Big Shot, Vienna, Scenes from an Italian Restaurant, New York State of Mind, River of Dreams, You May Be Right, Movin’ Out. Hard to find a bad Billy Joel song.
Billy Joel said in an interview once that "Scenes from an Italian Restaurant" is the most favorite song that he ever wrote. I highly recommend checking that out.
Dude, in case you haven’t figured it out yet, you’re listening to one of the greatest musical geniuses of the past 50 years. Any track of his you’ll find is epic. Plenty of others above have recommended his stuff….go for any one of them, you won’t be disappointed!
I was literally just thinking that every time I hear a Billy Joel song, even though I know them all by rote, I am re-amazed. Dude seriously has a gift.
You said Billy has been consistent for about 30 years. It's a lot longer than that. His first album was back in the early 1970's! He is still performing today over 50 years later! The man is a legend. ❤
Check out Billy Joel - Pressure - Moving Out - My Life - Only the Good Die Young - Just the way you are.......... please check out these bangers!! Starting with Pressure in order
He has so many great songs!! Still rock and roll to me, She's always a woman, The longest time, The river of dreams, Movin out, Only the good die young, You may be right, My life, Vienna! I could go on and on!! Lol
If it's any consolation, he doesn't have a hairline like that anymore either. He is everything you're saying he is though. He's a great songwriter, a great singer, and a great piano player! All his songs demonstrate what a great songwriter he is. He has a song called For the Longest Time, which is an acapella song with multiple part harmony in which he sings every part in the studio version, which demonstrates what a great singer he is, and he composed a ragtime song called Root Beer Rag, which is just an old ragtime, piano instrumental, which shows what a great piano player he is. You're gonna love New York State of Mind. There's a video that all the reactors use of Billy Joel and his band performing it live in a club, which is the coolest thing you've ever seen. He gets to showcase all of his abilities in that one. His saxophone player is incredible in that video too!
perfect react/analysis, BP!!! This era of Billy Joel is otherworldly...so many great jams...I know you love and appreciate our veterans as do I, check out "Goodnight Saigon" it is moving and gutwrenching...you'll love it
This was after Piano Man in the late 70's, one of my favorites from that time (hard to pick just one though). Just The Way You Are is one to react to, She's Always a Woman, a tender ballad called She's Got a Way, Scenes from An Italian Restaurant and many others mentioned here. Billy's definitely a rabbit hole.
Continue your BJ journey with „always a woman“. its the most honest, selfless, beautiful songs about love ever written. Its about loving someone with all faults. You can never ask for more in life ❤
such a great song. that and 'the great suburban showdown' are two from those early albums that nobody's ever heard of but for me they just marked him out so hard as someone special, because of the things he elected to write entire songs about.
VIENNA, SCENES FTOM AN ITALIAN RESTAURANT, BIG SHOT, MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT, and SCENES FROM AN ITALIAN RESTAURANT. These are some of his best songs. The songwriting is superb on these stories. Keep going and enjoy
I think you'll like his song "Big Shot". Billy Joel's lyrics are always straight up, telling it like it is. Usually when I listen to his songs, I can picture two people having a conversation, saying exactly what he's singing...
Billy Joel and Elton John. Two great songwriters/ singers/performers. They paired up for a special concert tour with the two of them on stage, each sitting at a piano facing the other. So incredible. I wish I had been there!
Waiting for him to discover Elton John. Just today I heard Elton John and Bernie Taupin receivde the Library of congree Gershwin Prize for popular song
@@markvanderstelt8999 Bernie writes the lyrics and then Elton sets them to music. There have been times in the past when they were not even on the same continent so Bernie would at the time, fax a new 'song' to Elton.
Love me some Billy! When the album Stranger came out, my husband and I were travelling up and down Alaska for 3 weeks. Knew that album word for word, still my fav! But there is a song, River of Dreams that really speaks to me, almost like a religious experience. Another one you should check out. Great reaction Peg. ❤️🔥🇨🇦
Hey man... Billy Joel can rock-and-roll, too! I'll never forget riding with my older cousin, Dave, in his convertible back in 1979 with the top down, the radio blasting... and him singing "You May Be Right" at the top of his lungs, and thinking that was just about the coolest moment I had ever experienced in my 11-year-old life.
"Pressure" book ends "We Didn't Start the Fire." As far as instance tonality. "Just the Way You Are" for good ballad writing there. too. "For The Longest Time" for more of the "Uptown Girl" in flavor.
Billy is is of our generation's greatest singer/songwriters.Great reaction.Checkout his songs Allentown, and Good Night Saigon.Awesome music from a great entertainer.
Billy Joel is an incredible song writer and performer. One of the finest. Scenes From An Italian Restaurant, She’s Got A Way, Still Rockin Roll To Me, Movin Out, Big Shot, Just The Way You Are, Allentown, just too many songs to list. He’s iconic, a total Legend. So glad you’re checking him out!!
Love watching you react to music from my day -- Billy Joel has been my favorite since I heard Piano Man - 50 years ago - His voice is different on every song - his lyrics are so clear you can picture what he is saying. I saw him twice in concert, last time after he wrote "He Didn't Start The Fire". Remember no auto tune; just straight up singing and the amazing piano! I'm a grandmother who grew up in the 70's. I still like all types of music, but love classic rock - early ones - Queen, Beetles, Carly Simon, even Neal Young - to name a few - real music with either a guitar or piano. You HAVE to listen to Linda Ronstadt's Blue Bayou - she will blow your socks off.
Yeah, this song dropped and hit like a hammer. Hard to argue with those who feel that Billy Joel is the greatest singer-songwriter of our lifetimes. Musically powerful, and tells a story that speaks straight to the heart.
Oh wow. I completely and utterly forgot all about this incredible song. It brought back a flood of memories. It also remined me how great of a song writer Billy Joel is. Thanks for reacting to this one.
It's not my fault liberals suck. I get it, you put all your energy into backing thieve it's hard to admit you're wrong but it only took 3 years to burn down the country, las time it was this bad Jimmy Carter was in the Oval. As a father I would check out Vienna. It's a beautiful song to listen to with children, it's about slowing down you'll get where you're going but it's okay to slow it down and not worry about everything. It's something I hope my daughter will understand
I was high one night, early 80's, 18 year old punk. There was a late night tv show with Billy Joel live in concert. There was nothing else to watch so I lay on the floor and watched that. It was one of the greatest things I had watched on TV. Blew me away.
Only the good die young/ moving out/ you may be right/ goodnight saigon/ Allentown /The stranger/ All about soul/ Matter of trust ..... just to name a few 😂
This colossus of a singer songwriter has so so many killer tracks. I highly recommend Billy’s 1976 album 'Turnstiles'...Say Goodbye To Hollywood, Miami 2017, Prelude/Angry Young Man, Summer Highland Falls…simply sublime storytelling.
NY State Of Mind, The Longest Time, Just the Way You Are, Downeaster Alexa, Anthony's Song (Movin Out), Only The good Die Young, The Stranger, You May Be Right, Still Rock & Roll To Me, Always A Woman, Scenes From An Italian Restaurant, She's Got A Way, Allentown... the rabbit hole is endless. Fun Fact Black Pegasus....Billy Joel is the 4th best selling solo artist of ALL TIME according to Wiki he's only Behind Michael Jackson,Garth Brooks & Elvis..that is REALLY impressive
It's impossible for him to write a bad song (if you ignore Uptown Girl) , his story telling is second to none and his vocal range and voice is so good. He is just in a league of his own.
"Goodnight Saigon" and "Allentown." He has such a gift for shining the truth-light on the Human experience, whether it's love, heartache, trauma, joy, etc. Both songs I've mentioned are perfect examples of this (along with other songs already recommended and that you've reacted to). Highly encourage you to check them out (grab tissues for Goodnight Saigon). 👍🏽
Ive been to see him at least 10 times. Theres sooo many. ❤ love that u like him....❤❤❤🎉 best show was Madison Square Garden!!! Hes still got it at 70+. The catalog will blow minds. Just also him at Gillette stadium w the amazing Stevie Nicks!!!❤🎉 and yes he writes his shit!!!! You may be right!!! Obviously Fire....movin out. The entertainer!! 80s joel keeping the faith! 😄 lol. Welcome to the billy joel fan club what!!! Love him
A Matter of Trust... The live clip with everyone on the street below.. Brilliant & True & Up Beat & the ppl just hearing from below everywhere!! A Classic!! Much Love n Respect Aussie Girl Mate!!👍🦘💯👍😀❤️
This is a great suggestion for you and your wife. Make a great spaghetti dinner. Get a bottle of Red or a bottle of White . It all depends upon your appetite.( You will get the meaning😊) Start with the first album. Listen to them together in chronological order As he sings his stories use your imagination. Make listening to Billy Joels catalog date nights. You will deepen your knowledge of history, friendship and intimacy. I call it The Billy Joel project. My husband and and I did this before he passed from cancer. We were married for 23 years ❤
Billy Joel also played like Madison Square Garden well over 100 shows and I want to say that they were like every weekend or something. I can’t remember what record they broke and then he also had a huge concert that was on DVD called last play at Shea Stadium before they tore it down, I saw him on the piano to piano tour where he played opposite Elton John and they played each other stuff they would just switch back-and-forth they could easily play what the other had written, and they played for four hours!
Billy Joel and Elton John the best piano players/songwriters of the last 50 years (Joel wrote his own lyrics as well). You've got to dive in to Elton's early stuff as well.
Always a Woman, Just the Way you Are, The Stranger, Only the Good Die Young, Still Rock & Roll to me, so many truly fabulous absolute hits!
Hell yeah
Still Rocking N Roll to Me! Is a great Billy Joel song!! He was married to Supermodel Christie Brinkley. I think that's who he sang Uptown Girl about.
Awesome once again brother. Everything rainbow said, you gotta go down this rabbit hole. Can't stop now. Here till the end mate.
All awesome! Hit after hit with Billy Joel!
Big Shot, Vienna, Scenes from an Italian Restaurant, New York State of Mind, River of Dreams, You May Be Right, Movin’ Out. Hard to find a bad Billy Joel song.
HE IS ABSOLUTELY THE BEST LIVE!!!!!!! WORTH EVERY DIME
Please react to GOODNIGHT SIAGNON! ❤ The lyrics are Bars!!! Its about Vietnam and every concert he has veterans on stage singing the chorus.
He’s still selling out Madison Square Garden, just at his 100th show there this year. Maybe you can catch the man live 😊
Billy Joel said in an interview once that "Scenes from an Italian Restaurant" is the most favorite song that he ever wrote. I highly recommend checking that out.
It’s my favorite Billy Joel song, shows the best in his storytelling, piano playing and vocal range
Probably my favorite song of his, but honestly I might say that about 15 of his songs.
One of my favorites is "Innocent Man"!
Billy Joel is a class act.
If you ever get around to reacting to his song “River of Dreams”, you should do the version where he performed it at The Grammys”. It’s fantastic!
“Just the Way You Are” is a Must Listen!
Billy Joel... One of the deepest of rabbit holes to explore.
Scenes From An Italian Restaurant 🔥🔥🔥
Billy Joel the GOAT. Apologies, let me take that out of my vocabulary; he's just a LEGEND.
You said Billy has been consistent for about 30 years. It's a lot longer than that. His first album was back in the early 1970's! He is still performing today over 50 years later! The man is a legend. ❤
Exactly since the 70's just an incredible musician and composer.
I was rechecking my own personal age when he said that 😂
yes, I wish it was only 30 years ago, lol. @@jennhurl
My very first concert, it set me on ajourney to find great music. None better than Billy
Scenes From An Italian Restaurant. Just trust all of us.

All of Billy Joel's songs are amazing. Check out his songs from the Old Grey Whistle, like New York State of Mind and Angry Young Man to name a few.
He has so many great songs!! Still rock and roll to me, She's always a woman, The longest time, The river of dreams, Movin out, Only the good die young, You may be right, My life, Vienna! I could go on and on!! Lol
Fun fact. He doesn’t sell front row tickets. He has roadies get people out of the nosebleed section to sit in the front row at his concerts
Vienna
One of BJoel's best most meaningful songs. Very beautiful.
If it's any consolation, he doesn't have a hairline like that anymore either. He is everything you're saying he is though. He's a great songwriter, a great singer, and a great piano player! Captain Jack is one of my favorites.

One of the BEST song ever written!!! Just the Way is another awesome one but you have to do New York State of Mind...SOOON!
Early Billy Joel is the BEST Billy Joel. IMO he jumped the shark around Uptown Girl and it never got a lot better after that.
Continue your BJ journey with „always a woman“. its the most honest, selfless, beautiful songs about love ever written. Its about loving someone with all faults. You can never ask for more in life ❤
“THE ENTERTAINER”-
As a musician you really need to check out his song about the music industry. It’s called “The Entertainer”.
I second this! But do the Live version from “The Old Grey Whistle”!
such a great song. that and 'the great suburban showdown' are two from those early albums that nobody's ever heard of but for me they just marked him out so hard as someone special, because of the things he elected to write entire songs about.
you should listen to Just The way you are. It's soooo good. One of my faves, and Keeping the Faith you will relate to also.
