    Those breathing patterns are really interesting. I recognise that chuffing like a train sound from my own efforts. Your commentary is excellent. I sometimes find longer pov videos a bit tedious but you've got the knack for keeping the interest up. You'll get that sub 20 soon mate. 💪💪👍🏻

    I absolutely get where you're coming from. I'm also chasing a sub 20 5k, getting an average of 20:10. There's been days I've felt confident didn't get it, then also got a pretty decent time not long after a race. Or some days the training goes well but on the morning of parkrun the weather is rubbish. I'm confident we'll get there. Subscribed 👍

      Welcome to the channel mate 👊you’re exactly right in what you’re saying, at the moment I still feel I can do it right now but everything would have to be perfect but with more training I will be be able to do it everytime and so will you mate 👍🏻 nothing good is easy and the sub20 certainly isn’t. I’ve heard it’s about only 2-3% of actual runners have achieved this so when you get there take time to appreciate what you’ve done - lace up and empty the tank 👊💪🏃‍♂️💨

      Cheers mate 👍🏻, I was mega disappointed, I no what needs to be done now, some adjustments to make in training 💪 - congrats again on your new 5k PB 22mins and some change , it’s truely brilliant, I think the marathon helped you out massively. You’ve extended your endurance, endurance ultimately helps with speed as well- top effort mate 👊👊

      Cheers Oscar 👍🏻glad you liked it. Yeh I always use other people as pacers when I’m going for a time . It’s one of the reasons I love parkrun there is always somebody to hang with 💪👊👊👊 I can smell the sub20 🤣🤣

    You can sprint the first 200 metres of a 5k without building any lactate. It's a good tactic.

    Nice work bud. My first 5k was less than three years ago. 29:03 at Penistone Parkrun
    My quickest now is 22:03 at Rother Valley. Id like to get a sub 20 one day. Im a way off it at the moment. But im moving in the right direction 😊

    Well done, amazing time - I can only dream of getting close to 20. My parkruns lately are all 23.41, 23.38, 23.39, 23.33, 23.43 etc and I used to be able to do sub 23 mins often. Cant seem to figure out a good training scheme to get me back on form. :(

      Thanks mate 👊 There still really good times . But I got mine down my doing longer runs and also doing fartlek runs - so like 1k easy effort then 1k at like sub20 minute pace then 1k easy then again 1k at sub20 mate pace then just repeat . There’s loads you can do - add me on Strava and have a look at some of my workouts 💪👊👊👊

      My 5k PB is 22:01 I got it in my first ever 5k race last July,after doing a couple of park runs & few 10k races, so I thought id get a sub 22 easy enough but I've ran 4 5k race's since & my closet has been 22:10 , it's melting my head 🥴 my last 1 being 2 weeks ago 22:33 🙄 wish I'd never been as close to 22 now & it wouldn't have bothered me 😂 , sub 20 is a massive achievement 😉🏃 don't be so hard on yourself & it's a great goal to be chasing

      @@davidthompson8953​​⁠thank you mate 👊👊 I will get it , I’ve started training really hard specifically for the sub20 5k now all my energy is going into it as I just need to get it done. Also don’t worry your times will come , what you have to remember is most people can’t even do a sub30 , only 6% of all people run , only 0.01% of people can do a marathon 😮so let it be no surprise that it’s very difficult to do a sub 22 , if it was easy then everybody could do it. The fact you are sub 23 is great and I’d bet only 1 or 2% of people can do that - keep at it mate - lace up and empty the tank 👊👊👊

      To be honest I've only really started taking running seriously in the last 6 months,well what I mean by that is doing different sessions like speed work 1k repeats & 400's repeats & long runs( 8 miles) & tempo runs , I've been running for 3 years but the first 2&1/2 I just went out & ran 3 , 4 or 5 miles as hard as I could with no structure or pace in mind but weirdly enough that's what seem to get me my 5k PB & with my new training I don't think I've improved over that distance 🥴🏃 tho hopefully time will tell, ive signed up for my first half marathon in September so hopefully the longer miles help me out in the 5ks 😉🫡 all the best with your running & ill look forward to seeing your sub 20 video soon 😉🏃

      @@davidthompson8953Hi mate 👊 I can’t totally relate to this , I’ve been running 7 years but spent years on the treadmill, I only started running outside the start on 2021 and taking it seriously around the back end of 2022 and didn’t do my first race til 2023💪We all learn differently it sounds to me like you’ve gone the hard way like me but you will learn so much mate . Keep at it , all the different work outs will help you loads . Best of luck with your race 💪💪💪💪

    That back straight is a long ass slog tbh. I've never been a fan of Rother Valley but went week before and ran 19:38 without the intention of doing so, no pressure may be the key ? Also the terrain is not ideal for Vaporfly. I ran much better in Saucony Speed 2s. Felt like Bambi when I ran in Vaporfly at Rother Valley Relays 3 days later lol. I would suggest not doing full on Kms the day before your next attempt. Well done though, just need a few more interval sessions to get that speed up. I spent ages in the 20:30 range then did 2 sub 20s in 2 weeks at 2 different Parkruns (Concord and Hillsborough). It's definitely coming for you 🙂

      Hi Vicky, yeh it’s mega long , I liked the park run , if I was going for a steady one would have been a nice 5k. The Vapors weren’t to bad but not ideal to get the most out of them your right. I did see you smash it on Strava other week mega impressive . Also totally agree smashing the full km’s out the day but before backfired , a few others have said the same 🤣🤦 I was trying to be a hero 🤣🤣. I’ll get it very soon , changing a few things in training and I’ll be back at the sub20 soon . Got a Marathon this weekend then back at it . Hillsborough is on the cards as well, heard good stuff about it . I think you mentioned it to me at Selby 🤔 Cheers for watching 👀 appreciate it 👊👊

    Gutted for you Lee , still rapid and I hope you’re not too disheartened. Looked as though a few potholes and slightly uphill from the video . Have you tried Hartlepool parkrun for a PB ? It’s totally flat , smooth and plenty of space .
    Loved the video annd especially the commentary .

This is about as flat as your guna get in Yorkshire 🤣🤣🤣 I was mega gutted at the end as you could probably tell but that’s running and we go again , I’ve already adjusted my training to put in some speed endurance and I’ll get it soon 👊 thanks for watching mate 👊👊👊

    The guy in the orange wearing Altra Vanish Carbons....clearly not a fast a shoe as the vaporflys lol as it's all about the shoes, the number 1 thing that will make you go faster :P haha until the wheels fell off.....good effort though, not everyday can be a PB day.

    Too quick at the start, running the first 100m at a 3:40 pace for the first 200/300m will hurt in the 3/4k mark. Just need to relax a bit at the start and you'll get sub 20! :)

      Cheers mate 💪👊👍🏻 really appreciate it , I always try to do even spilts , all my PB’s are like that as well, apart from the last KM that’s when we empty the tank 🤣👊 it’s just this sub20 it’s haunting me , I will get it , I won’t stop. I’ve got a 10k race this weekend then after that I’m going to get some serious speed endurance work in .
