Archaon’s goal was to destroy the world in order to deprive the chaos gods of followers, thus causing them to starve and disappear. However after destroyer the warhammer world he found out that chaos has multiple worlds feeding and so between fantasy and aos he destroyed even more of those. But by the time of aos he has realised that this is futile and is instead trying to become a chaos god himself in order to kill them personally
Yes, most people dont know that Archaon actualy destroyed many many worlds after fantasy, And now he is trying to take the fight to the Chaos realm (the warp) but is a plan he dont want anyone to know.

If you read god eater’s son it becomes very obvious that archaon is getting close to this goal. The main character sees archaon in the realm of chaos and he’s basically a massive black shadow that they mistake for khorns true form.
This actually highlights one of my biggest issues with AoS - it totally demolishes any sense of scale Fantasy had. AoS is so tied up in it's underlying obsession of trying to be fantasy 40k that it falls into many of the same pitfalls.
The larger the scale, the more inconsequential and incomprehensible things become.
@@spnked9516 they had do make AoS "40K but fantasy" because that's what the market wanted, I mean Stormcasts are obviously space marines.
Fact is, despite the community disliking AoS, their choice was proved right in sales so you can't blame GW at all.
Archaon is cooler than Abaddon because the Chaos Gods are actually _scared_ of him. I find that really refreshing compared to 40k where the Chaos Gods are straight up invincible
Not really. If Ynnead or the Emperor were to fully awaken or power up Chaos is screwed. Also the Gods sure as hell fear the Emperor
The Chaos Gods are not invincible in 40k, but they are technically unkillable. Since they have become aspects of the Warp itself. So kinda like the Orks and real space, you have to destroy all sapient life in order to completely dissipate them. Its why I suspect Ynnead will not slay Slaanesh, just with the help of Cegorach release him/her/it's hold on all Alderi souls forever. If they can resurrect the Alderi gods as a result or the Dark Eldar will now worship Slaanesh proper is unknown. I also suspect that the EoM plan is essentially the same thing. The 4 Chaos gods feed on so much of human race, even if they do not worship them or are actively fighting against them. So the EoM plan seems to be to become the true God of humanity (I think that was his back up plan and not original one). In order to deny the Chaos Gods access to human emotions if they are not actively worshiped by the human. Fundamentally weakening them and there by calming the Warp like in the time before Humanity and Fall of the Alderi. Which also sounds like something Malice would love to help EoM do too.
I suspect that is why the 4 Chaos gods will not allow Vashtor to become the 5th Chaos god. Technically there is finite amount of mortal emotion and souls in the galaxy/warp. So in order for Vashtor to ascend, he would have to take or siphon away power from the 4 Primary Chaos Gods. This also makes me wonder if Ynnead, the EoM or even Cegorach himself functions this way.
@@Brother_O4TS Pure Imperium/Xenos propaganda. Big E coming back would flood Terra with chaos energy thus, giving them a killing blow chance to send everything they got at him which would either kill or severely weaken him again. And the ynnead won’t ever come into play since GW hates the Eldar lore and wants them to be the jobbers of the setting, throwing at every point they’re matched up with someone slightly posing a threat.

To give Abaddon credit, he is very determined in waging the Long War against the Imperium and kept it up for 10,000 years while the Daemon Primarchs are more content in playing the Great Game of Chaos and brood at their personal Daemon Worlds most of the time
Be honest. If you were a daemon prince/primarch, wouldn't you just want to go do your own thing? I would conquer a world and force all the animals into robots like Sonic.
Wasn't exactly 10000 years from his perspective. Time flows faster inside the eye of terror, which explains how chaos can spew out this many instruments of war so quickly

Without watching I can tell you it didn't take Archaon 13 attempts to destroy the old world and GW didn't also have to retcon a bunch of his failed campaigns

Abaddon didn't have a galaxy destroying force in one go tho, everchosen is more powerful than most in his opponent except sigma while abaddon is far from being at top 30 In the universe in term of personal power, yet he achieve victory/goal here and there and actually have a plan for long war, imo he's pretty good considering what he have for how far he have come as well as where he will go, pretty accomplished.

Both are basically handed their victories by GW with Archaon turning to evil because Sigmar didn’t tell him he was a special little boy and Abbadon is just his father but lesser.
Archaon actually had some development by reading a prophecy book about his unholy quest iirc. Like, imagine picking up a book describing all the horrible shit you WILL INEVITABLY do -according to chaos shenanigans-, and Chaos being a wonky piece of shit in fantasy. It wasn't that simple - it's still quite the shortcut tho, I agree!
Ive always really disliked how chaos was handled in both 40k and Fantasy. Sure, borderline endless legions of daemons showing up at the drop of a hat when a rift opens makes sense, but endless legions of chaos space marines or norsca raiders is just dumb.
The constant infighting and hellish environments both the norsca and the chaos space marines endure should make their rates of attrition ludicrously high - so their numbers should be extremely low. Both really shouldn't be a threat to their respective imperial opposition.
The fact that both of guys show up and die in droves really undercuts what they're supposed to be - the baddest of the bad. And the fact that they accomplish anything of significant consequence ever is pure creative bias.

@@spnked9516 Agreed that the average Chaos Space Marine should be an unit, despite the fact they still have some kind of "inductiis" through slave raids and stuff. Norsca, on the other end, aren't exactly endless. It's just that one chaos warrior is twice the girth of a southerner - and plated in heavy armor which most infantrymen from the Empire cannot afford. Guns are only efficient if you're not getting caught offguard, and beastmen are used as gunfodder.
Getting a video about how each of the pre heresy primarchs would have reacted to being in Guillimans situation of lord regent of the imperium would be pretty cool ngl

Abaddon becomes far more likable when you stop trying to view him as the grand high master of doom GW wants to portray him as, and start viewing him as Chaos' no.1 t@rd wrangler. His strength isn't that hes the best traitor general or the heaviest weigh-in, its that hes the only one who can force these idiots to do anything coherent for five minutes.
Which is why I think he’s a good character, just not a good arch villain. I think that Lorgar, or even Be’lakor would make for better “big bads” of 40k. Abaddon works best when he’s portrayed simply as an effective commander.

Considering Abbadon is fighting what is essentially an entire galaxy with a bunch of selfish psycho-axe murders, he isn't doing too bad
His army is the equivalent of herding 3 meter tall demon cats that do what they want not because they want to do it, but to spite everyone and he still wins enough that the galaxy has to use plot armor against him or literaly throw a primarch at him to stop his plans.

@@EarthenGames True but he has the safety of the warp to hide in (which considering he's the chosen of the Gods it's actually EXTREMELY safe for him). Tyranids, Necrons, Eldar, and Imperium can't really do much to him in there. Greenskins totally can (Tuska Daemonkilla) but they're plenty happy with all the other fights they're getting.
Archaon did succeed in doing what he wanted and won in the end. His only failure was not foreseeing Grimgor walking up behind him and crotch kicking with a size 18 metal boot during the End Times. Plus Archaon is the 13th everchosen, unlike Abaddon who failed 13 times.
So while Abaddon is the better as a fighter and leader, but Archaon was the better warlord if you measure their achievements 1 to 1. So Archaon is mt favorite Chaos Warlord above all others.

I'd like to add that the Grimgor thing isn't even canon. It was a fan voted alternative to the End Times where people voted the Greenskins won in the end and not chaos and that's how it turned out.
In the official lore Grimgore was winning a duel with Archaon but ultimately got bested as Archaon drew power from all four gods and became stronger, faster etc, and caught Grimgore off guard and ended with Grimgores head being chopped off.
Wasn't the kick in the nuts retconned cuz it was in Storm of Chaos tho? Doesn't change the fact that GRIMGOR IZ DA BEST anyway!
It wasn’t a nut kick, it was a headbutt, and it predated the end times by many years and was later retconned.

As a man who knows his AoS lore I can tell you that basically every battle Archeon shows up to is a victory. Its stated that one of the biggest reasons chaos hasn't won yet is because Archeon can't be everywhere.

How each pre-heresy primarch would react to the current imperium when placed in Gullimans shoes would be a cool video idea
In AOS, the chaos gods kinda fear Archaon. They need him because he is like the only one who is able to get the four factions to work towards the same goal, like Abaddon in 40k. However, Archaon is also by far their strongest and smartest fighter. His mount alone is able to kill multiple exalted greater demons without too much of an issue, and he has fought and beat gods as well. Not to mention he has his own warriors who are loyal only to him (the Varanguard), each of the chosen warriors having to complete comically difficult trials to obtain a position in the Varanguard. So you have a guy leading your forces that you cannot 100% control, but need him because only he can get your forces to work together. It's like the (early) Be'Lakor situation in 40k, where they gave him too much power and went "oopsie". Abaddon would need like a chaos knight backing him up to take on Droghar.
I find that the Chaos Gods fearing Archaon speaks very poorly of Nurgle since it shows the overgrown garbage bag preaches to mortals to accept the cycle of death, rot, and renewal, and it turns out he's afraid of being killed himself.
More reasons why he is really the biggest jerk among the Chaos Gods.

In age of Sigmar it was stated that Archaon conquered seceral wirlds and realities for chaos before the founding of the mortal realms. On top of this he is worshipped right along side the gods and can even empower troops similar to how they can. The mortal realms are also near infinite in size with billions of people living across them. Its the main reason people need realm gates and high level magic to traverse the realms. They are pretty on par with each other as far as scope and scale now
A single imperial hive world has more people.
@1IGG I would argue that's true for fantasy battles in the old world, but it is not at all true in AoS. Each realm is described as near infinite with the edges of each being unpassable magical barriers that obliterate anything that tries to go through them. One hive world would be far less than one entire realms worth of people since each realm is the size of several planets and has a mixed race population equivalent to that of several planets worth of people as well.

I think a lot of people forget that due to chaos being chaos it is extremely hard to get them going in a single direction at all but Abaddon was able to do it. And he can’t have a sustained war since chaos pretty much doesn’t have supply line. So he has to pick his targets strategically and not get drawn into a long war in real space. And each black crusade achieved certain objectives including destroying Necron pilons. So when cadia was destroyed there was nothing else to contain the rift.
There's a reason that the Imperium notes the Horus Heresy, numbers separate Black Crusades, and denotes other conflicts with the CSM, but CSM just view it as one, Long War.
Chaos doesn't need supply lines
Heck, the World Eaters DON'T HAVE LOGISTICS yet their Ships are well-maintained and they have UNLIMITED AMMO!!!

Archaons slayer of kings sword works a little different. He doesn’t use the power all the time but if he feels like he’s in trouble he activates it and it boosts his speed and strength to insane degrees, he steals the power of the blood thirster which usually results in his opponent being one shot. This is reflected in hi rules by rolling 2 6s to wound on slayer of kings will auto kill any hero.

You didn't compare the most important thing though Majorkill, who has the more ridiculous head adornments? Archaon's giant horns that touch his brain or Abaddon's top knot which grows everytime he fails.

Abaddon the Despoiler, the same egoistic vibe as Galaxy Force / Cybertron Starscream, when even the latter had accumulated the powers from the planets (or is it the Cyber Planet Keys?) in the show (also the crown reminiscent of the 1986 film) and openly tried to destroy planet Cybertron a.k.a Primus Himself to flex that Starscream's servos and Spark, and keep boasting to Master Megatron of his merits

I feel that the various Black Crusades should be retconed to not all be Abaddon's doing. Have some of them being the doing of the Daemon Primarchs and have some of them stopped by Eldar and Orks, while only some of them were launched by Abaddon so his efforts are a big deal.
