Stick to a hybrid stack. Instead of pads on the flight plate or rim, put them right on the crack. You're able to still have good angle control and wrist angle and power pushing on the rim. I wouldn't go 100% all rim unless you have a WIDE open fairway because of the unwanted variables that come as a result.

To get my nose down, especially when I go for a higher line, I need both. I need a palm-up grip AND I need to follow through palm-down to get a powerful, negative alpha throw. Palm-forward grip gives me weak spin, early releases and a high nose angle. Played one season with that technique and I was constantly struggling with weak forehands that faded early or lifted.

Thinking about going back to one finger, like Marwede, because I can bring it a good bit further back, so could be more spin generated. I suspect I’m not the only one, and that I bet a lot of middle fingers just don’t bend as far back as using index only. Curious whether you’ve tried this.

I've thrown several shots 400-500+ without using this tip and I'm willing to try it next time I do some field work; however most of the power in a side arm has almost nothing to do with the wrist motion. If you aren't engaging your hip and core in the shot then you are losing half your potential distance

@@anthony452 Go throw a side arm with your hips facing forward and whatever wrist action you want. Then compare it to a throw where your hips start min 90 degrees and end up turning through the shot to face forward again. Then come back and tell me the results. The power comes from your body, not your arm and wrist. The only thing wrist does in this situation is adjust the spin your disc can have. Still important to a degree, but not where the real power of a throw comes from.

I’ve only heard this kind of advice from people at this golf courses or at disc shops. It’s more of an old-school way of throwing for hand. Personally, I can’t do the sacked grip. Serving the pizza for me works a lot better. For whatever reason when I try to do the stat grip, I lose all control of where the disk goes and it wobbles. I’m sure there’s something I could do to fix. I like having my palm up when I’m doing a forehand and I get good enough results from it.

You can think of an ultimate disc being like a putter with like 9 glide, as they take about the same power to get them to spin correctly. So since the max speed you can get to is less when throwing palm up, it makes a lot more sense to use in ultimate than in disc golf. I am a forehand dominant player and I only throw shots with palm up with putters, and only on touch shots where I need a little more control to get it to curve around a tree or something

Turn your fingers inward slight but not all the way to the rim. Do a hybrid with your pads on the crack. Add power while keeping control and flight plate angle. Its money.

You'll likely lose confidence with putters and approach discs. I'd stick to what you know if you're pushing 400. Max distance should be thrown backhand anyway wouldn't ya say? Nice work throwing 400. Thats a bomb.
