@@bracoop2 Energy may be the same. Velocity isn’t. It’s the velocity, in the form of hydrostatic shock that causes “misting”. I’ve been a hunter, and reloader for many years. And I own….several 45-70’s from Trapdoors, to Sharps, to Marlins. I’ve killed deer (and other animals) with heavy subsonic rounds and light supersonic rounds. Heavy rounds cut a nice clean hole all the way through. Supersonic rounds cause massive wound channels and blood spatter.
Scenario: Shoot a woodchuck with a 40gr 22lr. Now shoot that another one with a 40gr SP from a 22-250. One causes a hole. One causes an explosion.

Even if they could eliminate all the sound from the round being fired you may still hear the action of the firearm while it cycles.

I kind of like it myself. A couple of days ago I just bought a Henry big boy with a straight loop chambered in 44 Magnum with brass receiver, barrel strap and butt plate. Accurate and fun. The only downside is that she's so pretty you don't want to get her Dusty or scratched up.

Henry makes the Frontier in 22LR and 22 mag with a threaded barrel on a lever action. Hard to find the 22LR though.

Please ask a representative from Marlin when we can expect to see 44 magnum lever action rifles again. Also ask them if they will make a 454 Casull/460 Magnum, 480 Ruger, and 500 Magnum lever action rifle. Rossi makes a 454 Casull, and Big Horn Armory makes a 454 Casull, 460 Magnum, and 500 Magnum.

I love a subsonic round that leaves all of its energy in the target as opposed to one that has a lot of potential energy but by punching straight through wastes a lot of it.

I wonder if Underwood Ammo sells 45-70 ammo. Even if they didn't I wouldn't want to put that through a rifle I was shooting because I like my shoulder. I do love Underwood ammo though. It's one of my main go-to's for Bear loads and just about anything else I need. I'm particularly fond of their coated hard cast bullets and they're all brass Extreme Penetrators. Look at their ballistics data on any other cartridges you want to check out and I think you'll be impressed, especially after you read the reviews on them.
