Bought mine in 2018, had failure to eject after 500 rnds so installed Mcarbo extractor and bolthead pins along with shock buffer and it's run like a top ever since. Always hated frontheavy feel till I installed the Magpul stock kit. Now feels right.
Just picked up the PC Carbine Magpul take down backpack version today. I want one semi auto carbine for home defense/truck/RV/bugout/survival and this rifle will do all this and more for me in a made in the USA package that accepts Glock & Ruger mags. I am a big fan of Ruger's hunting rifles including the M77 and 10-22 as well as their semi auto pistols. Great job Ruger making another quality weapon in the USA that has so many practical applications.
Really good info with the part upgrades. I didn’t see anyone else mention these potential failure points. The consensus is the magpul is definitely the way to go. I’ll be picking one of these up as my next firearm purchase. Thanks from up north 🇨🇦
I've got one of the first run PC Carbines well over 5000 rounds through it. Not a single hiccup though I am pretty religious about cleaning it after range day. Regular Stock, Zhukov Forend, SeeAll Open Site, and Steel Ruger Mags...Its a Lazerbeam out to 100. Next upgrade is that Backpacker stock to lose some weight. GREAT VIDEO.
Very good review, not the usual social influencer kind. I have a somewhat early one that came in the black plastic stock, which isn’t bad, but I bought the Magpul stock in FDE since I’m moving to the desert. I like it for the tougher small game up thru coyotes. I have a double optic setup, micro red dot and a 2-7 rimfire scope if using for hunting. I’ve got a bunch of 9BPLE, which is just dynamite in this barrel. It’s hitting about 1600fps and even at 50-75 yds, still expands great. I wanted a CZ 22mag semi-auto, but they discontinued it, so this is taking the place of it, while also making a good SD gun with the red dot. And it costs no more to feed than a 22mag, with surprisingly good accuracy. It really doesn’t give up accuracy to an 22mag, and kills with far more authority.
I just ordered one today in Commiefornia.....grew up in Chicago so I was interested in your review. I ordered the Mcarbo kit/springs....will check out the main spring and plate too. It's my first "plinker" carbine & I am looking forward to trying it out. Thx for your great review.
The magpul stock looks like it solved the number one problem I have which is the sling stud under the butt of the stock. Also when shooting a “Rifle & Pistol Challenge” the factory trigger.... needs work. My hesitation to the magpul stock it I like to grab all they way out by the front of the rifle and push my elbow through my sling.
As Tom stated. PC Carbine owners would do their weapons justice by upgrading some of the internal parts sold by MCarbo. I had issues with FTE's until I upgraded, and then it never had a problem again.

Crazy how accurate it is out to 100 and even 150 yards right? Especially for a 9mm. The upgrades make a significant difference for sure. Thanks for the great feedback and good luck with any upgrades. Let us know how you did. Thanks for watching!
The 21rd 9mm Glock PMAG fits PERFECTLY in the stock storage space. Pretty sure it was made for that. Also, didn't hear it mentioned, but there's a smaller storage space in the grip that appears to be moisture resistant. Great place to keep the included allen wrenches, etc...
