Hi Luke, I just wanted to say a huge thank you for all your hard work. Listening to your podcasts is such a delight - your English is beautiful, and your shows are brimming with charm, intelligence, wit, and a genuine love for both the language and your listeners.
In my long history of learning English, I have had quite a number of non-native and native-speaking teachers. Most of my time has been spent in classroom settings, in both larger and smaller groups. Recently, I have been enjoying online learning. Luke's English Podcast and the Master Luke Thompson himself have been my discovery - if I may say, a revelation of spring 2023. Since then, I have been tapping into the wealth of this podcast. The human element and the beauty of its imperfections, along with the absence of rigid structure and automation, are strong points of a LIVE TEACHER. I CHOOSE LUKE!🎉 Unquestionably! As you yourself admit, Luke, you make use of AI, but of those two letters, you prefer I. As you said to Paul in episode 900: "I'm sticking with I at the moment, which means I do everything."😂 Luke, you are a wonderful teacher!🤩
Nothing can replace human warmth and human nice touch in everything. It's the human smart brain which creates AI so it will never overcome us. I really enjoy this session of yours❤ Much love and respect.
From today onwards, I am shifting myself to the other side and snatching your job. Now you are free from me. (It's a joke 🤣🤣. I love your podcast. It really helps me exacerbate my bucket of vocabulary.)
Why did I find out this podcast so late? It is a big loss. This is the exactly what I am looking for in ages. Thank you Luke for your great effort and approach to the matter we have.
Like, thanks a lot for your podcasts!!! They are always informative, inspiring , with loads of useful linguistic commentaries. If there were a choice between AI and you, I would definitely choose you. No AI can replace your talent and your charms! Best wishes! Helen
It's a miracle. Any topic that the BBC takes magically becomes a political bullshit, doesn't it? Any topic that our wise Luke takes magically becomes brilliant. Thank you.
I frequently use AI, and it’s really helpful, but I would never trade the communication I have with a real person for any artificial intelligence. You're very good at what you do, Luke, and please continue your podcasts. You express your emotions so beautifully; health to your labour and heart. I enjoy listening to all of them.❤
This theme is of paramount importance and we are not yet aware of what it will culminate in. Your analysis is brilliant and it fully satisfies me. I also remember some of the many science fiction films I've watched/seen and stories about the future I've read. In one of the Mission Impossible films, there was a laboratory that created a virus so that they would become rich and powerful by selling the antidote or medicine to cure the disease. It struck me as something terrible and then, I realized why cancer can't always be cured, for instance. I also remember Covid-19 and the "vaccines". I'd rather not say what I really think about it. Thank you very much for sharing your wisdom for free.❤ I would choose you as my teacher, dear Luke.
As a teacher of English in Russia (Moscow) I would choose you and teachers like you! I chose foreign languages as my future profession when I was 10 years old...it was in 1963..I fell in love with Britain..and understood that languages would become my love and speciality! I worked as an interpreter, guide-interpreter and taught English in universities. I also lived in the UK for 5 years/ in Ireland for 1 month and in New Zealand for 7 months/ I adore western culture. literature. music. etc. Most of all I want peace and friendship among various countries! I consider Britain as my second motherland and will never forget it! All my best wishes to you and everybody who stands for peace!
I work as a software engineer, and AI will quite likely replace me soon. For the first time, I don’t regret that my degree is actually in civil engineering-HVAC in particular (which, by the way, is basically plumbing). 😀 I even worked as a foreman for quite a few years. So, it seems I’m safe here! :)
Excelente contenido, adoro tu dixion es muy fácil entender.... Casi todo😮 y lo que no siempre aprendo nuevas palabras, fraces y sobre todo la manera correcta de decirlo y pronunciación. Excelente muchas gracias!
Hello Luke. As a person who is trying to understand and work with AI, my main concern is the military aspects of the AI. We, humans are more creative than AI, and the thing is we can learn from mishaps or something completely unrelated to our job in hand. Like the invention of penicillin. Also our senses are the ones that have more value for learning thing better, like a mechanic who found a car's problem just by sensing the minor engine movement. But in the military, the unwritten rules that a nation just think of it's own security, and military general behavior is something completely different that makes me afraid of AI. THANKS FOR THIS EPISODE. VERY INFORMATIVE AND INTERESTING. MUCH LOVE FROM IRAN ❤❤
Luke! I've been listening to your podcast for about three years now. And I have known from the very first time that this is good - your work I mean. I became even a declared LEPster. I don't think that the LEP could hold my interest for so long if it wouldn't have the human touch. You are a real person basically, which is why I'm still here. But, maybe I shouldn't be so sure... We will see what the future brings.
❤ Thanks a lot for introducing such an important topic into your podcast. I cannot foresee the future but I agree with the expert: intellectual jobs will easily be substituted by A. I. Manual activities and overall caregiving jobs will still be needed expecially in western countries where the number of bedridden population is increasing day by day .😢 thanks a lot for giving us food for mind, teacher Luke. Take care and carry on ❤
Thanks Luke for your efforts..this lesson is not for language teaching only but also for general knowledge , for my self I learned from you using AI for learning English and try to use it for architecture as it's my profession..but I see till now we are better than AI because the human is having a sense that AI will never will have it..
Thank you for this wonderful and very witty podcast, Luke. Your remarks, explanations and examples are so understandable and useful. The subject of the podcast itself is undeniably important and I'd like to hear more about it in the future.
Hi Luke, thank you so much for your awsome work. Through your Podcast I could improve my listening skills a lot. Moreover, enjoying your creativity and interesting topics that you always bring to us. God bless you Teacher.
Luke, your job is excellent, and I wouldn't choose a robot but stay with your human, great podcast. I also take these technological threats seriously. It's scary that the entire world is in the hands of a few people who might take crazy decisions at any time affecting us all, with or without AI. Congratulations on this episode, and many thanks!
Inventions themselves are not a source of evil. It is bad individuals who may exploit humanity's achievements for their own benefit, against others, in order to dominate and manipulate. Wicked people derive pleasure and twisted satisfaction from witnessing the suffering and fear of others. Unfortunately, there is no shortage of such individuals, which frightens me more than the presence and development of artificial intelligence. A terrifying topic for a podcast, but very interesting and thought-provoking, as always, Luke. Thank you.
I really like the number of thoughts shared in this episode. Thank you! -- In fact, artificial intelligence is my area of interest, and I enjoy reading a lot about it.
Dear Luke! PDF list of your lesson is a great idea! Thanks a lot. I need it for my studying and I use it for my writing part of training my language skills.
It seems to be an interesting topic🌟. I can't wait to listen to it. You always come up with interesting topics😀. You're very creative Luke. I've listened to your episode where you talk about "Madness" with your brother. And, honestly I've never heard about this band in my life and also I don't really like listening to music but I said to give it a try because I like listening to you Luke and because I want to listen the English language being spoken in different contexts as well. And I can say that, I enjoyed listening to that episode more than I expected. It was so fun and interesting that episode. I don't know but any topic that you talk about becomes wonderful. Thank you! I really appreciate your work. I'm ever so grateful! God bless you Luke! When are you going to upload a new Walk and Talk lesson? And pleaseee make a new Short Story episode which contains colloquial vocabulary if you want 😁. Thank you from Romania 🇷🇴!
This episode is one of my favourites though I love all Luke's episodes. Could we possibly have more BBC/Ted talk interviews explained like this, please? 😊
Interesting and the episode stunning. In my opinion, like many other sources of knowledge its development depend on us, and the result will mixed: in Medicine the consequences will be very positive, but especially on military issues things are dramatically different. There are many ethical issues, like the yawning gap between the rich and the poor and it is urgent to universally agree to equality, AI controlled by the man, and its use in wars
Despite wide development in access to artificial intelligence nowadays,it can never and ever replace human and evict from jobs they do to the extent we worry about it.
Hello Luke! I'm deeply grateful for the way you analysed the AI issue taking into account the interview done by the BBC to Jeffrey Hinton. Personally, I think this is the thin end of the wedge, the world is changing rapidly till the point that we can't believe how it is possible that through AI most of the population on Earth will be replaced in their offices. That scared me a lot! Sincerely, humans are responsible for controlling the advance of AI, so we don't have to regret for a kind of SKYNET in a very close future. Thanks!!
Hi Luke, I just wanted to say a huge thank you for all your hard work. Listening to your podcasts is such a delight - your English is beautiful, and your shows are brimming with charm, intelligence, wit, and a genuine love for both the language and your listeners.
Сразу ясно, что вы русскоговорящая.
Of course we will choose you. Please keep going presenting such high level subjects.
