    This video is excellent - I love how clearly you teach. I’m going through this process now - nobody explains how you’re supposed to get patterns to line up AND overlap the paper…. at the same time. So, I didn’t overlap. I lined them up perfectly. 🙄What a huge mistake. By the next morning, there was 5mm of white wall showing between papers. By that evening everything was loose, peeling off and those gaps had become a full centimeter. My advice to people is find a way to overlap, whether you want to or not and DON’t trim ANY of your edges for at least a week. Because I trimmed along the bottom of my overhead kitchen counters, and the bottom of the paper where my counter tile was, and now I have a huge white paint gap ALL THE WAY AROUND all of the paper I spent 3 hours carefully putting up. That was days ago. This evening, I got out my blowdryer, and painstakingly heated each piece up, starting on the right, and peeled them up, overlapped them, pressed them back down, heating all along the way so they got extra sticky. Had to redo all outlets, screw holes for shelves. What a mess. There are gaps everywhere I cut - seriously, don’t cut any edges until you know it’s stuck down and not coming off and has fully finished shrinking, or you’ll regret it. And heat helps (blow dryer on hot…NOT a heat gun).

      Thank you so much for watching and sharing your experience! 😊 Your detailed tips and insights are incredibly valuable and will surely help others avoid similar issues. Overlapping and waiting to trim the edges are great pieces of advice. Using a blow dryer for extra stickiness is a fantastic tip too! I'm sorry to hear about your initial struggles, but it's clear that your perseverance paid off. Thanks again for contributing to our DIY community! 🌟

    @4:23 - I would suggest turning off power to the outlet. You never know if the wiring to the outlet was properly insulated. One slip from the exacto knife and sparks will fly! Great video, though!

      Safety is definitely a top priority, and I appreciate you bringing up the importance of turning off the power. In the video, I made sure to include a reminder to "turn off the breaker" above the outlet, indicating the need to switch off the power from the electrical breaker. I'll ensure to explain the importance of this step more thoroughly in my future videos. Thank you so much for watching and for your feedback!

Im on my own so cant afford new so id have to get something decent that lasts , hey its on me using it for now. Never no when 1 of my 4 adult kids will come home lol.

You're absolutely right, peel-and-stick wallpaper has come a long way since the '80s. It’s much higher quality now and can look fantastic when applied right, even on textured walls. The flexible squeegee I used is actually a tool meant for cleaning glass doors and windows, but it worked wonders for this project! You can check out all the tools I used, including the squeegee, here 👉🏼 amzn.to/3FoF8wB (affiliate link). Good luck with your kitchen worktops-I'm sure they'll turn out amazing! I still have to give credit to the type of peel & stick wallpaper I used (mentioned in the description) because it mentioned that it was 3 times thicker than competitors. • @KimagineDIY
      @KimagineDIY  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I completely understand where you're coming from. In the video, I give the wallpaper a ton of credit. The company mentioned that their peel-and-stick wallpaper is three times thicker than the average wallpaper, which helps with coverage. I've worked with thinner wallpapers in the past, especially when covering furniture, and I had a similar experience with the texture showing through. This particular wallpaper also has a texture to it, almost like a linen feel beneath the graphic design, which I believe helps mask the wall texture. Thank you so much for watching and sharing your feedback! 😊🎨

      No I am not washing the texture off. I am cleaning the surface so the adhesive will stick better to it. The peel & stick I am using claims to be thicker than other companies. I feel that also helped with the look. It is not as "Bumpy looking" as other thinner peel & stick wallpaper brands.

    How well does it stick to concrete walls?

    • @KimagineDIY
      @KimagineDIY  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you so much for watching and for your question! Although I haven’t tried using peel and stick wallpaper on concrete myself, I did some quick research to help out. I was surprised to find out that it was possible.
      Research states:
      Peel and stick paper can adhere to concrete walls, but success depends on the wall’s condition and the type of paper you use. Here’s a quick guide:
      - **Surface preparation is key**: Make sure your concrete surface is smooth, clean, and free of dust, dirt, and grease for optimal adhesion. You might need to wash the walls with a TSP solution or sand them lightly to create a better bonding surface.
      - **Consider the type of peel and stick paper**: Opt for thicker, high-quality vinyl wallpapers with strong adhesive backing for better adherence on concrete.
      - **Manage expectations**: While peel and stick paper can work on concrete, it might not be as permanent or durable as traditional wallpaper or paint. Be prepared for possible peeling at the edges over time, especially in high-moisture areas.
      Here are some additional tips:
      - Apply the wallpaper in small sections, smoothing out any air bubbles as you go.
      - Use a primer specifically designed for high-alkaline surfaces like concrete if the wallpaper recommends it.
      - Monitor the edges of the wallpaper periodically, especially in humid environments, and reapply if necessary.
      😀Just a heads up-the texture of the concrete may show through the wallpaper, kind of like saran wrap over a bumpy surface. Good luck with your project, and feel free to reach out if you have any more questions!

      Thank you so much for watching and for your inquiry! I'm delighted to say that the wallpaper is still holding up beautifully after a year. However, I did notice a small detail I would tweak if I could go back. In the video, I recommended overlapping the wallpaper by at least 1/8" to ensure a seamless look. Unfortunately, the design of this particular wallpaper didn't allow for overlapping without it being very noticeable. As a result, I have about a 1/8" gap in my seams now. Overall, though, I'm still very pleased with how it turned out. Thank you again for your interest!

    Is there a peelable wall paint, similar to what they have for cars? Peel stick wallpaper does not work on my walls as the landlord has painted over velvet textured walls.

    • @KimagineDIY
      @KimagineDIY  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello, and a big thank you for watching and reaching out - I appreciate it! 😊
      Regarding peelable wall paint, I must admit I haven't come across that. You're absolutely right; peel-and-stick wallpaper might not adhere well to velvet walls. If you can get the green light from your landlord, painting the walls and returning them to their original color before leaving might be the most straightforward approach. You could even discuss approved paint color options with your landlord to save you the hassle of repainting when you move out (just make sure you get written approval). Good luck with your home decor plans! 🏡🎨😄

      Hi, I think my wall texture would be similar to the orange peel and it has been doing great. Staying up for about 10 months now. I loved the brand I used. They stated the peel & stick was 3 times thicker than most brands.
      Depending on the peel & stick design the knockout texture may show through. It is removable, it didn't damage my wall when I kept lifting it off & trying again. Maybe test a small area?

    I would have crawled up on the washer/dryer and wiped those walls with a wet cloth.
    That mop would've wrecked my already wrecked back. 😅

    Textured walls???..You pulled that off nicely. We are told never over texture.

      I know! Everything I found told me not to. So far it is still great! 😃. I still have to give credit to the type of peel & stick wallpaper I used (mentioned in the description) because it mentioned that it was 3 times thicker than competitors. I only have the smallest seperation between 1 of my seams because I didn't overlap it enough. It is barley noticable and I am still overall fully happy with the turnout😄. Thank you so much for checking out the video.

      @@KimagineDIY you've ran into gators? And snakes? Omg.. not nearby your house I hope .. yikes 😅

      Small garden snakes near the house, not poisonous. One alligator was small in a pond near where I used to live and one in a creek when I was visiting another town. I thought it was so cool to see them. I watched far away, safe distance. They were just swiming/sun bathing.

    She made it look easy but it's not. At least not for me.

      I totally get how challenging it can be, but let me tell you, the type of wallpaper I used deserves all the credit. It was incredibly forgiving when I applied it, which made the process much easier. So don't lose hope! Remember, practice makes perfect, and you'll get better with each try. Keep going! 😄👍
