I got chills when Tamera started preaching at 3:25. People... don't be foolish. Don't be so wrapped up in the passion and aesthetics of your romance that you forget to protect yourself. You don't get pre-nups to prepare for divorce, you get pre-nups to prevent your life from getting ruined. People can turn on you in ways unimaginable. I mean, just look at people who murder their spouses for insurance money. You think she would've married him knowing he was that type of guy?? Like Jeannie said, a prenup protects your family, not just you. It also makes for a much, MUCH less stressful experience should a divorce ever occur. Don't be foolish enough to assume your relationship would never deteriorate to that level. No one gets married thinking they will get divorced; you hope for the best, but prepare for the worst. My own life experiences simply do not allow me to be as naive as Adrienne.......

I'm a very firm believer in "hope for the best, prepare for the worst". having a prenup doesn't mean you're expecting the marriage to end, it's just preparing for the worst case scenario.

She isn't naive, she thinks that divorce would bring her so much of his millions. When your husband is rich, you aren't naive if he doesn't a pre-nups. Actually she is very smart.
After seeing so many videos of this show before coming to this one, I was not at all surprised she was the one to bring that point up. It is quite a common opinion though, even from the smartest of people. It's hard to balance the stigma vs the logic behind prenups. I just knew she would be the one to verbalize it.
Why is Loni all surprised about Tamar not having a prenup when the SAME EXACT conversation took place a year prior and she had pretty much the SAME EXACT response to the SAME EXACT revelation by Tamar.

And I can't stress this enough: it's not the rich people who need prenups *it's the middle class, lower middle class etc. hard working people who are barely being able to pay for what they have - these are the people who NEED PRENUPS!* Rich people can afford to pay for a divorce, regular people can't, they need to have all these financial things figured out beforehand when it's still possible to do all in peace.
Tamar's comment about her and Vincent having a discussion on the topic of divorce really brought a tear to my eye. The fact that they chose not to get a prenup because they both agreed that "divorce is not an option. It is the last, last, last thing to do." That was a really beautiful thing to hear! :)

I used to think just like Adrienne and feel like having a prenup was preparing for divorce. You can chant "divorce is not an option" all you want but the reality is IT IS an option and people can change. YOU can change. Anyone can become a monster if they don't keep themselves humble and in check especially when money is involved. A prenup should be a protection for both people in the marriage.

Exactly. Just because you are both very much in love now, does not mean that the possibility of something bad happening doesn't exist years from now. Not saying it will happen, but it's important that both parties protect themselves for when things do turn ugly.

I think pre-nups are VERY smart things. My uncle (who is a high ranking officer and shareholder for a Fortune 500 company) and his wife did not get a pre-nup prior to their marriage. It turned out to be an all out war in the courts and guess who got half of his hard earned money. She did. Before I get married, I plan on getting a pre-nup and I hope my future spouse plans on doing the same.
I loved Tamar in this segment for some reason! She was still normal Tamar but not "too-too much". that's my girl. I love her and Tamera.

A person not signing a prenup doesn’t mean they are out for money. It can depend on the terms of the prenup. And Tamera is right about people turning crazy and pretty much unrecognizable. It’s not planning for a divorce... It’s the acknowledgment of the reality that at this time as much as we want to be together and PLAN to stay together BUT anything could happen. Prenups aren't just about preparing for your divorce, you can put stuff on it that only comes true if the otherone dies. It can be about "this person's family can't claim my property if I die first" etc.

But there a lot of women and men who ended up regretting that decision because like Tamar said, people become unrecognizable in the even of a break-up. They will turn into an alien that makes you wonder if you ever even knew them. Men can become abusive after they become married. Divorce not being an option no matter what sounds like the fantasy of a child still believing in fairy tales. There are always exceptions to every rule. I happen to subscribe to the idea of marriage not being an option except in the case of domestic violence, child abuse, i find out he's a pedophile, he cheats on me regularly(with women young enough to be his daughter, are underage, my sister/family member) is a rapist, becomes a murderer or develops an addiction that it takes over his life and ruins the family such as gambling the family's saving and money meant for the kids. I will divorce a man under those circumstances. Period.
And if i had a prenup, there will be stipulations in that contract that if we divorce because of those reasons, he will get nothing from me, i will get primary custody if we have children. Obviously, i get full custody if the divorce is because he is a pedophile/rapist.
A prenup is there to protect me and the family we build together. Planning for a divorce is what wise people do because they understand that things can happen and people do change. It's someone willing to deal with reality.
Stubbornly refusing to divorce a man who is abusing you, abusing your children and/or financially ruining your family because you don't want to be that woman who gets a divorce and want to stay married no matter what is a sign of foolishness and a selfish mind. And sadly, there are many men and women like this.
We all hope for a relationship where both parties a fully committed to the growth and nourishment of the family and marriage. You keep your end of the bargain and he keeps his and doesn't do things to ruin what you've built together. That's amazing. I wish everyone this. But simple statistics and logic dictates things can happen and smart people prepare for it.

I've no plans to get into a long drawn out battle. I do think though that if you come into a marriage with wealth you should protect it. To each its own. I believe that when you marry, you marry under The Lord. Meaning you know that you know that you know that person is for you and you don't have to worry about "what ifs". I'm not knocking prenups, however, you don't need to be unsure prior marriage.

Marriage is a legal process, as is divorce. Before getting married, it is smart to prepare a document that takes some of the strain, pain and stress out of divorce should you need it. If you can take some time to look at marriage as a legal process before you get married, you will be much better at making those decisions than you will be when you you are experiencing the trauma of divorce. Why not make that process a bit easier on yourself when you have the time to?

Personally, I'm not sure if would get one. I feel like marriage is when you become one with your love one and things like money could make or break your relationship in any way. What I want is to have a relationship built on love and trust, not me worrying about my man doing dumb stuff behind my back and ending up divorce. I hope money will not make our relationship or break it, together or not
+Super Girl You make a good point in that a couple has to approach a prenup with a *healthy* mindset. You can't be getting one because you value and cherish your possession more than your marriage with that person, or out of distrust. But at the same time, you need to protect EACH OTHER. You get a prenup to protect BOTH spouses. When you sign a prenup that both parties agree on, what you've really done is protect one another should a divorce occur. A prenup prevents either spouse from acting crazy and trying to sabotage the other because the prenup restricts so much of what you can or cannot lobby against one another. Without a prenup, one spouse could go berserk on the other and practically ruin that person's life. We can only pray we don't end up with someone like that, but it doesn't always happen that way. It's all love and trust until someone stops loving and trusting. Life is not in your hands, it is unpredictable, so be safe and protect each other.

dear The Real, I am writing to you not only because I love love love the show but I also love the decoration of the set. I am totally and utterly in love with those planters, I have looked everywhere especially online to find them and I know it's a mixture of different ones but the one in the quilt or cushion pattern like OMG. now the reason for my comment is LOL if you all decide to change the set again all the it is absolutely beautiful, but if you do may I have the entire set that's on Adrienne's and Loni's side, I am so in love with them that I even have a spot in my house reserved for them, and as a faithful and loyal viewer that would be a wonderful gift for me LOL thank you
