If the big three where is so focused on hoarding exclusives maybe they can focus on making their hardware better. I recently invested a killer PC build. I can get Palworld running 1080p 144+ fps. Meanwhile series x running 45ish. I had high hopes for this gen. But the overall lackluster performance and already having half my foot out the door made me jump ship.
You also have to realize that in order to keep the systems affordable, they can’t put that much into the system. The reason PC’s can achieve what they can achieve is because they cost $2k+ and the average consumer can’t afford thay

@@the_one_and_carpool last i checked xbox gamepass was around 14 or 15 a month. So if you kept that up for a year thats 180, a console gen lasts 4 to 6 years. So around $1500. With that money and maybe 300 mote you can get an rx 7900xt and 5800X3d. And a rig like that is no slouch, it will last

If you're selling your Xbox and all your games and going to buy because of an article even if it turns out to be true then you really need to go seek professional psychiatric help because you've got some real mental health problems. And lets say it turns out to be true, so what? Xbox is already cross play with everything on multi-platform games so what changes? Microsoft have still sold tens of millions of Xbox Series X. Sony have nothing out now or in the future that fills the segment that the Xbox Series S does. The console runs a stripped out version of Windows, they're still going to be releasing the games on PC so it takes little to no effort making an Xbox version. There's literally no reason for Microsoft or game developers to quit Xbox. I own both the PS5 and Xbox Series X and in pretty much all cross platform games the graphics on the Xbox are better than the PS5, things like your player character and objects in the game looking much sharper because it's rendering at a higher resolution. Put COD MW3 side by side on a 4K TV and just sat in the lobby waiting screen it's blatantly obvious, your character, the weapons, loot boxes etc look softer on the PS5 because it renders at a lower res. You'd literally be setting fire to your money for no reason whatsoever.

Xbox is pretty much just a cheap PC in the end. You could compare it to something like steam deck. If mass manufacturing xbox allows it to be cheaper than a similarly performing normal pc I think that alone would still mean that people will buy it even if it would not have exclusive games. Basically performance to price ratio is important. Like for someone who could not afford to buy expensive pc and you cant play same games on similarly priced PC that well a person would buy xbox to be able to play them.
Well the problem with that is console sales are lower than even the Xbox one at this point in its life, and Microsoft actually breaks even or loses money manufacturing the consoles….plus they’re always on sale
