Hey Trevor, I’m not sure if you’ll see this but I actually took your putting tip. I had a my first MA3 Tournament Sept 30th (12 days after this video was released) and completely broke down my form to get the same grip you use. I ended up winning the tournament and I don’t think I would have won it if I didn’t stumble upon this video so thank you!
I’m 42 years old and I still play competitively. Don’t sell yourself short my dude, you are not too old to play competitively. Love the tips and as always content is crispy clean.
Great putting tip!! 3 months back playing after 12 year hiatus...don't ask. Had always wrapped index finger on rim in past and continued so now. Implemented tip today with instant improvement in both feel and results.
Tip #8: Enjoy the pressure. I really like that. For a while now I have been trying to intentionally add pressure to myself while out play casual rounds. I love getting into pressure situations on the course.
Great job ordering the tips to fit the holes as you played them for the most part. Could tell some planning when into that. For me, the picking an individual chain link when putting made my putting SO much better. It helped me not think about anything but throwing into my aiming point and nothing else. I also found that depending on distance I needed to pick a more right and high chain to account for hyzer and drop.
Had never heard that putting tip before this video! Instant improvement for me practicing it today and playing a round with it (and my putting percentage was all ready pretty good). Thanks Trevor!!
Dude, great video. Really useful tips for all players. And great conversational presence on camera, very positive and easy to follow. Really appreciate it, Trevor. Look forward to more. Ben
Love the tip about pressure! Will def be thinking about that for my next few tournaments! Also always wanted to try some Hooligan, especially the thread!
Great tips, Trevor. I''m enjoying the channel. (A shortcut for the first few tips is to play catch with a putter with a friend as part of your warm up. If you're newer to the game, play catch even more frequently. You'll figure out your thumb positioning, learn the fan grip, and will develop a touch forehand.)
Really helpful and relatable tip video Trevor, you put an awesome twist on the cliché technique videos that are all over these days. Multiple tips you mentioned apply to my game currently; the channel gets better every week! Can't wait for next Monday
Hey Trevor, idk if you’ll ever see this but if you doI just want to say that both of your tips videos instantly changed my game and I actually started winning tournaments (MP40) instead of just barely breaking into the top 10. Thanks so much for those videos! Literal game-changers!
Thanks for these videos. Great content, please keep them coming. So tips 1 and 9...i put with my finger in the way, and have been since Covid...when i started. I am a pretty solid putter. I really like what feels like 3 points of contact kn the putter...top, front and under. Finger under the disc thows everything off...im a casual once a week golfer, with 30 minutes a week to practice. Would you (or others in the comments) make the switch or follow rule 9? Thanks!
After 20 years of DG I changed to a putt grip with finger ON the lip. I've begun to use a fan grip under and finger on edge, for last 2 seasons. My putting USED to be either a lob shot or spin throw. Now I use the fingertip for most my putting that is
Love the new channel. Excited to try out some of these tips to try to improve my game. I currently putt with my finger in the rim so I am going to try to move it off. I have tried before, but it felt weird and I didn’t stick to it. Also, definitely want to be in the giveaway. The discs look sick. Yeet and vibe a little too high speed, but the thread would be perfect.
Great tips Trevor! Simple, easy to apply & focus on to make good habits. Been playing almost 6 months now, I'm a finger on the rim for putts, going to make that change. Thanks.
I never realized I wrapped my pointer finger on the outside of the rim until this video. I tried the adjustment today at the course. It's different but it definitely helps a ton. Thanks so much for the pointers!
These tips are pretty simple but honestly so helpful! Thanks for putting them all in one video, so when I come back I can get them all again when I forget in about 3 days 😂
Saw your video the previous night and used your putting grip technique and boy did it do wonders to my put. I used it for a 150ft shot and hit my second ace with it also! Love the video, thanks so much for the content!
I needed to hear this before last weekend. What you said makes total sense for why one of my buddies constantly had better upshot’s… his grip changes. I didn’t think about it but we have talked about it. Time to test some stuff
Thank you Trevor, I went and had a game after watching this video and I noticed when I moved my finger down from the rim, my putts was a hell of a lot straighter and more accurate. Cheers
Some of those tips do really help my game. The fan grip one just makes me sad, because I know it's true and I feel the same way you did before you used it.
WOAH this is a course in VA I drive by all the time working up there. I pack disc in my work bag waiting for a day i have time to play it! I recognized the course when you were on hole 13!
Great practical advice! Would love a video on course management. I have conversations with newer players and it blows my mind when they've never thought of "playing the percentages" or "playing for the good miss" when choosing what shot to throw.
Yes - that would be great. Never forget the day my then 14 year old won his first big tournament. Final hole - 2 shot lead - he pulls a putter out, when he had parked the hole other days with a mid. I kind of looked at him a bit funny, but he goes with it and his throw is 60 feet short - but easy upshot - tap in for 2 shot win. I asked him about it later and he said "the mid could have reached the OB golf green [which was left of the disc golf green], but the putter couldn't so I threw short". I learnt something about course management right there!
Love the tip about feeling the disc before buying. The last disc I bought without feeling it was the thunderbird and while I liked its flight, I hated its rim, especially for forehands and now I just don't throw it. Every time I'm at a proper shop I looove to feel all the plastics and rims. That lat 64 royal grand plastic is AMAZING
Really appreciate how the tips were deliberately ordered to match the holes you were playing (especially the first 4 in particular) to give them context and make it that little bit more meaningful. Hand feel is a massive thing for me, completely agree with that, if I don't like the feel of a disc and I bought it online or got in a player pack it doesn't go in my bag. Love all the tips, lots I know about, but even just hearing them re-iterated or explained in a slightly different way is still a great reminder to get me thinking about some of those things again.
Great video, personally took alot away from this. Like most, my game is constantly going down and sometimes up (lol). Been playing for years and really want to be more consistent so I hope these tips will improve my knowledge for the game.
Hey I’m the worst about putting my finger on the edge when I putt and also the forehand upshot helped me understand why my upshots have been not very good during my last 5 tournaments🔥 thank you Trevor I appreciate you doing this video🤘🏻🤘🏻
Learning to like the pressure reminds me of Alex Honnold, the climber. He's been asked about handling fear and his response was something like: the body reaction for fear and excitement is similar, so you can reframe it in your mind into excitement.
This was a fun video to watch. Where is that course?? Two weeks into learning this sport and so far, have scored two 30+ over par 😅. I can’t wait to be at the point where I feel as if I actually know what I am doing. Thanks for helping out. Tip I liked most was about aiming for a smaller target.
As a Texas boy I’d love to try out some hooligan discs from the giveaway. I’m really liking this personal channel and enjoy all the types of content you’re trying out. I guess it’s time to start taking my index finger off the lower rim lol. Keep up the good work!
Awesome video. The power grip one hits me hard but in a different way. I had this issue when I started. Then I decided to start only throwing mids and putters to get better and learn fan grip. Now I cant throw a power grip anymore nor a driver. Have to do something about that
My best tip right now, that seems to help me the most is happy thoughts. I credit Robbie C, "Man, it's gonna feel great when I sink this putt!", I applied this to drives too and it makes a difference.
Learning how to throw a forehand has been one of the biggest obstacles for me. I've gotten to the point where I can throw them but not reliably and I tend to be one of those that hides behind using the stability of discs still, but the tip about slowing the wrist down was paramount for me and I still have to remind myself from time to time to slow it down. Great video, Trevor and please count me in for the giveaway! Thanks!
Been looking for tips on putting and never really thought my grip was the problem, until I tried the fan grip after watching your video! What a difference! Felt awkward for the first couple throws but I’ve seen extremely quick improvements in my game! Thanks Trevor!
Thanks for the tips Trevor! Simple and practical 👌🏼 I’m immediately trying the first one, think I need it haha Coming here from your IG story, the Hooligan discs look sweet. I would love to be entered into the giveaway!
Background on hole 2 was amazing. The color depth of the trees and clounds made me think you were in front of a green screen and had done adjustments to the photo/video of the hole. I'm enjoying your tips and I'm one who recently switched from my finger on the edge of the putter to having it under the rim. Tip 2: I've mainly a forehand player and really try to slow down my forehand upshots....but sometimes they just get away from me and it's because I didn't slow it down. Tip 3: Oh, this is a hard one and one I really have an issue with. I need to do a better job of picking a spot and not just 'throwing it in that direction'. Tip 4: Fanning my grip on upshots is one I'm working on. When i do it, I do it well....at least when I slow down my upshot (tip 2). I need to work on fan gripping backhand. I do a slight fan grip, but it's halfway between a fan and power grip. Tip 5: Discing up/understable discs. My issue is not being able to judge distances so I tend to not use enough disc at times. As for understable discs, that is what I mainly throw. Tip 6: Feel of the disc when you buy one. This is why I go to the local disc golf shop. I prefer to see how the disc feels for me. Once I know a disc feels good and I can throw it, then I might buy a replacement online, but my initial purchase of a disc is always at a shop. Tip 7: I can't throw overhand. It really never works out for me. Instead, I compromise....sometimes the best option is to go out sideways or even backwards a bit. As long as I can get into the clear. Tip 8: I always feel pressure during tournaments and leagues. I have fun playing, but I always feel pressured. I'm going to have to learn to accept the pressure and use it. Usually self-pressure makes me play faster than I should. I have 30 seconds per shot, but probably take less than 10 seconds. I need to learn to relax and take my time, especially when there is pressure. Tip 9: Stick to a form. I am mainly a forehand player and that is definitely my upshot throw. I am working on improving my backhands, but not for upshots. Tip 10: Timing. And the tip that I need to work on the most. I am trying to stick to the timing that works best for me, but I do tend to speed up my walk-up too often.
Ive either heard or figured out all tips but tip 7. Ive never heard anything close to tip 7, so thank you for sharing that one. I also love the explanations on all tips. You explained many of the tips in ways I havent heard. Sometimes hearing the same tip explained in different ways can help someone understand it.
2:44 Get your index finger out of the way when putting
5:45 slow your wrist down on forehand upshots
8:20 aim small, miss small
10:50 fan grips exist for a reason, learn how to throw one
13:45 don’t be afraid to go more understable
16:30 prioritize hand feel when shopping for discs
19:03 when scrambling in the woods, look for daylight
20:20 learn how to enjoy the pressure, not to ignore it
22:43 develop a routine/form that you like, and stick to it
25:44 for distance, timing is everything
Thank you
All I wanted.
Perfect, this guy is long-winded
You are totally right. I really liked your "play-while-explaining"-approach! And the tips make sense to me as well. Thanks!
Hey Trevor,
I’m not sure if you’ll see this but I actually took your putting tip. I had a my first MA3 Tournament Sept 30th (12 days after this video was released) and completely broke down my form to get the same grip you use.

Dude, look at Scott Stokely or MJ or so many players. This is a game for a lifetime.
I'm about to turn 40 and I'm a year into disc golf, I would love to know how to get better at my age and be competitive.
Just keep playing. TH-cam and the people I played with taught me everything I know. Emulate until you find your own style and technique.
I appreciate that.@@travisobenshain2666
Great putting tip!! 3 months back playing after 12 year hiatus...don't ask. Had always wrapped index finger on rim in past and continued so now. Implemented tip today with instant improvement in both feel and results.
Tip #8: Enjoy the pressure.
I really like that. For a while now I have been trying to intentionally add pressure to myself while out play casual rounds. I love getting into pressure situations on the course.
25:30 love the pun...disc-claimer 😂 Great advice throughout!
Great job ordering the tips to fit the holes as you played them for the most part. Could tell some planning when into that. Love the tip about pressure! Will def be thinking about that for my next few tournaments! Also always wanted to try some Hooligan, especially the thread!
Love that you've started your own channel, dude. Subscribed.

Great tips, definitely some I'd not heard before! Really enjoying the new channel, keep up the great work.
Hey you got your own channel! Your an awesome creator Trevor can’t wait to see what there is to come!
Hey Trevor, idk if you’ll ever see this but if you doI just want to say that both of your tips videos instantly changed my game and I actually started winning tournaments (MP40) instead of just barely breaking into the top 10. Thanks so much for those videos! Literal game-changers!

I throw hooligan and definitely need some replacements for my Vibes and Yeets

VERY good video, Trevor! Easily one of the best disc golf tips vids I've seen.
I love that I have the same struggles you do so this was really helpful, thank you! I also would like to win those discs from your story
Love the new channel. Excited to try out some of these tips to try to improve my game. I currently putt with my finger in the rim so I am going to try to move it off. I have tried before, but it felt weird and I didn’t stick to it.

Trevor thanks for these tips and all your content. You have helped me out more than you imagine. Keep up the videos

Love how you break it down. Would love to huck some hooligan plastic in SC. Such a sick giveaway!
Great list of tips, impressed with how the Hooligan discs flew nicely too

Great vid Trevor! Index finger was a eyeopener to me☺️ Keep doing ur thing, its great!
Great Video. I really enjoyed this one! Super great thoughts.
I tried the putter finger tip yesterday. I get much more power and spin now. I made every putt inside 20 feet...amazing for me. Thanks!
I needed to hear this before last weekend. What you said makes total sense for why one of my buddies constantly had better upshot’s… his grip changes. I didn’t think about it but we have talked about it. Time to test some stuff
Really been loving the videos so far. Also, the names on those hooligan discs are great. Especially the yeet lol.
Thank you Trevor, I went and had a game after watching this video and I noticed when I moved my finger down from the rim, my putts was a hell of a lot straighter and more accurate.
Cheers
Great video Trevor! I would love some of those hooligan discs!
I have just started playing discgolf and really enjoys it and could use som more discs! Love your videos!!!
I respect any disc golf content creator that films misses. Cuz that’s real talk.
Thanks for the tips Trevor! That giveaway looks decent too!
Feels like I was watching a PBS program about disc golf and it was soothing and informative
Trevor is the best disc golfer ever. That giveaway looks spicy. Keep up the quality content!👍
That first tip was all I had time to watch and it still has been on my mind the whole day at school
Thanks Trevor, I need to try that putting tip for sure.
Hooligan Givaway 🎉 Also loving the Monday posts and excited to see how this channel evolves!
Some of those tips do really help my game. The fan grip one just makes me sad, because I know it's true and I feel the same way you did before you used it.
great video Trevor! - you are a wonderful teacher! - these tips are great - i can't wait to hit the course after all your great advice
I want to be like Trevor when I grow up
Me too
Me too, and I am about 25 years older
In which aspect(s)?
The attitude that there are lessons to be learned is one to me.
Also that he says he's not a master of something "yet."
WOAH this is a course in VA I drive by all the time working up there. I pack disc in my work bag waiting for a day i have time to play it! I recognized the course when you were on hole 13!

The fan grip tip is a good one! All of the tips were great really!
as a beginner I love seeing these videos, keep it up! i’d also love those hooligan discs from your insta 👀
Yoooo the putting tip helped me a TON😳😳
Appreciate it Trevor👊🏻
This was really well thought out and great tips
Love the tip about feeling the disc before buying. The last disc I bought without feeling it was the thunderbird and while I liked its flight, I hated its rim, especially for forehands and now I just don't throw it.

loving the weekly videos, keep up the good work my man
Favorite vid so far. Much appreciated, Trevor 🙏❤️
Honestly Trevor, you have a lot of great content, but this is one of your best videos.. Great Tips. Something for everyone. A lot for some. (me).
Great tips. Main thing for me is to just keep it simple and do what works for me.
Nice video Trevor! Thanks for great tips. I wish I started earlier but hey, hope ill be as good as you even sometime after 30 😅
Enjoy the pressure. Great tip!
Great tips Trevor! Really enjoying the content on this channel!
Also, would love to enter the giveaway for those Hooligan Discs 🤙🏻
I'd love to try out some hooligan discs! Appreciate the giveaway opportunity Trevor 😊
Great tips
Very helpful
Thanks
Liked the video flow and format, course management would be another good one
This was a fun video to watch. Where is that course??
Two weeks into learning this sport and so far, have scored two 30+ over par 😅.
I can’t wait to be at the point where I feel as if I actually know what I am doing.
Thanks for helping out. Tip I liked most was about aiming for a smaller target.
Crushing discs and crushing minds with this killer advice.
As a Texas boy I’d love to try out some hooligan discs from the giveaway. I’m really liking this personal channel and enjoy all the types of content you’re trying out. I guess it’s time to start taking my index finger off the lower rim lol. Keep up the good work!
Here for the tips AND the hooligan disc giveaway. Great vid!
Another solid vid lord Staub. When are we getting the Trevor Staub show back? Definitely miss the interview format podcast!
Quickly becoming my favorite dg channel. Love this man's vibe. Great vid.
I’ve always wanted to try hooligan discs - sweet giveaway!
Great tips btw. I especially took the first one to heart and started practicing it!
Loving this content, Trevor. Keep it up!
Awesome video. The power grip one hits me hard but in a different way. I had this issue when I started. Then I decided to start only throwing mids and putters to get better and learn fan grip. Now I cant throw a power grip anymore nor a driver. Have to do something about that

Been looking for tips on putting and never really thought my grip was the problem, until I tried the fan grip after watching your video! What a difference! Felt awkward for the first couple throws but I’ve seen extremely quick improvements in my game! Thanks Trevor!
Thanks for the tips Trevor! Simple and practical 👌🏼 I’m immediately trying the first one, think I need it haha
Coming here from your IG story, the Hooligan discs look sweet. I would love to be entered into the giveaway!
Awsome Trevor!! Thank you.
Great video trev! I will apply all of these to my game.
I would like to enter the giveaway to hopefully get some hooligan discs!
Great tips, thanks trevor
Ive either heard or figured out all tips but tip 7. Ive never heard anything close to tip 7, so thank you for sharing that one. I also love the explanations on all tips. You explained many of the tips in ways I havent heard. Sometimes hearing the same tip explained in different ways can help someone understand it.
Would love to try out those sweet hooligan discs and get to work on these tips😁💪🏻
Excellent tips, Ty.
