Hey John - thank you so much for the compliments but I think you are still the master of this painting. I know my viewers and I really appreciate you letting me loose on it for this tutorial. All best wishes - Paul😃
@ you are too kind! You are a natural for creating tutorials. I have only tried making a couple, and have a new respect for those who take the time and effort to show others their craft. Have fun creating and sharing your passion, Paul!😊
Hi Paul! Nice to be able to chat live with you and everyone during the live premiere! Your expertise is very much appreciated… I have learned so much. I’m especially glad you showed us how to do the foreground blending so as to not dull it down… it’s very beautiful! Thanks also for pointing out the fan brush crunch sounds mean that it’s going well.. I thought it might mean the brush is getting too old. Again thank you Paul!! Love Henny’s appearance too! Have a wonderful week! 🤗🤩
Hi Stephanie - yes, the crunchy sounds from the fan are a trick I picked up some years ago teaching class. I knew just by walking past a student if they had the technique down just right. Its amazing just how a simple sound can make so much difference. Its lovely for me too, to meet up with folk once a week. I'm doing a longer painting this week. A traditional technique that I hope a lot of folk will find helpful with laying out their paintings. I'll drop a few in progress photos through the week - Paul 😃😍😎
Hi, Paul! I really liked your tutorial!! I think one day I will follow it and paint the Northern Lights! You've gotten me thinking so far outside my self-imposed"box" that I don't think i have a box anymore! 😄 And i really love that! The sky is the limit! Actually, I don't think there is any limit!! Thanks to you, I will paint more than just mountain landscapes! Have a wonderful week!! Best wishes from Utah!
Hi Erica - yes, we tend to put ourselves in ever smaller boxes the older we get. Kids see no limits which is why I'm still a child at heart! I hope I never grow up😂 Now next week might just be right for a revisit to one of Bob's scenes for a change. Hope you can drop by today for the live premier - I'll drop a message later 😃🥰
I think it's a grand way to live--- being a child at heart, with wide open boxes! I'm sure you're next video will be a great tutorial, whatever you choose! Sundays are church and family days, so I miss your live premieres, but I always think of you And look forward to Mondays! Have a great week! Erica
@@ericaf.8921 well its certainly the big outdoors this Sunday. Its great to speak with you when ever your free. Have a lovely rest of the week - Paul 😃😃🥰🥰
Beautiful, soothing, and well narrated as always. I always loved BR’s Northern Lights painting, and this one is just as good, imo. Only complaint is it’s too short- we love your videos so much that we hate it when they end ❤️
Hi Kenneth - thank you. Sorry I was a little short on time for a longer tutorial. But I've made up for it with a bumper length one this week. Happy Painting - Paul 😃
@@PaulRansonArt Thanks so much Paul! And I agree about the practice! I just primed three canvases and am going to draw now. (and who knows, maybe we'll game together in the near future.)
Love to see them. Making a video is much like painting. Get the basic right then build on it. I'm still very much the beginner. But I'll get there eventually. Have a great week - Paul 😃
Waxed freezer paper is essentially the same thing that disposable paper palettes are made from. Paul covers an old plastic placemat with freezer paper and uses it as a palette. When he's finished painting, instead of cleaning a palette, he can just throw away the used paper.
Love northern lights ✨️ 😍 ♥️ ❤️
We had them far to the south of England where I live. Sadly it was a cloudy night so I couldn't see them. But I can paint them 🤗
You did a fantastic job of both the painting, and the tutorial, Paul!🙂👍

This is a great tutorial Paul! I think I’ll try it on a 12x12 and gift it to my nephew for Christmas 🎄 I think he will absolutely love it! 🖌️
Hi Kerri - yes this will make a lovely present. I know you'll make a super painting for him - Paul 😃

Just love your relaxed (and BRITISH!!!) way of talking/teaching.
Northern lights will be my next project……..
I live in Norway, you know 😅😅
Oh wow - I know my Northern Lights will only be second to the real thing. One day I hope to see them myself. Happy Painting - paul - love to Norway 😃
You don’t always have to go to the most northern areas…. in good weather we can see it all over the country 🤩
Paul, you make it seem so easy! Very nice and all the best.
Thank you John - its all about the practice. Your brilliant at gaming and I'm hopeless!😃

What do you use freezer paper for?
Waxed freezer paper is essentially the same thing that disposable paper palettes are made from. Paul covers an old plastic placemat with freezer paper and uses it as a palette. When he's finished painting, instead of cleaning a palette, he can just throw away the used paper.
The perfect answer. Thank you 😃
@@rjk001 Paul recommended freezer paper to me last year and I have been using it ever since. I can vouch for its effectiveness
What brand and kind of paints do you use?
Typically I use Bob Ross oil paints but any brands will do. Just make sure they are not too oily. 😃
Hola
Hola 😃
Hello, nothing wrong with, but, if you could have lightly blue just over it, its not fixed, its always dancing 👍🍻
Its the true joy of painting - you paint what makes you happy. Best wishes - Paul 😃
The oil that you apply doesn't too dry about that technique it's that's wright, thanks
Yes, you are right it's slow drying
