For some time now, however, this resource has become scarce, due to its intensive exploitation and the deforestation of the region... Tewet, who knows Borneo by heart, guides us through his island to discover its hidden treasures, between caves, rivers and forests.

What amazed me about this documentary is that they share the exact same climate with my part of the world, Liberia, West Africa. I even saw some of the trees that we have as well. Thank you for this wonderful documentary
That why the Southeast Asian architecture roof are "V" multi-tier roof, like Thai roof, Burmese roof, Cambodian roof, Minangkabau roof(Sumatra Indonesia), Melayu Selembayung(Malaysia and Sumatra), Javanese Joglo(Indonesia). it fit with climate, most ancient ruins n structure/temple, city wall and palaces hard to maintained, it easy to rot and decays, look at Angkor wat city complex, Bagan myammar, Prambanan indonesia, only temples remain

These natives are really tough and adventurous. They are real jungle survivors better than all trained commandos. We have much to learn from them. These dogs are really free animals. Simple natives with responsibility for their families. Thank you all for this wonderful video.

When will we start 😔 to listen to these intelligent keepers of our wondrous World? It seems like a no brainer. Thank you for this wonderful 💖 💜 documentary. Let's hope we learn some lessons from these amazing people.

beautifully narrated and excellent photography
I had no idea they would make such an interesting and beautiful video. I especially liked the climbing scenes as I climbed for over 20 years and did ice climb for 2 winters. Doing dead vertical grade 5 ice is a real physical grunt, and these guys climb these ropes and make it look easy. Best part of climbing scenes starts at 38:35 and goes on for about 8 minutes.

The snake at around 12.38 is not a Garter snake. It's a Cave Racer, Orthriophis taeniurus, a harmless Colubrid species. Also found in the Batu Caves near Kuala Lumpur Malaysia. They are cave dwellers and specialist feeders on bats.
Borneo has the climate to grow lots of food for the family on your own land. Why do you have to bother to find money to send kids to school. After they go to school, they need a job, to pay for food. But you can directly grow your own food in such a rich climate and soil... Don't follow the societal demands; don't listen to the conventional way of life; as long as you can grow your own food you will have an abundant life with or without education.
It's so sad they they don't want to be self-sufficient, they have everything they need now, in a couple of generations, the people may not even know how to live off of the land if they want to.

The people steal the swallows nest, why do birds build nests. No eggs, no hatchlings, no birds to build dinner for people. It's a mystery why there are fewer birds. Anybody have a clue. ....????

They took the old nest..new nest and nest with egg they left it behind
Bluddy asians will eat anything and thats why the swalllows are extinct probably ate the birds,eggs and their nest.
Birds don't recycle thier nest. When the season came... they built a new nest.

If you look on the hands there are markings. It could be an alphabetical code for language. Enter in computer. The dots can be sentences. The hands can be pointing directions by the direction they are pointing.
Good news about the timber export ban, the orang utans and the cave paintings. Maybe the forest can be saved for future generations. It shows what can be done if enough pressure is put on the government

Beautiful place! I just don’t like the removal of the nests. It really doesn’t make any sense. They don’t know if this birds reused the nests. And it’s causing them to relocate or intinction

At 50, with a Father who was deep into back-woods canoe-camping (Nova Scotia, Canada), I have several fond memories of my family, along with three others who we were close to, going on trips that were at least two weeks long. No such thing as camera-phones, sat-phones, just a bunch of canoeists with a dozen kids. If someone broke a leg or got Giardiasis (beaver fever) shit got real. On more than one occasion my Dad had to stuff a Gravol suppository up his best mates ‘ahem,’ and/or fashion a makeshift stretcher out of maple suckers, because there was no such thing as “wifi.” For the love of God, please, save your children from the social-retardation/isolation of “social media” (how ironic is _that_ name?), and send them to summer camp. And if you can’t do that, at least put the camera-phone down and be in the moment with your children. Roles reversed, I’m confidant you’d want your parents to do the same. It breaks my heart that remembering these moments brings me to tears, because it only magnifies what so many others never had what I did.

They sell a drink in the store in Thailand made out of that bird spit nest and they lock that stuff up like Fort Knox. I came walking down an aisle and the girl stalking the case instantly shut the glass doors and locked it as I came near like she was worried I was going to steal some of it. I explained to her that I'm not Thai and that if she offered it to me for free I wouldn't drink it.

Planting high value crops are the another alternative source of income to prevent them from illegal logging and harvesting bird’s nest.
I think the constant harvesting of their nest takes it's tolls eventually, many comment of the place beauty i think if i am put there i die from mosquitoes bites within a month, i only see very hard living standard these people have.
