Is the sound quality worse on this versus the 500 ? I need a smaller more portable version to bring along .. Used the 500 on really big parties and it sounded just perfect, as good as any expensive pioneer other guys are using ..

Only problem is the filter/Fx is terrible and I can’t see anything in the dark thanks to the tiny light in the buttons. I wish someone makes transparent text so light can pass thru. Other than that it’s excellent.

I ended up getting this controller a week ago, nifty little unit. For the same money spent I feel I should have probably gone with the Numark mixtrack pro FX. The effects paddles and varied buttons would've been better choice for me. I feel you can get the visual feedback of the beat matching etc easily from a program like virtual dj (which is what I've been using due to having an ancient laptop).
Still a good unit, for the same money though (at least in australia) the pro fx would be my recommendation.

Hey, great vid! I’ve thought about getting into djing and am leaning between either getting the dj control impulse 300 or the ddj 200. I can get the ddj 200 from a friend for a hundred bucks cheaper, but at the same time, it looks like it lacks many of the features the Hercules one has and I don’t have a problem spending the extra 100. I guess I’m just wondering if you think I should save the 100 to get some program or library, or if I should just go with the Hercules?

@@digitaldjtips right and I understand that, but from the sounds of it you can't with this one? With the older model, all you would have to do is ensure the 'master' button was enabled with the 'master' volume set to the lowest, but the 'headphones volume up. The MK2 looks too have the same setup fundamentally. Am I missing something?

I’m a fairly happy owner of the Hercules DJControl Mix. I use it with Algoriddim djay. A couple of complaints about that tiny unit: because it has no audio outs, there is no way I’ve found to get four channel audio out on iPad with USB-C. Even if you power the controller from your iPhone phone using a string of adapters, then connect it to the iPad via Bluetooth, you have to plug your iPad into another four channel interface to get stereo out plus headphones. By the way, do you have any recommendations for a 4-channel interface that can be powered by iPad via USB-C?
Ironically, by carrying this tiny 1kg controller, I have to use my 2.2 kg Mac to DJ instead of my 1 kg iPad.
(That is not a problem on the controller featured in this video, since it has audio outs)
Second, while the pitch controls, and filter and bass knobs are accurate on my DJControl Mix unit, the volume controls of the tracks are mismatched. Setting the volume to the same level visually, if it’s not 100%, will make one track louder than the other. Worse, ditching the volume knobs and relying on the crossfader doesn’t solve your problem because the center point in software doesn’t align with the hardware center / the center mark on the controller. For both volume and crossfader, you have to watch the level in software while you use them, which is barely better than manipulating them in software to begin with.
What makes me really excited about the unit featured in this video is seeing eight 8-mode performance pads with a shift button on each deck for $200. That’s got to be wonderful for mashups, STEMS, instant FX, and looping/bouncing! I’m into it!

DJControl Mix is intended to operate wireless, without connecting to the smartphone connector,, that's why there is no built in audio.
To connect to the iPad USB-C connector and get 4-channel audio, I would rather use DJC Starlight, whose size and controls are the same as DJC Mix, but whose USB connection provides 4-channel built in audio.
