    Sounds like a fierce wind.. I imagine those groups would shrink on a calm day. Your video was informative and enjoyable. I'm wanting a 9mm carbine and am interested in either the PC carbine or the cz scorpion with brace. Appreciate the video brother.

    I was thinking about building an AR style PC carbine using something like an fm9 reciever but now I'm highly interested in a Ruger. I love the capability of using Glock magazines.

    Excellent review... great effort. One of the best videos I have seen so far. Your honest and professional opinion on the Ruger PC9 Carbine were based on facts and uncontested data. To me, you will never go wrong with that. I just purchased my first ever PC Carbine and it is all because of all the videos that you have put up on this amazing and popular rifle. Thank you to you sir.

    Just got done testing 9 kinds of sub sonic ammo in my Ruger 9mm carbine, suppressed. The ppu 158g ammo was one of the 4 quietest , and it is very quiet at the ear drum, with most of the sound being the bolt coming back. But the real separation was the accuracy at 50 yards, which was excellent. will be buy much for of this ammo. velocity was just under 1000 fps. Note: Keep your barrel screw tight, if you don't want the barrel jumping around.

    I've had mine for about a month now and had no problems on 2 range trips. Very accurate with a scope and a red dot and virtually no recoil. I'm like you these days struggling with iron sights on anything because I just can't focus them anymore. Very fun gun to shoot with all my many Glock mags. Great video.

    I have a spare 3-9X Athlon BDC scope laying around that is calibrated based on a 1250fps MV. Zero'd at 50 yards the holdover subtensions are 75, 100, 125, and 150 yards. As soon as I get another set of rings I'm going to install it and then fine tune my reloaded ammo to exactly a 1250fps MV and see how well it performs on the marks. Could be interesting.

I like all of the variations and combos you showed and the effect on groups, which was basically no effect and a good thing. I have two of the 10/22 takedowns and love those as well. Your point of impact shift when attaching the suppressor could possibly be attributed to slight velocity gains also. The point of impact shift was slightly vertical of the original impacts unsuppressed. Sometimes for example when shooting 38 special and switching to 357 Magnum the point of impact shift is usually a shift in elevation due to the increased velocity of the projectile when shooting at farther ranges for pistol calibers such as 50 yards. I have seen some long range guns have slight velocity increased when the rifle is supressed vs unsuppressed. That's just one variable I could be wrong and it may well be another issue

    I am confused. TulAmmo has a reputation for inaccuracy, and Critical Defense is is designed for close range. Given that every weapon is unique in harmonic characteristics, use a quality ammo to zero your weapon with either iron sights or an optic. Once adjusted as close as possible, then try other quality brands. Secondly, subsonic i anything under 1125 fps, so the Hornady ammo was subsonic also.

    Somewhat concerning to me is not the group size but that your point of impact of the center of of your groups changes among the 4 targets shot for each type of ammo. ?? (even after you found out about the thread protector)

    • @GunsumerReports
      @GunsumerReports  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The shift in POI between the groups is due to me changing the recoil state of the rifle as I twisted it slightly in the Bulls Bag to line up on the target. Good observation on your part. I have seen this before when using this bag while shifting to various targets and not repositioning the bag slightly.

    Did you ever try out cheap/midgrade brass? Like Winchester white box, 9mm NATO, the bulk remington stuff in the yellow boxes you see in places like Walmart and Academy? I believe more realistically its what I and others would be plinking in a fine gun like this

    • @StuartKReilly
      @StuartKReilly 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Following up on this comment. I got mine yesterday. Ran some white box 9mm NATO. Boresighted a Bushnell TRS, got decent enough groups at 10-15 yards for my shaky hands. NO jams with G19 14rd Pmag, ONE FTF with the ETS 31rd stick. Chalking it up to the gun getting really dirty after all my shooting and the mag needing a break in period. The ETS has a super heavy spring I believe will soften with a few days loaded

    I'm kind of tired of hearing people, who choose to put these tests on youtube, make excuses about how they forget something in their setup or its unstable, or too much wind, or "maybe it was me", or what have you. Anyone have a link to a decent source for accuracy testing on the PC9? Perhaps shooting indoors on a stable platform with a zeroed scope. Essentially, so the variables are taken out and we, the viewers, can make informed decisions on ammo type.

      His problem was not that he shot steel ammo. The problem is shooting it first, then moving to brass. That's a no no. The steel case and stuck on dirt in the barrel can cause the brass later to get stuck.

      I live in California and people are afraid of showing their AR’s . I’m looking to buy this Ruger 9mm carbine to take some shooting classes. Do you think this carbine will endure 3/4 hundred rounds in one day or couple thousand rounds in a year?
      I hit like on this video and I’m following your channel.

    • @GunsumerReports
      @GunsumerReports  6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Although I cannot speak to the "couple thousand rounds in a year" in a year yet, my limited data point is hundreds a day shouldn't be any issue. The carbine is built like a tank (my impression) and will most likely handle thousands of rounds easy with a little normal cleaning as needed.

It all depends on what you are used to. Like most guns, I'm sure it has a break in period and you need to get used to the gun as well. Just my opinion. I get mine Friday. We shall see.

      It was probably a used one from the 90's. They made a version of this rifle during the AWB mainly for the law enforcement market; "PC" actually stood for "Police carbine". By the mid 2000's, it was clear that most departments were opting for AR-15s so these rifles never really caught on and ruger discontinued it.
      Now, with the popularity of pistol caliber carbines, ruger has brought it back aimed primarliy at the civilian market. In fact, according to their catalog, the "PC" stands for "Pistol Caliber", not "Police Carbine". The old Police carbines can indeed be found for such over-inflated prices, but the pistol caliber carbines should be in stores here soon and for around $500.
