- Guppies are omnivores and may occasionally nibble on small organisms, but they rarely target adult shrimp. However, they might prey on baby shrimp if there aren't enough hiding spots like plants or caves. Guppies also do a great job of eating Planaria and sometimes Hydra, which are dangerous pests that can easily kill shrimp.
Neocaridina Shrimp contribute to maintaining water quality by consuming leftover food, dead plant matter, detritus, and more. Over time, these substances can break down and pollute the water in your tank, so having shrimp can be extremely beneficial.
When it comes to food, both, Guppies and Neocaridina Shrimp can be fed flakes or pellets. If you want your shrimp to thrive, consider feeding them shrimp-specific food like Shrimp Dinner by GlasGarten.

Would ember tetras be a better fit? Or would they be just as dangerous?
I keep Ember Tetras with Neocaridina Shrimp and they all get along just fine. Similar to Guppies, they will prey on new born baby shrimp if the spot them.
Here’s a question. Can shrimp live in a one gallon tank?
yes with a heater
Sweet I’m getting a tank set up
@@Joesguppies I feel like its better if you have a 5 gallon
Yes but I don’t think I have room
@@Joesguppies I'm thinking of setting up a 15 gallon cube I saw at shrimpfever but its too expensive its 132 dollars I'm pretty sure. but it dosen't take up much room.
If ur wondering I want to save a betta from petsmart to put in the 15 gal
Do you stick ur phone into the water like lukes goldies to take videos or do you take em' outside the tank through the glass
Always from the outside. I have a macro lens attachment for my phone camera, I also use a tripod and blackout sheets to remove reflections.
Will hydra harm adult shrimp? I have a green hydra breakout in my tank
Adult shrimp may get the occasional sting and dart away. It's the baby shrimp you have to worry about. Baby shrimp are small enough to get really hurt by the hydra’s stringers. Their shells aren’t hard enough yet to fully protect them. Combined with the fact they can fit in a hydra’s mouth. When removing Hydra, be careful not to cut them as they will just multiply. Siphon them out or use NO PLANARIA to kill them. Remember to remove any snails you wish to keep as this product will kill them. After a few water changes, you can put your snails back into your tank. It's also shrimp safe. amzn.to/3O2PsiF
@@shrimplycanadian I tried siphoning them all out yesterday and they just multiplied like crazy overnight so I bought some no planaria
Buy shrimp food if your rich or lazy
Or.... if you want to provide them with a nutrient rich diet where they will thrive and not have issues molting.
@@shrimplycanadian so a couple of see shells in the tank work for that or some sand and a few rotting leaves with the odd piece of cucumber, maybe carrot sometimes
Yes those can work as well but I wouldn't consider buying shrimp food rich or lazy. It's just an additional / alternative method to what you mentioned. At the end of the day, the decision is up to each and every one of us of how we wish to manage our pets.
