To answer your question, i think usually John and Jordan (the guitarist and keyboardist respectively) write the orchestral parts themselves
legend says jordan can play a whole orchestra part, but jordan doesnt greedy, then he split the composition to different part, thats the myth

The misheard lyrics at the end kill me in the translation. You'll never know that you're alive...never know...know that your aliiiiiiiiiilahveeee. Joy is never said there. I mean if you are going to to all the trouble to sub a video, could you not at least read the lyrics...lol. Aside from the orchestral bit being a bit too long (a criticism I have of some of DT's long songs - Count of Tuscany does this) this is one of my favorite songs and I swear the ending to this song is so beautiful and spiritual that it takes my breath away...when you surrender to the light, you can face the darkest days. Everyone needs to hear that, especially in the times we are living in now.
You have to check out Octivarium Its another epic piece like this one. If you want something deep, one i have yet to hear anyone react to it would be Disappear and Best of Times.

The Best of Times for the best guitar solo ever to be composed (imo). It's seriously emotional and so perfect.
