      It's high on my list. 2017 will be flyers and xenos armies. I spent a lot of last year on Imperial stuff. The Fall of Cadia might add to that though haha.

    Hey there, if you are concerned about super glue frosting your clear parts, dip the clear parts in Future floor polish and let them fully dry, this will protect them from the effects. I believe in the UK it is called "Johnson's Clear". It also has the added benefits of making the parts more clear and transparent as it hides small surface scratches and imperfections.
    Great videos, hope this helps!

    • @Sup3rSaiy3n
      @Sup3rSaiy3n  7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Yeah I agree it is incredibly expensive but luckily there aren't many of these expensive models around. The Warlord is £1,240, Manta is £1,050 then the Stormbird at £750, so it's the third most expensive model they make out of almost 800 models which is about 0.3%.They're definitely a niche product in an already niche market. Thankfully most FW models are typically under £100.

    It's certainly a very splendid ( if rather expensive ) model ! And I agree, it's really one for collection purposes rather than for playing. personally, I wouldn't allow it in any game I was playing. And not just because of it being so hugely overpowered. It quickly became obvious that the thing is pretty damn heavy ( the little grunts you gave when just lifting some of it gave that way, lol ). imagine the devestation that thing would cause to minis and scenery if it were to be dropped on the table ! And if bits broke off of it during that, the shrapnel could quite literally destroy half of someone's army ( it would likely be used for deep-striking as well so it would be held in the air to place it ) ! If it happened during an apocolypse game the bill could run int £1000s... Titans et al can just be pushed around on the table so they are not as dangerous. Although the idea of a Warlord Titan toppling over doesn't bear thinking about either, lol. The repair job would be huge. And maybe even replacements would be needed ! It's not safe for use in my opinion. Especially as an accident like that would likely cause violence, lol. It is a very cool model though.

    This thing is so god damn beautiful, much better than the Thunderhawk, there is a reason my chapter uses these
    In the background fluf (I don't own one unfortunately although even if I did it would be SO IMPRACTICAL!)This thing must be near impossible to play with unless your doing a mini apocalypse game, even then it must be so hard to move around without causing devastation to everything around it

    While it’s out of my price range; (at least until my inheritance rolls in..hahaha) it’s amazing to see. It’s further amazing how nice of a job you’ve done too! Any plans to use in large weekend game, or display/collection only? Paint scheme?(I imagine you’ll paint it up to go with your Blood Angel successor chapter?)

    I wonder if it would fly if it was thrown. I'll have to buy one to try it.
    On a different note, it looks like it would be great for playing a small kill team game on

      I'd recommend sticking to cheaper aeroplanes of the paper variety if I were you ;) Yeah would make a fantastic centre piece to a small battle or skirmish.

    Lovely video and model, but how does it stand on any base? This and the thunderhawk bewilder me in terms of game use.

    • @Sup3rSaiy3n
      @Sup3rSaiy3n  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I'm with you on that one. These super heavy flyers need some sort of base and stand to be developed by Forge World. Impossible to use in game without a custom made base and stand, something most hobbyists would find tricky. Due to the rarity of them, there only being 3 huge flyers (Tau Manta, Stormbird and Thunderhawk).
      If I ever used it in a game it would only ever be in an Apocalypse game where the board is a hall - just so I can camp in the corner and use that mmmm sweet sweet Unlimited range Orbital Strike for the lulz. - No seriously I wouldn't do that. On a board, we're talking 8x8 minimum here, I'd probably build a triangle base to mirror its landing feet and then attach another base (possibly glass) 30-40cm higher. So pretty much two bases raised up on three struts. That way I can keep the model as a show piece and have the flexibility of using it in a battle. - I will keep everyone posted on this.
      I've decided mine isn't going on a stand but there is a decent place to drill and incorporate one into the model for someone with the required skills.

    2K game with this model xD, wonder how easy/hard it would be to shoot this 1 down, since it cost 850 points and for 150 OS makes half of points and fill some demi-company inside and sweep the rest after some shooting.

    • @Sup3rSaiy3n
      @Sup3rSaiy3n  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah that would be fun to run through a few scenarios. I can't think of any Xenos threat that could bring it down off the top of my head so I'll focus on blue on blue for now.
      Scenario - Let's say in this instance we could use those Firestorm Redoubts in 30K which are 200 points each and let's say we're allowed 3 fortifications so that's 600 points for 12 twin-linked lascannon range 96 inch shots that have interceptor and skyfire. Incredible AA imo as they're high damage and are guaranteed to hit. Then fill out the rest of the force with a couple of flyers and anti-air units.
      Result - The controlling player could just sit at 100 or 120 inches away and fire those 6 Dreadstrike missiles which are str 10 Blast 3" and also use the Orbital Strike. Then just sit there and continue to use it. Depending on AA placement the OS could wipe out 2+ emplacements/units per turn. And that's without it even getting into range of enemy fire.
      Strategy - To take this thing out effectively you need to get into range and the only way that's going to happen is if it chooses to fly into range or you get similar flyers into range of it. Unlike a Titan where you can deep strike via drop pod or teleport, flank, arrive from reserve, psychic gateway, ambush etc. But let's say hypothetically there are 5 Leviathan dreadnoughts on board and the pilot is itching to drop them on your doorstep. It gets in range of your army's guns. Taking all the damage on the nose would mean knocking down the 2 void shields first but as it is a flyer the force would be firing snap shots (we're not talking about skyfire here). So sixes to hit, maybe a few hit then let's say they are missiles not lascannons so maybe one shield is dropped. Best case scenario both shields are dropped and something else hits and penetrates. The Stormbird then gets its 5+ save against that before a hull point is taken off. But let's say a few hull points are dropped. It still has 9 left but at the end of its next turn can then roll for the void shields to come back online, can now fire all of its own weaponry at different targets, which would include 4 twin-linked lascannons and 3 twin-linked Heavy Bolters, missiles, OS and most importantly can unload those 5 Dreadnoughts.
      As you can see in a game it could be more damaging than a Warlord Titan. Mainly because of the way it enters the board, is difficult to react to and forces the opponent to alter their strategy to deal with it or brace against its attack. A Warlord can be seen for miles around, there are multiple ways to engage it, preferably with flyers, it can only move 12" max and its weapons have a fixed range and it only has four of them (not counting point-defence weaponry).
      Compared to a ThunderHawk the Stormbird is much more survivable. Not only because it can loiter out of range of enemy guns (ThunderHawk Turbo laser is 96" - same as those FireStorm Quad Lascannons) but also has the Void Shields, Reinforced Structure (5+ inv) and then its 14 armour and more HPs. The fully-equipped Stormbird over the base ThunderHawk for an extra 225 points means you really get a lot more options for your points. The ThunderHawk looks cool but in reality is really quite flimsy - 9 HPs Armour 12, 10 at the rear, although you can give it a chaff launcher, Flare shield, void-crafted hull etc but then you're looking at 935 points - 85pts more than a Stormbird at base level.
