Revenant is over. Here's what I have to say about it.

- episode 2 revenant is complete, with episode 3 launching on the 4th. while i don't think there was anything super terrible about the episode, i don't know how many things went well enough to elicit any sort of a strong, positive response (besides the dungeon... which isn't a part of the episode).

shout out to Bungie/Sony for firing staff at arguably the worst time in franchise history.
arguably? last time community sentiment was this low was curse of osiris if im not mistaken, back then, they at least had activision soaking up any losses, bungie simply cant afford to fuck up if they dont want to be completely swallowed up by sony.
@ThePresidentofMars pretty sure the suits do in fact want to be swallowed by Sony. Bungie has jumped from sugar daddy to sugar daddy, just waiting for one of them to finally keep them.
It’s so Pete parsons can get more cars
Ya pete parsons and Sony designed the system... idiots.
@@Trevoroxx yup he designed the system so he could use the money they use for the game to buy his cara
I did this entire episode this week. It’s hilarious how short the actual story is. Go to the last city to talk to Eido next step move two feet to the right and talk to Eido on the radio 😂
NO LITERALLY like there's no reason the characters YAPPING at you should have more screen time than the actual gameplay.
@ for real
Not that it's any excuse, but it's clear how things would have been paced out if the story had been dolled out weekly. Breaking things up with Eido's fieldwork and runs of onslaught or tomb.
Just shows what happens when time gates are (mostly) removed.
To be fair it usually would have been spaced out over multiple weeks, so you wouldn't just be going back and forth over and over. They also used to make you run the seasonal activity between dialogue segments, but the entire community complained about that and called it bloat. I agree though that we should really just have dialogue more intertwined into gameplay, and I'm hoping that's what they'll be moving towards with Heresy and Frontiers.
nooo no, you forgot you gotta then talk to a ghost to speak to spider, then go speak to eido, then speak to mithrax and then eido again all through the projector... the ghost is important here.
Best part of season, when you had to speak to Eido, then spoke to Holoprojector of Variks, then Eramis, then holoprojector of Eido, then Eido was back in the room and we talked to Variks again, then Eramis, then Eido again, and then you delete the game from your console.
I did the whole episode in a day, no fucking joke (i came back after months of being away, since episode 1 act 1)
@ ouch. I did week 2 maybe, stopped, came back last week & did a bunch all in one day and it was brutal. I was not in the mood especially with those quest steps at holoprojector back & forth.
Brutal story telling. Not a fan.
There was one point where we talked to Misraaks on the holoprojector, while he’s standing in the room behind you. I literally closed the game after that moment.
Not to mention that the Major Fieldwork was missing voice lines in the first act and there's no way to replay the dialogue after they were supposedly fixed.
You'd land in the patrol space, instance into a separate space to start the field work, kill 15 red bars then sit in silence after the quest completed.
Or like the complete disappointment in the “missions” where all you did was kill 15 enemies. Could’ve been ANYTHING else and been much better. I would’ve rather had a random objective like do a specific raid, dungeon, or seasonal thing in order to complete fieldworks
Having the dialogue play during the mission would’ve been way better
Destiny has an interesting way of punishing players that do content early.
@@MrNuclearz The duality of Destiny:
When I play content early - "Don't do this mission or claim this reward as it's currently bugged. If you already did this thing, you're just shit out of luck."
When I don't play early - 🧀 "Hey guys, you're here for infinite materials, free event card upgrades, duping cool rewards, auto completing missions/triumphs and impossible god roll weapons. Do this before it gets patched 30 minutes before you're able to play."
Bungie then lets everyone who took advantage of beneficial bugs keep all their gains or they revert/fix things retroactively depending solely on if I personally got anything out of it...
This happened to me. I missed almost all the story back then, I only realized there was even _meant to be some_ later when some others mentioned the dialogue was broken. Crow is my favorite character so that really sucked.
“I don’t know what was going on with this whole system… but LITERALLY never do this again” 😂🤣😭💀
Fikrul really should've been Crow's to kill and not ours. Would've also made at least some kind of impact if during that version of Kell's Fall Crow actually participated somehow... like throwing a Tether at bosses and going back invis.
Bungie and sweating profusely over making us the main protag where unnecessary (fikrul) and using a random nearby character to off the villain of the week (saint and ikora vs Maya) go hand in hand atp
@@icarusrising2787 The latter one could've been not-bad if Maya actually got obliterated by those supers instead of just tanking them and going for a swim.
She's made of vex milk - being torn to a few thousand pieces couldn't hurt her and those pieces just melting back into the river with her laughing would've been something to see.
You know what - I think I'll just forget those episodes ended like they did and go with my headcanon so I recall less bad about the game later.
@@z--r0 you could easily go with the headcanon that echoes never happened and you wouldnt have missed anything...at all.
Could have recreated the "Uldren, Cayde" and later "Zavala, Crow" shot by having Crow stand over a weakened Fikrul.
"Why, Father?"
"Because I love you."
And he stabs him with the anti resurrection gas or whatever it was.
happy to hear I'm not alone with micromanaging tonics and artifacts. Half the time I drank one i didnt have the artifact mod active. After a while, I gave up.
The main issue is that even after interacting with the system, the game is not hard enough where these artifact bonus perks actually matter and the content that is hard has no meaningful loot to get (an issue for all of D2 for the most part)
This was all of us
With Bungie eventually changing the drop rates from tonic weapons they basically got their bluff called, players bounced and the proof was in the drop off in population numbers. I think Bungie really expected the activity to be similar to Into The Light days of people just living in Onslaught but failed to realize that was content people engaged with at a time when there was such a long drought AND the weapons were a lot better to warrant the time in the activity.
If the weapons are just so-so, fine side grades, even if you have the agency of the weapon dropping in all activities, you probably aren't going to spend an absurd amount of time min/maxing the efficiency of your tonic popped especially when the drop rates were a lot worse. Even after the fixes, it still took me an incredibly long time to see any loot worth holding onto.
@thealldayspecial my vault is overflowing with guns I will never use that continue to be as good as everything being released outside of exotics and new frame types.
I try to keep my artifact up but a lot of builds aren’t dependent on stuff like that, it’s usually just a buff that makes the game a little more fun. I just about ignored tonics entirely lmao, was not worth it whatsoever
Crow and Fikrul relationship should've been explored more, it's a shame that they didn't and instead letting other characters lead the story. Tonic system and the fieldworks feels redundant and more about clearing a check mark.
That requires good writers
The fieldworks could’ve been cool if they weren’t so stupid easy and quick. They’re one of the few activities in the games history that genuinely felt like a slap in the face and a complete filler waste of time. At least other things that come close of some sort of fun value or loot but not the fieldworks
The fieldwork had no real rewards. The last batch I didn’t even bother with because there isn’t a point.
@@riddleoffeels4518besides the sick ghost shell there was no reward
Nah, that's 3 years from now when Crow's face explodes before finishing the conversation. Then 2 episeasons later you find a recording that just says the 3 words he didn't get out, which reveals things a trailer has already shown for the next seasisode.
Major fieldworks were so bad I couldn't even be mad. Just made me laugh it was so mind-blowingly dull
It took more time to load into Europa and drive to the mission marker than it took to actually complete the mission
Literally didn't rank up past guardian rank seven because of them
The defeat 5/5 Servitors on EDZ and your only options are the ones from the Servitor Public Event and the random wandering world boss, and of course everybody like minded rushes to it and assists don't count so you could easily find yourself sitting on your hands waiting for the Public event to spawn again because you were just a hair too slow to get the credit.
Felt like Year 1 bad times.
Me: "Okay, load into Europa and kill 50 dudes in this area, ezpz"
I got over to the spot and it would spawn a couple of dregs every like 30-60 seconds. Like dawg, just make me run the seasonal activity at this point.
I have a feeling the Devs were embarrassed about putting those Major Fieldworks in there but they are up against it and the show must go on. Its embarrassing really for a company as big as Bungie to flounder like this.
I was about 20 minutes away from having my own opinion on something...that was a close one datto

i love that i can sum up this season as "Fikrul confronts his daddy issues, and Miisraax has a schizophrenic episode"
Episodes as described by Dracula Flow...
Eramis proves that she is a b*tch for the 7th time and finally deports herself out of Sol.
"Evil genocidal space lesbian handsomely rewarded despite repeated failures"
Revenant, to me, screams 'missed opportunity' in a lot of ways.
The final fight with Fikrul, even on hard mode, is insanely easy. Why show us Fikrul reviving the Mad Bomber and the Mindbender if they're not gonna show up in the final fight?
Fikrul had one of the toughest boss fights as a Nightfall boss, why was his exotic mission fight so lame and easy? Why show us Fikrul reviving the Mad Bomber and the Mindbender if they're not gonna show up in the final fight?
Why set up the stakes with Misraaks being possessed by Nezarec if we're just going to hand-wave the resolution by giving the Echo to Eramis?
Why show us Skolas for one mission just for him to duck back out immediately?
Why introduce the Revenant Plane for exactly one mission without giving it any real mechanical or narrative relevance?
And-once again, like Echoes-why is the final stretch of the story just "Run this exact same exotic mission three-four times in a row"?
Fikrul's fight should have been a veritable "boss rush" of the various Scorn Barons we fought in Forsaken, all of whom should have had something akin to the Revenant Baron mechanic of some sort of totem needing to be destroyed to prevent their revival, and Fikrul should have been finished off by Crow, not us. And Fikrul should also have been way more active in the fight, and with WAY more health, or at least scaled up health to match if you have a full fireteam.
Revenant wasn't the worst "season" in D2, but it was far from the best. I can only hope they're setting up for Frontiers by having the Echo-bearers leaving the solar system.
Ah but you forget, if you wanted to craft the tonics, you would’ve had to run the exotic mission at least 20 times in a row
@@roguedy I got by with only running it 7 or 8 times I think.
Which is still WAY more than one should be running an exotic mission, imo.
It’s really cool too it’s a shame it’s so easy
The Mithrax one hurts the most. Would’ve been a great setup for a new villain had Mithrax been taken over by Nezarec and left to begin scheming for a later storyline
Personally I'd say the regular strike of hallowed lair was harder than kell's fall. His wipe mechanic requires effort to get caught by, he no longer tethers us, and his only attacks are the same arc staff shot and ultra slam. My biggest takeaway from the scorn barons in general is that back in forsaken Elykris says "the barons fight together!" But they never do. And there's no reunion in revenant when the barons are all finally resurrected. And they don't say anything to us either.
My favorite part of the episode was talking to a traffic cone
The glimmer and enhancement core tonics are what the ghost mods should’ve been
Honestly, I kind of wish at this point that Bungie drastically reduced the amount of content they pumped out in a year and spent more time focusing on making that content better. The initial pitch for this season sounded pretty good, but failed pretty bad in execution for a lot of players. I think if the devs who actually care about this game had some extra time to anticipate some of the sore spots their experimentation would cause, work the bugs out, and make something genuinely interesting and fun, we might have had a better season.
As it stands though, I'm really starting to feel like Destiny is a content factory where a bunch of exhausted and overworked devs are scrambling to throw together a few hours of content from a box of scraps before its sent out the door covered in duct tape and WD-40 so that the execs can buy another car.
It's just sad.
Sadly the game is in such a poor state that if they let up on content they will lose the last remaining players still consistently playing. They’ve dug themselves quite the hole.
That's what frontiers is, scaling back to two content drops a year with two smaller focused drops to existing content in between.
If I would put this season into one word it would be "uninspired".
Vesper's Host was such a breath of fresh air. I don't know if any recent destiny content outside of the final shape has been as fun as this one dungeon.
the dungeons and raids are the only part of destiny that have upheld a good standard
I thought that WR was amazing and was worried it couldn’t be topped, with the multi floor boss and dynamic damage phases, along with such a fun theme. But VH really makes me feel like a faction guardian responding to a distress signal that starts off investigative but turns into this crazy security standoff death match with lightning strikes and a zombie of an old enemy. Also I love Variks but he kind of did next to nothing other than just being there and narrating some scenes 😭
Skolas was a titanic fumble in my opinion just being put in an alternate Tomb that’s not advertised to the player in the slightest was a bad move
Also the deus ex machina for Nezarec really upset me. I was hoping for a full on conversion or a fight or choice we had to make. Some actual stakes, you know? Instead of just.. “here’s the OP ass echo that can immediately cure this thing that’s been built up for years since plunder”
@@OriginalSystem37 I thought for sure we were going to have Mithrax quarantine himself or merely suppress the curse further, leading eventually to a Nezarec expansion or season where we face him at full power in one of his ancient tombs. I guess not, now
I miss the coil.
The coil was one of my favorite seasonal activities. I think THAT would’ve been a good style of activity to introduce rng weapons to. Everything this season just felt kinda boring cause there was no real point in grinding any of the activities and they were all pretty mid
@@roguedy Agreed. I love activities that make you think more about build-crafting to take advantage of special modifiers.
Yep!
Eramis was the first character in Destiny history I actively hated. She was a serviceable antagonist in Beyond Light, but ever since returning she has done nothing but stand in our way, and even while working with us she's disrespectful, sarcastic, and arrogant even though we've defeated her and have (in spite of all logic) offered our hand to work together since. I'm not saying she has to get all buddy buddy with us, but at least SOME level of respect would have made me like her a ton more. They have done this well with Caitl already! She was playfully antagonistic at first, but once we beat her champion in the rite of proving she immediately showed all guardians more respect, even though we were not working together yet. When Eramis left with the Echo I was happy, but only because I wouldn't have to listen to her complain 100% of the time in every single line of dialogue, and I wish I could have felt happy for what she actually achieved.
But she did say Veriks was at "the expert at being unnarmed", so she gets ONE point.
I wanted to turn her into a gun but I guess only raid bosses get that level of honor. Can we stop making friends with the enemies of humanity (and her allies) and straight up kill them?
Eramis is the best written character in all of Destiny IMO, however, as opposed to people who complain about "plot holes" that are easily disproven with a little thought, or more likely completely misunderstanding her redemption arc because they don't pay attention, finding her annoyying isn't something I can debunk, as long as you acknowledge it's subjective. She did show us an element of respect during Spire of the Watcher, more than she did in Revenant. I would argue we haven't really earned her kindness, given we murderred all of her friends, burned her house, and then acted entitled and locked her up, but it would have been nice to see more interractions with her and Variks, since they were a major focus of beyond light and never reconciled.
She literally say how she’s gonna go far away to keep her and her dudes safe from humanity when the fallen as a species jumped earth because of their own theological issues with the traveler 😂
Counter point the fallen literally pushed humanity into bordering extinction, we killed her friends because she wanted to kill us and also was following the witnesses agenda. Her redemption arc is just bad
I think they laid off the writers that were first-party to the Caital season, and these guys were trying (in vain) to replicate it.

"Explain Episode: Revenant, but be as short as you can"
This was the first d2 season where I hated everything about it
The artifact was trash. Stasis is still mid, SMGs are mid, shotguns are mid. 75% of those perks were useless to me.
Tonic system was horrible. I remember these potions wearing off in the middle of a GM boss fight and I was like, "welp, I'm not going into my menu to reapply this unless I want to wipe so I guess I'm not getting any loot"
The story was horrible. I mean it wasn't bad, but when you take something that was obviously meant to be told week-to-week and cram it into 1 massive dump with barely any changes... gj.
That's not even talking about the bugs and the mid seasonal events. This game has got to do better, or else we're gonna be talking about Bungie as a full Sony subsidiary very soon.
6:35 ghost of tsushimas free update “legends” had this exact problem. They had a 50 wave hoard mode and every 10 rounds there would be a boss wave. Ppl complained because it would legit take more than an hour sometimes even inching close to 2 hours on the hardest difficulty. So they shortened it drastically by making it 15 waves, and then there would be a boss wave every 3 rounds. Now it takes about 30 minutes. Bungie should rlly look into this and cut out those “in between” rounds where u just go to a whole different room for some other random objective. 50 waves was fun in into the light. Now it’s just rotting my brain.
There's still a bridge missing between Enhanceable and Craftable weapons. I say let craftable weapons drop with patterns and stuff, but ALSO allow craftable weapons to be enhanceable from the go. If I get a god roll of a craftable weapon by chance, I shouldn't have to throw it away and wait for the patterns to then craft it. Let me enhance the roll I got, even if I don't have the pattern! If I got the roll, I got the roll, I shouldn't have to wait for the patterns. And if I DON'T get the roll, then, the patterns come into play. Simple.
Enhancing is ok. Crafting means everyone runs the same thing... Boring.
Bait and Switch, Apex Predator meta anyone..
My take is craftable weapons should not be enhanceable since they’re a guaranteed 5/5 god roll. But on opposite end, raid and endgame weapons should not be craftable but should be enhanceable and enhancing should have a bigger impact being the meta defining part of a weapon to a degree.
My thoughts summed up about weapons:
Seasonal weapons should be craftable
Endgame weapons should be enhanceable
Ritual playlist weapons should be FUSIBLE (as in ability to fuse 2 guns together to have all their perks on 1 gun with a max of 4 guns being fused into one)
World drop weapons should be re-rollable (re-roll perks on world drop once each)
I feel like this would give each class of weapons their own identity and give them all their own place in the game
@@fissilepear7805 I just really want something to solve the problem of how getting rolls of a craftable weapon before geetting the pattern is completely useless. Like, I've already had multiple drops of a perfect 5/5 god roll for craftable weapons since the system was introduced, but it's not enhanceable so... I have to dismantle it and wait for the pattern if I want to enhance. And of course I do. It feels awkward. If I got a god roll, why do I have to throw it away, you know? I feel like the pattern should come into play as a guarantee, if I get really unlucky then I'll eventually have the pattern and the roll I want, that's fine. But if I do get lucky, which is part of the whole point of a looter, why do I still have to grind the pattern? Enhancing isn't free, I need the same resources as crafting, so... I feel like it should be allowed. Personal gripe, maybe, but to me this would solve the main problem I have with crafting.
@@JonnyAnonsince when have players not just used the same meta thing, the only real difference crafting made is that people just had to grind less.
eramis getting the echo and then LEAVING WITH IT is so mid
18:15 The problem is that “more Destiny” is not what the game has needed for years at this point and that is all Bungie seems to want to give. At this point, it’s a choice.
"Our eliksni friends Misraks, Eramis..." Did everyone, especially Bungie, forget that she's half of the reason the final shape almost happened AND is the cause of Rasputin's permanent shutdown? She's also the reason House Light took refuge in the Last City in the first place.
Ugh, artifact in loadouts would be absolutely HUGE QoL change.

'We look for Fikrul cos he's doing sussy stuff and we eventually find him and he is indeed, doing sus stuff' damn I needed this seasonal recap 😅
15:11 that "never do this again" can be applied to like 90% of this Episode
I remember before Revenant talking to one of my friends about the races in D2, and they gave me a whole plotline where Fikrul turns a planet’s core into a Dark Ether factory and the Scorn start building their own civilization since they can just sort of do their own thing and build their population with the dead Eliksni that we leave behind, and the Vanguard sends the Guardians out to go on the offensive.
I’m just saying, I would’ve rather had that plotline than the one we actually had.
I checked out of this season so hard that I forgot the fieldworks were a thing.
The design for the episode felt like someone concepted it and scripted the story and progression beats, but almost nothing was actually designed for the week_to-week experience of driving us through those ideas. Just a very JV implementation of a concept that had some legs.
I never ever want to talk to an NPC through the holoprojector WHILE THEYRE LITERALLY NEXT TO ME.
Spider was skulking around The Last City, hanging out in the back of a pub. You can go visit him! For... no reason in particular, I guess.
Major complaint from me is theme wise. The themes presented for the season were around vampires. And the best we got was some emotes and Fikrul dying to a stake through the heart.
I kinda wanted to know more about the Slayer Barons of old, legends of ancient Eliksni monster hunters, I wanted to know a little more of Riis now that characters who lived there got the spotlight. I haven't read the lore from this season so maybe we got some info there, but the season took a different path and I... was expecting something else tbh.
I'm glad they actually did have a sendoff for some plotlines. Fikrul's eternal resurrections were a longstanding plot, and obviously Eramis unthawing and becoming a more recurring character needed some resolution. I didn't like how the curse of Nezarec felt like it was really pulled out of thin air for this episode - maybe it was alluded to in earlier lore, but I don't recall it ever being something of note until this episode
For gods sake the craftable problem is such an easy fix: only allow random drops to be enhanceable. That way yes you CAN craft the ‘perfect roll’ but if you want the extra-good version then you gotta do the rng grind. Now both sides get what they want.
It always felt weird that crafting was made to *replace* the loot drop. You’re gonna get rid of rng drops in your looter shooter? And now I have the pattern, that weapon drop will never matter again? The onslaught attunements system still had the rng-perk grind, but removed the full-weapon-pool grind, and we loved it!
Absolutely, here’s what I said on another comment to give weapons an identity:
Seasonal weapons should be craftable but not enhanceable since they can have good rolls but are easily available for a limited time
Endgame weapons should be enhanceable but not craftable to incentivize endgame loot chase (additionally enhancing should have a bigger impact)
Ritual playlist weapons should be FUSIBLE but not craftsble nor enhanceable (ability to fuse multiple guns into one to add perks, add up to 4 guns together meaning 4 triple row ritual playlist weapons could theoretically get all 24 perks on that gun but require insane RNG)
World drop weapons should be re-rollable but not craftable more enhanceable (re-roll left and right column perk once each for chance at better roll)
This would make endgame weapons the clear choice and meta but give the other guns their own places in the sandbox with seasonal weapons being good for casuals, ritual playlist weapons being good for buildcrafters and world drop weapons somewhere in between all those.
"Not bugged, just stupid" I will be keeping that in my pocket for the near future.
There's a bug where the mirror doesn't open again to start another damage phase against fikrul. So now it has to be done in one phase
I don't think that there was anything especially bad about the episode besides the bugs and the reward loop. The bugs were clearly an issue with a lack of QA team. Some of the things that weren't bugs but felt bad like the number of ingredients from completing a mission would be caused by also not testing the reward systems. It's pretty clear to me that they had not done the math on the drop rates of these weapons. Even if these weapons were very good, which I can only say about the Bitter/Sweet and Liturgy, the chance of getting a 5/5 got roll was ridiculously rare due to having 7 perks in the 3rd and 4th column. There was about a 1/1715 chance to get the 5/5 Liturgy roll and a 1/2401 chance to get the 5/5 Bitter/Sweet roll. This is obviously way too low. You can argue that usually the 1st and 2nd column barrels and mags don't matter but as these were GLs they do matter and effect damage. Overall these systems felt really bad and it was clear that it wasn't tested.
There of course were more issues such as the Tonic system as a whole being a ton of Micromanaging however if you felt much stronger due to the tonics this would be less of an issue. The tonic system felt bad because it made so little difference between popping a tonic and not popping a tonic. The artifact overall was not very strong or memorable. I feel that this is partially due to stasis as a whole not being very good. We are at the point of the game where every strong build needs some sort of healing and stasis without any healing really doesn't cut it in harder activities.
they don’t matter that much. it’s only like a 2.5% damage buff for spikes and implosion rounds. it USED to matter but now i just prefer mini frags or extended drum because i get more in the mag with a backup mag on
Bittersweet was only really good for this season cause of the arc weapon damage against blind perk. After that, it’s just gonna be chill inhibitor all around. I personally didn’t like any of the weapons, even liturgy just felt like an excuse to try and like the season that just didn’t work out
@@roguedy Liturgy for now fills a role that no other weapon can do, a legendary kinetic slot envious arsenal weapon. Until we get another one, or get an option for the energy slot that isn't a fucking shotgun, it's pretty irreplaceable.
Weight gate is still going
I liked to believe that this whole episode Mithrax was just having a huge schizo moment with his random fits of unhinged rage
Still don't like how Eramis was the one who ended up getting the echo 😅
I still don’t like Eramis
Thank you for my opinion on the Episode Datto
Im just now learning that there were "shiny" weapons to be gotten from this seasons onslaught.
i learned more about the story from the open 3 minute recap than I did playing the entire season
Bungie doing the "all at once" so that they're "doing what the community wants" and then STILL designing the story as though it's week by week is NOT what the community meant lol.
They should have just said they'll design next season that way from scratch instead of intentionally making the all at once system as hilariously bad as it could possibly be to make people say they don't want it anymore.
idk about yall but im ready to play for 2-3 days, play the dungeon once or twice and peace out again
Same, plan on playing opening mission, couple nether runs, do a couple dungeon runs post contest and then dip until the last couple weeks to finish the pass and story then dip for good cause I ain’t getting frontiers
As someone who was so stoked to finally get an Eliksni themed season, I straight up didn’t play this game past act one up until last week. This was the season of “yup, that’s Destiny” and I just couldn’t bring myself to keep at the same millstone, especially since almost none of the loot even reflected the theme. It was all scorn stuff, and the only eliknsi things were the strange pirate/cowboy synthwave armor sets
It says a lot about how pointless the shiny weapons for this season were that I didn't even know there were rare variants until I watched this video.
Dont forget: Heresy has the benefit of:
1) being the lead up to Frontiers. so it WILL be better than Echoes or Revenant just to hype people up for what's next
2) being teased since Season of the Witch. Unlike Maya and Fikrul, who came out of NOWHERE with no build-up just "Oh, so YOU have an echo now, huh? Cool, I guess..."
3) being probably the last *MEANINGFUL* Hive story
4) being part of the TFS Annual Pass that people (like me) FOMO'd into
However, all of this will be gone after Heresy. I expect Frontiers wont even pull in as many people as Heresy does
Heresy is it for me with destiny 2. Been playing for almost exactly 9 years now (since February 2016) and I just can’t with the mediocre and samey content clearly designed to just keep me playing rather than actually be fun and keep me entertained.
If heresy isn’t a season of opulence level season (which it inarguably won’t be), I won’t be buying frontiers or any future release outside a D3. I may tune into frontiers and watch someone play it but this is the last Bungie gets out of me regarding money and playtime.
Which seriously sucks, I have loved destiny and don’t want to leave but it doesn’t respect my time and I feel more like a cow to be milked rather than a valued customer
@fissilepear7805 i know dude, I didnt play D2 till 2022, but I LOVED Destiny classic. I was hoping for that same magic again.... but alas
I think the episode structure releasing all the continent once exposed how little is actually released week to week. It's something a lot of people have been griping about but not a lot of people wanted to listen to and I think it really brought to light that we don't do much other than talk to a kiosk
Dato uploaded a video.
But before youw eatch it , talk to the holoprojector.
Done ?
Now talk to datto
Done ?
Now talk to the holoprohector again
Done ?
Now go and create 3 potions
Done ?
Datto has left another message at the holoprojector
Done ?
Now talk to datto again
There you go , now you can grind the same boring and uninspired gun models that dont even have anything interesting going on.
Eramis is basically the Abby from TLOU2 or Destiny. She is easily morally inferior to “our team” but the narrative treats her like she is in the right in everything and we SHOULD sympathize with her. And in the end of her story, she gets everything she wants and leaves, having no actual emotional change, while our team gains nothing but disappointment.
In a lore tab earlier, it said she left to find her family. I was completely fine with her just dipping from the story after that.
@@Ghost_Toast5000what family other than athrys? she never talks about anyone else but him
@@cwj2733 Eramis has a wife and children that she hasn't seen or heard from since the Whirlwind.
Okay no, we had her help cure mithraaks and stop fikrul we got exactly what we wanted from her and she got exactly what she wanted from us, I agree with everything else you said tho
@@eduardoortiz3909 They made the aliens gay?
"Not bugged, just stupid." Perfect.
Personally, I kinda love the fallen, I think they are super compelling as one of the most visible consequences of our journey, learning ANYTHING about the universe, having some empathy, and going on the Saint 14 journey of heartless slaughterer of their people to 'WOOPS! our bad' with them believably not at all trusting us. It was a lot of work, tensions were high, and we had to work to make up for our mistakes and understand the anger of the people we were trying to help. It was so cool not being the good guy, being wrong about something, and that being painfully for those who it hurt, and hard for us to fix. It made the world of destiny FEEL like destiny... And feel like a place we are IN and having a realistic impact on. I liked it a lot. From someone who did care about this stuff, I get not everyone had that connection, this episode actually exited me THE MOST, and I think it payed off. Also, vampire scorn is a cool and fun evolution of the enemy type from like a vibe and lore perspective, I hope that stays to me honest.
All this episode has made me want is a season where they really try to make a “drop all at once” story from the ground up to see how it feels when it’s actually made to be played that way. I also very much hope they get some more QA for the game as you mentioned as it’s very obvious that’s they’ve downgraded their QA to put it lightly.
good to know i didnt miss anything worth playing
By the time they fixed the drop number of the ingredient from the exotic mission, I was already over the mission and done with getting what I needed from the mission.
It’s a shame because the topics and theming of these seasons are really fun but they have ZERO substance, unsatisfactory conclusions, and dry characters that don’t develop meaningfully. Why is Eido acting like a toddler? She’s young, not stupid. Why are pretending like Eramis is a good guy? It’s all so jarring.
Bungie - “We heard you, you don’t like time gating. We’re going to give you everything at once.”
Players - “You’re gonna make sure the experience is designed for a continuous play through right? I mean, we KNOW you can do it. We played The Final Shape.”
Bungie - “We heard you.”
Players - “Oh sh*t.”
The tonic system did not need to be so convoluted and unintuitive when Chalice from Opulence once existed. That being said, I feel like many people forgot to use tonics because they're buried under 2-3 menu screens.
Took most of this episode off to have a break so I would not be completely burned out for the next one, and was perfectly satisfied experiencing it through your and Byf’s videos. Feel like I made the right choice, and I’m legitimately looking forward to Tuesday. We’ll see how I feel a month from now. lol
I took a break after echoes just became another season and was so bad… just came back this week, can confirm taking a nice break is really good, having fun again in DESTINY and excited for heresy
A lotta destiny players treat it too much like a job instead of actually playing when they want to
I just want to hurry up and get it over with. I'm going through the motions acting out my sunk cost.
Ahhh the episode that made me finally give up
"and Variks is there" is how I feel about the episodes so far
Not that i wanted misraks to die, rather i just wanted more plot progression lol.
God im so ready for heresy tho
I think my biggest problem with the story was that recurring trope of a side story that takes over the main story. The whole Miisraaks going nezzy mode and Eramis bitching about humanity took over what could be a cool vampire themed season hunting fikrul.
Don’t forget Shadowshot was disabled in Vespers Host for like three months
They've made that encounter such a slog now that id be fine with it being disabled permanently if it meant getting the old encounter back
@@jamalmalik3617 wtf did they do now?
I do wish that Bungie had given us the choice on weather we choose to help Eido free Eramis or refuse in which case she attempts to do it behind our backs.
i am also mind blown how the major and minor fieldwork system got put into the game, like, it is literally in the name, fieldwork, it just felt like doing boring chores for absolutely no reason
"We promise not to overdeliver" they were really factaul
With the artifact, what would be cool is if you max a season bp, you get that artifact, which you can either just equip later down the line in an atifact slot or just unlock the artifact mods. Either way, it gives more nuace to build crafting, so players who only play Stasis dont have to wait another 5 years for another "stasis" season the could just equip a past artifact that is heavily stasis focused.
In regards to the bugs, I've still been stuck on step 6 of the Vesper's Host quest since the dungeon came out, with still no updates on a seriously pressing bug in regards to the puzzles. I usually never use checkpoint bots to get gear because I like doing quests/content myself, but I ended up using one to get the Icebreaker catalyst, because I got tired of waiting for something that I have no idea when it will be fixed. The drop in quality is very apparent, and it sucks to see it from a franchise that I've been a fan of since the beta of the first game. Not even a year ago, I used to proudly talk about how Destiny was a *relatively* bug free game because of Bungie's QA, but now that those people have been let go, it really shows.
If it isn't a major expansion or playable piece of content for the game Bungie does not cook with the Eliksni. I guess atleast this time there was an actual conclusion
It’s usually the hive that get the best writing for some damn reason atleast from what I’ve seen
Not that I’m complaining it’s just hilarious to me
@thebean6496 I think the Vex are limited by the fact they can't really have a "face" to be the big bad of anything they do and also we keep getting blue balled with the idea we basically got rid of them.
The Cabal lost their flare from light fall.
The Elikinsi just get screwed by bad writing unless It's a major expansion or addition of content
The Taken are basically in the same position as the Vex now with the Witness gone
The scorn had Forsaken, being loyalists to the Witness, and then this lackluster ending.
The hive have 2 villains that probably go into most people's top 5 for the entire franchise, are the most dynamic race in how they have risen to power and combated us as guardians, and they do for some reason indeed just get better writing. Maybe it's just the cycle of when Bungie cooks 🤷♂️
"Sending you back to the old gambit map" 😂😂
I’ve heard it before, but we need some good Guardian villains, some civil war action, we’ve killed gods, we’ve killed Thanos, what if we have to kill some of our buddies? Mixing it up, I dunno
the whole part around 18:00 is how i feel towards vesper’s host. the number of weird things happening in there while trying to do the catalyst codes, i still don’t know where my characters stand or how to even check it. it’s horrible. i know i could just get someone to open the box if they have it or whatever but like, i was enjoying doing it solo and it feels stupid that the entire pursuit just bugged out across 3 characters
Overall I didnt mind the Episode really. My biggest issue was the all at once releases because of, well pretty much the same reasons he said on the issue. I eventually fell off with Tonics more because I didnt want to always run Stasis builds and didnt really care that much about the weapons esecially without the passive grind for crafting patterns, but I do like the concept and wouldnt hate seeing it return in some way just better refined.
Lets say, 6-6.5/10.
Finally, my opinion on Revenant has arrived
We’re in episode 3 well about to be and not a single teaser trailer or anything for the next expansion. I have a feeling we’ll be in ep 3 for months and months while the next expansion gets delayed.
Doubt Sony would allow that considering the state of the game and player base, likely will get rushed out the door unfinished like final shape almost was and be mediocre and just more destiny, not new destiny
@@fissilepear7805 not sony, bungie. cant always play the blame game they were on their own for years and did the same thing
Truly an episode of all time
This episode is the first time I didn't complete a season pass because the normal seasonal armor was WAY better than the ornaments. I tried playing during the final week but I got bored very quick. This season really killed the game for me story wise. I HOPE Ep 3 is so much better than the last 2
Crunching things together didn't help things, but if it'd been week to week I think it would have drug out too much. At this point it's obvious that 4 months is too long for an episode length
Only thing I wish is that we'd had a badass boss fight with the corruption of nezerak. Even just a mildly reskined version of the raid boss scaled down for a 1-3 person firefight.
The activities were fine but for me 80% of the loot wasn't worth grinding so I never got too into it. I don't care if we don't do crafted rolls, but they need to be interesting enough to chase
This was the worst exotic mission (organ was cool but couldn't carry and there wasn't enough Dracula castle) the shotgun was cool but the catalysts were a joke barely 1 option was good and craftable exotics mean nothing if you don't have actual options
My hot takes that I've had since probably before witch queen:
The artifact has overstayed its welcome and needs to be removed from the game.
Crafting should stay out of the game in most capacities.
New weapons every season for less than worth power upgrades is ruining progression and burning people out.
Bungie:Thoughts on the season?
Me: Gone Fishin
I gotta admit, as someone who's grandpa is dying of Alzheimer's Misraaks hit a bit close to home
Personally, no crafting has significantly bloated my vault.
Yeah, honestly they should just go back to static rolls at this point because there are so many horrible perks you can roll. Crafting the god roll for a weapon that should just be it's static rolls to begin with is definitely better for vault space.
@@bobross8585 Static roll is way to far, instead what I have in mind for crafting is if you want a certain perk for that weapon you need to grind for one and then extract/unlock it for crafting so it doesn't really take it away the grind aspect, when a season/episode ends you can go to gunsmith to do some bounty/buy material to unlock whatever is left to be unlock.
Yeah, it’s funny how bungie reintroduces rng but doesn’t realize how atrocious the lack of vault space is. I’ve had to start deleting things I actually kind of liked to have but never really used cause they got power crept pretty badly
@evilgrin903 meh, the grind is not fun honestly. I don't see why people want to grind their life away for a roll on a gun that is going to be useful for a little while and then get power crept out. Just make every gun a static roll with perk options like an adept, then they will all have their uses and be more unique. Rather than being "Kinetic 140 Handcannon #5" that you will just have the same perks on as every other one.
@@bobross8585 it will never not amaze me that destiny players will completely hate something then years later ask for it again. static rolls is what nearly killed the game. stop with the stupid takes.
