These were done for the 1st Annual "BladeRunner Bazzar" Knife show this past January at their store. Microtech, Heretic, ABW, McCoy Bladeworks, and several other makers used the 80s CamoCarbon theme for their exclusive knives for the show which came out great. All these makers showed up at the store for the show and it was a great time.
I've been looking at the Model 1 for some time but found the standard scales too boring for the money. Your showing me this one pushed me over the edge. Thanks, Rollshambo. I think.
I’m still fairly new to knives but this would definitely, 1000%, guaranteed be my most expensive knife purchase so far, I know it’s still not much money for such an awesome knife but since it would be for me at this point I have to nitpick. The rear flipper is what will hold me back, it’s such a perfect knife to not have a rear flipper and let you get that beautiful flat edge right down flush. Everything else is exceptional though, maybe I should make the “everything else exceptional” rule as well. If it just had either thumb studs, hole, fuller, or heck even a front flipper I’d have purchased it immediately after finding this video.
I agree..I'm considering sending it off to a knife modder to have a hole (or a fuller) cut out..this is a knife that I think would benefit well from it
@@Rollshambo that’s an excellent idea, it would benefit and be worth it. That makes me wonder if the flipper can be carefully ground off as well or if it’s used as a stop.
based on my experience with the one I picked up I get a no nonsense vibe from the company, they make simple designs that work VERY well, their commitment to this is highlighted by their heat treat of magnacut at 63-64 and I can tell you the edge on this model 1 feels superb. The finish on the blade is not pretty, but its a reminder that its ok to scratch your knife when you use it, that the steel beneath will still perform even if its not winning any beauty competitions. what makes the inlay so cool is that this reflects an exception to their current no nonsense design language, and makes it a bit of a standout that I thoroughly enjoy. - monologue over, TLDR; I have a lot of love for this piece!
@Rollshambo Awesome! I have ABW penned in next to TRM, Tactile, Protech, and Hogue's upper end as premiere US companies I'd like to save up for where possible. (Microtech, CRK, Hinderer technically there as well, but the "legacy" companies don't excite me as much. Oz and Koenig are just too far out of the reach of my willingness)
Does that thing have a double clutch to it? I've seen a couple of reviews for the model 2, and in every one, the knife had the dreaded double clutch. Thanks for the review, and see you on the next one bro
I traded mine for my arcane abyss with the ghosted timascus kit!! Great knife! Fun fact they only did 50 of these!! When I talked to the fine folks at ABW and they hrc it at 63-64!
It's nice Rather, see carbon on both sides. And a finish on the blade that matches with the scales. They are on track but missed with me. I love the direction they are headed with it !

Definitely felt the same way!..got skiff in the mail for this one as we speak too
@@Rollshambo Mine will ship tomorrow. Should be here Thursday or Friday.

Thanks bro
Oh yeah its got pop. That thing is gorgeous.
The difference a carbon fiber inlay makes...I couldn't resist😂
I’m a sucker for Micarta. I think an OD green inlay would look nice.
I think a titanium frag inlay would have been pretty sweet too for a texture mixup
This makes me really want a Model 2 with 80's Camo Carbon
I was thinking the same thing..I'm not sure what the odds are on us getting one though apparently only 50 of these exclusives were made
Glad you got to check this out. I'd love to see how ABW's knives are.

Just got mine yesterday ordered on your cast absolutely love it! Just really well done
Hell yeah! I got skiff coming in the mail for mine, stoked to get those installed
Sweet let me know how the skiffs are in it may do that myself
I’ve loved both of their designs and this has been on my list for a while. If only they would do a thumb stud/ flipper combo version
I was thinking the same thing..a deployment hole would also work
Gorgeous, and props to them for the reversible clip, thanks for including us lefties ABW
Tough as a lefty sometimes
I was at the event it was made for. Love to you and yours. There was a Heretic made too!
I like fidgeting, and I know that’s DEPLOOORABLE. Had me laughing so hard while flipping a PM2 salt 😂
🤣🍻
Maybe it‘s just me, but the way they milled that 80s carbon inlays, it looks like an early ATARI pixel game to me 👾
Ita because of the vertical milling that continues from the scales onto the inlay..adds some decent grip though!
@@Rollshambo Super nice! 🤩
That's awesome. Looks like they had 1 for the first version also.
Nice!
Wow that is sick. I had no idea that version existed either. And just in time for St Pattys day.
The moment I found out about these it was over for me😂
beautiful USA knife

The flipper hits the thumb so early it's hard for me to tell to be honest

Is it a Reverse Drop Point? Is it wireless. I am waiting for the trolls to set this matter straight.
It’s a reverse drop tanto wharncliff 🤣🤣🤣
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
It's nice
