Great to see the style with which the Olds was done back in the day, so distinct from other models.

I love rumble seats in old coupes and roadsters. They give you more passenger space, but whoever's in them gets soaked when it rains or is freezing when it's cold.

Between all the other cars for '33 shown, the Oldsmobile speaks to me, and it definitely says the most. The body work almost looks like they took a '32 Oldsmobile and covered it in flowing bed sheets or drapes and then sculpted those lines into the sheet metal. What an elegant car!

First pick 33 Olds F-33, second Graham blue streak.
Model year 33 Olds production total is 36,648,
1362 F-33 business coupes were built plus 100 more with side mounts,
F-33 sport coupes with rumble seats and sidemounts was 286 built which the featured car is one of them, plus 1438 more with out side mounts.

Just think if it wasn't for the big scrap drives in the 40's and guys destroying so many pre war common cars in demolition derbies there would be more of the pre war common cars with us today to enjoy, cars was just a throw away item back then.

WYR1: I've always been partial to the Studebakers of this period, second choice would be the Willys. It bears a resemblance to some of the much more expensive marques of the time.
    WYR2: Graham Blue Streak!
Many, many years ago my junior year in high school (Columbia Military Academy) there was an English instructor who introduced us to the works of Jean Shepherd, specifically the collection of stories published as _IN GOD WE TRUST. All Others Pay Cash._
These were the stories that eventually made their way into the Movie _A Christmas Story._
One of the stories that didn't make it into the movie involved Ralph detailing his father's blue Graham-Paige inside the garage, then scraping the fender on the garage door as he tried to back it out for a dramatic reveal for the family.

Hi Jay! Can't remember why, but about two years ago I became fascinated with the mid-late '30's Oldsmobiles. The BEAUTIFUL 1933 is just styled so WELL! That coupe would be such a fun car to drive, too! Simple controls, decent power. WYR's are going to be easy for me this time as I want ALL of those cars! That way I would have TWO of the five coupes that are left!!! Seriously, though, all those cars are so great looking! I hope you are able to feature the Graham Blue Streak!

I think that back in the early 1970s, Revell or AMT produced some really nice Model Kits for this and other Cars of its era!! Some things that I just wanted to mention, these early cars were unfortunately, very unsafe. 3 big problems: I'm not sure when the layered shatter-proof glass came out! Then later, seat-belts began showing up! I can remember being 4 years old and our little Opel Cadet Wagon had no belts. Neither did the 1962 Rambler Wagon that replaced it. Finally, high-back seats. They all but eliminated severe neck & back injuries "whip-lash". The first Family Car I remember with seat belts was when Dad got a 1966 Ford Ranch Wagon. 289 2bbl. 3 sp Auto "Cruise-o-matic". That became my Car in 1974 when I turned 16 and got my license.

It was interesting to see the comparison's of the '32 and '33 models. Overall things were getting more incorporated like the headlights and running boards. The '38 is VERY different than either the '32 or '33. One of my favorite cars has always been the '74 and 5 Monte Carlo, partly because it somewhat revived the look of those 'separate' fenders, even though it was a non-functional styling feature, decades after the fenders were fully integrated into one plane. The fact it was an affordable Rolls Royce (yes I said that) didn't hurt. The '76-''77 Malibu front end though ruined that.

This is a beautiful car. The attention to detail in the design is always surprising, especially in a car that only cost $19,000. However, it would only last 50,000 miles without a major overhaul and that is only if the owner was meticulous in its maintenance. It required a lot of maintenance - lube and oil changes every 500 miles, cooling system every 1000 miles, ignition system every 5000 miles. etc. Compare that to a Toyota Camry that costs $25,000 and will run 300,000 - 500,000 miles without a major overhaul if it is maintained carefully. They last 100,000 miles without any maintenance. It requires very little maintenance - oil changes every 5000 miles and brake pads and timing belt every 100,000 miles. Cars are much better now than they were in the 1930s from a utilitarian perspective. ICE vehicles were very important to the development of the world and the rate of change in vehicle technology from the 1920s to the 2020s is mind blowing. My daily driver will be modern though I admire the art in early vehicle design and acknowledge the importance of ICE vehicles to the world.

I like the 33 dash better, and for WYR I'll have the F33 and the Graham. Gotta love the smooth swoopy lines with an art-deco touch of this one's styling. The interior door panels went too crazy with buttons though otherwise it's sweet. I saw a 37 4-door which looked semi-restored beside the road for sale a few months ago but was unable to stop for a closer look. It was gone 2 days later.

Just imagine what it would cost to build this car today. That woud be a $100k car if gm were to make it new. (Like the Audi super car designed in the 30's, and built recently, with rear/mid mounted v16, big dollar$) I'd love it if GM would build a modern 1970-71 cars and truck. They would sweap up if they made a new 70 chevy truck, a new 70 camaro, and a new 70 Chevelle, maybe a new Monte Carlo, and a new Vega, with a turbo 4cyl, maybe a hybrid version, just taq recent camaro change the body to a smoothed and streamlined 70 camaro. Mount the glass like a new car. The trucks wiuld be awesome, do the same just slightly smoothe the body lines, tighten up the fit and finish of the body panels, probably make tge grill and bumper "covers" from plastic. Use tge 2025 Silverado frame, take the original drawings for the cab slightly modernized it delete all chrome. And stretch the cab to make a 4 door king cab truck. And extended cab. Basically the inside looking like someone took a new truck and swapped the interrior into a 70 c/k, the crew cab fairly easy just basically put two cabs together. Make a 4'6" bed option for it or a standard short, a nonstandard extra long (8'9", or 9' bed. A blazer/panel truck option, that would be really cool. The same wheel base as a std. cab with a 4' bed, a long wheel base version equal to a crew cab with 8' bed. Available with rear seats , like a 2door car, or the 4 door version, ir utility version, long or short with no rear seats.only windows or no windows in the side panels. with 2 medium size, or a small a medium or only a small window, the same as rear passenger seat windows, with or without rear seats. Alao possibly a hard top convertible, with a roll bar option with bikini top. That Velcro and snaps on. As a truck extended cab, or standard. It would be an awesome truck series, and that is only the 1/2 ton, plus 2&4wd. Ev, ev hybrid. Id take about 6 of them , a panel truck front/ rear seats (2 front 3-4 rear seating) with two windows fir passengers. That roll down. 2wd, 6.2L LT with 6speed manual! (Or 10speed auto, with paddle shift, ) maybe another with a v6, add a turbo to that one!😮... And a camaro , and a Vega to daily drive. That would be awesome!.. why doesn't gm do it, everone loves the 70 Chevelle! Make a newone for about 6-8, 10-12 years!! With little revisions like the camaro got. Just dont ugly it up so much. A 70 camaro, and a vega, they look slightly similar!in the front, like the same ppl designed it! Sorry to ramble , have a awesome day , welcome to 1970l2025!✌️

Cars from the 30s are interesting. They are modern enough to drive around on todays roads (maybe not on freeways), but are old enough to still be pretty primitive is some areas, but simple enough to fix easily. I was a bit astonished to see an automatic choke; that may be one of the first uses of one. Personally, I think that the 32 Olds was better looking than the 33, and by 1938, they were downright ugly! WYR= tough choice, but the Hudson or Studebaker would be nice, and the Chrysler or Graham are good, too. NTT= unknown!
