Toggleable features. Really not hard to implement, and especially compared to the relative payout of players loving the extra customization. This game honestly lacks personalization for how old it is aside from crosshairs, mostly present skins (mostly old skins, and many of the new are recolors), and color blind options used as a way to change UI colors (though, not sure this counts as it's an accessibility feature and not the intended purpose). @@RemedieX but whats the point of having toggleable features when one version is better than the other? just adds extra time for the team to add things in that just make the game more messy and less beginner friendly, when they could be working on new/adding more skins instead
@@TB4ever9001 The point of adding features that may be perceived as better, and therefore no point to toggle off, is because it genuinely isn't hard to make toggleable over mandatory and offers more range of personalization. Some people are very minimalist, others are maximalist, some prefer the competitive look, some prefer the more fun and immersive experience, etc. In reality, they should take a break from skins anyway, all they do is Mercy, Kiriko, and Genjis (mostly recolors for him) skins, and that's not even 1/3 of the players. EVERYONE would benefit from more customization. Not everything has to be skins and more skins. Updates that focus on the player experience are just as necessary for a game and it helps reinvigorate some of the appeal when the overall look of the game can be changed. Don't underestimate personalization, it's a big retention point, is not as hard as you think or time consuming to implement, and the payoff is worth it. I've worked on games, usually putting the players first, and the way these features are recieved is nearly always very positively. OW needs more of that as well, positivity from the community. This would be such an easy W for them.
Another thing is the Mythic skins should different have animations for abilities. I know there's a good video that has that concept with Genji, Junker Queen, Kiriko, and Tracer skin.
I think the special and ultimate abilities one is a really good concept The voice changer is not too much of a problem because we already have a visual indicator for most actions where voices are needed to be heard (I need healing / Ultimate charge voice lines) I believe the mythic skins specially need more flair in first person, which the custom icons are perfect While I also don't believe changing all the skins in every menu is a good idea, specially because it may take more time to scan a scoreboard even if you're an old player (It's not that it will take a long time, but it will take longer than normal)
Overwatch is very strong in it's game sense-centered design. Every footstep, ability (sometimes per ability type), gun sound etc. is uniquely designed and part of the reason you can identify anything happening in the game very easily. Changing this will mess enormously with your game-sense. Imagine tracer's sticky suddenly sounding different or your abilities refreshing/coming off cooldown changing. I love some of these concepts, but for a competitive game it would hamper some people's gameplay
I think that’s fair - I like the idea of voice line changes, that’s mostly fine, but changing SFX would be extremely unfair especially for stuff like Pulse or Artillery, where you need to be on the listen for it. (Note that Mythic Tracer does actually have custom effects on her Pulse Bomb but I’m pretty sure the audio changes are player-only)
I was thinking the same thing. Spend 1 hour adjusting damage/healing numbers and throw it out as a patch here once in a while and have the skin team make skins that are a tiny bit better, so players buy the next wave.
Your ideas are amazing!!:) I would absolutely love to see these or something similar added to the game and I think they’d fit in really nicely! Keep up the amazing content Popcorp!!
It would also be better for Mythic skins to have more unique animations. I remember the one person who made custom animations for say Mythic Genji and JQ's reload, and also for Mythic Tracer's recall. Those would def be a great feature to add to make Mythic skins more unique and special.
I hope this video will blow up! These are such great concepts for pushing the game a little bit more in the right direction again. Keep up the good work man! :D
Omitting the absolute banger quality of a video, those changes would absolutely sway me away from being interested in skins again. I only use base ones or recolors, but this is a pretty damn good idea to make it impact as many things a player wants. Seeing more of your skin in-game, obviously makes it worth more to our brain.
I dont think skins should apply when picking a hero, but when your hero is picked, i think it Should show your skin, as well with the scoreboard changes, i think the hero select and scoreboard should remain "default" to avoid any extra time taken to properly identify heros. Many skins change the hero drastically and this would be hell for a quick peek at the board, ingame you have many other factors to easily ID an enemy, such as pose, hight, abilities and more, but in a headshot on a scoreboard it would be very annoying even with your suggestions its unessisary bloat. But definitely, some Ui elements should match the skins you have on
Thats why he also proposed the settings feature for these things. If you, for example, really dont like seeing the Skins in the scoreboard, cuz of to much noise, you can just deactivate it in the settings. For other players, for example the casual people, it wouldnt really be a big deal
@@emma6648I get what he's going for. the idea is for casuals to enjoy screwing around with settings regarding customizability, while at the same time allowing the default settings to be off as to not confuse, new players, can also be utilized by competitive players if those players see the custom icons as too distracting. It obviously has pros and cons, but I think many players including myself tend to get really bored of staring at the same things over and over. Being able to switch around a few settings to see extra customizability to my UI would be so cool, but if it's too much clutter when playing comp I'll just turn it off. It's like quality of life improvements but with the option to say no to them.
Your concepts looks beautiful! Everything was so well done like the ability icons for the Tracer looked so high quality for example. I was going to complain for new players but you covered the solution I wanted at the end of the video. Only thing is it would make the game harder for new players to watch streamers of. Maybe streamer mode limits the cosmetic options to off only? I sort of like the animated sprays being limited to prestige only with top 500 accomplishments but your sprays for animated were tastefully done. I just worry opening that can of worms will lead to an abundance of low quality animated sprays spammed but that's a pretty weak reasoning point
Another idea is having hero select screen match the theme song of the skin you have equipped. For example: the Le Sserafim collab skins could have the instrumentals of their song playing in the background of the hero whose skin you have (like Dva or sombra or brig etc). That would make these special Mythic and Collab skins feel more...Special. Just an idea :D
cool stuff but i think the fact they do the exact opposite of what you suggest in the whole Concepts section IS one of the major things that gives overwatch such a clean and premium feel compared to most other mainstream competitive games
Totally agree. Overwatch is so much more accessible than its competitors purely based how simple and clean everything looks. I think the player icons and animated sprays would be a good addition that would help make skins feel more unique without adding in more clutter that could confuse players such as showing skins in the scoreboard.
I mean, this is why he included the section about the settings toggles and them all being off by default Like you do know that a ton of competitive players play on Low graphics settings to optimize frame rates and reduce visual clutter, yeah? This would also probably be something that competitive shot callers turn off too, but it's nice for us casual players that want to just shoot it up in a few rounds of QP or folks that don't take the game that seriously, but still want value out of the skin they paid for. Adding the option that is off by default hurts literally no one and just adds value for those that want it.
Imma wait a couple years until ur famous and making a ton load of money on this app and look back and be like “hey i knew this guy when he first started out!” Awesome video btw.
you could also have the custom mythic animations that someone on reddit made as a concept once, like genji's reload being different, kiriko's quick melee being a stab, tracers recall being different ect
This is really cool and I like it a lot to be able to show off skins more even though I don't buy skins myself, I only don't because I wouldn't be able to admire it as much as others would. As someone who is still kind of new to the game, I appreciate the opportunity to customize what you see yourself cause it would be confusing (I always used to get confused by switched ultimate voice lines) but you'd figure it out quickly anyway. This is amazing work!!
i cant believe this guy has less than 500 subs, the editing and detail of this video is just amazing. you need to be hired or speak with a blizzard employee because you have incredible ideas.
My issue with a lot of this is clarity in gameplay. One of the hardest parts of designing skins isn't actually the skin design itself, it's making sure the character and their abilities still look like that character's abilities. I think if they add custom sounds to being heard by everyone, it should be a toggle for self/ally/all. That way you can still pick up on the audio cues you're used to and not be forced to learn more for every skin in a game this big. Especially in a game like OW instead of a game like League where you can position your camera to get visual cues. Oftentimes, you need to be aiming, which is tied to camera position, so you straight up CAN'T look at some attacks if you don't know what sound it is. You mention this, but I think it's important to mention again since you mention it so far away from the initial topic. And the loading screen stuff. I think they can include it for the locked in characters and in game portraits, but as a player new to OW (not to games with skins, which is why I still feel I have a place to share my opinion) I already struggle figuring out what hero is what when my friends talk about the enemy X hero. I think they should already have names on the tab screen, but it would be a must if they do this. They can even do what league does and put the whole name of the skin there, which 95% of the time ends with the character's name. If it doesn't, the name is a pun like Heimerdinger has a skin called Beemerdinger. TLDR: I think if the audio changes are a toggle since they mean much more in a game like OW, and they add hero names to the tab screen (this one would actually make your idea of the tab icon change HELPFUL for new players instead of hurtful since they'd see what hero is tied to the skin before needing to see them use abilities and potentially die to it) would offset any potential negatives, and any positive change that doesn't have negatives is always welcome.
One thing I hate about ow2 mythics and sometimes shop skins is that they’ll get a unique ult voiceline, but only for teammates. You just hear the default one, which sucks because regular legendaries used to get unique ult lines all the time. (also the olympus and wrath of the bride skins have unique lines for both yourself and teammates, but only the teammate lines play outside of those 2 game modes)
Your editing skills and the suggestions you made in this video are both great, i hope the developers watch this video and implement those changes. Awesome content!
This is so cool! I also love the idea of having certain features be disabled for new players by default. I'm the kind of person that usually just uses one single skin for every hero (sometimes I just like the weapon for that skin, and for others I just don't really have a reason to switch it up...or simply forget). This would absolutely have me trying out everything I've accumulated over the years.
I think your solution at the end of the video was perfect with the toggle options and default to off, but maybe covering it earlier would be more ideal just in case their are any first time video watchers skimming through. Your editing is amazing also! Also maybe streamer mode should force toggle off the cosmetic options to avoid confusing new players watching. It is a bit no fun of a limitation but maybe it would be a fair trade off since this new feature is adding stuff rather than taking away
One thing that I always think about that would add a plus to the game cosmetically is that they add the POTG introductions to the hero selector, I always dream of them doing that
wait how the hell do you not have more subs, i love hearing about peoples opinion on game design and immersion, ui, ect. i look forward to future content! a few of these changes i already wanted but i never considered custom ability icons but that would be allot of fun, given how their pulling back on the amount they put in mythic skins i dont see any of this happening but if there are more vids like this out there we might get to see it
I'm sorry for my bad English but I needed to tell you the youtuber PJ Rascals made a concept about unique animations in the mythical skins, you would have mentioned it in the video because it would be another great idea
0:21 Now that I see it idk why that isn't in game already. They already have that portrait avaliable its not like they actually have to add anything to the game. The leaderboard makes sense though because those are 2d portraits.
I really love these concepts!! I was thinking the same thing towards the end- if players want to enable the changes, they can. If they prefer default overwatch, than so be it
There was a video by pj rascals abt a year ago showcasing some mythic animation reloads and other ability’s. If you haven’t I suggest checking it out as I think it would be a cool visual feature along with the other things mentioned in the video. Nice editing and video work btw. Loved this vie
theres actually an overwatch copy that makes it better than overwatch itself, where every skin has a voicepack according to the skin, made totally new, not only a few lines, and sometimes using different voice actors, and something good too is that you can choose which weapon use with wich skin, weapons and skins are interchangable
You also should be able to select what client-side ult voice line plays. Inarius Pharah has 2 unique ult voice lines for allies and enemies ("Prophet's barrage incoming!" and "Justice rains from the heavens!" respectively) but client-side, it's the default. The only mythics that have unique client-side voice lines are Ana and Tracer (though, tracer has multiple possible ult voice lines)
It seems to me that all competitive games should have a setting to completely disable cosmetics, so that the player can choose whether he wants to see the magma splashes from new mythical Rein weapon skin on half of the screen or prefer to see the default animations. Its super annoying that some skins and vfxs are obviously less or more visible and loud then the others. Crazy to have such inequality in a competitive game.
I love your video man, I never thought about these ideas.😮😮😮😮 Blizzard should really take your feedback. The custom ability icons that you made for tracer mythic are so sick.
They should also use the unique ultimate voice lines from seasonal events, not just for the mythics, at least for the owner's pov The battle for Olympus event had special ult lines for each hero included, however, the actual skins have all the unique lines except for those. Same for starwatch This is also inconsistent since some mirrorwatch skins which had unique ult lines in the mode keep them, like Widow. Ofc, it's also weird again, since Mercy has a "vengeance never dies" line in the game files but it isn't even used
I agree with it, and I think they could make some interesting changes to the player's profile page by replacing the avatars of the three current favorite characters with skins (or LOL-like illustration). Setting up more channels like this to enjoy the display skins will definitely sell better.
I enjoy the scoreboard idea, but I personally don’t like the look of the other ideas you proposed (at least in the first half).Great conversation starter though and I hope to see more videos from you soon. :)
This is amazing! I hope this gets popular so someone at blizzard can see this, even though they probably cant actually do most of these due to the current budget problems :/
They could also have the hero portrait be animated, so they frown when injured, grunt, visually speak when theres a voiceline, almost like the character has a gopro mounted on their head kinda thing
Most likely, Orisa's voice gets applied globally bc they just re-use her voice filter on other skins, but Orisa's filter is set to global since she requires it by default for her regular voice, as the only one to naturally have this, and the rest are set to local, so when the pitch gets changed, it's global for her, but local for the other skins (global being that all players can hear it, local being client-side where only you yourself can hear it). BTW, I think it would also be nice for new players to force everyone else to be displayed as default skins on their side by default until they get used to the game as well (or for people that want to reduce loading as well, maybe if they play on a potato laptop or something). To assist new players, maybe just prompt the player when they first log into Overwatch "hey, here are these settings, and this is where you can find them at any time", and then just to make sure they didn't skip it, have a "don't show this message again" checkbox unselected by default that they can select, and maybe remind them once every 1-2 weeks until they check the box that they 'acknowledge these settings can be changed in the menus at any time', or, something like that, idk. Just an extra thought. ALSO: If you want to enjoy your skins a little more right now, there are some "chill" custom game modes you can search for, and most have 3rd person cameras that you can use. Just search either "chill" or "friendly" to find them in the search bar. There is also a workshop website you can search around for many other types of game modes that might feature it as well.
5:23 I personally think they could do this do to the fact Rainbow Six Siege does this not only with there elite skins but even with some battlepass or shop skins and I agree with pretty much everything you said because I do agree that skins realistically only are seen in full detail with the guns and certain abilities for heroes. Someone gotta send this to Flats its a great video!!!

I believe the mythic skins specially need more flair in first person, which the custom icons are perfect
While I also don't believe changing all the skins in every menu is a good idea, specially because it may take more time to scan a scoreboard even if you're an old player (It's not that it will take a long time, but it will take longer than normal)
I really like the icon profile and spray animated concept! :)
this is In insanely underrated video and is really well made wow good on you 👀
70 sub btw make sure to remember me 😂
This is crazy production value and a fun video, keep it up, you will pop off!
(Note that Mythic Tracer does actually have custom effects on her Pulse Bomb but I’m pretty sure the audio changes are player-only)
2:35 was it a mythic voice effect? It sounds just like her default lol
6:08 now I see, definitely a subtle change lol
Too much work for blizzard. They don't care.
I was thinking the same thing.
Spend 1 hour adjusting damage/healing numbers and throw it out as a patch here once in a while and have the skin team make skins that are a tiny bit better, so players buy the next wave.
Paladin, Hi-Rez is small company but they can do better than Blizzard
they’re too busy creating recolours for the next battlepass
Your ideas are amazing!!:)
I would absolutely love to see these or something similar added to the game and I think they’d fit in really nicely!
This video was fantastic! The editing and ideas presented were superb! :>
Thats why the option to turn it off is there
He litterally addresses this dawg
@@tolly_HDit’s still a bad idea, then should always be default
Blizzard ain't ever putting effort for things like these as nice as they are
This video was so well edited and written! Keep it up!
this deserves more views
great content
I mean, this is why he included the section about the settings toggles and them all being off by default
Like you do know that a ton of competitive players play on Low graphics settings to optimize frame rates and reduce visual clutter, yeah? This would also probably be something that competitive shot callers turn off too, but it's nice for us casual players that want to just shoot it up in a few rounds of QP or folks that don't take the game that seriously, but still want value out of the skin they paid for.
Adding the option that is off by default hurts literally no one and just adds value for those that want it.
Yo, nice editing!
3:28 the problem would be confusing characters, for example there are some widow maker skins that can be confused with other female hero skins
6:29 "all the skins" Ramattra exists too you know 😢 but in the context his voice filter doesn't apply to all players sadly
Imma wait a couple years until ur famous and making a ton load of money on this app and look back and be like “hey i knew this guy when he first started out!” Awesome video btw.
There are some VERY great changes to the game here that i would like to see. Well done!
you could also have the custom mythic animations that someone on reddit made as a concept once, like genji's reload being different, kiriko's quick melee being a stab, tracers recall being different ect
video editing is so good, very cool ideas!!!
The ability to see skins in the hero select would allow you to match up skins with your team
reapers mythic skin’s voice can be heard by everyone
Really cool concept mr. Popcorp
i cant believe this guy has less than 500 subs, the editing and detail of this video is just amazing. you need to be hired or speak with a blizzard employee because you have incredible ideas.
Your editing is amazing.
Love the video!👍Great editing.
This is incredibly well made your definitely gonna grow with more quality videos like this and i love all the skin concepts you did very well done
Why do you only have 1.45k subscribers? this video is so well made. Pls keep making more :000
Blizzard should really hire this dude
This is so good! I hope blizzard sees this and adds some of the points youve presented. People would buy even more skins!
I hope you keep putting out videos, these are so well edited
1:57 Orange Juice reference?? 100% Orange Juice in MY Overwatch 2? Unbelievable, truly unreal
One thing that I always think about that would add a plus to the game cosmetically is that they add the POTG introductions to the hero selector, I always dream of them doing that
Still can’t believe I missed out on Lego bastion cus I decided to take a break the day before the event came…..
wait how the hell do you not have more subs, i love hearing about peoples opinion on game design and immersion, ui, ect. i look forward to future content!
a few of these changes i already wanted but i never considered custom ability icons but that would be allot of fun, given how their pulling back on the amount they put in mythic skins i dont see any of this happening but if there are more vids like this out there we might get to see it
I'm sorry for my bad English but I needed to tell you the youtuber
PJ Rascals made a concept about unique animations in the mythical skins, you would have mentioned it in the video because it would be another great idea
0:21 Now that I see it idk why that isn't in game already. They already have that portrait avaliable its not like they actually have to add anything to the game. The leaderboard makes sense though because those are 2d portraits.
The ideas for the mythic skins would give them so much worth
Plus having more ways to customize would make it just a bit more fun with the game
I’m down for a lot of these changes! It was a fun watch, I hope the OW team sees this.
I really love these concepts!! I was thinking the same thing towards the end- if players want to enable the changes, they can. If they prefer default overwatch, than so be it
TH-cam recommended actually helps giving me this video. Very cool Popcorp-man.
Amazing idea! I hope they'll make it to the game really soon (and hire you so you can bring more great ideas like this to the game)
These are some of the changes I would've expected to see in a sequel
There was a video by pj rascals abt a year ago showcasing some mythic animation reloads and other ability’s. If you haven’t I suggest checking it out as I think it would be a cool visual feature along with the other things mentioned in the video.
Nice editing and video work btw. Loved this vie
The visuals, editing and sounds are just perfectly on point. I guess I have to agree with everything you said now❤️
theres actually an overwatch copy that makes it better than overwatch itself, where every skin has a voicepack according to the skin, made totally new, not only a few lines, and sometimes using different voice actors, and something good too is that you can choose which weapon use with wich skin, weapons and skins are interchangable
Comp with team colours like the Overwatch League skins would be cool.
Dear fligma lord ! I though that ur ideas were great but ur art on those ability icons was amazing !
I love your video man, I never thought about these ideas.😮😮😮😮
Blizzard should really take your feedback.
The custom ability icons that you made for tracer mythic are so sick.
9:37 I HEAR OMORI MUSIC
You have amazing ideas for making the game feeling more alive!! I really hope Blizzard hears them ❤❤❤
In just 10 minutes you did a LOT more interesting stuff in this area than the devs
Seriously that was amazing
sending this to the blizzard team
They should also use the unique ultimate voice lines from seasonal events, not just for the mythics, at least for the owner's pov
The battle for Olympus event had special ult lines for each hero included, however, the actual skins have all the unique lines except for those. Same for starwatch
This is also inconsistent since some mirrorwatch skins which had unique ult lines in the mode keep them, like Widow. Ofc, it's also weird again, since Mercy has a "vengeance never dies" line in the game files but it isn't even used
W, insane edits and great points!!!!
2:06 Shout out to the 100% Orange Juice music being played here. That game is a bop and some of those tracks go so hard.
I agree with it, and I think they could make some interesting changes to the player's profile page by replacing the avatars of the three current favorite characters with skins (or LOL-like illustration). Setting up more channels like this to enjoy the display skins will definitely sell better.
Love the editing!!!
I enjoy the scoreboard idea, but I personally don’t like the look of the other ideas you proposed (at least in the first half).Great conversation starter though and I hope to see more videos from you soon. :)
2:22 thats why no one talks about the orisa mythic its only good part is the ult
This is amazing! I hope this gets popular so someone at blizzard can see this, even though they probably cant actually do most of these due to the current budget problems :/
I like the idea of animated sprays coming back and animated cons is cool!
There is also a workshop website you can search around for many other types of game modes that might feature it as well.
finally a different video about ow and not the usual useless rant! btw i loved every concept!
5:23 I personally think they could do this do to the fact Rainbow Six Siege does this not only with there elite skins but even with some battlepass or shop skins and I agree with pretty much everything you said because I do agree that skins realistically only are seen in full detail with the guns and certain abilities for heroes.
Someone gotta send this to Flats its a great video!!!
insane editing man, hope you get your following !! 56th sub :))
Thank you
damn only 211 subscribers?! i really thought that was a famous channel due to the quality of the video.
I'll sub now, keep it up!
Really underrated! 😁
Underated as heck, great video 🤙🏾 thought you had at least 10k subscribers
Amazing video. Blizzard or the Overwatch dev team needs to catch wind of this and add it into the game, it amazes me we went so many years without these cool concepts that can help immerse more players.
Honestly amazing video I hope blizzard can implement everything you showed
