Yes, after i heard the Electric truck nonsense comments i was ready to get off. They make me LAUGH, that 5.6 will be running like new when the eco-boost needs a complete overhaul for 10 grand!! They need to review the Ford electric truck FLOP!!!! The good Ford mechanic on YT has a 70K 6 grand tune up for the eco-boost, LOL I just gave them a thumbs DOWN!!!
I got my Titan SL for $43,000 which is far better pricing than Ford, Ram and GM could dream of offering. I have lower back issues and the zero gravity seats are the most comfortable of the other 3 brands I test drove before buying. I'm really surprised these guys pooped on the seats and then praised the Ram interior bc the Ram seats are just not good and haven't been for about 10+ years now. To your credit, yes it's all about a battle of inches for any PU and that's where the 5 yr 100,000 mi Nissan warranty comes in (That is bumper to bumper btw). Also, unless you're buying the biggest engine in the other brands, you simply will not get the same power (and you pay a hell of a lot more for those but they are NOT as reliable). As for towing, yes a Ford can technically tow more than the 9,000lbs but every review I've seen says the truck just does not like it and it "feels" really sketchy while towing max weight. Titan is the only full sized PU to offer rack & pinion steering (not computer) which was huge in my book. Last but not least is the interiors on my last 3 Nissan cars & trucks stayed intact up to 140,000 - 300,000 miles. Can't say that about my Chevy nor my friends Fords and especially the Ram, those things just fall apart around you. P.S. I really like the shifter especially w/ the available manual shifter option. You can keep your bougie man bun dial knob.
This has to be one of the most annoying car/truck reviews I've watched...ever! And I am a review junkie. Only 2 car snobs can take a genuinely great truck and call it names, tear it down tell it it's nothing great for 20 minutes, and then come back at the end and say "this is a good truck", ha. I literally kept cringing the longer I listened. Any other reviewer of this truck specifically calls out the value this truck delivers at the price. Not to mention you can get these 10-15k off sticker which makes them a no-brainer! The beauty of the Titan is that it's not an F150, Ram, or Chevy. It's something different. I've never heard someone say that driving a Titan is boring. In fact, it's always the opposite. The Titan is a great, reliable truck that does just about anything you ask it to. Including going off-road. It has a better interior than the Tundra, hands down, better looking, and better performance all-around. Out of the Japanese brands, I'd take the Titan.
Haha. These guys talk over each other and blab like a bunch of middle school girls! They never actually said if they liked how it drove over all, they were too busy knit picking crap, that could easily be picked about the other brands as well. Stupid video, not even a review.
These guys DON’T know trucks. 400 HP / 413 ft lbs on premium. 390 HP/ 394 ft lbs on regular. NOT a huge difference. It has a modern engine and trans. Modern tech. It’s not from 10 years ago. You ask why buy the Titan? If you want a gas 1/2 ton V8 it’s has a far superior engine to the RAM 5.7, and GM 5.3. Not because of power but because of long term reliability. GM, and RAM still haven’t perfected their active fuel management. Lifters seizing and wiping out cam lobes isn’t good and they have both had that problem. The Ford Coyote V8 is a good contender for the Nissan V8. The Titan interior is every bit as nice as the current fords. Yes Ford has a bigger screen coming but it’s not here yet. Again excellent truck if you are shopping for a gas V8 1/2 ton. It’s definitely worth a look.
You forgot longer warranty and killer discount! FYI. I'm taking my 2018 F150 lariat with almost 19k miles to dealer for recall and warrenty service today. The list of recall and TSB is long. From seat belt that can catch fire after collision to door latch can't open in freezing weather and transmission that shift funky @3-4 gear and loose nut or bolt that roll back and forth under instrument cluster when making turn. I also have a leaky drive shaft @ front passenger side that leak grease from the transfer case side. ( both CV boots are not torn) I'm not a brand loyal person. I got my f150 at a good deal and when my ESP is done... this F150 will also be done. I will look at the Titian next....
If you read the fine print from the other manufacturer, the titan isn't any worse when you compare them apple to apples. For example, a ram rebel or silverado trail boss isn't going tow or haul any less or more than the Pro4x, about the same. To get the advertised towing or payload for most of the other manufacturers, you need to get some rediculous trim that nobody (your typical family haulin truck owner) wants. Nissan is taking a different approach, Instead of offering a gazillion confusing configurations, they narrowed it down to a few trim levels and standardized payload and towing across all levels. Hopefully it works for them because the biggest obstacle for nissan and toyota in this segment isnt really capabilities or technology - because they have that pretty much dialed in, it's brand loyalty.
It's guys like these that don't help the brand, the Titan didn't have a chance in this review from the beginning and yup I bought the 2020 P4X being a Ram fan 👍
I agree with you! These guys were bashing from the get go. Couldn’t really tell what they were even saying toward the end as they were squawking like a flock of birds. Everything they were knocking, were things based off of personal opinion. Actual “door sticker” payload and towing, is still more than a great majority of the other trucks. My 2022 Titan xd P4x has a payload of 2,200 lbs. show me a half time of any other brand that can say that. Titan is a towing beast!!
I have no brand loyalty and I’m leaning toward Titan. Toyota and Nissan do the same thing, they’ve streamlined the truck building process. BUT you NEVER hear anyone complain that Toyota Tundras are ALL the same. It’s a matter of taste. Nissan offers EVERYTHING the other trucks offer, but at a better price, value and warranty.
I've seen some bad reviews, but this... What the actual fuck? Have you ever been in a truck from 10 years ago? You know that people are getting 15k+ of discounts on this truck and nobody is paying 60k for a pro4x right? You know it has major advantages to the american brands in reliability and build quality, no rust issues, and I could go on and on but it wouldnt be worthwhile if you dont know shit about trucks, I understand brand loyalty and people not buying the titan but you get alot of bang for your buck with the nissan and what matters is what you pay not MSRP.
I bought a 2019 Titan Pro4x last year, and got $14k off of sticker. They offer major incentives due to the fact that it doesn’t sell well at all. Nissan dealers will do anything to get you in one of these trucks. As for the suspension, I swapped mine out for better Bilstein shocks. The factory suspension is under damped, and results in too much bouncing. I have a video on my channel showing the difference between stock and my new shocks. It makes a world of difference.
Love the reviews but for the money and what you get Nissan Titan is hard to beat. Test drove one yesterday and looked at other options. Nissan imo has done a great offering for the people.
Just tested all the brands. Bought the pro 4x. Great truck. Ram acts as if it has all the tech but to get the tech that matters i.e. adaptive cruise bsm surround view cam. Etc ur up to the high 60s in price in all the brands except Nissan and toyota. I like that toyota offers the safety package standard as does Nissan but the rest do not. I was down to the Nissan and tundra bought the Nissan because slightly smoother ride surround view cam and much better incentives and better warranty. The ford is nice but tons of wind noise in the lariat trim I drove. The ram doesn't have the reliability reputation to warrant the price. The chevy just feels awful to me and visibility is bad. I suggest drive them all weigh the pros and cons and pick what comes on top for you.
The used value proposition on these is pretty attractive for a used car buyer like myself. They depreciate pretty hard which is good in a used buy situation. Even new ones are heavily discounted.
The best in class arguments are useless. I see people saying ford can tow 13k so why buy a nissan. Well 1 out of every 1,000 f150s can tow 13,000. Every titan can tow between 8-10k pounds. The same with tundra, almost the same across the board . The average f150 can probably tow about 8500. My buddy has a 16 XLT sport with the 5.0 and its 8500. Now its 9k in 2020. IF PROPERLY EQUIPPED with the american brands. Equipped with the Japanese brands
Titan (made in Mississippi) is probably more American made content then Ford F150. People are fools if they think because "It's an American company" it actually has American content in it.
Well said! 13,000lbs advertised towing of f150 is very misleading. My Titan xd has 2,200 lbs payload (says the door sticker) and 11,000lbd towing capacity.
My advice to anyone in the market is to test drive all brands of PU. Don't get stuck in brand loyalty! Quality is luck of the draw with anything you buy. I got my current PU at a great deal and i will defiantly look at the refresh Titan next time.... Disclosure my current PU is 2018 F150 Lariat crew cab 4x4.
They discontinued the titan, and i think that truck was the las solid full size offering, analog and with v8power, but they would just need to digitilize the instrument panel and maybe use a rotary dial for the transmission like the ram and it would be up there,
The fact that you said that the Ram shift knob is what you are looking for negates your entire review for me. Why dont you talk about reliability which is why people buy the nissan over the ford. Sorry guys but you are mainstream hacks
I don’t necessarily agree with their review but they aren’t exactly wrong in their assessment. The Titan is a great truck at being a truck but they are correct and that it doesn’t really do anything better than another. That’s what annoys me about the truck segment. It has become a constant attempt to one-up each other and with all the other brands, it leaves the consumer having to do a lot more research to try to determine what combination of engines, rear ends, etc...get you that “best in class towing” and such. At least with the Titan, it’s more upfront. Yes, Ford claims 13,000 lbs or something. If I’m buying a half ton, I’m not towing 13,000 lbs. I would be getting a 3/4 ton.
The trucks that directly compete with the oro4x are 15 to 20k more expensive. I just bought a pro4x for 45k. I looked at ford's and chevys with a similar trim and I was gonna have to pay at least 10k more but with a whole lot of more miles on them.
TestDrive is usually the best at reviewing automobiles out there, until I saw this video. Lots of complaints. This video should have come with some tissues. ;) What do people want? They don't care about horsepower, some people don't even know horsepower is. They just want a giant tablet stuck in the center console, so they can drive their trucks/cars to show it off. Yes, it's a truck, bounces like a truck, drives like a truck, behaves like a truck because the keyword is it's a truck. If you can't handle a truck, you don't really need one. Just go with a SUV, car or minivan. Stop watering down all the trucks for city boys who just wants that status symbol. It will just jack up the sales price for everyone else. Bad, Bad Testdrive. :)
Todd in the car: There's got to be a way to shut Paul up... Todd in the edit room: Aaaaannnddd INTRO!! But the rant is 100% valid - I think truck buyers are weirdly stat-driven, like little boys that play top trumps with their favourite muscle cars... Even though there's always an asterisk.
As someone who just dropped their 2019 RAM for this exact truck I have a list that will explain easily why your money is better off here. I'll never buy another RAM, my experience has been disgusting with it. I'm glad you guys stated you aren't truck people- that was obvious when you actually praised the RAM hockey puck shift knob hahaha.
Yeah, that was sad. I still don't know why you or anyone else bought a RAM in the first place. I have seen more dead Rams on the highway overpass than any other brand of trucks, including Chevy.
The Titan is a good truck, but the problem is other trucks exist. The Tundra is probably more reliable, the Ram nicer inside, Ford has more variants with tons of different configurations and GM has the 6.2 V8 which is an excellent engine. We really enjoyed testing this same Titan off-road. The rear locker makes it pretty capable and the ABLS system also works pretty well. I'd say buy the truck that fits your needs and that you can get the best deal on. For the most part any of these trucks will last at least a couple hundred thousand miles if maintained.
one of the reasons why people would get this over the ram that you mentioned or the tundra is because the new pro4x has an electric locker. If you care about offroading and performance the better bang for your buck is the titan. If you use your truck to pick up starbucks in the city, you'd probably want the ram.I dont see how you guys reviewed this and missed the BIG change off the rear locker that makes this truck stand out from others.
@@prsguitar6910 - They discontinued that offering on their Titan XD for a variety of reasons. Given on who you talk to, they'll save the 5.0 V8 Cummins previously offered was a problematic choice.
Ram’s rotary knob is dumb - it’s one thing I can’t stand. Looks like a hockey puck. Everything else Ram does well with the interior. I like this truck but like you said it doesn’t stand out in the pack
And the ford has looked the same to me for the past 20 years. So why even mention the design lol. Obviously people don't care. The f150 still leading the sales list
How much will it cost to replace a broken windshield and to re-installed the safety-camera? More technology more items to failed and more expenses👎🏻 besides that I love the truck❤️
I don’t know any grown men who get “excited” over a shift lever in a truck. These hatchback driving, socks with open sandals wearing tools need to quit reviewing pickups. Plus, these numb nuts don’t know what a real 1% is by it’s original definition. Smh...
Paul always speaks about design features because his background is car and product design. But we understand that not everyone thinks of design like he does. The 1% reference is used as a pun - and a term we would have never even come to without the common usage as an income reference. Beyond that, we review all cars and trucks the same - as daily devices. We know not everyone will like what we do, but we do not understand what is gained by responding with anonymous insults. Either way, thanks for watching.
Are they just bitching about trucks! Similar to the Frontier video. These guys make great car videos, they don’t understand the truck or adventure segment buyer!
We wish that truck buyers were about the adventure first and using trucks as intended. However, a huge amount of owners use them as daily commute appliances in cities, and rarely tow or haul anything. So we discuss them with that in mind. We applaud all those who use the capability of their trucks and so the on road / empty bed sacrifices don’t matter.
Talk about a couple of talking heads! These guys and their "1 %'s" nonsense. Boo hoo, nothing here wow's me. These two guys sound like spoiled kids. They need something bright and flashy, "loud noises!" The fact is, the Titan is a solid truck, offers a ton of options and it's reliable with a great warranty. I've had three Nissan's and have not had one issue in all that time. How many people can say that about GM, Ford or Dodge?
We think you missed the way 1% was being used here. We’re glad you’ve had good experience with your Nissan trucks. We’ve driven all the full size options, and this is definitely the alt choice - but our goal is always for people to find vehicles they love. Glad you have.
Starts out with a really odd and pointless argument. Lost me pretty quickly. Best warranty. Yep. By a mile. Why do people still then buy other trucks? Personal preference and brand loyalty! Come on. Feels like you’re trying too hard to be controversial. A really odd way to lead into a review.
Titan doesn’t have different engines for different price entries or jobs, F150 has lower trim and cost engines NA V6 and 2.7 turbo. NA V8 for V8 lovers. Powerful turbo V6. And then Diesel. GM and RAM have also similarly variety of engines. Then domestics have long bed and short bed, and small and medium and big cabs. It’s customization of trims. And domestics have Raptors for real outdoors stuff. Titan or Toyota are left to hang on to quality as the only thing they can brag on. And new Nissan is not even quality which is why they offer longer warranty.
It’s nothing at all like the Ridgeline. And low sales are due to bias and loyalty. I test drove every full size truck not even considering the Titan until a TH-cam video, and I decided to test drive it. I ended up buying it over all of them. You can’t beat the value. I paid 50k, anything close was well over 60k. And it’s much nicer than Ford or Chevy. And who cares it only has one engine if it’s a god engine? Why do you need so many options? Also, it’s not “middle of the pack” with the lesser fuel, it’s like 5hp less.
Eric Richards what point was that? You said it’s like a ridgeline and it’s nothing like it. A ridgeline is a midsize SUV with a bed, and couldn’t do anything off road. The Titan Pro4x is far from that.
@@gobucs3146 I said it was a low volume vehicle with one engine and transmission package. You agreed with me, therfore proving my point. In those regards, they are the same.
It shows that you guys are completely truck disconnected. Stick to cars. The XD is one of the most underrated trucks out there. Value is far beyond all the other crap. Especially the XD variant.
I could see people buying this Nissan truck instead of the competitors if they like the less aggressive styling of the Nissan. The Nissan doesn't look angry like some other trucks look. Maybe Nissan should put in the comfy Volvo seats in the Titan?
i found the niche for Nissan now- ONLY rental cars. They can start their own to compete with hertz, enterprise, etc. going forward, instead of the world referring to them as rental cars, we'll just call them Nissans! They could build huge desire and exclusivity because NO ONE could own one going forward- only rent :) lol.
We’re guessing this is the first time you’ve come across our work. And we suspect you own or like this truck, which we welcome. Our guys (Todd and Paul) have been reviewing cars and trucks of all kinds and budgets for nearly 20 years. This is our second and smaller channel of stand alone reviews . Our other channel and TV show are focused on comparisons. They also host one of the longest running and successful automotive podcasts: “The Everyday Driver Car Debate”. They discuss pros and cons of everything they drive. Glad you found us and thanks for watching!
@@TestDriveVideos You guys are likeable, but just not truck guys. To answer your question, why do some of us buy the Titan? Because it the last of the old school truck.
Nissan should be sued for false advertising. "Innovation that excites". Nissans are not innovative anymore, and certainly not exciting. I'm not even sure they're 'that' anymore. Every word in their 3 word slogan is a lie.
These guys should be reviewing a Prius.

This video should have come with some tissues. ;)
What do people want?
This review gives me a headache.
I liked the first Titan better, the approach angle was better and the truck was smaller.
This truck is being discontinued in Canada next year.
one of the reasons why people would get this over the ram that you mentioned or the tundra is because the new pro4x has an electric locker. If you care about offroading and performance the better bang for your buck is the titan. If you use your truck to pick up starbucks in the city, you'd probably want the ram.I dont see how you guys reviewed this and missed the BIG change off the rear locker that makes this truck stand out from others.
what if nissan offered different engines? Did you know they offered a 5.0 Cummins?
@@prsguitar6910 - They discontinued that offering on their Titan XD for a variety of reasons. Given on who you talk to, they'll save the 5.0 V8 Cummins previously offered was a problematic choice.
Nissan having great deals right now. Pro 4x at 44k
Ford pumps out complete garbage. They seem to have a recall every other day.
7:53 Paul tryin to do some figgerin'..... Damn math!
How much will it cost to replace a broken windshield and to re-installed the safety-camera? More technology more items to failed and more expenses👎🏻 besides that I love the truck❤️
I took a huge rock to the windshield of my 2020 Pro-4x and the out-the-door cost to replace the windshield was $450 with labor.
These 2 gals are having a heavy flow day
"Origami tailgate" - "shelter tailgate" in the other trucks. LOL
Titan can tow 10k lbs too.. don't believe the numbers
0:14 that pro4x sticker looks like its from 1997
Starts out with a really odd and pointless argument. Lost me pretty quickly. Best warranty. Yep. By a mile. Why do people still then buy other trucks? Personal preference and brand loyalty! Come on. Feels like you’re trying too hard to be controversial. A really odd way to lead into a review.
These two are fools and the Titan Pro 4X rules!
Hey look, you rhymed!
The Titan is very similar to the Honda Ridgeline. One engine, one trans and low sales volume
@@gobucs3146 LOL Thanks for proving my point
Eric Richards what point was that? You said it’s like a ridgeline and it’s nothing like it. A ridgeline is a midsize SUV with a bed, and couldn’t do anything off road. The Titan Pro4x is far from that.
@@gobucs3146 I said it was a low volume vehicle with one engine and transmission package. You agreed with me, therfore proving my point. In those regards, they are the same.
It shows that you guys are completely truck disconnected. Stick to cars. The XD is one of the most underrated trucks out there. Value is far beyond all the other crap. Especially the XD variant.
Theese guys are lost in space!
No, just a dirt road... we did not achieve orbit.
What are you talking about? Rambling on and on, get to the review!!!!!
I could see people buying this Nissan truck instead of the competitors if they like the less aggressive styling of the Nissan. The Nissan doesn't look angry like some other trucks look. Maybe Nissan should put in the comfy Volvo seats in the Titan?
What buyer likes bouncing all over the road when going off road???
i found the niche for Nissan now- ONLY rental cars. They can start their own to compete with hertz, enterprise, etc. going forward, instead of the world referring to them as rental cars, we'll just call them Nissans! They could build huge desire and exclusivity because NO ONE could own one going forward- only rent :) lol.
Two gay guys!
I'm a first-generation truck owner, I have no brand loyalty, so you are wrong there---or I am a nobody lol.
Mine doesn’t bounce. At all.
Amen! These dudes wanna talk over each other and complain constantly. Hard pass!
I can’t stop listening, it’s so bad
Lol these guys are absolute pansies. They don't know anything about trucks
We’ve driven every truck in this segment in the last 18 months. We hope you have as well. Thanks for watching.
@@TestDriveVideos You are still a pansy. LMAO!
Jesus Christ these dudes are annoying
Who are these guys? They kinda suck at reviews.
