I live in Portland, and I can tell you that this is a direct result of not punishing criminals. These people who feel sorry for criminals and want to say it's not their fault they are the way they are have created this mess. They think jail isn't the answer. YES, IT IS! When people are punished, they are less likely to do it again. Period.

They think TALK GENTLY TO THUGS & CRIMINALS STOP ATTACK, STOP ROBBERY, STOP KILLING PPL BY ASKING lolz 😅😅
YOU ARE NOT GOING TO TALK TO DRUGGIES OR ASK THUGS, CRIMINALS. You are CREATE SOMETHING CALL FORCE LAWS & CIVILIANS LAW SYSTEM TO THROW THEM INTO REHAB CENTER TO GET CLEAN BY FORCE, FORCE & FKING FORCE!! For 9month to 1Y or 2,3Y depend on case if they’re newly in drugs or long-times on drugs need longer time to rehabilitation.

Portland OR was the first city we moved to from China more than 30 years ago. It was one of the most beautiful and safest cities back then! We lived on NW near downtown: out car parked on the road, hardly locked: we used to walk to downtown at night, we never had any safey concern. All the stores along the way were open. sitting ont he river side watching the water was the most peaceful and memorable experience. Can't believe it has changed to a hell today!

Yes. In fall of 2020 I decided to go into Portland and was trying to get to a vintage store. Next thing I know I have protestors all over my car, smashing my windshield, jumping on the hood. I was so frightened. I kept my vehicle moving, although much slower out of fear someone would enter vehicle through a broken window. They held onto my vehicle screaming at me. I gradually increased my speed as able giving them opportunity to jump off which they did one by one. The car was so damaged that insurance company totaled it. I ended up purchasing the rental car I obtained. Plus I saw other things while I was there trying to get my transportation issues resolved. I had visited Portland many times in the past. But it was a totally changed place that now just instilled fear. About a year later a friend of mine went to a conference at a big hotel. I am not totally sure of the location. But in the city of Portland itself. She was attacked by a gang of people. She was gang raped, robbed and beat to a pulp. Sustained a traumatic brain injury She has been in a semi comatose state since and in a nursing home since. She was in her mid thirties with an infant and another small child at home. Portland is not the only city with these issues. Even here in my own home state. Most of the cities are controlled by left leaning democrats. I could tell stories of things that happened when a group of blm and antifa rioters entered a restaurant a group of us were eating at in downtown Dallas. I just no longer go into the cities. If I have to for medical care, etc. I research who is running the city and their policies. Since they are all leftist extremists anymore. I have refused advised medical care out of fear of entering the city center where the big medical center was in Houston. They talk about magas being terrorists which is all propaganda. It is very very visible and evident that the cities have huge issues with leftist terrorists. I mean, anything that makes you feel fear or terror to seek out needed services, prevents ambulances from getting through,……this is terrorism. Not peaceful protests. Taking over government courthouses. The entire January 6 thing was terribly wrong. But not even everyone accused really actually did anything. But several times lately we have had the Palestinian protestors enter and take over the rotunda of the capitol. Absolutely nothing happened. It’s just sickening. No…..Portland is a mess. But I stay away from the cities in general. Austin, our states capitol is just as bad, democrat run , very leftist government. Just sad. Very sad state of affairs. But to say the state of Portland is not related to leftist policies and propaganda would be pretty ignorant.

I first visited Portland, Oregon and Seattle, Washington in 1962, and fell in love. I was 20 years old then and promised myself that I would be back one day. In 1977 I moved with my two young children to the Pacific Northwest and lived in Vancouver, Washington just across the Columbia River from Portland, Oregon. The town back then was small, very clean and it was a great place to raise young children. However it had limited ability to satisfy in the social arena. Portland was the place to go for that. Back then the crime rate was low and pretty much confined to certain areas that we avoided. And the city itself was very clean. It was beautiful actually and I loved living out there. Every time I travelled the return to the Pacific Northwest felt like coming home to a place where I had belonged all my life. Seven years passed before I moved back to the east coast. For a long time I pined for what felt like a major loss and seriously considered returning. Even now, having gone back for a visit a few years ago, I sometimes still long to be out there but only if I could go back to those magical days of thick, dark evergreen forests, cool summers, mild winters, snow-covered Mt. St. Helens, the majesty of the Columbia River Gorge, the clean. peaceful city on the north banks of the Columbia and the clean, good fun city of Portland, a fairly big city then that never felt, smelled, looked,or acted like any of the big cities on the east coast that I had known. About five or six years ago my daughter and I flew out to visit friends who lived near Portland. The visit with them was wonderful but a visit to the city of Portland was bitter sweet. Everything basically looked the same, the river, the roads and bridges, the buildings downtown but the streets of town were now littered and dirty and the homeless were everywhere, sleeping on the streets, some in tents, some just out in the open. I don’t have the words to write all that I saw, heard, smelled, stepped over or around that day. What a crying shame! The city had become a pit and was well on its way to becoming a dystopian nightmare. Much later and back home, I learned that Seattle, Washington, a once lustrous, shiny jewel of a city was now the same as, if not worse than, Portland.

That means no more freebies.. Shoot I would take away needle exchanges.. take away the safety nets. You want to live like an animal you can face the consequences of your decisions to include some pretty horrible diseases and suffering.. it might just save some other lives. I wouldn't put another dime into anything except effective drug treatment and not something they can just walk out off. Something a judge can send you to and you don't get to just leave. A get clean farm. You work, you get treatment, you get some pay, you learn some skills but you can't leave and it needs to last quite a long time. 2nd time is just plain old jail and you get to rot in there for being a hazard to yourself. I went to visit in 1999, it was pretty cool, I should've went about 10 years earlier I guess. But the destruction that's happening to both those cities is unforgivable. ALL THEY CARE IS DRUGS TO FULFILL THEIR SHITTY HABITS & HIGH.
They think ppl follow rules & laws, working to pay taxes is STUPID & NO FREEDOM!!
Why no fk anyone DARE TO TALK ABOUT ALOTS OF THEM CANT FK STAY IN SHELTER BECAUSE THEY CANT FOLLOW SIMPLE BASIC RULES: NO DRUNKEN, NO DRUGS.

There are some homeless is decent person because lost job, healthy problems after accident or disabled can’t working, or because of bankrupt of bad bussiness, wrong investment.

While 80% of HOMELESS IS NOT HOMELESS, FIX TITTLE & USE RIGHT NAME!!
They’re DRUGGIES ZOMBIES, DRUGGIES HOMELESS & DRUGGIES THUGS!!
Most of them is born in healthy body, NOT DOWN SYNDROME & NOT MENTAL ILLNESS!!
But because of bad choice bad in life at teenage & Youngful adult days, bad habits end up become druggies, throwing their life away.
NOT JUST THROW THEIR LIFE AWAY BUT THEYRE DESTROY MOTHERFKER WHOLE CITY, WHOLE COMMUNITY.

THESE PPL BORN IN HEALTHY BODY, NO DOWN SYNDROME & NO MENTAL ILLNESS!!
Anytime they’re commit CRIMES - it switched to MENTAL ILLNESS PROBLEMS. Mental illness my ass!!
The explain is they’re use drugs & alcohol for fk many years & lost control, lost mindset & damage their brains - THATS WHEN THEY CAN GOING AROUND DO WHATEVER THE FK THEY WANT, INCLUDES ROBBERY, STEALING & VIOLENT ATTACKS PEOPLE!!
In the end, they can go away freely, no caught, no punish & no jails.

Still call them victims, homeless, poor ppl. POOR PEOPLE MY ASS!!
I hope STUPID PEOPLE SHOULD BE FORCE TO TAKE DRUGGIES HOMELESS & DRUGGIES THUGS LIVE INSIDE THEIR HOUSE!!
They have DUTY to service these druggies zombies & druggies thugs for free.
So thugs & druggies can eating then get high on drugs throw SHITTY AROUND LIKE KING & QUEEN.
Only this harshly way to PEOPLE OPEN EYES WISELY TO UNDERSTAND SITUATIONS & HELP THEM CURSE OUT OF THEIR STUPID SUPPORT!!
AMERICAN IS DUMBER-DOWN & BRAINWASH FOR FK TOO LONG TOO DEEP THATS WHY THEYRE LOST SIMPLE BASIC SENSE, ALREADY!!
They think TALK SOFTLY & ASK DRUGGIES stop use drugs must the way & WAIT UNTIL DRUGGIES ACCEPT HELP 😅😅
They think TALK GENTLY TO THUGS & CRIMINALS STOP ATTACK, STOP ROBBERY, STOP KILLING PPL BY ASKING lolz 😅😅
YOU ARE NOT GOING TALK TO DRUGGIES OR ASK THUGS, CRIMINALS.
AND USE SOMETHING CALL LAWS ENFORCEMENT & JUSTICE LAWS SYSTEMS TO KICKED OUT & PUNISH THESE THUGS, CRIMINALS IN JAILS FOR LONGTIME OR LIFETIME IN JAILS.
DEAD PENALTY FOR SERIOUS DANGEROUS & VIOLENT CRIMES AGAINST HUMANS.

If you are going on a cross country trip, you should plan to take your items with you whenever you leave your car. I remember once, in my 20s, I had bought a new camera and opened it on the way home from the store. After I parked, I walked into my building with the camera in my hand, leaving the open empty box on the front seat. Someone saw that and broke the window to get what might have been in the box, and anything else possibly in the car. It was a good lesson. Depends on whether or not you live where it's normal for your car to be broken into. I guess if that's the life you want to live, then keep voting for it. I've never had any of my cars broken into since I started driving 20 years ago. I can leave them unlocked. I can leave expensive stuff in them. Heck, I can leave expensive stuff in the bed of my pickup truck because nobody around here is going to take it. I don't know about you, but that's how I want to live, so I choose to live where it's possible - and we all vote in a manner that allows things to stay that way. If you pay taxes, you are owed the ability to leave stuff in your car, by the government, period. If the people in office are not giving that to you, then don't vote for people that are RIPPING YOU OFF next time. You dig?

The defunding stuff was almost 100% big talk, anyway. The 2021 budget was down like 4% from 2020, and then the budget grew every year after that. It's currently higher than it's ever been. Turns out you can't make many lasting or serious policy changes by doing insurrectionist cosplay because you got bored during quarantine.

    • @BWolf00
      @BWolf00 ปีที่แล้ว +4

@@interior_defecator I can't speak to this budget but across the country most defunding efforts were more about taking the money away from police and criminal prosecutions diverting the funding into other social programs while also passing policies permitting or laws legalizing criminal activity....overall budgets were rarely decreased. Many of these cities eliminated open police positions especially for patrol officers while encouraging early retirements. With the vitriol of the public and the dearth of political prosecutorial will the police quickly realized no arrests was easier and safer for them. So it is better for them to ignore these crimes and/or leave policing altogether...and now there's a nation wide shortage of experienced police officers. As you point out the net result is lasting impacts.

Parking garages are the absolute worst places to park.
      1. They’re typically not cheap
      2. They’re typically desolate in terms of people, leaving yourself open to being robbed or worse in an enclosed space where no one can see or help you.
      3. There is a chance you will either get blocked in or locked out, meaning you’re going nowhere and are stuck.
      4. Parking spaces are narrow AF so your chances of the vehicle getting dinged or damaged is much higher.

In 2005 I parked my car in SF and walked around the block, came back about 8-10 minutes later and my car was gone.

One political party has ruled Portland and Oregon for over "40" years , and is to blame for the crime , lawlessness , and high taxes. Keep voting the same and it will never change just will get worse.

Very true. They just “plastic” their window, and still left things in the car… and they think it won’t be break into still? If you can put your car into some public parking garage, anyone still can walk there.

Sounds like dumb luck to me.
And a little naivety too. Leaving a car visibly full of stuff parked overnight in the city is a bit foolish.
