2 60's there already.
Some weird people claims that turtle wow staff have ''shade people'' and their past is dark. If they don't damage me or take my data, I don't care about their lives and their past.
That's the problem , the people suspected of running twow ( AKA Crogge and Shenna ) HAVE stolen data and done shady stuff before in the past such as selling gold / spawning characters. However whether said people are running the server is not 100% known. Just conspiracies with breadcrumbs.
@@buhfur4694 What made me sure Torta is Shenna wasn't that they are both women with Russian background with server management experience but that when Torta celebrated b-day, someone pointed out the date was the same as on Shenna's Elysium profile, which would have been a 1 in 365 coincidence already, but then the b-day date on Shenna's profile got promptly removed. There is no more place for doubt
You can see in the source code leak, that they gave 'secret' stats boost to certain player characters.. I assume this is people from the staff that is also PVP'ers.
I did see some "sus" stuff between players but every time I looked it was between GM and GM or on a PTR server which is staff only. If you have any references and think I missed something I can take a look.
the sad thing is, he's only able to make that "hur dur aint this funny" statement because the data IS out there. Someone DOES have it that isn't supposed to. Your account wont be safe til you change your password and oh wow wouldn't ya know? The site's been down.
lol i was banned on discord my second or third day of my year + on TWoW. The GMs / Mods are sensitive children. Just move on and keep enjoying the server if you still enjoy it.
I would imagine yes, and there are appeal forums, but their sites are still down for now. I'm sure if you look around the comments here you can take a guess as to why the mods tend to be so trigger happy, there are a lot of bad actors.

To some unsavory places in the internet, that I'd rather not share. In part to not give those places free advertisement and because it would be a safety concern there are a lot of malicious files hanging around there for the uninitiated.

I was given access to that knowledge, through behind the scenes contacts. It was a low level system, but how they password was "cracked" isn't exactly known. Might have possibly been a brute force hack internally or a team member might have lost access somewhere externally. I do know a little more about it, but I'd prefer not to offer details until the vulnerability has been fixed fully.

100% independent, the team didn't even like me publishing this at all. I did speak pretty frankly about the team making mistakes, that's how this happened. Did you... Watch? They harass me all the time as is, I serve the community first and foremost. If you think I withheld information I'd like to remind you that alot that was used for this was unethically sourced information. I'm not going to "leak DMs" for entertainment, that's gross despite what people think is normal.

Turtle has been up for 6 years, and hasn't had many issues whatsoever. Its not a scam server, it has a huge development team and thousands of players. People just see them as a boogeyman.
From the leaked internal voice chat of Elysium officers I understood Shenna was an active GM spending 12+ hours managing the server but had no income because there was no in-game shop, so started selling gold and whatnot to get by. Maybe this is her redemption arc by making the perfect vanilla server with shop to support its employees..

This is mostly speculative but I believe it was a brute Force attempt by the hacker. So yes it was guessed but only by using a script that guesses as quickly as possible.
They had root access to the main server. I understand you're upset your favorite server got hacked but dont be disingenuous. You dont get a root shell by "just guessing a password". Many many layers of security need to fail for that to happen. It was a colossal fuck up by the turtle admins and developers.

They are not missing in Tel'abim, they are by design not supposed to be there.

They would only have access to your real name if you used your real name as part of your turtle wow email address.
